In a world of dragons, terrifyingly strong creatures known as the Crimson Riders and an evil Grandmaster who will stop at nothing to take over the world, the responsibility to save the world falls on the shoulders of young Elijah Edge. Elements from a medieval world have been mysteriously entering his world and disrupting the peace. After being chosen as the New Black Knight, a powerful warrior whose destiny is to stop the Grandmaster, Elijah sets off to prove his worth. He begins his daunting quest immediately with the help of his newfound friends including fairies, knights and elves to put an end to the Grandmaster’s legacy of terror.

This book is geared towards a younger audience such as teenagers and young adults as it includes profanities and funny jokes and characters that young people will enjoy reading about. Jam-packed with crazy adventures that often put the characters’ lives at risk, this epic tale will make it impossible for readers to tear themselves away from it. Also, the characters are three-dimensional, dynamic and highly entertaining to read about especially Elijah and Rico. Their snappy comebacks and witty dialogue will have readers chuckling as they banter quite a bit amidst all the fighting. Apart from action and adventure, this book also does explore a theme of romance and incorporates flirting and unexpected sexual tension between the characters that undoubtedly add to the story’s value. However, I had mixed feelings about the last chapters as it paved the way for a new quest but vanquished all the existing events and relationships that I loved about the book.
Interweaving an urban world with a fantasy world accompanied by adventure and humor, this book will easily appeal to a broad audience.

In an odd clash of medieval and modern city life, young Elijah Edge has to fight for his life against a mysterious knight—all in his own home. Trusty pal Rico helps him fight off all kinds of magical foe, leaving them in the care of a fairy.
After being trained by a Jamaican swordsmith with fantastic skills, Elijah is ready to face his new challenge. He accepts his call to action as the Black Knight and goes on an epic journey with old and new friends alike. The world is laid out rather clearly, with nice pacing and character design to really let you kick back and enjoy the read.
Elijah takes to his new role as savior of a world he never knew existed at a believable pace, using what real-world knowledge he's gained to navigate through it all. I rather enjoyed the bond between Elijah and Rico and love their little side-kick energy. The chemistry with Elijah and Aquas is also perfection. Tension and jabs galore, and it's all so wonderfully enjoyable to read. Fighting against the Silver Knights and the various obstacles that are thrown at our main character, Elijah really grows in this short novel.
This crossover portal fantasy really was a fun, fast read. Characters are believable and real, even the dragon flying around. It was a neat little story that could easily pave the way for a big series. I definitely recommend it if you enjoy urban fantasy with a medieval twist. With magical creatures, swords and sorcery, and a modern male lead, this story is sure to find its home on private shelves. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

L. T. Edwards created a thrilling book full of adventure, highly packed action and warlocks and portals. I really liked it! You keep connecting with all the characters which is not easy. It is very hard for an author to create empathy between the reader and the characters, but you can expect it in Metroplex Fantasy: The New Black Knight. Also, the cover already presents an element of the unknown and that something will happen with our three characters. And have you seen this awesome cover? If it doesn’t scream fun, then I don’t know what will.
I recommend Metroplex Fantasy: The New Black Knight as it is a great urban fantasy book mixed with a little of medieval times. Honestly, it is my favourite kind of genre. With Elijah and Rico we will learn about friendship and how your world can be turned upside down when a portal opens above your head…
Our main character, Elijah has a though task, he has to save the world from the Warlock and little did he know that he had a Dark Night inside of him, not literally, but in spirit. What will Elijah and Rico do, is the world safe? You will have to read it to find out.
Too me this book is a must for this summer. You can expect a roller coaster of emotions and it is really short. Believe me when I tell you that it is addictive, I have read it in a couple days. Perfect to peaky readers who want to start reading fantasy.

Interesting storyline
The city of Metroplex was ferociously conquered by dragons, skeleton worriers, and red knights; and someone had to put a stop to this. Who knew the young Elijah had a soul of a Black Knight beneath him? “Metroplex fantasy: The new Black Knight” penned by L.T Edwards presents an interesting storyline with a plot revolving around the journey of two young men towards saving the city from danger. But was it just a dream after all?
It is interesting to see how the author created a smooth transition from the real world to fantasy, and the book flows within an ideal length for an easy and quick read. Fight scenes and the other elaborations are imaginative and kudos to the author for the writing skill. I feel this book would be a great beginning for a fantasy series if the author wishes to continue with the plot. An enjoyable read!

Great hack and slash!

From a young author, taking a solid attempt, I am impressed! A few editorial issues, but they are fairly light, so it was an easy read. There are many cliches and fantasy stereotypes, but, as you go deeper, you find it all put together in fairly high action sequences that are not as one sided as you may believe them to be, at first. My only solid complaint is that I would like to see some backstory on the characters. I hope, in the next book, we will learn much more about the origins and motives of the myriad of characters. But don't you dare let my criticism stop you, Edwards. I had no regrets buying this book, and I will have none seeing where you go from here.
