Too Good To Be True basically reminded me that I never finish this series. Not that I'm mad about it because if I can't find the book.. I can't really read it. Luckily for me, this was on audible and I devoured it. In it, we meet Olivia and she was fun to get to know more about.
She has been hurt in the past so she has all kinds of walls and force fields around her heart. Well, she thought she did until Herb came into the picture. They were all kinds of adorable and definitely broke down each other's walls. It was a really cute read and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.
I guess I better go find the books that I haven't read to finish off this series..
This is a sweet, sexy novellete for Flynn and Dylan's sister, Olivia. She is an ethical hacker and tech nerd, but she has other fun interests. But she has been hurt so she is guarded and picky. She tends to self-sabotage to avoid getting hurt.
But Flynn convinces her to give Evie the matchmaker a try. Enter smart, sweet, funny vet Herb Smith. He has his own relationship issues and fears.
The matchmaker thinks they will be a match made in Heaven with similar interests and personalities. Will it be a love match or is he too good to be true? And is Olivia brave enough to truly find out?
I really liked both of these characters and their banter. I enjoyed more with Flynn (this takes place prior to his book, Come As You Are). This is short, sweet, and so much fun.
Too Good to Be True is an novella that takes place before Come As You Are and Satisfaction Guaranteed. If you read those books then you have met Olivia (Flynn’s Sister) and Herb (Malone’s Friend). If you haven’t read them...you will!!
Herb and Olivia both have trouble dating with an open mind because of past relationships. But the both want the real deal. So with a mutual friend being a matchmaker...it’s on! And that how they end up on the best. Date. Ever. But is it too good to be true? Can it be that easy? There has to be something wrong with one another, right?
Aw! I loved it. I loved Olivia and Herb in the other books so I was happy that they got their own story. It’s funny. It’s hot. It’s delicious.
Quotes:
“When you’ve got it, you’ve got it. No one snips dog balls better than this guy.” “Put that on your business card, Herb.” “It’ll be my new tagline.”
“You look like you were imported from the land of hot men.” He blinks. His eyes widen and sparkle, and then he says, “Wow. I didn't know that country existed.” “It’s right between Goodlookingvia and Stunninglandenero. Just north of Beautifulcountria.” “I’d like to see your map of the world.”
“Failure is not an option,” she says, her tone intense.
a free short novella from one of my favorite authors that is THE BEST INSTALOVE I've ever read. It's two people who are ready to date and settle down. A majority of the book is their first date and it's just lovely and witty. Fast-paced snap like Gilmore Girls. Super low angst.
In Too Good To Be True Olivia Parker and Herb Smith give matchmaking a try after one too many unsuccessful dates. Olivia has a checks list she uses to help identify the qualities she’s looking for in a guy. She was burned by her ex, so she’s reluctant to hurt again. She usually sabotages a date before it becomes more.
Herb Smith is a vet who too is recently single after his girlfriend of one year left leaving Herb to wonder if the right lady is out there for him.
This is a short insta-romance made up of eight chapters and an epilogue. Lauren graced the reader with alternating points of view. Gotta love instant perspective from both sides. This was a quick easy read. It’s really difficult to rate a novella since there isn’t enough character development. Just when you begin to get attached to the characters it’s over.
Too Good To Be True is a fun contemporary romance by Lauren Blakely. Ms. Blakely has provided readers with a well-written book loaded with fun, lovable characters. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. It is written in first person, alternating point of view, not my favorite, but it works in this story. Olivia is dating but finding your perfect mate is hard. Herb has agreed to give matchmaking a try. Olivia and Herb's story is packed with drama, humor and spice. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more from Lauren Blakely in the future. Too Good To Be True is book 5.5 of the One Love Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Too Good To Be True By Lauren Blakely is novella that’s easy to read and a great stand-alone option.
Olivia is a big nerd - just like her brothers, after a heart to heart discussion she readjusts her way of thinking about dating again and opening up to finding Mr Right. Even if that’s by using a match maker.
Herb had also had his heartbroken, and is willing to take a chance on set up.
Both are hopeless romantics, but equally scared of being hurt again. This insta love short story was a great read.
The story also has POVs from both Olivia and Herb which really worked in getting to know the characters.
This was the first book I’d read by Lauren Blakely and I’ll definitely reading more.
This is an OK romance novella, with a likable couple, but it was just too short for me. I needed more character development on both Olivia and Herb. It is typical of Lauren Blakely's books, as it has a fun (and sometimes quite witty) plot and likable supporting characters. There is no unnecessary angst either, which drives me absolutely crazy.
If you want to read a short feel-good romance, with some steamy scenes, this is a good choice. My rating is 3 stars. It probably would have gotten a higher rating if it had been a full book, and not such a short novella.
I absolutely love this story! Even though it's a short novella it was really freaking good! Thank you Lauren for these free book! Olivia is self sabotaged every date she been on so her brother set her up with Evie for a match making service. Herb has been hurt but is ready to date again. When these two meet is sparks fly and easy conversation. Amazing work Lauren Blakely!
Fun little novella, with a sweet love story. Olivia doesn’t seem to be able to resist sabotaging every first date, so she never gets to a second date. When her brother lectures her and sets her up with a match making service, she meets Herb. Herb has also had bad relationships but is ready to try again. They seem perfect, too perfect?
Being written by Lauren Blakely it was witty and with the great dialogue I expect from her. And I must say I need more of Herb!
Ok, first of all I got this for free, so I'm not going to b*tch about it (just for the hell off it)...
Is it the best book I've ever read? No Is it the worst? Nope Did it make me smile? Yes Laugh? Yes Cry? No Did it annoy me? I don't think so... If I knew what it was like first-hand, would I read it? Not really sure, but I think so, just another time (when I'd be look for a small book)
Short and sweet! Both Olivia and Herb have been burned, plus Olivia has a bad habit of self-sabotoging herself if she doesn't hit it off with a guy right away. These two end up using the same matchmaker who insists that they're perfect for one another. The repartee is perfect, you end up smiling if not laughing out loud.
As the title says it was a little bit "too good to be true". It's a very short novella with an instalove and there was almost no challenge to overcome. It was very short and sweet. The couple was too perfect for each others but it was fun and heartwarming to read. I enjoyed it but how can we find perfect significant other like this?? 😂😭
They sabotage their dating because of past hurts. So when Evie, a matchmaker, puts them together, the story ZOOMS around their too good to be true date. Lots of cute banter that leads to a happy ever after. Short, sweet and simple. No cheating or cliffhanger. Enjoy 🤓
This is a short story about Flynn’s sister that gets set up by Evie with the perfect match. This is an insta-love, quick read and I don’t think it would be of interest if you haven’t read the other books in the series. There is very little character development here so without any background on the characters, I know I would not have enjoyed it.
Very short. Very insta. Very cutesy. She’s thirty and acts like she’s a lot younger. Despite being a white hat hacker. One of those people who is always “on” and it covers a lot of judgment. But she tries out a matchmaker and meets a vet named Herb. For a book that is fairly low key sex-wise, only the foreplay is shown, they have it less than 24 hours after meeting.
I listened to this novella as part of a collection included with Nobody Does It Better. I loved the new recording of Too Good To Be True that was included at the end. Joe Arden's voice really suits Herb, the sexy Veterinarian. Andi and Joe were great together in this cute and sexy AF novella.
Moves fast, exactly the way it should and has you yelling, "this is the one, don't do anything to lose it, it may be fast, but trust yourself and don't let go". I loved this sweet novella. What seemed too good to be true, was truly good and true!!
I know it’s a novella and all, but it needs some key information, or the rightful one. Where they made love the first time for example. His or hers? I guess pronouns were mistakenly misused? In any case it was too brief....but it’s free, so.....
Not a bad short story but at times things were confused like when they met in Madison Square gardens whose apartment did they go to? It starts with his and then hers these things need to be flowing which in this instance it is not.
This is very cute I kind of wish it was not a novella, or at least longer???? Like, I want to see Olivia and Herb sulk longer on their near-perfect-if-it-wasn’t-for-the-ending first date before finally realising what they will miss out?
This romance novella of Olivia and Herb use a matchmaker after getting burned from previous dating relationships. There is fun, love and romance in the air. I really enjoyed reading this romantic read. I received this free e-book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I don't remember anything bad or problematic. Just a cute novella that I listened to one evening. Problem is I don't remember much except that they used a professional matchmaker (not an app) and now I'm wondering where I can find one of those.
This is one of those stories that act as an appetizer. Herb and Olivia click immediately because they are each other's soul mates in light of the fact they have so much in common. It's short, but just a tasty nibble that's so sweet. A treat, really. There's an HEA.
Olivia is Flynn’s sister and looking for her Prince Charming but after a bad break up she keeps finding faults and ending the dates. Evie organises a date between Olivia and Herb a sexy geeky vet. Absolutely loved this short and sweet story in this fantastic series
Well written, but I had a feeling this is targeted to a much younger audience than me, so I didn't bother to finish. Dialogue driven with lots of snappy lines.
