What's the point of talking about success if we are homeless? What's the point of positive affirmations if we just lost a loved one? What do we do when we are out of options? How do we manage when society is against us? What if we are deceiving ourselves, and we don't even know it?
These topics have no easy answer, but at the very least, we know that we aren't supposed to give up. We have to somehow navigate the obstacles and be ok with failures. Inside this book is a series of short takes on some of life's most difficult problems.
K.Ira writes to share an open-minded perspective. After bad high school grades and being a community college drop out, K.Ira worked in various professions from gas station clerk, janitor, door-to-door sales person, military and more. Slowly failing forward, K.Ira now holds a Master's degree, owns and operates two companies and has a passion for personal development, artificial intelligence and philosophy.
This is the first self help book I have ever read, and it read a lot like a text book. I can’t say it was entertaining, which is the usual metric I use in evaluating a book. But it provided some good insights for evaluating and improving your life. Fortunately, as a 70 year old, I have had the opportunity to apply a lot of these insights in my own life, on my own, in my own time. And they can help you to succeed in life. I can’t say I agreed with everything in the book, but you need to identify what works for you and go with it. My biggest problem with the book was having a title for every grouping of several paragraphs. I could not find any continuity in my reading, which is a fail on my part. Just remember that you can usually learn more from your failures than from your successes.
I received a copy from a Goodreads giveaway. Realistically I would give this 1.5 stars...I rounded up out of generosity. The blurb and title left a lot to be desired between the covers.
It felt as if someone took random, meandering blog posts and published them as a book. If you've routinely felt like life has served you lemons, maybe you'll relate to the bottom of the barrel examples provided in each "chapter". If you have even an ounce of optimism or resilience, skip this book.
Just as the title states, this book is about life and lessons. From not giving up, to steps to becoming a better person, to getting rid of the negative and hate-fueled responses on social media. This is a great guide on how we should treat ourselves as well as others. #GoodreadsGiveaway
