An apothecary in Italy in the year 1560 has two problems: How to sell poison without being caught, and how to stay alive while causing others to die. A powerful Court Official, Da Brescia, arrives demanding poison. A rival covets both his job and his young mistress. The frightened apothecary fears death whether he says yes or no and swears he is not guilty of dealing in poison. Da Brecia insists he will watch unseen and let the apothecary prove his innocence—if he can. The mistress appears and demands poison—for Da Brescia's wife. The next caller is the wife—who seeks poison for Da Brescia.

Under threat of death, the apothecary yields to all of them. Then a curious discovery is made. The would-be murderers didn't get poison, but they do get, and the audience with them, a humorous climax, a guaranteed antidote for—shall we say, poison?

About the author

David Campton was a prolific British dramatist who wrote plays for the stage, radio, and cinema for thirty-five years. "He was one of the first British dramatists to write in the style of the Theatre of the Absurd".

In performance reviews of productions of Campton's play The Lunatic View: A Comedy of Menace and The Birthday Party, by Harold Pinter, published in the short-lived British drama magazine Encore, drama critic Irving Wardle borrowed the term "comedy of menace" from the subtitle of Campton's play, popularizing the term "comedies of menace".

Biography

Campton was born in Leicester, in 1924. He was educated at Wyggeston Grammar School for Boys. From 1942 to 1945, he served in the RAF, and then, for another year, in the Fleet Air Arm. He worked as a clerk in the City of Leicester Department of Education until 1949 and then moved to the East Midlands Gas Board, where he worked until 1956. Campton worked with Stephen Joseph in developing theatre in the round in Britain and played a major role in establishing theatre-in-the-rounds in both Scarborough, North Yorkshire (now in the well-known Stephen Joseph Theatre, a converted 1930's Odeon cinema) and Staffordshire in the English West Midlands. He worked as writer, actor and also regularly ran the box-office and front-of-house. Campton always credited himself with giving a young Alan Ayckbourn one of his first jobs at Scarborough with the immortal words, 'watch me my boy and one day you might become a playwright like me!' Ayckbourn later became Artistic Director of the Stephen Joseph Theatre and an internationally renowned playwright. Campton was always keen to encourage those interested in drama, even amateurs. At age seventy-six, Campton directed and appeared in one of the plays he had previously written for Stephen Joseph at Scarborough, Passport to Florence, with a group of amateurs, ACTWS, in Leicester. This may have been his final performance on stage.

إذا كنت (جبرتو) تعمل بائعا! للعقاقير 💊💊 و أراد مأمور قضائي (ألبرتو)👮 أن يترقي في عمله بظلمك و بنسب تهمة لك (بيع السم) لم تقم بها ؟؟ فماذا ستفعل
و إذا أتاك ثلاثة أشخاص يعرفون بعضهم البعض(ألبرتو ,جانيتا و فيولانيتا) ليشتروا منك السم ليقتلوا بعضهم البعض و أجبروك على هذا و هددوك برغم إعتراضك فماذا أيضاً ستفعل؟؟
شئ واحد فقط : شرف المهنة أن تبيع الدواء لا أن تبيع السم
و بدلاً من أن تعطيهم السم تعطيهم أكسير الحب
لكي تتبدل الكراهية بالحب
ليس شرطاً أن تخبرهم بذلك
و عليك أن نغفر لمن يسيئ الظن بك فأعمالنا هي خير دليل على حسن نوايانا
و علينا أن نزرع الخير حيثما حللنا

قصة هزلية عن شخص بيمتلك معمل لتحضير العقاقير، حظه السئ بيوقعه في موقف صعب بين أحد رجال الدولة وزوجته وعشيقته، وبتنتهي القصة بشكل مضحك...
حبيت دور اميليا الخادمة اللي قامت به رفيعة الشال، ولسة مش متخيلة أن زوزو حمدي الحكيم دي هي اللي اتكتب فيها قصيدة الأطلال، بس ما علينا.

مسرحية فكاهية من فصل واحد
عن كيميائى
بيصنع ادوية الاسهال والامساك و المنشطات الجنسية ...و السموم
قاعد فى قبوه "معمله"
بيطب عليه ممثل القضاء ..ينكشه و يستدرجه بحجة انه زبون و عاوزه يصنع له سم...يتردد ثم يرفض فيفصح الاخر عن صفته فيرتعد الكيميائى
بعده مباشرة تجىء عشيقة لعوب لرجل ثرى مشهور عاوزة سم ل زوجة عشيقها و تنقده الثمن قبلة و يعطيها قارورة
بعدها يجىء الزوج الثرى نفسه
بعدها تجىء زوجته فيختبىء الزوج تهدد الزوجة و تطلب سم اسرع لقتل زوجها و عشيقته فيعطيها قارورة
بعدها يخرج الزوج من مكمنه و يطلب هو الاخر قارورة لقتل زوجته بعدما سمعها تتآمر عليه فيعطيه قارورة
و اخيرا تنزل زوجة الكيميائى المعمل و تتذوق ما فى القارورة
لتجد ذهول و خوف زوجها لتظن ان ما تناولته هو سم فإذا به ......... :)

الشيء الساخر أن الحب يمكنه أن يكون سُمًا أيضا، أكثر فتكًا من سم ينهي حياة جذريًا، فهو موت بطئ زاحف، يمكنه التهامك حيًا، يدهس مشاعرك ثم ينخر مبادئك ويمكن أن يغيرك للنقيض وبأسوأ الطرق الممكنة.

مسرحية فكاهية يمكنها أن تكون فلسفية كذلك، كيميائي أو صيدلي يصنع أدوية الأنفلونزا والأسهال والمنشطات الجنسية، معمله في قبو وسط الظلمة.

يأتيه ممثل القضاء يستجدرجه ليبع له سمًا، يرفض ويناطح فيقرر الاختباء حتى يأتي الزبون التالي وإذا آتي ليشتري سم سيبع له، تأتي عشيقة ممثل القضاء الثري كي تشتري السم لأجل زوجة عشقيها، بعدها تظهر الزوجة لتشتري السم لأجل زوجها الخائن الذي كان يشتري لأجلها السم، وبدلًا من السم يبيع أكسيرا الحب!

شيء ساخر أن يكون الحب سمًا هو وصف جيد.

مسرحية جيدة، ربما فكرة تقليدية قليلًا وبها شيئا من التوقع لكنها جيدة

ان تصنع سماً فتكتشف ان هناك الكثيرون يريدون سرقته لبعضهم البعض، كل واحد يريد ان يسمم اخر..

مسرحية فكاهية من فصل واحد تحكي قصة كيميائى يصنع الادوية، يطلب منه شخص ان يصنع له السم، ولكن الرجل يكشف انه من القضاء ويرحل الرجل ليأتي بعده أمرأة هي عشيقة رجل ثري، تريد السم لزوجة عشيقها، وعندما تذهب يحضر الرجل الثري نفسه يريد السم، وعندما تحضر زوجته يختفي الرجل فتطلب السيدة الزوجة السم لتستخدمه ويكون اسرع لقتل زوجها وعشيقته، وبعد رحيلها يخرج الثري ويطلب سماً اسرع من السم السريع.

وبعد رحيل الجميع تنزل زوجة المعملي وتشرب ما في القارورة لنجد انه كان يبيع اكسير الحب بدلاً من السم.
