I’ve known I was a puppy for a long time, but doing anything about it is impossible. I’m a virgin, so coming to terms with my kinky desires has taken some time. Getting caught with a pup mask on could ruin everything, but it doesn’t stop me from talking to a stranger online. He makes me feel things I never knew were possible, and we’ve never even met … until he invites me to Mischief.
And meeting Daddy in person is a disaster. Hank is the VP of my mother’s company, and if she finds out about us she’ll have him fired. But our chemistry is too hot to ignore and there’s no better feeling than kneeling at my Daddy’s feet. Being together could cost us everything. But how can I keep away when he’s all I’ve ever wanted?
Meet Mischief, a kink friendly community full of puppies, daddies, boys, jocks and more! Fetch a taste of the lifestyle when Arlo and Hank find out forbidden love is irresistible in this steamy m/m romance featuring puppy play, an age gap, and a Daddy who can’t keep away from his pup.
I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but don't disregard Mistaken because of the puppy play. While definitely filled with the deliciously dirty sex scenes I know that Simon Strange will deliver, this novel is way more about the growth of the characters than the puppy play scenes.
While Hank does some soul searching over his relationships and the direction his life is taking, it’s Arlo’s story which really steals the show for me. Between exploring his sexual desires, healing the relationship with his mom, and courageously developing the love affair with Hank, this young man does some real growing up.
Ali Lyda and Simon Strange are building an interesting world around the men of the Mischief community and I’m looking forward to whatever they bring us next.
an audiobook copy of Mistaken was provided for my honest review
I don't know how I missed that this book was out in ebook and only found out when I saw that it's out in AUDIO! HOW! But water under the bridge, here I am now, and happier than ever.
I wanted this book so bad, and I'm really happy that it gave me everything and some more. I had high expectations and it was really good.
I needed some good puppy play book in my life, I can't remember the last time I read about puppies and it's a shame because I love puppies and their Masters/Daddies.
This book was everything, the perfect boss/employee romance with age gap, secrets, BDSM club and some more.
Loved the Daddy/puppy scenes, Arlo and Hank were so good together. Arlo was a cutie pie and Hank the perfect Daddy for him. This story gave all the warm feelings and the emotions came through perfectly. Loved listening to it, and the narrator's voices were really good for Arlo and for Hank too.
I will re-listen to this because the story is so good.
The narration was outstanding in this. I just loved both parts.
The story was really well done, very believable, and had me guessing what would happen until the end. The only sore spot for me was the age gap. From someone who had never been with anyone at all to find someone in their 50's is kind of a stretch. I did love their dynamic and relationship though.
Their connection is so strong but is it strong enough???? Hank had been a member of the an app called Ruff. It was for people who had a kink. A kink where people wanted to be Masters or pups. And that is where Hank met His pup. He didnt know his name and the pup didnt knows his and it work well for them. They had been talking for a while and they got on great. Things were working out well for Hank. He was a part owner of the kink pop up group called Mischief and they liked to call themselves the Mischief Daddies. They would do nights where people could let their hair down. But now the Daddies were talking about finding a building and making it a permanent club but Hank wasn't 100% sure, they would have to really talk about this. Hank was hoping to retire in a few years and maybe this was the way to go. He had been working the same job for nearly 30 years for His boss and very good friend Maria It was a easy life. She knew he was Gay and she excepted him for who he was. But that day she had brought her son into the office and Hank couldnt believe it was the same boy he last saw when he was 10. Maria asked if he could take him under his wing and teach him everything he needed to know. Talking to Arlo was easy and they got on so well. Everything was good for Hank. Arlo had always worked hard to make his mother proud of him, she was always about her business. He hardly saw her growing up and now that she had brought him to her work to one day take over Arlo knew he had to work doubly harder so he didnt let her down. Maria knew her son was Gay and it never bothered her so at least Arlo could date but he had a secret. He had always wanted to be a pup with a master that took care of him. A master that would love him and protect him, and who would 100% except him for who he was. That was why he was on the Ruff ap and he had met someone who made him feel so good. Hank and the daddies had another night planned and Hank invited his pup to come along. His pup wasn't ready to let him know who he was yet but they planned on them wearing masks. A lot of the pups did so he wouldn't be out of place. And when they met it all felt right. They went a spent some time together and everything was going well. Hank had to remove his mask and when his pup turned to him, it was like he got the got spooked because the next second he was running out. And Hank couldnt get to him. What had happened to his pup. Didnt he like what he saw? sis he think Hank was too old for him?? Hank was stumped. Who Hank ever get to know who his pup was and why he ran?? This is a great story. I'm new to this kinda kink but it sure made these two happy. It was great to see how the master and pup worked. Total trust and confidence in who they are. These two are just perfect for each other but Arlo is scared on what his mother will think of him. He needs to build his confidence and his self worth. And Hank is the right man for the job. He is a brilliant man who needs to find out who he is and if Hank is worth the risk?? Omg I really enjoyed this book.

Terrific Story & Narration🎧 Heartfelt & Engrossing!
Mistaken Mischief, Book 2 By: Ali Lyda, Simon Strange Narrated by: Richard Reynolds
Ali Lyda and Simon Strange deliver another great story in their “Mischief” series. They are gifted authors and I am enjoying their writing style as well as the storylines and characters they created. This book is Hank and Arlo’s story, it is an age gap, forbidden type romance. Hank and Arlo meet online, the two share a bond and they are finally looking forward to meeting each other. They settle on meeting at Mischief, an invitation only, secret location Kink club. Arlo wants to wear a mask and Hank agrees to wear one too. The chemistry between the two is smoking, they scene together, Hank had removed his mask and when Arlo saw who he was he freaked out and ran out of the club. Turns out the two know each other, Hank is the VP of Arlo’s mother’s company and where Arlo just start working. Hank had no idea it was Arlo but Arlo knew if his mother ever found out Hank would probably lose his job. I loved how everything plays out in this book, how they wind up sacrificing how they felt for each other for the sake of doing the right thing, with Arlo trying to please his Mom and then Hank leaving to start up a permanent club Mischief. There is never a dull moment in this book, the story is beautifully plotted with plenty of drama, heartfelt and emotional moments, some hot sexy times between Master and his pup, as well as a sweet romance. Thank you Ali Lyda and Simon Strange for another great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Richard Reynolds is a fabulous narrator and voice artist. He brings the characters to life, humanizes them giving each their own unique voice and making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. He does an awesome job portraying the characters, grasping each of their personas and playing their roles with perfection. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all of the character’s emotions and projects them into into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen🎧
Mistaken is the second book in the Mischief series, but it can easily be read as a standalone book. This book is an age-gap romance (about 30 years between each character) that includes a power dynamic relationship that’s full of kinky puppy play and sweetness. If BDSM and kink aren’t your cup of tea, then I recommend you pass on this book. If, like me, you like these themes and tropes, then Mistaken is going to be a real treat.
Arlo is a young man who is being groomed to take over as the vice president for his mother’s company. Arlo has gone to all the right schools, completed all the right degrees, and now he’s being thrust into the boardroom to start his new career. The only problem? Arlo doesn’t want any of this. Arlo doesn’t want to be in charge and he certainly doesn’t want to run a company, but he doesn’t know how to tell his mother this. Thankfully, Arlo has taken comfort from the Dom he’s met on the dating app Ruff. Ruff is a dating app for men who are interested in puppy play and BDSM. The Ruff app has been the only way for Arlo to explore his submissive and puppy desires, but in a defining moment, Arlo and his mysterious Dom agree to meet in person. And that meeting changes everything.
I really enjoyed this book; it was a sweet, kinky book with a lot of hurt/comfort and fluffy moments. I also liked how the authors developed their characters. Arlo, although inexperienced, submissive, and a bit naïve, he still pushes himself and takes on challenges. Hank, although more experienced and much older, doesn’t try to control Arlo, but supports him and his decisions.
The audiobook was narrated by Richard Reynolds who did a great job. Richard has a nice voice that sounded really good during the narrative portions. He voiced each character uniquely and that made it easy to follow along in the story. The audiobook production was well done and made for a great listening experience.
A pup, his master, and a whole lot of naughty (an audio review)
As with the first book in the Mischief series, the pairing is daring. While this is not a professor/student dynamic, there is risk involved. Although not known to each other during their online relationship, Arlo is the son of Hank’s boss. Hank’s good friend. Hank’s confidante. The men’s interactions on the ‘rough’ dating app are hot and heavy, and each is eager to meet the other in person to see if the chemistry is off the charts. When Arlo realizes who Hank is, he flees.
Of course that’s not the end of the story. Eventually Hank discovers the truth and does what all mature adults do – tries unsuccessfully to end a relationship that has come to mean everything to him. Arlo is even more important than the job he’s always loved.
They do go their separate ways and my heart broke a little. Never fear, this is a romance and I got my happy ending. I love puppy play and these two men truly did enjoy their fun together.
As with the first book in the series, this one is narrated by Richard Reynolds. I enjoyed his performance and I’m hopeful there will be more books to come and they’ll be on audio soon.
I love a book that doesn't turn out like you thought it would be...it turns out better. Well this is what Mistaken was for me. I just knew the story of Hank and Arlo was going to end badly with words spoken that cant be taken back or with bad blood between Arlo's mother and Hank. This was the ultimate forbidden love story. I kept on guessing what will happen next during the guys time together that I felt like I was on a rollercoaster...had me on pins and needles(I'm not use to that but it was enjoyable). When I got to the point in the book where I could finally breathe a sigh of relief I was thinking to myself, the authors did a marvelous job keeping the reader so involved that you have to keep going...you need to see the outcome of this good or bad. To say I was shock of the outcome is an understatement. This definitely will keep you engaged from beginning to end. I loved it and can't wait for more Mischief stories.

Secrets tend to come out whether you want them or not. Hank Dane, 53 sends his online pup texts showing the results of his appreciation. He and his pup have been communicating for 6 months. He is VP at Excelsis and works under Maria DeSilva. Arlo DeSilva recently earned his Masters and Maria wants Hank to mentor Arlo. Maria wants Hank to train Arlo to suceed him when he retires as he mentioned he was planning. He used his Dom training and understanding to assess Arlo's reactions to his situation as the son of the boss undergoing training at the company. Hank is one of the founders of the roving kink club, Mischief. What happens when Hank, Arlo, Mischief and Pup are all in the same place together? What happens if Maria finds out? Can Hank keep his job or retire gracefully? Will Arlo take his place? This story keeps a tight grip on your kindle waiting for the shoes to drop. Great story, Hank and Arlo are absolutaly loveable characters. You just hope that Master and Pup find a way to a peaceful balance. Well done! I don't always understand the Master/pup dynamic, but with Hank and Arlo it felt so natural and right. From their steamy online messaging to their explosive first encounter, these men captured my attention and drew me into their story. The struggles Arlo was going through felt so relatable to me, and I could clearly see how being a pup allowed him the freedom and joy he didn't get elsewhere in his life. Hank made such a firm but loving master, and it was a lot of fun for me to see how Arlo had him wrapped around his little finger. I thought the pacing of Hank and Arlo's relationship felt very believable--minor freakouts and second-guessing included. The only complaint I have is that I never got to see how Hank and Arlo made their relationship work out in the open, without hiding from friends and family. Richard's narration was excellent for the entire story, and I particularly loved how shiver-inducing his narration of the steamy bits was.
**I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.
Hank is a master in need of a pup. Arlo is a pup who needs a master. The two decide to meet at Mischief and the sparks are supposed to fly.
Imagine meeting a virgin puppy who is also the son of your boss? Imagine taking up the offer from the man of your dreams online, only to find he is the VP at your mother's company. A potential disaster waiting to happen? The initial meeting did not go according to plan, so what are they to do? Neither can pretend it never occurred.
Reality is in the back of their minds. This love between them is forbidden. Hank could lose his career. Secrets for them both could be all too consuming. Yet their love may be able to conquer all. Should Arlo be worried about his mother finding out? Whether or not she will be supportive of her son and employee?
Nothing is what it seems in the world of Mistaken.

There’s plenty of heat in this book, but that’s not all it is— there’s a solid representation of the community behind the kink, and the sorts of feelings and negotiations behind the scenes.
The couple at the heart of the story, fifty-something CEO type Hank and his love interest, trust-fund wunderkind Arlo, clearly develop solid emotional as well as sexual bonds. It’s hot, and it’s a love story.
While overall, I really enjoyed the book, I can’t say that I liked Arlo very much. I really didn’t. He’s passive in a way that’s both angsty and entitled, and he puts Hank through a lot because…he doesn’t want to disappoint his mother? It’s hard to be an adult? Honestly, I suspect that kinder readers will see more of the nuances of his struggle than I was able to, so I recommend this one without reservations.

Mistaken is book 2 in the Mischief series and can be enjoyed as a standalone. This wonderfully written book has puppy play and an age gap. Arlo (Pup) and Hank (Master) have been talking to each other online but they don't know each other's name or what the other looks like. When they decide to meet in person it doesn't go as planned. It turns out there was something that should've been discussed. I really enjoyed Arlo and Hank together. I like how Hank let Arlo think for himself and not try to control him. I like how Arlo's mother is actually caring unlike in so many books I read where the parents aren't supportive, it was nice to see one that was. I really enjoyed the end when they were at the club and I'm glad they got their happy ending, they deserved it. Definitely recommend.

This was my first look at the pup/Master dynamic and it was kind of adorable. Arlo and Hank have been talking online for about 6 months and finally decide to meet up. What they don't realize is that they sort of know each other in real life already. This causes some pretty uncomfortable but very entertaining situations. Arlo also kind of forgot to tell Hank that he was a virgin....minor detail, right?! I loved how patient and accepting Hank was with Arlo's lack of experience. He genuinely just wanted to enjoy his pup....with or without sex. Arlo was a very eager pup though and wanted to please his Master, in every way possible. Their scenes were sexy and fun. I especially enjoyed their last scene at Mischief.
I listened to the audio version of this book. I am a relative newbie to puppy play and wasn't sure it would be my cup of tea but I loved the first book in this series so took a chance. I loved this entry as well. The puppy play made a serious contribution to character development and presentation and was interestingly presented. I am a big fan of age gaps and romances complicated by issues related to work and those aspects were perfectly woven together here. Richard Reynolds' performance was wonderful. The characters came alive and you felt all the emotions. The performance immediately sucked me into the story and held me there.
This was a great read! Hank and Arlo’s story is so sweet! They’ve been texting as Master and Puppy for six months but have never met so they get a serious surprise when they do! They’ve got a lot of things to figure out! Really loved how things went with Marie! Very enjoyable read! Can’t wait to read more about Mischief!

I really enjoyed Mistaken by Ali Lyda and Simon Strange. Hank is the perfect Master and Arlo is a beginner pup who is looking for answers on who he is and his future. Puppy play is featured in this story. It's the second book in the series and hopefully there will he more. I'll be looking forward to reading them. Highly recommended it you are into reading this kind of story.

Absolutely loved this book in the Mischief series. Arlo and Hank meet on the app Ruff and and share their desire to be pup and Master not realizing they already know each other. Once they make that connection, sparks fly and it becomes harder to keep their secret. Lots of kinky sex. Tough decisions are made that find them parting ways but their love for each other is too strong to keep them apart. This was a great book that I highly recommend.
Hank is looking for someone to settle with. He been texting with a pup for awhile and thinks he might be the one. Arlo has just graduated and he's trying yo find out what he wants but is sure he wants to be someone's pup. He's sure Hank is who he wants but Arlo has a secret that could break them up. I enjoyed this book.
The perfect combination of sweet and kinky, along with a forbidden romance. Not only is there an age gap, but Arlo is the son of Hank's best friend and boss. It is an emotional journey with quite a few bumps in the road but very worth their HEA. The narrator did a good job with the characters and the story. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audio book.
This one didn't work for me as well as the first. I just couldn't seem to like Arlo. I think he just made some really bad choices throughout. Maybe this was his character arc but I'd rather a character be likeable throughout and not just in the final chapters. I am unsure if this series is done but I would at least be willing to try the next one.
Oh my godddd I LOVE pups. Love love them. This series is so angsts and sweet and dirty and just everything. Simon Strange is one of my new go-to authors. So well done, can’t wait for more 👍
I love this series and I love puppy play so I was excited for this story. However I am not a big fan of angst. If you love angst and puppies than this story should be for you.
Wow, Richard has portrayed these characters so very well. The cute little has such a sweet voice. The storyline is written very well. It ticks all the boxes, kink, puppy play, age gap. It’s the book that keeps on giving.
I really enjoyed this book. The story line was great. I like Arlo and Hank and the puppy play. My only issue was the ending. I would have like an epilogue or something but maybe there will be another book and we will get some follow up.
