WOWOWOWOWOWOWO I LOVED THIS SO MUCHHHHHH

Eui-gyeom had been a top-level student who only lived for school and kept to himself with his favorite Walkman player. His top grades are mainly due to pressure from his dad who wants him to be as great as his brother was in school. All that pressure at home makes him so stressed out and fills him with so much intense emotions that sometimes he hurts himself just to relieve the pressure.

After an altercation with a bully, He gets into a fight and ends up relieving all his stress through that fight. More and more, he ends up having to confront more bullies and we see that this a great outlet for Eui-gyeom. Even he starts to look forward to going to school not to study but to instead fight with more bullies.

From here out, I have to separate my review into 2 parts:

Part 1: Chapters 1-30:

There were so many great moments in this! The art is fantastic and the different fighting shots and angles make the characters look so much cooler. One of my favorite shots was this – the introduction of the High School Super Heroes:

When I saw this scene, I got goosebumps and Mommy Son’s “소년점프” started playing in my head lol.

Some of the lines are cringy and a bit cheesy but its still so funny and calms down the intense feelings you have after watching one of the fights or seeing someone be bullied. The characters also recognize the lines are sometimes cringy – Case in point:

But I love it all the same lol.

Honestly, Eui-Gyeom is great but I think Yoon-Gi might have been my favorite character. He’s so chill and funny and loyal as hell.

Part 2: Chapters 31-60

One thing I noticed was that after the 30-chapter mark, there seems to have been a lot of references to characters in Lee Eun Jae’s previous manhwas. I haven’t read his previous work so I couldn’t really grasp the depth of those character introductions. I’d recommend reading his other works so that you can better understand the motives of each character.

At this point, we get introduced to a new character, Lee Geol-Jae. He’s one of the characters from the author’s previous work. I’d say the introduction of this character was like an eye opener to the reality of what Eui-Gyeom and Yoon-Gi were doing.

We see more and more that as Eui-gyeom gets into more fights, it seems like it is starting to take over his whole life and his identity is now becoming this “high school superhero”. He justifies his acts by saying he is getting justice for the bullies but in all honestly, it seems more like he is getting personal gratification from it.

So in Part 2, I started to look at the actions of Eui-Gyeom differently and he himself was put in various situations where he started to question whether he himself was becoming a bully.

It was a really interesting change in pace and I think the author did a great job in gradually getting us to see that violence may not be the best response to violence.

After we learned more of Eui-Gyeom's relationship with his brother (though I sort of already guessed what their relationship was like), it became more clear to me why he was the way that he was and his frustrations with his father and the pressure to keep studying were so palpable and I definitely could sympathize with him.

All in all, I'm happy with the way it ended. I think it was great and it seems there might be more to come with this character. I definitely think that Eui-Gyeom should get some mental help.

I'd like to end this review with one of my favorite quotes from Eui-Gyeom that really resonated with me:
“너무 힘들면 그냥 도망쳐. 이런 상황에서 도망치는게 부끄러운게 아니야. 널 비난할 사람은 없어. 네 탓이 아니니까”

“If it gets too hard, just run away. (Whenever you’re faced with a bully) running away is not something to be embarrassed about. You are not someone that deserves to be attacked. Because you did nothing wrong.”
