The movement began with the heart of the poor and humble Hungarian mystic and Third-Order Carmelite, Elizabeth Kindelmann (1913-1985), when she heard the voices of Jesus and Mary through interior locutions between the years 1961 and 1983. The result is this Spiritual Diary, written at the request of Our Lord Jesus, which has received the Imprimatur of the Church and gifted the world untold blessings for our critical times.
Jesus said to Kindelmann, “My Mother is Noah’s Ark,” and Mary told her, "I assure you, my little one, that I have never before given into your hands such a powerful force of grace, the burning flame of the love of my heart. Ever since the Word became Flesh, I have not undertaken a greater movement than the Flame of Love of my heart who rushes to you. Until now, nothing could blind Satan as much. And it is up to you not to reject it, for this rejection would simply spell disaster."
The Flame of Love movement is an official Church association of the faithful, enjoying the heartfelt approval of His Eminence Cardinal Péter Erdö, Primate of Hungary, Archbishop of Eszertom-Budapest, and the approval of various bishops in whose dioceses it flourishes, as well as a 2013 apostolic blessing from Pope Francis.
God is seeking to build up a holy army of souls in order help us to fight the battle ahead that leads to sure victory for those firm in faith. In this remarkable Spiritual Diary, you follow the life and divine conversations of one of the greatest mystics of the 20th century, learn of the prayers and weekly prayer schedule that effectively blind Satan, and of the divine promises Our Lord wishes to give to us through the intercession of His Mother’s Immaculate Heart.
The LORD uses humble instruments to shame the proud. Nothing about Elizabeth Kindelmann's life would give her the knowledge or tools to be able to write about the things she does.
The reason I find this movement (Church approved) to be so intriguing is because of how much I feel the "sensus fidelium" in this. What I mean by that is many different sources seem to come together and fit with this message. Fatima, MMP, In Sinu Jesu, etc.
We are on the cusp of a "new Pentecost", the triumph of the Immaculate Heart. This is the age of Mary that will prepare us for the Second Coming of the Lord. As He came through the Immaculate the first time, so will He come through her again in His glory. As Advent begins today, this is a perfect call to repentance and to conform our lives to the peace and love of JESUS CHRIST -- WHO IS LORD AND KING OF THE UNIVERSE.
I feel like it might be a sin to give this book two stars . . . however, I must admit that I was confused and a bit frustrated with Kindelmann's writings. Perhaps it was the translation that made it seem very redundant, but I found it a very exhausting read, simply because there was so much back and forth and repeating of the same things. I found the section at the end the most helpful, because it very clearly explained the Flame of Love movement. Anyway, that's all that I want to say about this book. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about it. I didn't realize it was a diary. Perhaps a biography on her life and the Flame of Love mission would be more effective for certain people, such as myself.
What an amazing book! Elizabeth Kindelmann was blessed to have been allowed visions into the secret life of Our Blessed Mother and Our Savior Jesus Christ. Very few people on this side of Heaven are allowed to see into these personal mysteries and the graces granted to Our Blessed Mother Mary. Most will never know the blessings given to her, nor the pain Our Blessed Mother endured for the sake of all of humanity. This book is an exceptional gift for all who want to know and love Our Blessed Mother and Jesus more intimately.
This beautiful, painful testimony of Elizabeth Kindelmann of Hungary show how very much God loves. Included are practical steps for every day of the week that God has instructed her to share. Praying and fasting for priests and souls in purgatory by adoring Jesus and praying the Hail Mary by adding "spread the effect of grace of thy flame of love over all of humanity" blinds satan, the ruiner of souls.
As a Christian it is important for me to read the literature that deepens my faith. This certainly has added more light to my faith in God. Elizabeth Kindelmann, a Third Order Carmelite fulfils the request of Jesus Christ to spread the importance of The Flame of Love. Her personal communication has received Imprimaturs from Mexico, Cost Rica, Peru and the United States, which left me even more reassured about the reliability of Elisabeth's testimony.
Found the translation to be a little choppy. The message was interesting and a good introduction to the writings of this modern mystic. I will be reading the full length book so I wonder if that will be better.
It is kind of like the Diary of Saint Faustina in a sense. It calls us to spread the flame of love to save souls. It inspires me to pray for souls dedicated to sacrifices to them. Beautiful!
It is so intriguing to see how Elizabeth struggled within her own soul throughout the time of the locutions. The message of this diary is also so important! A must read!
I'm not sure what to make of Elizabeth Kindelmann's life and her many visions (locutions) with Jesus and Mary, recorded in these journals.
What I liked: I enjoyed reading about this woman's deep faith. The effects on her soul of her talks with Jesus reminded me of St. Teresa's own torments.
What I am unsure of: That Jesus and Mary would have so many conversations with one person, essentially saying the same thing, over and over, for fifty years. That Jesus had to keep repeating his urgent request to Elizabeth to go speak to her priest and to her Bishop. She would eventually do it, but not with the haste that I would expect someone to move given the source of the request. Also, she would periodically recant everything she was asked to convey on behalf of our Blessed Mother and her Son. Lastly, I did not feel the reverence or inspiration that I would imagine feeling if I were reading a text that held actual transcriptions of a person's intimate conversations with Jesus and Mary.
Another problem, possibly the biggest one that concerns me, is that this edited version of Kindlemann's journal contains a hundred times more of Jesus' words than what He says in the Gospels combined. Since this journal has received so many imprimaturs, why is it not being considered as another Gospel, then?
With so many of His words recorded on page after page, Jesus is reduced to another character in a book, and that concerns me. At one point, Jesus appears as Elizabeth is preparing to eat one of her infrequent lunches - she fasts more often than she eats - and she just proceeds to eating while Jesus speaks to her. I've never been privy to personal Divine revelations, but I could guess that I would not continue chewing on my pb & j sandwich while Jesus addressed me.
I would have to say that ultimately I was not convinced - at least not enough to start fasting on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, as we are asked to do.
Still, I recommend people read Elizabeth's journals and make up their minds. Hopefully, their hearts will be converted to The Cause, if that is God's will.
