Rosavia Royals #2

Reign or Shine

Rate this book
A secret prince a lost tourist to save.
Prince Cassander is on vacation from his overdeveloped sense of duty. While hiding out as simply 'Cas' in the Rosavian capital, he rescues a gorgeous, distressed American tourist. Matty has no idea that Cas is second in line to the throne. And with only two weeks together to explore the sparks between them, he doesn't need to ever find out.
New Yorker Matty Doyle is a fish out of water, taking care of his niece and mending his broken heart. When Cas rescues him, the handsome stranger coaxes Matty out of his shell and he throws caution to the wind. Nobody knows him here. Would it hurt to live a little for once?
But a prince can't stay secret in his own country for long. Cas would give anything to protect Matty from reality, but how can this fantasy together continue when they belong in different worlds?
Welcome to the tiny European country of Rosavia, where roses ramble over alpine slopes and princes fall for the men of their dreams. Every Rosavia Royals book happens simultaneously, so books can be read on their own, or in any order... but keep an eye out for familiar faces around the palace!

I liked this book much more than book 1. The insta love between Cas, second in line to the throne, and Matty, American tourist transporting his young niece to a summer archery program, was fairly believable.

The word "sweetheart" was overused and the dialogue bordered on cheesy, but the MCs set the sheets on fire.

A pitch-perfect ending rounded out this cute, sexy story. Bonus: Unlike the first book, this story had few internal monologues.

Reign or Shine was my first book by HJ Welch. I'm a sucker for a good royalty romance, so I was looking forward to it.

It was cute, very insta-lovish, and I don't mean this in a bad way, it was also simplistic. If you're looking for a quick, feel-good story, then dive right in.

Another cute instalment to this series.

I liked it a lot and it worked pretty well for me. While is wasn't "instalove" for Cas and Matty, it was pretty close to it but I went into the book expecting that so it did not rub me the wrong way. It actually kinda worked for me since I suspended belief and went along for the ride quite happily. Lol

One thing though: why are they allowing the pesky reporter from getting away with her lies? First in the previous book, and then in this one. I do hope one of the authors addresses it in the other three books so she gets what's coming for her. Such a vile human being.

On to the next!!

This is a sweet modern day fairy tale. There's the prince (Cas) who just wants to live as a normal citizen for awhile without all the responsibilities that have been thrown on him. Then there's the American tourist (Matty) who has problems almost as soon as he arrives in Rosavia. Cas steps in and helps him out, not telling him who he is. They spend a lot of time together, falling for each other rather quickly. Even so, Cas knows they can't continue once it's time for Matty to go back to America. Cas, the second in line to the throne, has responsibilities and he knows being with a so-called commoner (and an American at that) wouldn't go over too well with his parents, the king and queen.

Everything is going great for Cas and Matty until the truth comes out and Matty discovers that the man he's spent so much time with is, in fact, Prince Cassander of Rosavia.

I'll stop there or I'll give away the whole story.

I really enjoyed this. I liked Matty well enough but I really liked Cas. It was nice seeing him let his hair down a bit.

3.5 cute stars

I enjoyed the way Cassander and Matty worked things out because while I detest the secrets that cause misunderstandings and hurt, it's how they work things out that make the difference. Cassander is under a lot of pressure and most of it is his own making despite the selfishness of his brothers and a fling with Matty what wholly unexpected, but exactly what he needed. His tenderness and care for and of Matty was endearing as was the way he sincerely apologized for the hurt his secrets caused. Matty was a bit more simplistic for me, like he was almost too good and also a bit immature. He wasn't a badly written character at all, he was exactly what Cassander needed, he was just a bit stereotypical in his goodness and forgiveness. Overall though it was a sweet story that fit well with the series.

Omg! Dip me in blueberry sugar and fry me up that was so freaking sweet!!! So cute. I might have actually swooned at the ending there. Like book 1 we get a prince who loves to dote and take care of his commoner lover. But this time the commoner is a New Yorker ❤ and has no idea the handsome guy he's falling for is a real live prince. Ohh! Just so good. Like a Disney movie but with waaaaay more butt sex. Glory to Rosavia!!🌹🌹🌹

You know, this is only my second book of this series so far, but I’ve got to say, I almost love the valets as much as the MCs. First Hugo and now Valentina. These guys are a riot. I friggin love them. And I love too, that even in this one, Matty even said he feels like he’s in a fairy tale. It’s a very sweet, romantic set of books so far and I’m enjoying them immensely. I’m still waiting for Wren’s story, which I’ve seen is book 5. That boy is a mess and I just adore him.
But this one was special too. For so many reasons. Matty was terrified of this trip. This was his first trip ANYWHERE and he felt like he was screwing up already. Especially when his and his niece’s luggage had gotten lost. It didn’t help he was broke and had to have his sister’s and her wife’s help just to get them where they needed to be, when they were fighting bills of their own. But it wasn’t just the luggage, it was the fact that his niece needed her bow for the archery tournament here in Rosavia and he didn’t know how he was going to buy another one. Then a customer happened to overhear the conversation and stepped in to help. With the bow and other things they needed. And right off the bat, Matt was in deep lust. What he didn’t know, so was Cas. But Cas had to be careful. Being the second Prince in line, he had to watch what he did and where he went so no one would know who he was. He wanted his quiet time and now he wanted time with this beautiful man. And the time they started having was amazing. They fit together so well. But like all things in life, things no how to hit right at the wrong time. And Matty got the full blown thing thrown in his face. And it shocked him to his core. A Prince. And because of that evil ‘journalist’, Cas is scrambling to try to fix things before he loses Matty forever. And he’s afraid he already has.
You know what I love so much about these two, is they really do fit each other so seamlessly. Cas could finally be himself around Matty. He could bring him home or to his quiet places and know he was safe. Know that he could put his life in this man’s hands and know it would all be alright. He was after Cas’s money. Most of the time it made Matty uncomfortable knowing he couldn’t pay himself. He wasn’t all about the flash of life. He loved the quiet behind the scenes kind of thing. And for Cas, who was trying to escape all that flash of palace life, it was perfect. But Cas was just as perfect for Matty. With Matty’s ex and his parents doing a number on his psyche and self-esteem, Matty didn’t think much of himself or often worried about everything. And Cas showed him how beautiful and perfect for him he was. He showed Matty how special he was and how complete he made Cas feel. They brought out the best in each other and the rest just fell away. It didn’t matter.
And what made this even more perfect, is the King himself was starting to see what changes were happening in his children’s lives and it was time to make changes of his own. He may be King, but he was human and a father first. And I love his support for his kids. He may not always get it right, but no kid comes with an instruction manual. We have to wing it often. But that he tried and was trying, made it the greatest thing.
This series is so good. If you haven’t read it yet, you need to. It’s just some sweet romantic stories, with a touch of angst, to make the perfect set of books. It’s a great world to be a part of.

Here in the second book of the series we get the second-oldest prince, Cassander (Cas), the good guy who covers for his brothers and cleans up after their messes…at least until he decides to take a well-deserved break to put himself first for a change. He just wants to get lost in the masses for a while, to feel like he’s just Cas, and not a member of the royal family. Good thing, too, because taking that break lets him run into Matty.

Matty is a super-sweet, selfless, and dedicated guy, and I think everyone who reads this book will wind up falling for him. He’s been hurt in the past by both his parents and his exes, and while that doesn’t make him fragile it does make him wary. But with Cas, he decides to throw caution to the wind, resulting in a dizzying, passionate connection that quickly morphs into more.

Now throw in one persistent (and super-shady) reporter, a faithful and resourceful valet, and some newfound friends. It’s a recipe for a great story, and my only niggle was that it felt just a bit drawn out. That aside? I adored Matty and Cas together. Their relationship is intense, the attraction between them immediate, and their physical chemistry sizzling. Even when things go sideways, the connection between the two is so strong that you just know everything will work out.

Reign or Shine was a strong 4-star read for me. I liked getting to see glimpses of all the brothers, and it’s starting to look like the palace is going to need a never-ending supply of blueberry lube ;-) And yes, the adult language and sexual content (blueberry flavored and otherwise) does make this story one for readers 18+.

This a relatively no angst read. The only thing I would have liked is to see Matty spend some time with the royal family. He briefly meets some of the brothers at the ball, but basically that is it. Cas just wants to spend some time as a normal person and not constantly being the prince all of the time. When he meets Matty and his niece in a sporting good store, Cas is smitten, but he knows that nothing will ever come of it as there are rules. He is a prince and can't be seen with a commoner, let alone date one. But he throws caution to the wind and follows his heart and will make the most of the time Matty has left before flying back home. They end up spending a lot of time together and falling in love. Things are going great until the evil reporter outs Cas right across the headlines of the local paper. She was vile and said some pretty nasty/hateful things, all of which were untrue. Not sure why Matty couldn't sue the paper for defamation, but then again he isn't in America. I understand why Cas didn't tell Matty who he was, and once Matty really thought about it, he understood as well. Other then wanting him to spend more time with the family, and the evil reporter, this was a relatively low angst sweet read. I have not read the first book yet but it appears that they all are basically running through the same time line so I didn't feel lost. I do want to read about the other brothers.

This was really sweet. Insta-love isn't my favorite trope, but Cas and Matty were super cute together. Theses two complimented each other well. Matty is struggling to find himself, and is a bit insecure, but he's determined to help his sister out and look after his niece on this amazing archery opportunity she has. Cas is trying to escape from always being the one to fix everything for his family, but never have anything for himself. Matty is just the sort of guy Cas needs, someone he can take care of, but also someone he can just relax and be himself with. Someone he isn't just the prince.

Of course, anytime you're going to have a storyline where someone's hiding something, even if it is just a lie of omission, you're going to have things crumble at some point. I did enjoy the way this resolved though. I didn't feel like Matty caved too easily or that the two didn't actually talk about what happened and it was all kinda swept under the rug. Their separation didn't last long, but really their entire relationship is on a truncated time schedule, so it didn't bother me that it was a quicker resolution as they did actually apologize and talk about things.

So far this series is very sweet and I'm enjoying each of the brothers. I'm looking forward to the next one.

This was SOOOO good. I finished this book with such a happy, goofy smile on my face. It was such a feel-good book. Matty is on his first vacation out of the US to bring his niece to an archery tournament. Cas is one of the Princes of Rosavia, but he needs to get away from the responsibility and stress for a couple of weeks. When Cas meets Matty, everything shifts and he starts to realize that he needs to focus on himself more. They were so perfect for each other. They both had some vulnerabilities that were soothed by the other. They were so sweet. I loved watching them grow as people and together. There wasn’t a lot of angst which was lovely.

Hoodies & Roses

Must say the valets in Rosavia have a magic all their own. I think they’re secretly running everything. I’m so glad Matty has family/friends/cheerleaders in his life. They give him the best advice. Blue is already my favorite color but this book made it more so. “You brought me to life.” Together, Matty and Cas found something real and precious. They build each other up and show the other how amazing they really are. In my eyes they’re both priceless treasures to always be cherished. It’s a sure thing you will love this fantastic book, family and Rosavia.

Reign and Shine by H.J. Welch is the second book in the Rosavia Royals Series. Each book is written by a different author.

This book is about the 'spare', the second son, prince Cassander and American Matty. Cassander takes a vacation from his sense of duty. He's hiding out as simply Cas. He meets Matty and keeps his real identity a secret. I loved Cas and Matty.

Super cute and reminded me a little of the way Princess Mary of Denmark met Fredrick, le sigh. I love a good meet cute and throw in a handsome Prince, an American tourist out of his depths and a cute kid to boot and you're totally on a winner.

Book 2 of the Rosavia Royals series is a fun read and you'll totally love Cas and Matty's romance.

This very much read like a fluffy Hallmark holiday movie, but without the holiday. Is it bad that I wanted more drama and angst? It was all a little *too* sweet and perfect for my taste, but I think the characters were interesting and this book would probably be very enjoyable for someone in the mood for a fluffy royal/commoner romance.

A good book about love at first sight, but it's written well so we can see the passages from I want to know to the final I love you.
The couple was interesting and here important was the presence of the press, that's seen as the antagonist of the book.
Here there are more pieces of information about the other brothers and I can't wait to read their books.

second story in this series and even though you don't have to read them in order honestly i would recommend it. they are all stand alone but it is so much fun to read the others before each of these. it was amazing.. so much fun and sexy... some hi-jinks happen... some different people who got confused on who was who... some people who are happy and loving. it was all around a fun story to read!

Omg!!!! This is pure gold. It was so heart-warmingly beautiful. This book gave me tingly feelings in my tummy the entire time. In the Right Royal affair which was her first Prince Charming book, Prince James had stolen my heart and won my affection and now yet again another Sweet, sexy and charming prince has stolen my heart again.
Prince Cassander Fabian Ivor Van Rosavia, is kind, caring, responsible and also an amazing brother. He always takes responsibility for his four brother’s behaviour. The entire palace literally depends on him. He has always lived for the Palace and his country and never got a chance to live for himself. When selfless Cas decided to get away from it all for awhile and take a vacation fate has him bumping into Matty Doyle.
Matty is loyal, kind and prioritises family Over everything else. He’s recently had his heart broken and has a low self esteem and trust issues.
It’s so lovely that fate had them running into each other, because they really are perfect for one another.
I loved the characters of both Cas and Matty. The character portrayal and description is beautiful. I love how Cas saves the day when Matty and Finley were completely dejected and lost. I love that he swoops in and makes himself Matty’s self appointed tour guide. The fact that Matty was unaware of his prince status was really very exciting. When Matty and Cas ended up spending the day together the sparks flew between them and the UST could be cut with a knife. Omg the entire book was so fast paced and exciting. The writing and word play makes reading addictive. I loved Shommie and Esosa. They really were the ultimate friends to Matty. I loved all the support he got from his friends as well as his sister and niece. I loved the pace of the relationship building. It was so lovely and so natural. Starting with the dinner at the apartment. I loved how shy Matty literally jumped on Cas and attacked him with his kiss and really how can anyone blame him with that kind of sizzling UST in the air. I love how Cas saw Matty, through his eyes, Matty was perfection someone he thought was worth fighting for even though he knew a Relationship between them was not allowed. I love how he clung on knowing that he will cling on to Matty till the last minute because he just couldn’t imagine letting Matty go. I love how what was supposed to be a vacation fling became so much more. I really loved that Cas respected Matty so much that he didn’t want to break his trust. That even a lie of omission made him feel so guilty. I love that Cas made Matty feel like he’s worthy and beautiful. The kind of security that Cas gave Matty was so lovely.
My heart broke for both the boys when that leach Ida Von Tarr, sullied Matty’s image and invaded his privacy. It broke my heart when Matty felt like Cas was using him. Cas’ pain was really really heart breaking. I’m so glad they both worked it out in their own way n in their own time. I love that in the palace garden that the rose that caught Matty’s attention was Cas’ Own rose. It was a relief that Matty went as far as trying to understand things from Cas’ perspective and that just showed what a kind and compassionate and forgiving man Matty was. The king got a lot of points from me in this story for just being such a lovely father. The meeting with the king was one of my favourites. The King was so kind and showed such fondness for his son. There is no wonder that he has such lovely kind hearted and wonderful children. I loved loved loved that when Matty calls Cas your highness that Cas says that he can only do so if he can call Matty your highness some day too. It warmed my heart when Cas whispers in Matty’s ear n calls him your highness time and again. Matty’s come back was epic when Von tar harasses them at the Ball and goes on to call Cas by his given name and Matty says it’s “your highness” to her. Omg I actually clapped for that scene. There was something suspicious about Ben’s behaviour that we didn’t get the answer for in this story and it’s exciting that we have to wait to read the next books to find out because the anticipation just makes it sweeter.
I’m so happy his sister gets better. The proposal was sooo beautiful and the reactions so natural and perfect Ughh I cried. When Matty told Cas he was moving to Alpina my heart actually sang. Ughh it’s so perfect. They Really do complete each other. Also I need to make special mention of Valentina. I loved her she is such a Boss, such a Rockstar.
This was such a beautiful book. It’s so feel good. It’s literally a 21st century fairy tale. It’s gold, I can’t stop saying that it’s gold. It made me really happy during a difficult few days in my life.

This is the second book in a quintet of concurrent stories, a unique setup where each story focuses on one of five brothers (the Princes of Rosavia), but includes references to the others’ respective stories which are all taking place at the same time. The books are numbered in order from eldest to youngest Prince, but the stories can be read in any order. This story focuses on the second eldest, Prince Cassander, and portrays a sweet, low angst romance with American tourist Matty Doyle. It’s not a particularly novel set-up: Prince Cassander is pretending he’s not a Prince, Matty doesn't know he’s a Prince, they fall for each other and then must work their way through the deception and inevitable discovery of their relationship by the press, and the resultant fallout. Nevertheless, the story is fun, enjoyable and absolutely worthy of the reader’s time.

Prince Cassander and Matty Doyle are presented as two honorable men who put family and duty to others (including in Cas’s case, his country) first, to the detriment of their own happiness. Neither believes that their own desires and happiness have any place in reality and have allowed external people and circumstances to dictate how they see themselves and their value. Their meeting and relationship develop with both men playing roles - essentially wearing “costumes” - as an artificial way of segregating who they think they are from who they want to be. Prince Cassander is “Cas” to Matty, but “Sander” to everyone else, including his family, even though it’s not a name he prefers. Cas is the free from obligation, non-royal who can just enjoy himself and not worry about his four brothers and their screw-ups and hijinx, his parents’ opinions, rules, customs or other limitations on what he can do and who he can love. Matty, for his part, has had his self-image battered by a callous ex-boyfriend, has abandonment issues stemming from his parents kicking him and his sister out because of their sexual orientation, and doesn’t believe he is worthy of much at all due to his status in life. They appear to be polar opposites but turn out to be complementary - two puzzle pieces that perfectly fit together. The theme of partners “completing” each other was prominent in Book 1 and is also here.

The characters are relatable and highly likeable and the reader will find it easy to emotionally engage with them and will be eager to read to see how they get to their HEA. As with many stories in this genre, there’s an expectation that the reader is willing to suspend a certain amount of disbelief, since some of the events do seem contrived and unrealistic. If willing to do so, you won’t be disappointed with this sweet tale.

Blue Roses and Blueberries (an audio review)

I am enjoying my time in Rosavia. These royal brothers are quite unique. Take Cas, for instance. He’s the spare and by far the most responsible one. He’s always going around cleaning up after everyone else. He’s also often the confidante – he knows many of his brothers’ secrets. And when he longs to get away from the pressure of being a royal? He has an apartment in the town where he escapes and tries to just be himself. Whoever that is. One day he happens upon a desperate American tourist and his instinct to help kicks into high gear.

Matty is doing the best he can. His sister is undergoing cancer treatment for a recurrence of her breast cancer. She and her partner are stuck stateside while Matty escorts his adorable niece to Rosaiva for an archery tournament. A little Katniss in the making. Their bad luck turns around when a handsome stranger offers to help. Matty is an independent person, but he’ll take the help because it’s really for his niece.

Once his niece is safely ensconced in the boarding school, Matty has time on his hands. And a handsome Rosavian offering to give him a tour. Thus begins a beautiful courtship that culminates in some special time together. Until it all comes crashing down. Matty discovers the truth about Cas, and all his previous hurts and betrayals come rushing back. And now his niece is being dragged into all this as well.

Cas, desperate to rescue the situation, struggles between his duty to his royal family and his growing love for an American tourist. Shades of England, anyone? Except they’re both men. Will Cas stand up for his relationship with Matty? Will Matty find the courage to accept Cas’ love? Well, I got my happy ending so that should be your first clue.

I enjoyed the royal story, as I have the others in this series. HJ Welch is one of my favorite authors because she tells simple stories with lovely men. Men that I’m sure I would be friends with. There’s the appropriate amount of palace intrigue to keep things moving along. The five books take place simultaneously so no worries about reading them in order. I’m going through them in a different order and I’m not lost at all.

Have to give a shout out to Kieran Flitton. He’s got these books nailed and even does a decent American accent and that’s not easy. I recommend the book and am glad I listened to it.

If you're looking for fluffy fairy tale romance escapism, this is the book for you. Is it realistic? Highly unlikely. Is it great literature that your grandchildren will have for their required summer reading? It would be highly shocking if it were to become so. But I found it much more enjoyable than The Red Badge of Courage, though not as much as Pride & Prejudice, so far as required reading goes.
Cas is incredibly sweet and hot and I didn't blame him too much for his deception. I do think Matty could've handled the truth though, at least within a shorter time of meeting Cas. Matty isn't the emotionally strongest man in the world, but he showed himself to be the kind of guy who could adapt given some time to think things over. I'm sure some might find Matty lacking in adulting skills, but as someone over a decade older than Matty's character, I would find things like traveling to a foreign country while in charge of a young family member pretty daunting too. They both did an amazing amount of ruminating in circles in their inner monologues and their romance was SO much insta-love, but still, I found both characters and the side characters likeable.
There is a paparazzi villain in the story that is the most over the top and I kept mentally shouting about how the person should've been dealt with in a real life situation, but if we're to keep to the fluffy fairy tale lack of need for 100% realism, it's something I could mostly forgive.
The narration was pretty good for the audio. Kieran Flitton is a new-to-me narrator. I liked his voice for Cas best, particularly when he spoke in more serious and sexy tones. Matty's voice was okay, though when he was either upset or in the throes of passion, he sounded like he was ugly crying a bit too much. His voice for Matty's niece was meh, but most adult narrators can't narrate kids well. His women's voices were good and voice differentiation was good. There were a few words pronounced oddly, but that might've been British pronunciation, not an error.
I intend to listen to/read more of this series.

This is the second novel is the Rosavia Royals series. It may be read as a standalone (but I highly recommend reading all of them!). This novel features some hidden identities and mysteries and some royal hi-jinks between 5 princes searching for their forever.

Cassander is second to line of the throne and takes on much more responsibilities then his other brothers when it comes to fulfillign Royal tasks. So, when Sander needs a break he heads into town, away from the palace and holds up in his little apartment away from all his royal duties. But this time is different, he ends up meeting American, Matty and his niece who are in Rosavia for her archery competition. The two men hit it off, but Cas keeps one secret from Matty; he doesn't tell him that he's a prince. With only a few weeks away from the Royal Ball, a snarky reporter hot on Cas's heels and a sassy valet trying to protect her prince at all costs; Cas must decide if what he has with Matty will finally give him the HEA they both deserve!

The best thing about this novel is that it was romantic and it was funny. Sometimes it is so hard to find a good romantic comedy but H.J. Welch manages to do just that. Be it the sassy valet, Valentina, the attention-seeking kitty Bella, and all the blueberry lube you are sure in for a sweet read.

I felt that the intimate scenes between Cas and Matty were some of the best I've read in a while. They flowed naturally so it didn't seem forced or unreaslistic; it was hot and passionate while also being loving and tender. I also felt that the supporting characters in this novel - even though they were minor, did play significant roles in this novel. Shommie and Esosa were a riot in this book and I loved how they became such good friends and allies of Matty's. And let's not forget Bella, I am a huge cat lover so it is so freaking cute to see the personalities of these animals portrayed on the page. I absolutely adored this book!

Reign or Shine is the second book in the Rosavia Royals series. Each book in this series focuses on one of the five brothers of the Rosavian royal family and is written by a different author. The books all happen simultaneously so it doesn’t matter the order you read them in. The events overlap, and it’s great to see the characters from all different angles and perspectives as you read through the series.

Cas is the second eldest brother and the most serious and reliable. Cas is used to taking care of everyone fixes the messes his brothers inevitably get themselves into. But it gets exhausting and even steadfast and reliable Cas needs a break from his life. In order to just getaway from it all, Cas hides his identity and spends some time outside of the palace as an ordinary Rosavian citizen. During one of these excursions he meets Matty, a young man still struggling to stand on his own. Matty is an American who’s escorting his niece on her archery tournament. Life is hard for Matty, but he’s doing his best to be strong for both his niece and himself. When he finds himself in an unexpected bind, the wonderful and mysterious Cas comes out of nowhere to help him out. From there, the romance between the two men continue to grow despite the obstacles thrown in their way.

I had a lot of fun reading this story. I loved the hidden identity and big reveal element of the plot and I really enjoyed how much of a caretaker Cas was yet he found his healthy boundaries. The book’s romance was sweet and the sex scenes were hot and delicious.

The audiobook was narrated by Kieran Flitton who has one of the sexiest voices ever. I love his voice so much and adore how he narrates each character. The characters are all distinct and it’s easy to follow along. The energy of the performance was perfect and each scene felt dynamic and alive. The audiobook production was well done with no errors.

5 Stars!

I'm listening to these books out of order, but I truly think that they can be read in any order and you won't miss out on anything. One suggestion, though? Read or listen to all of them at some point because once you start, you won't want to leave Rosavia until you meet all the princes and their loves.

I found the concept of five different books about five prince brothers written by five different authors to be quite original. They share some things in common, of course. They're all set in Rosavia, they are set in a similar timeframe leading to the big ball and they show us a few scenes from different perspectives to give us the bigger picture.

Cas and Matty's story read almost like a fairytale. A prince trying to hide his real identity and falling for the commoner who he meets by chance and who in turn falls for the prince, who finally knows what it is to have someone love him for himself and not what he represents. They were really cute together and had amazing chemistry.

There was a great cast of secondary characters, including Matty's adorable niece, and cameos by the other Rosavia princes and their father, that really added to my enjoyment of the story. And an awful reporter that I hated with a passion and hope we'll get to see get her comeuppance at some point during the series.

This is my first book narrated by Kieran Flitton, but I can assure you it won't be the last. His voice is very pleasant, and let me tell you when you have to listen to three of his books in as many days, that's important. LOL His performance was really good and I was impressed by how he went from Cas's almost British accent to Matty's American accent whenever they were in the same scene.

Overall, a great introduction (for me) to the series. I was thoroughly entertained and swept away into Cas and Matty's story and the world of the Rosavia Royals and already intrigued about meeting the rest of the princes.
