I only read about half of it, But for a textbook it was not as boring as it could have been.

I had to read through this textbook for my college admission and I found it sooo useful. The concepts in it were so easy to understand, given all the detailed and relatable example, while also being supported with other online materials (articles, videos etc.) I think it could turn out to be quite interesting for anyone who wants to study Psychology in depth.

Read this for PSYC 100 class. It provides comprehensive knowledge about psychology. I believe this was the first edition. There are some mistakes in this book which could be rectified. Otherwise, it's a great book. Having studied Psychology in high school, I already knew a lot of stuff covered in this book and in class. Even though, I got to know so many new things from this book. Skipped 2 chapters (Organizational & Emotion and Motivation) as it would be a lot, of course, to cover everything in one semester. Will read rest of the chapters later in the future. I recommend it to any student who wants an Introduction to psychology.

*Class skipped Chapter 13 & 14
A pretty good and interesting book, as far as textbooks go, of course. I found many subjects interesting but disappointed in the book's lack of explanation or examples. Studying from solely a textbook is incredibly hard, especially when there aren't adequate examples to further increase my understanding of the subject.

A great book which acquaints you with the subject of psychology. In my country, it would be a textbook for “Вступ до спеціальності”. I particularly enjoyed the links to videos and extra up-to-date materials.

Textbooks are NEVER fun to read. At least that’s what I believed till I read this. I have spent the last 4 years reading online textbooks and I can very confidently say that they SUCK, except this one. This book made it so easy to understand the material and it cleanly outlined the topics along with actually TALKING ABOUT THE TOPICS. You think a textbook would be able to do that and the amount of textbooks I have read that do not is absurd. If you are required to read this for class or want to for your interest in psychology I definitely recommend it. Especially because it is FREEEE!!

Okay, so reading a second psychology textbook for this next semesters psychology class makes me realize just how well done this psych textbook was. Maybe it was my outstanding professor, or maybe it was just the plain good, concise and informative content included, but I miss having this as my textbook. If only my abnormal psych textbook had a hint of the clarity, reason, and quality of the information included in this one. Maybe it is also the hindsight of loathing the current one, but I highlighted the hell out of that textbook and read it quite in depth, and recall having the same conclusion even before having to read a textbook abysmally worse than it. Yes this is a diss to the current textbook as well as praise to this one, and that may be bad taste but gods does the textbook make or break the reflection paper writing process. Writing this is literal procrastination for that task. Anyway, thank you.

OpenStax's Calculus Volume 3 (read it for MATH 213 this past fall at College of the Canyons) is much higher quality. Lots of typos in this one; see the errata page for a taste: https://openstax.org/errata/?book=Psy.... Still, thankful for these free online textbooks and hope they keep improving.

For what it's worth, the book did get the job done — comfortably on track for an A in CoC's PSYCH 101. We skipped Chapter 13, on Industrial-Organizational Psychology.

Super informative and easy to read. It gave the key words at the end of each chapter, which was a godsent for writing notes.
Definitely would recommend this book if you're taking general psychology or psych 101
I would even recommend this to AP psych students in hs, as it's the same content on the test, but 10x more understandable than the textbook Collegeboard makes you read.

I also greatly enjoyed my college psychology class, so that may have heavily influenced my opinion, but i still think you should check it out

The content was fine. However, two issues came up:
1. The writing quality was poor. The writers used too much hedging (words like "maybe" "perhaps" "probably" etc. This led to a dry reading experience.
2. Sex was in every chapter. Is sex a part of our psychology and decision making? Yes, of course. But, it need not be incorporated into every chapter. Part of this is due to the field of psychology as a whole (looking at you Freud).

Actually read this textbook for class, not skimmed. OpenStax really has the voice, information, and examples down to a digestible format. Not one to review textbooks normally, but I was grateful as a Psych 100 student that my class used this as our textbook. Saved my wallet and learned so much.

Such deep history of how the field of psychology came to be and detailed research as to what psychology is, then applied to other things like society, economics, and living.

Interesting read.

this book is helpful, as its psych 101 but it’s horrifically outdated. Some of the language and terms are inappropriate and inaccurate. needs updating and this version should be out of print.
