I just happened to come to the conclusion that reading about an ex-soldier suffering from PTSD and a mental health institution refugee getting it on would be an exquisite way to lull me into sound, baby sleep. What could possibly go wrong, right? 😇

Turns out the girl hates being tied up and our knight in shining armour feels outrageously furious due to the fact that someone else accomplished doing precisely the thing he himself intended to do not a minute earlier.
Please, I see no contradiction here. ✋
My pulse clamors in my ears as I retrieve a length of rope from the shed, dragging it behind me on the way to her room. “Open the door.”
A long pause. “No. I’m sleeping.”
My brows draw together. We both know she’s awake. “It doesn’t sound like it.”
Several beats pass. And then she pretends to snore.
Something heavy turns over in my chest. I think…I think I find her pretense amusing. And adorable. Now I’m even more determined to make sure she doesn’t run from me.
I know it's morally wrong to laugh like a maniac 5 sentences after the scene where the innocent girl gets brutally fucked doggy style without any preamble by the horny stranger who decided that raping a girl would be a perfectly acceptable therapeutic means of calming down after a PTSD induced nightmare... self-therapy and all, but I did, because wtf am I reading? And why?
In my defense, I have to say that the grotesque quality this book oozes off does that strange things to your brain.
“One last chance to open the door, girl.”

A laugh threatens, but I shake it off. Step back and kick the door in.
She screams, scrambling on the rumpled bed and shielding her nakedness with a pillow. Her mouth opens to question me, but then she spies the rope and it snaps shut. “What…what are you doing?”
“I can’t have you leaving while I’m out buying an apology.”
Forcibly retain a girl in order to later buy her forgiveness ? Makes perfect sense. 👍🏻Just like the rest of the story. 😊
This thing Jessa Kane wrote was a wild, ridiculously grotesque piece of art (forgive me this blasphemy) that smacks you right in the face with its perfectly logical storyline, believable situations and deep, thought-provoking ideas. 💯

It was finally time to satisfy my Jessa Kane curiosity ... so I started this book randomly.
What I expected to get:

~ did I mention that these characters are completely unhinged? One of them is literally on the run from a mental institution

I picked up this novella because I have been wanting to try Jessa Kane’s work for a long time and because of my friend K's fabulous review.
I’m not a huge fan of insta-lust or insta-love, but I don’t mind it in novellas considering there isn’t time for the build-up between the main characters. And Jessa Kane from what I know is an author who specializes in these types of novellas so there is insta-lust and insta-love in many, if not all, of them.
His Summer Intern was no different as it includes insta everything. Caleb Daniels is around 30 years old and lives in a cabin in the woods after being discharged from the military. Juno is 18 years old and on the run from her past. She stumbles over Caleb’s cabin in the woods and he lets her into the cabin because he mistakes her for his intern who was supposed to show up on the same day.
Caleb and Juno’s connection is instantaneous and instinctual. Something from deep within Caleb recognizes the broken girl in Juno and the same part within Juno recognizes the safety and protectiveness in Caleb. Even though they know nothing factual about each other, they can’t avoid the awareness and attraction between them. Caleb’s need to possess and own matches Juno’s need to be taken and protected and their compatible sexual desires leads to blazing sexual chemistry.
Overall, while this novella wasn’t as steamy as I was expecting it to be, it was still smutastic! If you are not a fan of dub-con, I would recommend avoiding this novella. If you like dub-con, age-gap, and for your heroes to be alpha, possessive, and obsessive, give this one a shot! I will definitely be reading more of Jessa Kane.

There’s a connection between us and it vibrates like a tuning fork, making me aware of every twitch of his fingers. If he exhales a touch too roughly, every hair follicle on my neck stands at attention. What has Caleb woken up inside of me?

Overall, while this novella wasn’t as steamy as I was expecting it to be, it was still smutastic! If you are not a fan of dub-con, I would recommend avoiding this novella. I’d say that I don’t understand why this was banned/removed on Amazon, but… yeah… I can’t say that 🤣. I know EXACTLY why it was 🤣, and I ate it up like it was the last meal I’m gonna eat 💁🏻♀️.
June’s (18) running away from something/someone when she comes across a house and a huge man, Caleb (30ish) who confuses her for someone else. She pretends to be the assistant he’s been waiting for, but he really knows she’s not 👀.
Caleb can’t believe his luck. This beautiful girl has come into his property. He’s instantly enthralled and pretends to think she’s the assistant he hired. Being an ex-military who’s seen his fair share of tragedy, he suffers from PTSD. Maybe this woman’s gonna be the cure to all his problems 👀.
What I liked/loved: possible spoilers
—the unhingedness 😅. In typical JK fashion, we get an H who’s OTT obsessed with his woman, and Caleb is OBSESSED 👏🏻. He sees. He wants. He gets 💁🏻♀️

This idk.. i didn't really enjoy it it was meh.. the way the hero was had me cringy. Like.. i went 😬 when I read it. But for those who wanna read. Juno escaped from a institution due to her abusive lying mother telling them she was ill, so running in the woods she meets Caleb when be thinks at first Juno is the new intern he hired but deep down he knows that isn't 'Sarah' but he doesn't want her to leave so he lets her keep the lie. Now they both have that tiny secert and hoping nothing bad happens (it doesn't;))

Haha, well it is what it is for only being 50 pages long! Had it been about 100 pages longer, I think it could have been an interesting sexy story!
I had no idea it was only 50 pages long or I would not have downloaded it. There’s absolutely not enough page time to create anything remotely enticing in the way of an actual story. (Which is why I’m not a fan of insta-love)
So what you have is 90% smut and 10% of story that takes place in a 24-hour period. The hero actually knows deep down in his big heart, that after 10 minutes of knowing the heroine, he loves her and is never ever never letting her go. And if she tries to leave him, he will chase her ass down, and drag her back by her hair, and she will welcome with open arms (and legs!).

I just sat the most mind-numbing, soul-shattering, will-breaking exam ever created on the face of this Earth- so like any other

I decided to read a Jessa Kane book.
This was probably the wrong book to read in my already fragile mental state, because this was WILD 🤡☝️ - but I still ate up every single second of it.

I really liked this one. Caleb was so growly and wild around Juno and I loved it! He will do anything and everything to make Juno safe and happy, and I really liked that.

Non-Con , insta love story with cringey psychopathic dirty talk and literally insane characters. Not for me.
I hated the MC. Actually hated him. He took advantage of the fmc.
1) If we don't believe the Fmc's story, that means she's legit crazy....... meaning no love.
2) If we believe the Fmc's story, then she was psychologically and medically abused her whole life and probably doesn't know what's what in the real world .......again, no love.
While I like reading dark romance and non-con stuff, this book will def not be included in that list.

I am not gonna lie and say i did not enjoy this.

(First of all lmao I feel like all my reviews of Jessa Kane books start with a warning)
Warning: Dubious consent situations. If that makes you uncomfortable (like it does me), I suggest you don't read it. The whole "it isn't harassment if you like it" doesn't sit well with me, and never will. So, yeah. Don't go into this blind like I did!! We love an alpha man respectful of boundaries. A red light is a red light, not a fkn yellow light. Not a green light. And definitely not an invitation to force her even if she likes it because YOU HAVEN'T HEARD HER SAY THAT.
But god. God. I don't know whether I hate Jessa Kane's books or love them to death. I think that's part of the charm. Questionable and Taboo situations but ones that you cannot help but love. His Summer Intern is now in my favorites of Jessa Kane reads - She’s Too Young will always be top, but this is a very close second to that awesome duet. ;)

I loved this story. Juno and Caleb were a hot as sin couple. I liked that Caleb knew right away that she wasn't who she said she was but let her to around to telling him on her own. This book automatically goes on my re-read shelf for when I need a burst of serotonin.

I felt Uncomfortable reading this , the H was creepy , I thought after marrying the h and having kids he will cool down but 🤦♀️ he was insane ! The epilogue was ...weird !
Why 2 stars and not 1 ? Because I can't stand child abuse it disgusts me and it piss me off 😔 so I am glad she found love and peace with him (however that love was )

This is your usual yummy smutty. Don't look too deep and just enjoy this fiction romance. However, the conflict could be better. Something with more stakes.

She ends up outside a cabin in the woods belonging to Caleb (late thirties?, has PTSD). Caleb had hired an intern to come and stay with him for two weeks while he’s writing a book. When Juno shows up at his door, he knows that she’s not the intern, but he’s desperate to have this girl and let’s her believe the mistaken identity lie. You just have to read it to understand that part. Anyway, in the throws of a nightmare, he wakes and takes her. He’s crazy insane with her. Eventually, they have a lot of kids and move away for their HEA.
It's short and straight to the sex. It’s not romantic sex. It’s pounding, aggressive sex. I still enjoyed it.

Heroin runs always from a mental asylum and the police is looking for her through the woods, she stumbles upon a house and the Man that owns the house accepts her by creating false scenario to support her and have a solid reason for her to stay even if it’s a lie he doesn’t want her gone and lost again. He is a former Military soldier using writing a fictional book as a coping mechanism to take out his trauma and PTSD issues. He ends up falling for her and writing about her to deal with his issues. Rina Kent’s books are just so easy to get into, mainly because of her characters and her possessive and caring male characters.

Jessa Kane...you are AMAZING!
I just read this book and I am going to start over and reread it! Yes...its that good. I thought I had read some obsessive, alpha male books before, well this one takes the cake. It's as if Jessa read my mind and picked out the perfect male that I think of for books. This is why she is my number one favorite author and that is a super competitive list. She leaves you satisfied and wanting more.

Big fan of Jessa Kane books and she didn’t disappoint with this one. Ok its just a dark enough. Sexy and a little carzy. And I totally loved it. Safe sexy read
