As the Siren of the Seas nears its next port of call, a group of disgruntled crewmembers circulate a petition to have the ship’s purser fired.
Millie is shocked to learn that not only is her close friend’s name at the top of the list, but other loyal crewmembers’ names are listed as well.
Her friend swears she never signed the petition, and Millie jumps in to investigate after suspecting there’s more going on than having the purser removed.
Millie’s investigation turns into the adventure of a lifetime while visiting two world famous UNESCO sites – the Ring of Brodgar and Skara Brae but ends up being much more than she bargained for.
Will the whispers of crew unrest lead to an all-out mutiny? Is one of Millie’s best friends involved in trying to take out the purser?
Has Millie finally found herself in so deep that even her husband, the captain of the ship, is unable to rescue her?
Wow! This one kept me on the edge of my seat while reading Millie's exploits. A clean and engaging cozy mystery that I am sad to see come to an end for now. I look forward to more in this series.
Mischief and Mutiny is the nineteenth book in Hope Callaghan’s Cruise Ship Christian Cozy Mysteries Series. The author’s smooth writing style flows at a steady pace, the characters are three dimensional and affable, the storyline is well-plotted, and the mystery is interesting. There’s a lot happening in this book, and the twists and red herrings keep the reader engaged and guessing. I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy reading well-crafted cozy mysteries.
Siren of the Seas is on its third cruise around the British Isles, and not only is Assistant Cruise Director Millie Sanders-Armati worried about several of her friend’s physical and/or mental health, but she’s also concerned about the unrest among the ship’s crewmembers. A group of disgruntled crewmembers has been circulating a petition around the ship to have Donovan Sweeney, the ship’s purser, fired. The petition claims that the ship’s captains and officers receive better food than the crewmembers, who receive the scraps, but Millie has a feeling that there’s more going on. There’s also the matter of heavy fog and the ship’s warning horns working intermittently, necessitating a change in the cruise’s itinerary and causing passengers to be disgruntled. As Millie performs her daily assignments, she tries to figure out who’s behind the mini-mutiny, and she and her friend, Cat Wellington, find themselves in a rather precarious circumstance while touring Skara Brae.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Siren of the Sea has a new route - the Atlantic with stops in Scotland. Arm chair cruise and European travels. Book 19 in the Cruise Ship mysteries is filled unexpected twist and turns, red herrings, and our favorite characters. Mischief and Mutiny is a delightful read, especially Sharky and the homeless drug sniffing kitten. Recipe for Savory Soft Pretzels and a tasty Guinness Beer Cheese Dip, plus a surprise Scottish dish.
As we travel along on this voyage with the crew of the Siren of The Seas, we become caught up in more than one mystery happening on board the ship. Trying to increase moral, Millie suggests an employee scavenger hunt with prizes given for the most tokens retrieved. In the meantime, Andy, becomes the recipient of practical jokes that challenge him to keep one step ahead of the prankster. Could the new activity and pranks be tied in? Add to that mechanical problems of the ship, causing unscheduled changes in their destination, as well as the threat of mutiny, Millie and her friends have a lot on their plate!
I’m always up for adventure on the high seas with Millie and the crew. This is a quick read that kept me turning the pages as I was caught up in the mystery. Ms. Callaghan has a well thought out plot that gives you enough clues to keep you guessing. The ports of call are fascinating and visiting a character from a previous book adds to the charm of this cozy mystery. I thought this was one of the best endings yet as the suspense involving Millie played out on the pages. Finding the leader instigating the mutiny surprised me as well as those involved. This is fast-paced, entertaining cozy. I received this book as a gift from the author. All thoughts shared are my own.
Millie and Cat over hear disgruntled crew members planning a coup on their ship " Siren of the Seas. " It starts with a petition about the crew's food being unequal to the upper staff's. Another petition to get purser Donovan Sweeny fired because of unfair wages and long hours. On a day trip to to some ruins in Skara Brae Scotland, they get trapped in the Skaill House basement which is known to be haunted, because it was built over a burial ground. They entered the roped off area because they heard some crew members plotting the attack on the ship. Left behind, in the scary, damp, small, and dark area, they begin hearing creaks and noises realizing the ship left without them, and everyone has left for the day. Millie is up to her eyebrows in the middle of this intrigue, as usual, much to the chagrin of her husband, Nic Armati, ship Captain. I would recommend this book and all of Hope's series to readers of cozy mysteries.
Hope Callaghan has written yet another exciting page turned that keeps you guessing till the end. The side stories this time were both touching and entertaining! We finally understand Annette's health concern. We are a different side of Sharkey that is sure to make you smile. There is romance brewing in board...but, best of all, we get a closer look at Nic and Millie, the depth their love and how special their union truly is. This is a great series and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a clean cozy mystery with suspense, plot twists and funny moments that will have you smiling!
This Series is a nice, light read for any Cruise lover. I will now dream of taking a cruise around the British Isles, being sure to visit the neolithic settlement of Skara Brae when stopping in Orkney. I doubt my visit would be as exciting as Millie’s, as she gets locked in an ancient, haunted burial ground while trying to overhear plans to take over the ship.
While checking up on her elderly, homeless friend in Southampton, Millie finds a hungry kitten and takes him back to the ship. The cat is taken in by Sharky, Who calls him Fin. To everyone’s surprise, the cat has a talent for sniffing drugs. Fin and Sharky make an adorable match.
One of the best ones yet. This installment delves more into personal lives of Millie, Nic, Cat, Annette. Strange things are happening to Andy, and it is yet another mystery that needs solving. We also get to see a whole new side of Sharkey - as a new crew member makes his way on board! Meanwhile, Millie overhears something troubling, her friends are on the verge of being fired! Will she figure everything out in time to avert danger? The plot is twisty and keeps the reader guessing til the end! Fun wonderful read, as always. PS: is there a new romance brewing?
Each book in the series gets better and better. I love the camaraderie between the characters. The plot has twists and turns and kept me guessing who the culprit was. I also enjoyed the pranks being played on Andy. It showed good, innocent fun. A new pet was introduced, a kitten, Millie found at the warehouse and she took it back to the ship. I enjoyed each and every book in the series and I hope it continues for many books to come. This is a must read if you like clean cozy mysteries with a little bit of romance.
I love the way Hope Callaghan writes. I was in the ER 15 hours sitting on a chair with my husband. They would only let one person be with him and if I left , I couldn't get back in because of coved. I had this book on my phone and it kept me company all day and night. It was so well written as all of Hopes books. The characters are all so real, they become your friends and Mill lie, gets in so many jams. The romance , fun , travels, and good clean stories are the best. I can't wait for the next book.
I can never get enough Millie and all her antics! This time one the ship crew members are starting a mutiny! Millie overheads some coworkers talk about what they are planning next to take over Siren of the Seas. Millie is determined to stop them, but when she gets locked into an ancient burial ground tomb and misses the boat will her plan backfire ?
I give this series 5 stars because I love the characters in this series. Love Millie and the mysteries she always solves without getting into too much danger, and love the romance of Millie and Nic. I look forward too each book in this series and hope for more.
Enjoyed this book very much, as I have the many Hope Callaghan stories I have read, my favorite being the Savannah series. Good clean writing with delightful characters who care about each other. Good plot but not over complicated. Enough of a story to keep me up too late! Enjoy!
Once again, another wonderful story of Millie and the gang from Siren of the Seas Cruise Ship! I really liked how the friends of Millie stood up for her, even when things got tough. Good recipes to try, from the story, are posted at the end of the book! Yum!! Thanks Hope!
Another intriguing mystery for Millie and pals when some cranky crew members start creating problems, leading Millie to a few heart stopping moments and a bit of justified anger from her worried husband. Some fun moments with Andy and his mystery prankster also. A very entertaining read, and well researched local history.
Another great journey with Millie and her friends. I read other series from Hope and they all are great. The characters are likeable and believable. This book definitely grabbed me from the very beginning and kept me guessing until the very end. I highly recommend this book and author to you.
This is such an enjoyable series of books. I have come to look forward to each new release to cruise with the Siren of the Seas and the lively group of the ship's crew. They have all been excellent entertainment. Hope Callaghan writes well developed cozy mysteries that reflect Christian values. I enjoy reading all of her books.
A nother delightful, fast paced Cruise Ship Mystery starring Assistant Cruise Director Millie Sanders Amati. This time she stumbles upon a planned mutiny aboard the Siren of the Seas. Follow Millie and her co-horts as they try to find out the ring leader. Read it at one sitting.
This book is about a conspiracy not a murder but it has just as many twists and turns. There are also other sub mysteries like who is pranking Andy. Sharkey is in this book also, his character is odd enough to be funny. As with the other books in this series you do not see the culprit till the final pages. I look forward to reading the next book
Another great Cruise Ship Mystery. While trying to listen to the disgruntled crewmembers' plans, Millie and her friend are trapped in an ancient burial chamber. The ship sails without them and there is no one around to rescue them. Will they get out in time to alert the captain? Will they get out at all?
A potentially dangerous mutiny was narrowly avoided in the previous book. Siren of the Seas is safe. Or is it? Millie is up to her eyeballs in this mystery along with another... Who is pranking Andy? Great story and another heart racing ending . I'm off to read book 20!
A cruise line mystery that will hold your attention from start to finish. Some good friends who support each other and the in need to when the bad guys are at work. I love the idea of meeting them in the next story and seeing how they support each other to solve the crime.
Another good book in this series with plenty of suspense, twists and turns. I loved the storyline and the characters. This book is recommended for those who love cozy mysteries.
She has gotten on Nic's last nerve! With mutiny being planned, Millie and friends work together to uncover the scheme and the perpetrators before it can take place. Who would have thought such shenanigans could take place n a cruise ship while touring Scotland? Only on a ship with Millie Armati!!!
I was given this book to read for my honest review. Honestly, I love reading about Millie's adventures, and I truly believe you will as well.
Yet again, Millie finds herself in the middle of another mystery. This one about a possible mutiny onboard! Will she solve this one before it's too late?
I have read all 19 of the Cruise Ship mysteries! Millie & Nic have become my friends. This was my favorite books so far. There were twist and turns I didn’t see coming. Also some years and a lot of laughter. Hope Callaghan is one of my favorites!
This mystery has so many interesting twists and turns along with a few sweet moments that really makes it a well rounded an interesting mystery. I loved it.
Another great Millie adventure with her friends. Adding a charter as Good did added to the humor of the book. Loved the surprise of who did it and how. Humor and mystery Hope Callaghan does a great job Keith the chatacters.
Another great adventure with Millie and the gang. This time it’s a possible crew mutiny and Millie’s friends are suspected of being involved. Their careers are at risk if they can’t get to the bottom of the plot.
The book grabbed me from the beginning. Plot moved along quickly, I hated that it had to end. I love all of hope's books. I'd like a continuation of the plot in the next book if possible.
