An idiot prince on a suicide mission. What makes her think she can keep him alive?
After a boar nearly kills him, Max wakes to find his savior is an unsophisticated woman living alone in the wilds of his father’s poisoned kingdom. She’s too wise for her own good, and he finds her odd connection to the animals of the forest more disturbing than reassuring.
When she has the audacity to tell him to rest, Max won’t listen. He’s hellbent on completing an urgent mission to the ancient city of his forefathers and proving his worth to the king.
Artis doesn’t know what to make of the hot-headed man who spent three nights in her bed. He might be pleasant to look at, but he is rude and impatient. And when Max announces his intention to navigate the treacherous world she calls home, he doesn’t want her help, either.
But she knows he won’t survive without it.
If you love down-to-earth heroines with hearts of grace and steel, wayward heroes who love them, and epic adventures that will take them to fantastic worlds far beyond their imagining, look no further…
Artis is a prequel to The Firebird’s Gift series, an epic tale that crosses the boundaries between mysticism, science, space and time.
Includes some sexual situations that may not be appropriate for all readers.
Alex Hayes lives in a castle. Not one of those dark, damp ones in England (or Scotland, even) where it rains all the time, but a white one with the view of a volcano where it’s sunny 364 days out of the year.
She hosts four cats. One white queen. Two black knights. And a ginger jester, famed for her impressive backflips and pirouettes.
Alex is considering turning her castle into a cat sanctuary. It all depends on whether she can find a way to pay the food bills. (If you think she should, buy her books. The cats will thank you.)
When she isn’t writing, she's thinking about what to write next, while working on her tan. (Vitamin D rules.)
She’s a vegetarian (almost vegan) who believes in love not war, feminine power, and enjoys singing (usually quite badly).
This book takes place in /*The Firebird's Gift*/ universe and in the same kingdom as *Beyond the Red Forest*, and tells the story of Max, who is Zera's ancestor and the previous member of the royal family to attempt to retrieve the Firebird's Egg. Shortly into the story, Max meets Artis, who becomes a key part of the story. Please note, you do not need to read *Beyond the Red Forest* to read and enjoy this book.
Artis is the prequel to The Firebird's Gift by Alex Hayes. In this book Max, the kings second son, is sent on a quest. Along the way he meets a young woman named Artis. After that things don't quite go the way he expected. This is a great short read by Alex Hayes that I was fortunate to get through bookfunnel. I am more than willing to review great books like these. This book is available on Amazon.
An intelligent, thoughtful story of a dystopian world, full of crumbling cities, wild places and people all very well described. The story reads very well and make you want to follow the series. A prince on a quest meets a strange woman in the woods. The characters are excellent and the relationship feels real. Excellent. I received a complementary copy via bookfunnel and am leaving a voluntary honest review
