Aliens, abductions and adventure, OH MY! I was asked to review The Atlanta Incursion by the author and purchased it with my own personal funds.

After a disaterous summer, our protagonist James is looking to forget. A new college atmosphere, budding romance and fresh start is all he will need to put his past behind him. But something is wrong in Atlanta, and SOMETHING is happening to James. He is shocked to realize that the battle has not been won.... in fact, it has just begun.

This was AMAZING! I was worried that the sequel to THE THING IN THE WOODS would not shine as bright as the first installment, however it was EVEN BETTER! The character arch, setting and gory imagery spun together to make a fast paced, gut wrenching, wild ride of an adventure!

As this is a sequel I recommend starting with The Thing in the Woods and progressing on to The Atlanta Incursion. Highly recommend!

The Atlanta Incursion is the sequel to The Thing in the Woods which just happens to be one of my favorite reads on 2022 so far. While the first book is more Lovecraftian horror, TAI is more of a science fiction horror novel, so in being so is the perfect book for me!

The Atlanta Incursion follows the same main character as The Thing in the Woods as he moves from small-town Georgia to Atlanta to start a more independent life. A few of the usual suspects are in this book as well. There is also an incredibly fascinating homeless character that brought more depth to the story, and gave us another character to root for against the "grays" (read the book for further details on the grays).

This becomes an alien invasion story rather quickly, and I fell for it within the first few pages. James and his friends decide to investigate the strange goings on, and James realizes he may have gained some extra powers during his battle from book one. The action in The Atlanta Incursion is relentless, fun, and compelling, as are the investigation scenes.

Mr. Quinn may have outdone the first novel of the series, but I am glad I don't have to choose. I highly recommend them both. I can hardly imagine anyone reading the first and not wanting to continue with James' story.

Highly recommended!

The author provided me with an e-book copy of this novel, but this is an honest review.

I enjoyed the continuing coming of age story of James and Amber, just not quite as much as in the previous book The Thing in the Woods. James and Amber are dealing with the psychological effects from battling a primordial horror. They also have some relationship hurdles to overcome.

This novel is a science-fiction story in which the characters defend the city of Atlanta from an alien invasion, which makes it quite a pivot from The Thing in the Woods (which was a modern fantasy/horror story). We get new characters with Javion and more of an emphasis on the government agents (who are basically the Men in Black). Similar to the first book, I enjoyed many of the pop culture references in this novel. I also liked that the author mixed in some political issues (dealing with racism, sexism, anti-Semitism, economics, etc.).

Overall, the book is a fun sci-fi adventure story in which the characters have to survive while fighting off an alien invasion. If that’s your cup of tea, then I think you’ll also enjoy the story.

Let's talk about The Atlanta Incursion! This sequel to The Thing in the Woods was a book I didn't expect to have the privilege of reviewing, but I'm thankful to have it.

I really enjoyed The Thing in the Woods, a back-woods creature horror with a Lovecraftian beast. I liked Quinn's writing style in the first, but was delighted to see an improvement in this sequel.

In a way, The Atlanta Incursion is a departure from The Thing in the Woods. In a nutshell, we get to see more of some previous characters, we get new characters, and new baddies that connect to our old one in a really cool way. Whereas I think I prefer The Thing in the Woods (it felt more small-town-claustrophobic, which is just my favorite type of horror story) The Atlanta Incursion expands this story into a saga that feels large. I mean, how much bigger can the story get from aliens? And regardless, I'm really excited to see where this series goes in the future.

These books are fun, quick reads, and easily accessible on Kindle Unlimited if you're up for a day or two of monster reading!

I received an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

A novel interpretation of the alien invasion genre. It's called "The Long War" but I wouldn't be overly worried by the Book 2 aspect, since arguably you could read this one without having read the first book "The Thing in the Woods" which tells a more contained story. Some fun shoutouts to pop-culture (whether it be the Men in Black or the X-Files) and a solid plot for an alien incursion in Atlanta. A longer review is forthcoming.

Good sequel

A fun story well told. Obviously told at the young adult level, it had aliens described as advanced but not supernatural. This was a good old fashioned warfare story with a multi dimension aspect.

After the events of The Thing in the Woods James Daley is attending Georgia State University, dating Amber Webb, and living with his best friend Eli Schwartz. James is dealing with nightmares about what he faced in the woods, but now he is starting to see visions of a new kind of threat right there in the heart of Atlanta.

I really enjoyed this sequel quite a bit. There is a lot of action with a great setting, and of course great otherworldly antagonists. If you are a fan of battles and adventure then this book will be for you. This is a great novel for fans of science fiction horror.
