I liked it, but why was it shorter this time? Kinda sad, considering that the special test wasn't that major like it usually is. But it's probably a me thing as I prefer to see action (especially fighting scenes) animated and not described. Though Ayanokouji looked really cool in this one drawn picture.

This volume was a cat and mouse game. Something I definitely like, but it ended too soon and Ayanokouji-kun's enemy was weaker than I thought which was a letdown. With weaker I don't mean the physical strength but rather the weak mindset. It's ironic as this character said that their mindset wasn't weak, but in the end it was.

I still don't really like Karuizawa, but she seems to be pictured better in the light novel than in the anime (or I just have it bad in memory). What I definitely liked was how I could read about not just her external but also internal conflict and her thoughts which were never displayed on the anime. Therefore she seems mentally stronger to me now and I respect that more than in the anime where she seemed like a weak parasite.

I took a moment's break between vol 6 and 7 and I'll tell you this: coming back has either given me a greater appreciation of the series or it suddenly got very, very interesting.

Probably the latter. The student who hides his power is hiding it quite a bit less, even revealing himself to his greater enemies at precisely the right times. And it was quite delicious.

I'm having a great deal of fun.

Personal note:
If anyone reading my reviews is be interested in reading my SF (Very hard SF, mind you), I'm open to requests.

And so the curtain closes on Ryuuen Kakeru’s tyrannical rule in Class C. Wow, that was one hell of a rollercoaster ride. The light novel revolves around Ryuuen sniffing out who the mysterious mastermind of Class D is who they have dubbed as “X”. I didn’t know where this was headed but all I understood was: Kiyotaka wins again. He predicted every single goddamn thing and he’s freaking superior in any way. Compared to the other students, he’s undeniably OP.

As for Karuizawa, I didn’t like her at first but after this installment, I have learned to respect her. But not her choices in men, like come on, Kiyotaka? She deserves someone better, TBH. I get the appeal of Kiyotaka, but I’d rather he stay single for now because I think relationships are the furthest from his mind right now.

One thing I didn’t like, though, was how the author gave Ryuuen a redemption arc at the very last bit of the end. He seemed like a martyr or self-sacrificing after being beaten down that it seemed so unlike him. All this buildup for this wild card for him to just lay over? Sounds really unlike him. I wasn’t a fan of him “sacrificing” himself in the end and relinquishing his power.

Anyway, additional things: seeing Ayanokouji senior, exposing Chabashira-sensei, and involving Horikita Manabu. Plus, Kouenji is crazy but he’s hella entertaining. I think it was confirmed that he’s basically bi, isn’t that right? Also, Shiina is so adorable, I love her !! I hope she and Kiyotaka develop a great friendship.

This is the favourite volume so far. Not only do we get to see a totally different side of the protagonist but also how he thinks 100 steps ahead of everyone. With the new mystery on his past which makes it more intriguing and wanting to read more of the series.

Probably the best volume so far. We get to see a little more of Ayanokoji's past and superiority. Ryuuen finally gets his ass beat. Lots of psychological games. Love it.

**SPOILERS**

Following the events of volume 6, Ryuuen (The main antagonist of these past volumes) starts cracking down on who the mastermind in Class D is. He sends his classmates to tail his main suspects in Class D. In the days during Ryuuen's hunt, Ayanokouji's (The protagonist and narrator) father finally contacts him and asks him to drop out. This conversation allows us to learn more about Ayanokouji's past and his relationship with his father. Ryuuen then pins down a target and makes a huge scene after class. Eventually it deescalates with Ryuuen still not figuring out the mastermind. However he makes a threat to the mastermind by sending him a picture of Karuizawa. On the last day of school after class he follows up on this threat by taking waiting for her on the roof and when she shows up he demands her to tell him who the mastermind is. When she refuses he proceeds to bully her to bring out her past trauma and make her spill. Her spirit isn't broken and it she's been bullied for about 20 minutes until the mastermind, aka Ayanokouji arrives and single handily took care of Ryuuen's 4 lackeys and Ryuuen himself.

Kinugasa uses descriptive language and references to Japanese folklore and culture. He writes in a easy to follow manner that keeps you asking for more. Personally I didn't think I'd get so invested but once I picked up the first volume I couldn't stop. Each chapter has it's own flavor that just builds into this perfect dish that really keeps you invested.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who wants to start reading light novels or those who already do and want a good series. Not just this book but the entire series. While it does start slow it picks up rather quick and by volume 3 and 4 the plot really gets rolling. Not to say the first two volumes are bad, they are good at setting up the story and introducing a world that is completely and 100% believable. That's one of the aspects that I enjoy so much about Classroom of the Elite, is its realistic approach in where you can believe these characters actually exist and this setting is real.

This was the 7th light novel of you-jitsu and in my opinion was the best light novel of them all. Light novels are the books that are the base that makes the manga and anime and this was so exciting. Our main character Ayanokoji from class 1-d finally got his shot at fighting Ryuen and his gang from class 1-c. Ayanokoji showed his overwhelming strength against Ryuen and he did not stand a chance. He also brought in the student council president to make it even more exciting. He then saved Karuizawa from being abused from Ryuen and they were able to experience relief after.

I’ll start this off by saying that this volume is hands down my favorite so far. We get to learn more about the other leaders of the other first year classes, more of Ayanokouji’s past is revealed, and things heat up for Class D. Things just keep getting better with every volume released.

This volume picks up with Class D facing their next special exam: The final exam of the semester. Just as with the previous special exams, this one comes with its own unique rules. I won’t spoil what those rules because it’s always fun learning what challenges Class D is looking to overcome when reading every new volume. One of the best things about this series is that we get to see the characters grow, slowly but steadily.

We see growth in Sudou, Kei (Karuizawa), our mc Kiyotaka (Ayanokouji), and even the usually distant Horikita. Who would’ve thought, from the initial volume that Horikita would be willingly participating in figuring out ways to advance the status of Class D. Now, here we are, six volumes later, and she’s dang near in the center of the decision-making regarding the class. So, where does that leave our mastermind Kiyotaka?

Kiyotaka is called to the principal’s office and who’s waiting to speak with him? None other than Papa Ayanokouji himself. We get to meet the man who made Kiyotaka the person he is today, and man is it a tense meeting. You’d think these two weren’t father and son the way they speak with each other. We get to learn more about the White Room, its purpose, and Kiyotaka’s role in it. We also get to meet the chairman of the school, and learn a few more things about how the school works. I’ve got to say, the school is one of the most interesting characters in this series, which is saying something. This series boasts a bunch of outstanding and unique characters, all with stories I want to learn more about.

After the eventful meeting at the beginning of the story, we see Ryuuen’s hunt for the mysterious, string-pulling mastermind “X” of Class D reach a boiling point. We see his crosshairs zero in on Kei, once he learns that she’s important to “X.” What happens next is reminiscent of Kei’s old days at her previous schools and you can’t help but feel for her. But this is also where her aforementioned growth comes in. Am I irritated it comes due to Ryuuen’s schemes? A little, but I’m glad to see the growth nonetheless. We also see more of Kiyotaka’s schemes play out, which is always fun to see. You never really know if things are going according to his plans or not.

We also get to see another side of Kiyotaka, and if he wasn’t already one of my favorite main characters, he cemented his spot with this volume. Is he perfect? Far from it, but to see where he is now, from where he started… It’s a treat. Watching him grow (definitely slowly but surely), you can’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction as he changes from the tool his father created to something else.
I’ll be anxiously awaiting Volume 8 of the series. I know 7.5 is up next, but seeing as that’ll be a more slice of life break from the usual drama of the series, my hype level is lower for that one. But, that’s mostly because I‘ve already been spoiled on what happens in that volume unfortunately. I’ll still read it once it drops in a few months though. That’s how good this series is.

Ayanokouji vs Ryuuen (Clase D vs Clase C).

The official version is undoubtedly more polished and contains superior prose than the fan translation. But even the revised edition is still overly succinct at times, stripping away nuance, as shown below:

"Heh. My, now you’re saying some pretty interesting stuff. So, you purposefully made it look like I had you in the palm of my hand?”

“To be more precise, you were dancing in mine,” I replied.

vs.
"Kukuku. Now you're saying some interesting things. So you're saying you only made it look as though you were dancing in the palm of my hand?"

"To be more precise, I made it look like I was dancing in the palm of your hand when in fact, you had been dancing in mine."

Additionally, they sanitised provocative lines, undermining Ryuuen's intentionally vulgar and domineering characterisation, which dulled the rawness of the violent confrontation.

“You’ve got all this power, but you keep it hidden?” he asked. “Do you get off on looking down on mere mortals? Does that turn you on? Make you feel good?”

vs.
"So you've been lurking behind the scenes even though you possess this much power. How does it feel? To look down on small fry day to day? I bet it feels as good as ejaculating, no?"

"Mere mortals"? Really? Could they make my GOAT sound any cornier?

The seventh volume of the new school revelation!!

It's mid-December and the second semester is about to end. Ryūen from C-Class is persistently trying to pinpoint the mastermind, X, of D-Class. Even Kōenji has become a target of suspicion. After narrowing down the suspects, Ryūen's demon hands has finally reached Kei Karuizawa... Amidst all these events, Kiyotaka has abruptly been called by Ms Chabashira. Chabashira is showing a rarely faint-hearted expression as she is guiding him to――

"The notification for you dropping out of school has been prepared. The principal has also agreed. All we need is your "yes", to put an end to this."

"Your orders were only absolute when I was still inside the White Room. That room no longer exists so I have no reason to obey them."

Kiyotaka's father is pressing for him to drop out. Then, the school's board chairman is revealing the secret system behind the Advanced Nurturing High School――!?

Wow such an incredible volume. Definitely one of my favorites. I especially loved reading through Ryuuen's POV. And I loved how Ayanokouji felt nothing at all as he beat Ryuuen up.

Ryuuen wanting to drop out so quickly after that felt kind of out of character for him, but once his old friends threatened to drop out if he did, he decided not to drop out which I find rather interesting. So he isn't entirely selfish....huh.

I'm sure that many people will be quick to assume that Kei has a crush on Ayanokouji now, and although that may become true later on, I'm glad she decided not to rat him out for her own sake. She did it for herself, not for him or anyone else and I respect that.

I'm very much looking forward to reading/watching her relationship grow with Ayanokouji though, whether it be more platonic or something more romantic...

This is the culmination of the X and Class C fight, everything in the last few volumes has been building to this and we're finally there, and for all of it, honestly this isn't Kiyotaka's story, its not Ryuens or Ibuki's or even Ishizaki or Alberts.

This story is Kei's and Kei rises up to the challenge magnificantly, her actions on the rooftop are amazing and her determination to not betray her guy is something to shout for joy with. Nothing is left hidden between them now outside of the little thing about his childhood but other than that, it's all roses and I love this. Nothing to complain about. Fantastic!

I like this one so much! What bother me is just how short it is. I have to say, at first I dont like Karuizawa because she bullied another person just because she afraid to be bullied. She also cocky and does not want to apologize when she's wrong. But in this novel, my judgement toward her is increased since she didnt sell out ayanokouji when shes bullied by ryuuen and know she is betrayed by ayanokouji. Ryuuen fight with ayanokouji is also very fun and we know more about how cool ayanokouji is!

This book really re-energizes the series, while 1-6 built up the intrigue into the main characters past book 7 finally provides some pay off to that build up. The MC's main motive for enrolling in the school finally gets revealed, which provides much needed depth to the character. Additionally the author reveals just enough of the MC's past to allow the reader to guess at the background, but no specifics keeping some of the intrigue that has been built up throughout the series. I can't wait to see where this series goes from here.

Really liked it. Several "reveals" in this one that help us start to understand Ayanokouji more. Ryuuen is looking for the mastermind of class 1D who has thwarted him so many times and in a climactic finish he finds out. Kinugasa-sensei probably has the better ending than I'd have given it, however that seems likely to give the series more chances to expand. But that's why I gave it 4-stars because as much as I know that intellectually, emotionally I wanted some justice.

I'll be snagging volumes 7.5 & 8 from the library today. If they're not checked out. I can hardly wait!

Incredible way of handling things...

In this volume we learn more about Kiyopon's past, the different actions all classes are taking, we get a quick shot at some of the school internal mechanisms and also get to see how previous things developed.

As always you may thing you little by little have grown into being able to understand the motives behind the characters' actions, but you will quickly realize that some characters are far to special as to us being able to easily catch on on why they do the things they do.

Give it an opportunity, it won't disappoint you.

supposed to be the best so far, but I got so bored multiple times while reading it - probably because Horikita is not that present and she's literally the only reason why I read this. then I don't know if it's actually a translation problem or a writing one, but the prose... damn. it keeps getting more and more unbearable. full of repetitions and it keeps explaining (usually with the same words) what the character just said or are about to say. that's why also the fight wasn't that exciting to read. (ibuki, still best girl though.)

This is pure satisfaction.
I was waiting for this for so long. And the way it was concluded is quite the unexpected. The writer style of portraying the whole story and beating the antagonist in his own game was the most satisfactory conclusion one can ever get.
The way characters were developed was great. Focusing into a few characters was a outstanding move. To be honest, I believe this was the best novel out of all the previous ones.

The fight was pretty intense. I wonder what the condition Kiyotaka and the former Council President Horikita made. Did Kiyotaka agree to control Suzune if she will be part of the Student Council? And what's the dark past of Chabashira-sensei that she's obsessed with making her class reach Class A? There are plenty of questions left to be answered, but for the most part, is Kiyotaka building his harem? lol

Is this end truly sad or am I disillusioned by the sad music I'm listening to?
What a wonderful climax.
I hate how Ryuuen was redeemed at the end, even though he's just an utter piece of shit
I get why ayanokouji would want to continue using him, but his classmates shouldn't have felt bad for him
anyway
I'm interested to see what becomes of him

The first half of this book was a little slow, but honestly I really enjoyed the second half. Finally getting to see things from the mind of Ryuen was awesome. I really enjoyed seeing Ayanokouji unleash hell on him as well and be so unaffected by it. This was one of my favorite episodes of the show so I really did enjoy reading it.

Nah this was fire!

Ayanokōji and Ryuen face off after kei is kidnapped. To be honest I wasn't a kei fan but she made me teary eyed during this volume. Ayanokōji was ruthless and really made me upset this volume despite is calculated timing. But yeah we get more lore from him and meet godfather which was spooky! Very epic volume though 😎
