For Crossroads Gin rock stars Miki, Damien, Rafe, and Forest, life is a Möbius strip of music, mayhem, and murder. Through it all, the sweet, hot moments between tours with lovers, friends, and family keep them sane, healthy, and happy.
This Sinners collection features short stories spanning the entire series, from before the first note to after the lights go out.
['Nother Sip of Gin features bonus shorts finally together in one volume as well as four new Sinners Gin stories, combining classic foundational pieces with newly written material.]

You really should have read the first six books in this series, or these short treasures will just be short stories...they will not bring back the memories that they are meant to. Each is a short reflection, either a part of the story it refers to or a short recollection about what might have been, or what did happen with a bit more added to it. Every character appears in at least one short telling. Even Dude, Miki's dog, has his own section that is so funny hearing how he interpreted things that "his humans" saw in an entirely different way. Of course, his story is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. The entire collection is a roadmap that will take you back through this delightful series, with the Sinner's Gin guys, later known as Crossroads Gin, and their Morgan clan lovers. I've never seen a series end like this, but I thoroughly enjoyed every last minute of it. It was like going home to visit family or old dear friends.
Miki St. John may be one of my favorite characters of all time and as long as he's a part of the story I'm happy as can be. This is a sweet collection of little vignettes in the life of all of our favorite Crossroad's boys. Of course Miki and his Kane are front and center. I loved seeing Kane getting Miki to just have some pure fun. I think my two favorites stories might just be the nerf gun battle and those two at the fair. All of this was just pure fun and I enjoyed touching base with my favorite characters. Reading this made me want to reread this entire series. I might just have to do it.
I loved reading this collection of shorts from everything to the first meeting between Miki & Kane to the final curtain 5 years in the future for these two. Along the way we see all the boys and their significant others. I loved the story told from Dude's POV, I had forgotten all about that one. These shorts take place along side the books in this series so I wouldn't just read this one on it's own. You really need to pick up the series & read from book 1 & if you haven't yet, why not?? I'm so glad to have all the shorts in one place, so now I have to go back & read the series over again. Thank you Ms. Ford for creating these books & I can't wait to see the boys pop up in your other series from time to time.
ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
. . . Reading this book was like wrapping myself up in an old, familiar, favourite quilt....warm, cosy, and oh so comforting. Coming back to these beloved characters was so wonderful and Rhys Ford once again captured their essence perfectly, expanding on their stories and infusing some fresh life into familiar scenes. I especially loved the occasional narration by Dude and the unique perspective that provided. This collection of random stories is a must for any Sinner’s Gin fan and I would highly recommend reading the entire series in order. Rhys Ford never fails to entertain and inspire her many fans and never disappoints her readers. This book is no exception and I loved every minute I spent with it. My only complaint is that it had to end! .
‘Nother Sip of Gin brings together the numerous short stories that have interspersed the Sinners series. While most of the shorts in this collection have been released or posted online previously, there are also some new additions.
Whether old or new, each of these shorts encapsulates what makes this series so great - family, friendship, perseverance, and unconditional love. And some irreverent snark to top it off.
And perhaps unsurprisingly, these are also all reasons for why the Sinners series is one of my favourites!
Each short story reaffirms the relationships that have been built throughout the series. That includes the brotherhood of Crossroads Gin, and bonds of the Morgan clan they’ve become a part of.
And most importantly - the romances of Crossroads Gin and the men they love!
The key difference between this collection and the full-length books - a distinct absence of murder or explosions!
And though I do quite enjoy Rhys Ford’s brand of mayhem and mystery, these men more than deserve some quiet moments here and there.
However, I’ll note that while I’ve always enjoyed revisiting the Sinners men in between the main books over the years, reading each of these short stories back-to-back might not provide the best reading experience.
There ends up being quite a bit of repetitiveness, as the band’s relationships with each other, the men they love, and the family they’ve been adopted into, is explored in each short.
Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed walking back through this series - how Kane slipped under Miki’s walls, how Damie found peace in Sionn, how Forest and Con built their proverbial white picket fence, and how Rafe just gets Quinn.
And how Brigid and Donal are total badassess that need to be protected at all costs!
For fans of the series, ‘Nother Sip of Gin will bring all the feels and laughs that you should expect from Crossroads Gin and the Morgans!
REVIEWED BY ULYSSES DIETZ MEMBER OF THE PARANORMAL ROMANCE GUILD REVIEW TEAM
Well, well, well, this is Rhys Ford with all the bloody bits left out. Kinda nice, actually.
Twenty-three short pieces follow the chronology of the narrative arc of the Sinners Gin series, offering a weird birds-eye view of the long-term collision of the obliterated rock band Sinners Gin and the indomitable Irish-American Morgan clan of San Francisco. I’d put an asterisk (*) by this rating because it only counts if you’ve read all six of the novels. Without that, not much of this will make sense, in spite of the charm of these little jewels; because they are not intended to stand alone, but to mine the interstices of the saga of Miki St. John and his band of brothers.
What you can hardly forget, even amidst the gunfire and explosions that exemplify Rhys Ford’s style, is that this series is about resurrection, redemption, and romance. First there’s Miki and Kane Morgan; then his brother-in-all-but-birth Damien Mitchell and Sionn Murphy (who is Brigid Morgan’s nephew; followed by Forest Ackerman, who catches the unexpecting eye of the eldest son, Connor Morgan; and finally the Morgan boys’ childhood friend Rafe Andrade, who kicks addiction to win the heart of the bookish Quinn Morgan. Against the individual backstories of each of the Crossroads Gin bandmembers, the rich (and rather unlikely) tapestry of the Morgan family hangs as a constant, colorful backdrop.
The anthology seems like it might be bits and pieces written as part of the creation of the books in the series, but left out of the finished books, for one reason or another. Oddly enough, I can see how each and every one of these texts, marvelous in itself, didn’t quite fit in, or feel necessary to the fast-paced action-romance of the novels themselves. There’s an almost elegiac starter, showing us Miki and Damien before their band was formed and their lives changed forever. Here are two boys, one having rescued the other, who create a whole family out of two broken parts. There are two shorts about tattoos, one from Miki and Damien’s perspective, one from the Morgan brothers and their father’s. These are about brotherhood of different kinds, and the mystic power of tattoos in many people’s minds (and there’s also a foreshadowing of another series from Ford’s pen).
The one group of twelve snippets that I think stands alone, and was not ever intended to be in the series, is dedicated to Dude, the smelly, smart, ill-trained terrier who brings Kane Morgan to Miki St. John’s door. About half of these are actually from Dude’s point of view, which is hilarious. Definitely for dog lovers, but these also offer, as does every story in this book, a deeper insight into the people who filled the pages of this series.
Each of the four couples who come together over the course of the series get their own share of space here; but also, rather wonderfully, do Donal and Brigid Morgan. I loved this chapter because the parental Morgans have always been a mystery to me. Irish- born, parents of eight (yet not all that old), they manage to be as broad-minded and generous of heart as any characters in any book I’ve ever read. They are a constant thread of fierce and unyielding love that weaves its way through every one of the books in this series. I felt like I finally knew them.
One of the longest pieces in the book, “A Day at the Fair,” does actually feel like a short story complete in and of itself. Kane takes Miki to the Los Angeles County Fair in Pomona, driving all the way from San Francisco to do it. Much of the kind of introspective writing that Ford favors is present here, but beyond that is an utterly charming story about a man giving the person he loves the gift of an experience he was denied in childhood.
Miki and Kane do appear to get the most page time in ‘Nother Sip of Gin, but reading this substantial volume was not just about them. It felt to me like gorging on a big tray of delicious snacks. Every page in the book reminded me of the stories in the series, and the complex network of emotional healing that went on in those pages, touching on every one of the characters. By the end of it, you feel like you stumbled on a random box of faded color photographs, each of which brings to mind a happy memory of something else. When you read these, you feel like an insider. It’s a good feeling.
I love the Morgans. Started the series so cynical but they became a favourite comfort read, a bundle of action, attitude, survival and cure all love and family to fall back on, on rainy days. Some of the extras are great and pack plenty feeling in a few pages. But, I think this is either one for people who need complete sets, or someone newly discovering the series who hasn't read them previously. Most of the stories are available free which I knew before buying. It includes all the 'x'.5 stories such a Hair of the Dog, which takes up quite a few pages. Titles tend not to stick with me and I found myself quickly skimming to find the new offerings and to be honest with the 'read this/remember this' lost interest along the way. Maybe if I was doing a complete re-read I'd value it more, but as a book on it's own merit, it just doesn't wow me.
It was good to visit the Morgan clan and Sinners Gin again. The vinyettes were lovely. It was sad to say goodbye to what has been a wonderful series.I would have loved to have seen more of Con and Quinn as they are my favorites, but I guess you take what you can.
Rhys Ford is one of the few authors I know who truly understands that her characters are more than just words on a page to readers. Her writing crafts fully dimensional people who find their place in our hearts so that when the slice of their lives we’re reading is over, we miss them and want to periodically check in to see how they’re doing. For years, Rhys has written short stories about the Sinners Gin crew and posted them on her website and now, with ‘Nother Sip Of Gin, they are collected in one volume for the convenience of the reader. Writing in the short story format is very different from novel writing and I don’t always enjoy the format but Rhys has mastered it; the stories are each full and satisfying, fleshing out facets of the characters not seen in the novels. My two all-time favorites are at opposite ends of the spectrum: Hair Of The Dog is an absolute hoot told from Dude’s POV, and Dancing After The Cake is so beautiful it literally brings tears to my eyes with each reading. Full disclosure: I was given an ARC to review but have purchased a copy so as to support the amazing talent and generosity that prompts Rhys to write and post short stories free for her readers.
OMG, more Sinners Gin. I feel like I won the lottery. I firmly believe you can never have too much of a good thing. You need to have a prior understanding of these characters so if you have not had the pleasant experience of meeting Damien, Miki, Forest and Rafe you will want to read the series first. If you desire to dive in as a Gin newbie, I can almost guarantee you will go back and binge on the previous stories. I loved how the chapters intertwined the past and future and the best segments hands down were of Dude, Miki's dog. Ms. Ford had to have been a terrier in a past life because those moments in that devilish head of the bigger than life dog that adopted Miki were simply epic. Each little story was an intimate snippet in the men's lives and while all were wonderful the one that put a lump in my throat was about Rafe, Quinn and the accidental murder of some tomato plants. I willl let you figure this out on your own. All and all a delightful reunion of the men that stole my heart. The book was a joy to read and while there were segments of sad memories, I finished the story with a huge contented smile on my face. The author simply nailed it again. Thanks to the publisher and author for a copy of the story for my reading pleasure.
An interesting peek into the lives of the main characters of the Sinner's Gin series. I enjoyed learning about everyday events which have happened to the Morgan Clan and their rock star partners. I wasn't keen on the section told from Dude the dog's point of view but enjoyed the rest. It was interesting to see the Morgans anad Finnigans introducing their partners to their homeland of Ireland. We learn more about what makes them tick and we see more about the influence Donal and Brigid have on the newcomers to the family. If you have read the series then this is definitely for you. If not you will need to read them first but you won't be disappointed. I was given this book in return for a free and unbiased review.
Most of my GR Friends gave this 5 stars and I can understand that just due to the love I have for these characters but for me reading these back to back wasn't the best reading experience. I think if I had more time in between stories I would have enjoyed it a lot more. As it stands there is quite a bit of repetition in these stories. The stories focus on the relationships between the band and with the men they fall in love with. I do truly love these characters BUT I hate to say it but I was just a bit bored at times and just wanted to get to the end. My favorite story - the one in Dude's POV. So Funny - I love that dog!
I'm absolutely delighted that I got to revisit some of my favorite characters in MM fiction. These precious little insights kept me up all night and to have them all in one place is an added bonus. It's all there - emotion, love, humor, soul, family found /chosen, angst... You name it. If you're a fan of this series you know what I'm talking about and if you're new to it you should absolutely start with book one. I'll be rereading the whole series very soon (and kiss goodbye my well deserved sleep).
I have read dozens of Rhys Ford books and I still come to a point in every book where I am just blown away by how beautiful the writing is. I loved this book. It was beautiful little glimpses into the lives of characters that I love like they are real people. I was like reconnecting with old friends. It made me laugh, and smile, and tear up. If you love the Sinner’s Gin series you will love this book. Bravo.
I received an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This anthology runs from when Miki and Damien first met to five years after Sin and Tonic. There is even one story from Dude's perspective. My favorite story are the two set as interviews, one with Miki and Damien, the other With Kane and Simon their lovers. Gives a great insight into the characters. But each of the characters in the series gets their moment in the spotlight.
started a re read of this series and finished it all the way through perhaps it was even better the second turn around I just love the guys of the band and their significant others and i always wish there was more Miki :D
Just what I needed. Seeing the boys together again, and happy. Wonderful ending, finishing where it began, with Kane and Sinjun...Just perfect. Once again Ms Ford's writing hits the spot. A must read if you've followed the series. Wonderful 😍
3 1/2 - I'd read several of the pieces in other places. It's definitely one for the completists - it doesn't really add anything to the stories, or provide much of a check-in on later happening but they are sweet, low-angst snippets. And it really could have done with a final proof-read: getting a Morgan offspring's name wrong is a pretty big thing to miss.
I love having all of the short stories for the Sinners Gin series in the one place. These are beautiful, heartwarming, insightful little views I to the world of Sinners Gin. The moments. The peices of joy.
A collection of shorts and snip-its from the series. Some funny, some are serious, and all are heart felt. This covers all of the Morgan clan, not just Miki and Kane. And let us not forget Dude! Truly enjoyable to anyone who’s read the series.
This collection is lagniappe for lovers of the Sinners series. It’s a little gift that we had no reason to expect, but are oh so happy to receive. And it’s absolutely yummy from beginning to end.
Some are even brand new, which makes it an even bigger present. The stories are certainly new to me and I’m thrilled to have them all together. Of course, new and old, they are all great stories.
This is a collection of little slices of life of the members of Crossroads Gin and the men who love them. They are interstices. Places between. Things that take place before, between and after the books in the series, or in one truly memorable case, right alongside.
The stories also contain hints of Rhys’ other series. Not deep dives into their past or present, but just enough to make a regular reader of her work realize that many of her contemporary series take place in the same world. Enough to tease but not enough to torment.
Still, this is definitely a collection for the fans. Because we care about these characters, and have missed them now that their story seems to be over and they have all managed, by hook, by crook and mostly by miracle, to have found their happily ever afters.
For those of us who have followed the series, this is a visit with old friends, sitting around, swapping stories. Except that they have all the best stories and we’re just listening in.
As great as it is – and it is terrific – to glimpse a bit of Miki and Damien before they became famous, or to peek into Miki and Kane’s happy ever after, My favorite story in the book, hands and paws down, is Hair of the Dog. Because Dude, the dog who adopted Miki just before the series opens, tells the entire story of the first book, Sinner’s Gin, from his rather unique perspective. After all, Dude is the one responsible for bringing Miki and Kane together, and he has a lot to say about how it happened. He’s also one smart and savvy dog.
Escape Rating A: Lovers of this series are going to be all in for this collection. We’ll all probably have our own favorites, but the whole of it is just a great time. If you’re not already a fan of the series, this is not the place to start. Start with Sinner’s Gin and get swallowed up by the lost band and the found family that forms the backbone of the series. It’s a marvelous wild ride from beginning to end!
This is a fun read with short stories and vignettes that fall before and between Rhys' other books in the series. Unlike many others, I don't think I have read any of these stories before.
It would be helpful to have read at least the first book or two of the series before diving into these tales, but I don't think reading the whole series is required to enjoy them. My favorite was the story with the dog Dude as the narrator, it was were clever and humorous to see Miki and Kane from Dude's perspective.
Definitely recommended to anyone who has enjoyed these books and would like more adventures in the Sinners Gin universe.
Full-on fan service, and I am here for it. These were lovely, sweet bits and bobs from all of the couples, including one of Donal and Brigit. My only quibble is that the bits from Dude's perspective went on too long, but I'm not a pet person so I definitely wan't the target audience. *Edited to add: I wasn't aware that many of these stories were available online for free, so they were all new to me. I'm a new reader for this author (discovered within the last 6 months) but I've binged on several of her series', including Sinner's Gin.
Heather's Notes I thought I had previously read this, but I had never read all the stories. It was nice seeing different pieces of their lives. It was also a good way to round out the series.
There are some shorts I’d already read (from the blog tour shorts) and a few new ones. All are sweet codas that show these guys all living their HEA. I was disappointed that Tristan James did not narrate this volume, since he did books 1-6. And he did them so well. I grew to crave hearing his Irish burr in my ear. The narrator for book 7, Kale Williams, is fine, but his voice was jarring, having gotten so used to Mr. James.
While I enjoyed all the vignettes into the lives of the Morgans and their loved ones, the best part of this book was the chapters from Dude’s point of few. Dude’s descriptions of the various family members are hysterical and his matchmaking story is very clever and sweet. The short stories include the whole Morgan clan and focuses on their day-to-day lives and all the love these people have for each other. A quick fun read.
‘Nother Sip of Gin by Rhys Ford was a great collection of stories looking in on Miki & Kane, Damien & Sionn, Connor & Forest, Rafe & Quinn. Some were ones we have read on blog tours and some are new. I really loved checking in on the Boys and what their lives have shaped into since we last saw them. It is definitely a must read when rereading the Sinners Series.
