USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.
Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.
In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,
Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.
Running on the momentum from volume 1, I dove straight into this one and got what I expected. Things aren't going well in many of the expected ways for a new lottery winner as people come out of the woodwork for a piece of the pie.
It was also very uncomfortable to watch as Mallory starts making premature spending decisions. As is usual for many lottery winners, they don't come from money and aren't great at managing their money. That's why they play in the first place. And when such a person receives a windfall, they don't magically receive a bunch of financial know-how along with it.
This volume was full of foreboding and dread for me as I watched Mallory spend large amounts of money before even receiving any of the winnings. This book did a great job of setting flags for the second act low point often seen in stories.
I'm fairly confident this series is leading to a happy ending, so I'm eager to get to the payoff of all this suffering. However, I expect the next volume to continue and probably increase the tribulations. There might be a few fleeting moments of success on the horizon, but I don't expect the first true ray of sunshine until late into part 4.
These daily serial sets are always enjoyable. In this one, Mallory Green is working three jobs to take care of the bills she has amassed with her husband. She thinks she finally has caught a break. But things don’t quite go as she thought they would.
This is part 2 of 6 part daily serial, part two is August.
Loving the concept of this daily serial, in LOTTERY GIRL, a young woman (Mallory) who's unlucky in life, in love, and in fortune hits the jackpot! But can money truly buy happiness?
I'm very much enjoying Lottery Girl so far, there’s plenty of drama and entertaining moments, although I do think Mallory is being far to hasty, making big purchases and making way to many changes in her life too soon. Got to the end of part 2 and given the cliff hanger, things are definitely starting to heat up, but not in a good way.
I love that they are short, quick reads, heading straight into part 3 which is the month of September.
I love these serials from Stephanie Bond. They follow a formula, but it’s an enjoyable formula. There’s always a downtrodden young woman who doesn’t understand her attraction and her capabilities. Then, with help, fortune finds her. With the help of those friends, she fights her way through to win in the end. Even though I know the formula, I find myself waiting impatiently for the next installment. I always want to find out who the truly good guys are who will help her.
This is a fun daily serial for the months of July-December. This book is for August. Mallory doesn’t have much luck in relationships or with finances. But things change when she wins the lottery! See how her life changes (some of it good and some not so good).
Very good second part. Winning 52 million was crazy, then things escalating very fast for Mal. She didn't have time to catch her breath, before things turned ugly, i.e. the cliff hanger. Good serial and I would highly recommend it.
Rusnak Porsche, Audi, Jaguar, Bentley, Rolls Royce in Pasadena California is the first place I would go to if I won the Lotto! Great novel. You had to know what was coming since the author dropped little hints here and there. Can’t wait for part three.
What a way to knock a girl down hasn't she been through enough. Being sued for being lucky is harsh. Verbal contract shouldn't be accountable. And Trent he's a real piece of work. He didnt care about Mallory
I started this series right after reading Factory Girl. I only read two of the six. They were fun, but I HATE the way the entire book - one book - is released as six parts on Kindle. What a pain! It wasn't worth continuing, actually.
This second chapter of Mallory’s lottery winnings is so indicative of what happens after winning. People come from out of the woodwork and want something for nothing.
