I'm finally done with Biology!! never again do i have to suffer through this -_- It was very informative, but since it is an AP honors course, it was definitely way harder than most biology books. Any student getting grades C or higher is supposed to be 'well prepared' for a college biology class. Anyways, I definitely appreciated how informative it was. At times, i didn't understand, but for me it helps to have visual demonstrations (YouTube videos).

This newest edition is probably better than the old one but is not without its flaws. Over 650 pages of text is a lot to cover in high school. The paperback-only option, while it does keep the cost down (supposedly), is much more susceptible to wear and tear especially water damage. Remembering these are 15-year-olds using these books, a hardcover option would be a good idea. But rearranging the content, with Kingdom Animalia kept for last was a good idea. And the updating of scientific info was necessary as well.

I read this alongside wCC Ch2 class. This updated edition of Apologia is awful. Jay Wile is far better author (he wrote the previous edition. )

2.5 stars. I do like the organization of this edition but find that it includes more detail in each chapter than is necessary for freshman biology in high school. I'm writing my own tests requiring short and long answers rather than multiple choice or matching.

Thank you Classical Conversations Challenge II for making this slightly more bearable by allowing me to suffer with friends.

I do believe that this would’ve been a better experience had a teacher taught this to me instead of me trying to teach myself.
