While the rest of her high school friends are heading off to college, Isabelle Ellis is diving headfirst into real life. Well…if Hollywood can be considered real life.
She’s scored the internship of a lifetime with a major production company. And thanks to the script she discovered, she’s certain she can make her temporary position permanent. Even better? The screenwriter might just be her dream guy. Sure, she’s never actually met him in person, but if their email exchanges are anything to go by, he’s her match made in heaven.
There’s only one problem. Her screenwriter crush wants TV heartthrob and Hollywood royalty Henry Landon for the lead role. Signing Henry to the project would be a major coup…but having to work with the unbearably egotistical actor might just be her worst nightmare.
Isabelle thought she was prepared for life in Hollywood and all the drama that comes with the glitter and glitz, but this might just be more than her little film major heart can handle.
Add in four new roommates, backstabbing intern rivals, and the Los Angeles’ public transit system and Isabelle’s new life in La La Land isn’t exactly the dream she’d imagined. Especially when she discovers her screenwriter dream man isn’t who he says he is… And Henry? It turns out the cocky A-list jerk has a heart. But he has secrets too and they could destroy her career goals and break her heart.
But no one ever said Hollywood was for the faint of heart.
What an absolute heartwarmer. I went into this expecting a cute story of teenagers just breaking into the realm of adulthood, while navigating career, family, and relationships. And that's exactly what was delivered.
I thought both Henry and Izzy were cute, and the backdrop of "young adulting" was incredibly wholesome as well. The relationship moved a bit quick for me, but of course, most young love does, so I wasn't too bothered by it. I obviously don't think this relationship was meant to be their forever (I mean, if it is, go them!), so some of the flaws I could easily ignore. Anyway, the characters fit what I would expect characters of their age to be like, and I can't resist a good Hollywood story.
Of course, this isn't an eloquent masterpiece and there's no gripping plot, but if you want to feel the warm and fuzzies, this will probably be do it. It definitely wasn't my favorite book, and I won't be reading it again, but I still enjoyed it.
Solid Tale Of Striking Out On Your Own. Dallen and Benjamin have been writing separate entries in common series for a while now, but this was the first time (at least since I've been reading either of them) that they actually co-wrote a book together. Their styles have been similar enough to work in separate books, and here they blend so well that I'm not sure I could say which author wrote which perspective. Overall the tale is full of the fun-yet-serious approach both authors use so well, and really does do an excellent exploration of two different perspectives on young adults feeling the pull to strike out on their own and see just what they are made of. Very much recommended.
To say it has been a long time since I was thinking about being a young adult is limiting, I’m much closer to knowing you have to be tough to be old, but I do remember enough to know I wouldn’t want to do it again. Growing up and facing the real world is also tough. The world is not always kind and honest and Izzy (Isabelle) is definitely in over her head when she takes an intern position in Hollywood. Henry (Leo) has been raised in Hollywood with the proverbial golden spoon, but at times that seems like a golden noose. Nothing good supposedly happens when two people lie (stretch the truth?) to each other without there being fall out and work being done. I enjoyed watching Izzy and Henry work their way through the untruths to the truth. Christina Benjamin has written a fun story with characters you can’t help but to cheer to success.
The cover of this book seemed fun. And the tittle too. And that’s why I wanted to read it. It did not disappoint. This was just a fun, quick, easy, cute read. And what I was looking for for the weekend.
I was glued to my phone (I was reading it on the Kindle App) for most of the time since I began reading.
I received an ARC of this book. My review is in no way influenced by this.
I truly loved this book about the struggle of making a name for yourself in Hollywood and having to fight to make your dreams come true. But It is also about shallow people who will do anything to get ahead even if it means killing another person’s dreams or livelihood.
Christina Benjamin and Maggie Dallen really wrote a compelling, heartwarming, interesting book and they managed to keep me interested, intrigued and made me feel along with and for our main characters Isabelle and Henry who really had to fight the idealization of the small town girl with the big dream who you can stomp all over and the spoiled A-list “actor” who only got famous because of his parents.
Isabelle and Henry has a very unfortunate meet cute and the next meeting isn’t very lucky either and it is so funny to see their misconceptions about each other. I loved them together, I loved their bickering, I loved their friendship and romance. I basically loved everything except her overreaction in their conflict at the end and that is why I deducted half a star.
I can definitely recommend this book if you like a sweet romance without the steamy scenes but with lots of chemistry between the two main characters, lots of drama but also a lot of fun and heartwarming scenes, a swoon worthy male hero and a strong heroine who knows what she wants and fights for it.

Good one ... that’s it , good characters with some troubled relationship with their parents but nothing really interesting, they are after their dream and all these cheese things , and don’t have sex scenes In this book ...
It's just one hit after another from these two authors. They really know what they're doing with the romance genre, and I hope they do some more co-written novels together.
This book is about a girl who's just graduated high school and has the big ambition of becoming someone who helps screenwriters develop their scripts to become movies. It's her first time in Hollywood, and she's determined to make a name for herself. Henry is a big time actor whose parents have both been in the industry. He has the dream of starring an indie films, but his secret is that he's actually written one. He's submitted it to all the major film companies, but none of them have asked for the script rights. That is until an internship competition leads Izzy to contact him.
It's a good thing he used an alias in place of his real name on the script since the first time they met he was a class A jerk. Funnily enough , he doesn't even remember the encounter. But he's not the only one who's been lying. In order to get him to take her seriously, she exaggerated her title at the film company. But secrets have a way of coming out, and when they do it could destroy the trust they've built with each other. Hollywood is not for the faint of heart, and they are both about to learn that the hard way.
I love the trope of ordinary girl and famous person. I also love the false identity / duel identity stories, which this one had. Leo, the fake name for the script writer, is passionate, funny, and open. Henry is somewhat arrogant when it comes to his celebrity status and what it affords him, but his personality is really Leo behind closed doors. I loved that Izzy starts falling for Leo without ever having seen him before. She's really falling for his personality. And then when Leo forces her to spend some time with Henry and consider him as the lead actor on his film, she starts seeing a different side of Henry. He might not be quite the jerk he came off as. Now the issue is she might be crushing on both of them, and she doesn't know that they're the same person.
This creates a suspense element where throughout reading there's the constant question of will she find out and how will she react. In a way, it makes things less complicated because if they're the same person and she likes them both then she no longer has to choose between them because they are one in the same. But there's also the fact that when he caught her in a lie he called her out on it, so he'd be a hypocrite to have been lying to her this entire time about him using an alias.
Even worse, they're not the only ones with secrets. And the secret that's being withheld from Izzy could change everything and keep her from reaching her dreams.
This book was sweet and heartfelt and even had me laughing and crying at times. I didn't want it to end. These characters are going to stick with me for a while. I love the premise of the story, and the execution did not disappoint. Even the side characters were interesting, and I would love to know more about their adventures in Hollywood as well as what's going on with Fallon at college. I will definitely be keeping my eye out to see if there are any releases set within this world with these characters, but for now I'm just happy to see how everything worked out for Izzy and Henry. I'm going to have a major book hangover.
I receive An ARC of this book. This is a story of finding your voice and also deciding what type of person you want to be. It’s not easy to weigh the cost of choosing your figurative soul versus your dreams/aspirations. This story has some great moments with an epic disaster of a “meet cute,” frustrating lies of omission, and a host of entertaining secondary characters. I truly enjoyed the situational humor and banter with Izzy and her rag tag band of roommates. Henry and Izzy both have to grow individually and wrestle with these questions. This isn’t easy when we have these boxes we place ourselves in. The perceived confinement of both main characters is the epicenter of the drama and later misunderstandings that must be forgiven and forgotten. Each of them have their own set of hurdles to jump and as we take that journey with them it is nice to see their confidence grow and hard work pay off. Our paths in life aren’t smooth or straight and often we have to stop and readjust our view or course correct. I like seeing this struggle in books as the characters have more appeal because they are more relatable. While characters in books are often in fantastic or even exotic settings their quirks, failings and triumphs can be universally understood. I really enjoy how the authors point out the perks and pitfalls of where we come from and how we were raised. For example: coming from money, having name recognition/legacy, or the fact that you start at the bottom all contribute to our attitudes. To acknowledge, to satirize, and even explore these themes bring stories to life and helps us all find a level in which we can relate and escape our own realities even if just for a chapter.

Isabelle Ellis is living her dream. Her friends have all headed off to their freshman year of college but she has headed to LA. She has won an internship with a major production company and if she can get her chosen script chosen, she can turn her internship into a permanent position. She has just the script, she has a great working relationship with its talented screenwriter, and she has a Hollywood heartthrob ready to step into the leading role. But Hollywood isn't like home. Her roommates all look like supermodels, the other interns are like sharks scenting blood, and her own heart is betraying her by falling for her screenwriter and leading man. There's no one she can trust in LA, including herself.
This is an absolutely adorable coming of age story. Isabelle's' journey from a confident teen to an insecure, struggling intern and finally becoming a talented, self-assured young woman with a bright future was completely engaging. Henry's development from the entitled heartthrob into a caring screenwriter was equally rewarding. Their relationship was heart-melting. They made a great team. Isabelle's roommates were fantastic. Carolina deserves her own book.
This book was adorable and I’m so happy I picked it up to read. The title attracted me as I was looking for something simple and quick to read. This book hit the right spot. There were a lot of swoon worthy moments but at the same time there were some great I have strength moments. There were some moments I wish that the main heroine would have stood up for herself a little more but in the end, she made her presence known.
We meet Izzy as she’s off to an internship in Hollywood of all places to work on script writing/development. What a cool job that would be right? Regardless she finds this amazing script and is absolutely devoted to pitching this script and winning the contest for interns. She starts to fall for the writer, who has a name but since they haven’t met is anonymous to her. She also meets an actor who she wasn’t very fond of, until she really got to know him and his adorableness.
This book was just what I needed, and I really liked the relationships that were developed throughout the book. The friendships that blossomed as well as the I love the main characters had for one another.
I will be picking up another book by these authors.
All through high school Izzie pushed herself to be the best and to achieve it all. With that, she managed to graduate with loads saved up credits for college that helped her take an unpaid internship in Hollywood! She used her hard-earned savings to pay for her flights, room, and board in LA while she tries to succeed in her quest to become a screenwriter. Leaving her best friend Fallon and her parents behind she faces the glitz and glamour of LA. What a difference Hollywood is from Iowa!
I found that the characters of Izzy and Fallon were really well written out and solidified in their friendship. Even though they were miles apart they had each others' backs no matter what. Izzy starts out the loner of the group- very much an outsider in this new world. As the book carries on we see Izzy starting to embrace her role and her walls start to crumble. Henry, the male MC is the son of two Hollywood A-listers and wants to prove himself worthy of everything that is thrown at him. By a chance encounter and a case of mistaken identity, these two are thrown together and face the difficulty in proving everyone wrong.
This book was really fun and easy to read. A fantastic page-turner for the summer that will have you laughing out loud and empathizing with the FMC. There are some hilarious bits as well as some heart-warming parts that will leave you happy and content even after you read it.
Izzy is the stereotypical girl from flyover country who wants to make it big in Hollywood on her own merits. Henry is an actor, whose parents are both celebrities, who wants to make it big on his own merits, too. They're opposites with so much in common!
The two end up working together on Henry's script and find that they're sympatico. They have to contend with the Hollywood opportunists, cynics & backstabbers first though.
The story immediately pulled me in & kept me reading. It's not original, but it's certainly very well done! The supporting cast is really fun. I hope we'll get to have the roomies stories, too!
*Clean romance level: passionate kisses, nothing graphic, a character is said to have slept with someone to advance her career
*Language: minimal, half dozen uses of d--- & h---
*Religion: secular, uses the Lord's Name carelessly (ie in vain) a couple of times as OMGs but not as curses, fwiw
I have no idea how the Hollywood screenwriters industry is run but by starting our character out as an unpaid intern was pretty much low on the pole as you'd get.
Izzy comes from hard work and determination. She has a passion. Most of the others were there because their parents or other connections. I liked Izzy's spunk and genuine personality. She was a good person.
Henry was similar but different. An actor who wants to be known for his own work but with famous parents he's being steered into other directions. He needs to speak up or secretly insert his script into being read.
Izzy finds it and loves it.
Deception all the way around. And getting to know two great guys.....
The story is a quick read with no sexual intimacy which was ok. You like a quick breezy read then here you go.
Cute, G-rated, New Adult homage to the movie, "You’ve Got Mail"
Shortly after graduating high school, Isabelle Ellis scores the opportunity of a lifetime to advance her career goal of becoming a screenwriter. She'll be working as an intern in the script development office of a major Hollywood production company. Even more amazing, soon after beginning work, her boss sets up a competition between Isabelle and her fellow interns that’s right up her alley: Whichever intern unearths the best script within the office slush pile will win a permanent, paid position! Isabelle is thrilled because, unlike all the other interns, who’ve spent far too much time partying, she’s made it her business to work overtime every night at home, plowing through every single unsolicited submission the company has on hand. As a result of her dedication, before any other intern has glanced at the available scripts, she’s already snatched up a real gem. Not only that, though she hasn’t met the screenwriter, Leo Lang, in person, she is delighted to learn, through her email correspondence with him, that he’s not only a talented artist, he’s a wonderful guy. Her only complaint is that Leo is determined that the lead, in an eventual production of his script, be played by Henry Landon, a gorgeous, teen, TV star who is the offspring of Hollywood royalty. Isabelle doesn’t know Henry personally, but she’s convinced it will inevitably be a nightmare working with a guy like him, because she cannot imagine that he’s anything but a spoiled, privileged brat. Or so she thinks, until she actually meets the handsome, young actor in person and discovers he’s nothing like she imagined.
This is a very cute homage to the romantic comedy movie, “You’ve Got Mail.” Isabelle and Henry are both very sympathetic protagonists. I especially appreciated that the authors provide their dual point of view so that readers are able to get to know Henry very well. He is a terrific guy, who is well worth knowing.
In addition to their romance, both Isabelle and Henry, individually, have a strong growth arc, as they become confident in their lives as self-sufficient adults pursuing their artistic dreams.
I really enjoyed the subcharacters in this book, as well, especially Isabelle's roommates. I am very intrigued as to whether they will each get their own book.
Though this is a G-rated New Adult romance, there is plenty of romantic chemistry between these two attractive, adorable protagonists. Meanwhile, in keeping with the G-rating, there is no smoking, drinking, drug use or foul language, making this fun novel suitable for all ages.
I rate this book as follows: Heroine: 4 stars Hero: 4 stars Subcharacters: 4 stars Romance Plot: 4 stars Coming of Age Plots: 4 stars Setting: 4 stars Writing: 4 stars Overall: 4 stars

Two of my favourite authors have teamed together and have come up with a cute ,coming of age story. Izzy and Henry are slightly older than the usual high school teens most YA deal with. Set in the world of Hollywood it's the story of two young adults from two very different backgrounds coming into their own in an adult world. Henry is goodlooking , rich and famous but living in his father's shadow. Izzy is a small town girl with big dreams. This internship could give her the boost she needs to become part of the film industry. Both want to prove something to their parents. Nice, clean read which will make your heart flutter. Henry will definitely become your next book boyfriend as he grows on you and Izzy! I received an ARC from Book Sprout.
After high school, Izzie used her hard-earned savings to take an unpaid screenwriting internship in LA. What a difference her four roommates are from her friend Fallon back in Iowa! And Fallon's Hollywood crush Henry Landon turns out to be just as bad as the garbage the teen drama he plays on! But Isabelle is going to make her mark by winning the contest for finding and pitching the best screenplay. Too bad for Izzue the playwright she has been enjoying working with, the one she has chosen and been flirting with while revising his script for the last few weeks wants Henry as the lead. He's even set up a lunch meeting for her to revise her view of him. Wonder how that will turn out? These authors have done a marvelous job of writing a novel I read one Saturday loving every page! Lots of fun and lots of misery before these two bring the HEA ending. I volunteered this review from an ARC and RECOMMEND this read.
When you follow your dreams... and find love along the way... after lots of drama, hijinx, and a heavy dose of mistaken identity, of course! I had a lot of fun getting to know and spending some time with Izzy and Henry. I especially enjoyed the strong theme of friendship - not only with Izzy's BFF Fallon, and the growing friendship with her roomies in LA, but also how Henry and Izzy grow closer over the course of the story.
One of my favorite scenes though was the one where the girls band together to commiserate with Izzy and offer their help - from providing voodoo dolls to... ahem... solving the problem of the offending parties' existence permanently (looking at you, Carolina!).
Isabelle has big dreams, so she goes to Hollywood leaving behind her plans for college and accepts an internship at a major production company. Hollywood is where dreams come true. But can Isabelle's dream survive ruthless competition, lies and deceit? And most of all, can it survive gorgeous, talented.... impossible, infuriating actor Henry Landon?
Since the beginning of the book the story caught me, couldn't put it down. Loved the chemistry of the characters, the banter and the sweet romance. It's a story of growing up, getting to know the world and learning to fight for our dreams.
Loved it!! Henry and Izzy come from two different worlds but they have so much in common. They have a dream and they both end up working together but the down side to Henry being famous is not knowing what’s really his talent or his families fame. Izzy doesn’t have the best impression of Henry but gets to know him in a way no one else has but will his lie blow it all. This was a great read. I absolutely loved Izzy and Henry together and the end was perfect. Definitely recommend reading.
Both these authors have become my go when looking for lighthearted, fun & flirty reads but when they share the spotlight as co-author, the storylines seem to have that added special something. I don't want to give anything away about Henry & Izzy's path & if that path leads to a HEA or not but I will say the storyline flows & leaves the reader wanting more.
While I did receive an advanced copy from the author / publisher via BookSprout, I am voluntarily leaving my own opinion with my voluntary, unsolicited review.
This was a nice and easy read. It showed the determination of Izzy to follow her dreams. And Henry to show his vulnerability even to his father. Along the way they found each other and made each other whole. A really nice read and a beautiful love story!

I loved this book! It brought me back to when I was young! Haha I can’t wait to see what happens next! Once again Christina brings to life very relatable characters, she makes you fall in love with them! The story is the real winner! I promise you will be up all night reading!

This is such a sweet story! I seriously loved it! Henry and Izzy are so great. Their problems and conflicts are relatable, and I enjoyed seeing them finally come together in harmony! This was the first book I've read by either of these authors, but I'll definitely read more!
This story is adorable. Written for the young adult market it is everything sweet, and would also be suitable for younger teens. I wish there were more like it for my tween readers who are just starting to crave romance. This is where Christina Benjamin and Maggie Dallen excel. They are two of my favorite YA authors.
Izzy does an internship with a production company in Hollywood versus starting college in hopes to get a break into the movie industry. She learns real quick that people in that "world" are not always whom they seem to be and that you need to be careful whom you trust! Great YA read!
❤️❤️❤️ Love this story. So enjoyable and sweet. The characters are great and it’s fun to watch their stories unfold. Gotta really fall for Henry and Izzy. These sweet romances are such a nice break from reality.
I loved this book! I've been in a book rut lately, with nothing holding my attention for more than a couple of chapters. But then I found Young Adulting and it was everything I've been wanting and more! I only put it down to go to work and ended up finishing it within 24 hours. I LOVE THIS BOOK!!
I actually thought this was just ok. Cute but for some reason, I had a hard time buying it (like this 20 year old actor couldn’t stand up for himself ever?!?!?). The writing was good and it was cute so most everyone will enjoy it and that’s why I still rated it at 3 stars.
