Love wasn’t in the cards for me. No thanks. It only brought the worst kind of pain. I watched my father suffer the consequences of losing the love of his life when my mother died. And I wanted no parts of any of it. Therefore, I turned my heart off to it and kept it closed for well over a decade.
Then one day, Jodi Walker entered my office. She was bold, beautiful, and ready to get in the face of anyone who got in her way. And I couldn’t stay away from her. Maybe it was the fierce, determined look in her hazel eyes or the abundance of graphic tees she wore that declared her mood at any given moment. Quite possibly, it could’ve been the perfect soft, plump lips of hers that kept my attention for minutes on end. Whatever it was, I decided to take on her case, though it wasn’t the type my private investigative firm usually took on.
Sure, the mystery around her grandfather’s death was intriguing. But it was the dogged way in which Jodi refused to back down until she had answers, that convinced me to help her. Somehow my desire to help her turned into a burning need to protect her. The bastards that went after her grandfather came after her. The only problem was, they hadn’t figured out, they’d have to go through me first.
Tiffany Patterson is an automatic drop everything and read her book now author.
NOTE: These Townsend's are the sons of Robert Townsend's (unknown to him) half-brother, Joel.
Jodi gets a call that her beloved grandfather has committed suicide. Jodi goes to Texas to settle his affairs and find answers. She finds a couple of faded newspaper articles about a missing girl along with the ring the girl wore with the articles. She needs answers so she finds LS Investigations and though they don't do murder or suicide Micah takes on her case. Before long the heroine decides she's going to investigate on her own despite Micah asking her to let him/them handle it. She goes off on her own time and time again and ends up putting a target on her back. When she handles a dangerous situation, I was proud of her but then she got extremely cocky, even going as far as to think she could take on Micah. She was hard-headed and her antics became annoying and dangerous to herself and those around her. She's my least favorite TP heroine and that's saying something!
When a major reveal about her grandfather was exposed, I didn't believe it. He just wouldn't have been able to proceed as far he got without having this particular ability. It would have caught early on and he couldn't gone on to the next level. The frustration level would have been enormous and he would have given up a lot sooner. However, this doesn't spoil the story for me because it's Tiffany Patterson!
The suspect list was short, so it wasn't too difficult to determine the identity of the culprits. This too doesn't take away from this story. It's an enjoyable read! Highly Recommended: Read It!
Great Read! Tiffany had done it again with more Townsend men. I love the dynamic between the two main characters. The storyline was good and humorous, I can't wait to see what's next.
This was an amazing book. I loved it from start to finish. Could not put it down. I thought the book showed a very strong side to Jodi. She was a perfect fit for Micah. I loved how they both spoke what was on their minds and did not back down to the other one. I can’t wait to get into the other books for this series.
I didn't like any of the characters. They all seemed outlines of fully developed people rather than Any one unique. the story surrounding her grandfather's passing was more interesting and believe able than their love story and it was not fully developed itself. Overall this book was just not my cup of tea.
I agree, Tiffany Patterson is the type of author who puts out a book and you drop everything to read it. For You was no exception. Jodie is the kind of heroine that I like to read about. She's sharp, sexy, and determined to solve her grandfather's death. It was officially listed as suicide, but she knows in her heart and soul, he was murdered. She enlists private investigator and cousin to the Townsend brothers, Micah Townsend to help her solve this mystery and while doing this, they end up falling hard for each other. I love Micah's protective nature of Jodie. It's something, we discover he's actually had for her since they were kids when she would visit her grandfather for summers, she and Micah had a sweet childhood connection. She just didn't realize it was him when she comes to solve her grandfather's death! It's cute. Now I was kind of torn about one thing, the guy on the cover art doesn't look like the character described in the book! It's one of my pet peeves! Please match your cover model to your descriptions, authors! It doesn't necessarily take away from the story in this book, but it's annoying. You have a hero who is constantly described as having long hair past his shoulders with a red beard and this guy on the cover ain't it. I'd deduct a half start for that. But the overall story is really good and I enjoyed it as I do most all of Tiffany Patterson's books!
Super excited to meet the Texas Townsends. I loved me some Micah. He was possessive, Protective and definitely had to be patient do deal with Jodi's hard-headed self. Jodi in my opinion was a woman who could handle her own but she didn't hesitate to work my nerves when it came to Micah wanting to protect her. That is what annoyed me the most about her, she had loose cannon characteristics LOL. I enjoyed the suspense and mystery of the story although it did drag in some areas for me. Still, it was a good beginning to the Texas Townsends and I am looking forward to meeting the other brothers.
Jodi return to Texas when she gets some bad news that her beloved grandfather has died under conspicuous circumstances, so she seek a out PI, to help her get the answers and solve the mystery of his death. Jodi goes to the PI‘s office where she encounters Micah, after she overhears a conversation that was not meant for her. Jodi proceeds to tell Micah off, but apologize for being in the wrong. On his desk she sees a braided rope of knots, she gets to feeling that she knows him from somewhere, but along the way she remembers exactly where she met him from. Micah and Jodi a perfect for each other. Tiffany has done it again with another Townsend novel.
I enjoyed the plot of this story a lot better than some of the original Townson’s, but Jodi is not one of my favorites. Micah on the other hand, 🔥. Loved him. I did enjoy that Jodi was not a damsel in distress waiting for someone to save her.
I was thinking low key this is my least favorite book - but I liked ... well I liked Micah more than I liked Tyler in his book, but I liked Destiny more than I liked Jodi. I liked Jodi well enough other than when she was TSTL - her INSISTING on inserting herself in the case, "doing investigations" refusing to "just sit around" - like - friend you LITERALLY ARE SURE YOUR GRANDFATHER WAS MURDERED. WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING MAKING ENEMIES AND BEING SHITTY EVERYWHERE?!
...
She has no fucking sense. None.
JFC
Like - I don't blame Micah for keeping shit from her at all. And sure she knows self defense - great. You can't self defense your way out of a gun shot.
I'm not quite sure I get Joel, but. [Also that beginning/opening was DAMN overdramatic.]
There were also again a handful of typos. Also a discrepancy I'm pretty sure - wasn't in Robert and Deborah's book it said that the Texas Townsend also gets married at Townsend manor? So it wouldn't be a ballroom they rented...
Other than Jodi insisting on compromising the investigation I liked it a lot - but it annoyed me so much I kept pausing and then also I skimmed some of the sex scenes cuz I was so annoyed like - how can Micah just whatever/sex it through or whatever. Just ugh.
But Micah is a total sweetheart. I missed the camaraderie between siblings though - I felt there wasn't enough of that. Also didn't like how Micah treated "new guy." Parts of this also just felt unfinished though.
Also it was SUPER obvious who the bad guy was from the start, although the totality of it was ish a surprise/not obvious from chapter 1.
Another thing that bothered me was [Chael?] the cousin? Like ... I dunno - veering into the exoticism thing here. Woo woo native ... but I'm of course willing to wait for his book to see how it goes.
Gabe and Lena ... [right?] Hm. I think I'm going to read the existing Townsend series into the ground before I branch out into other Patterson books :P
For this one ... D? .... D+
OH!!!
ALSO WITH HOUND. THAT WAS TOUGH + TOUCH AND GO FOR A BIT. low key I think I'm not more annoyed/I liked it/ended with warm fuzzies because yes it ends well/the proposal BUT I'm just so relieved Hound is okay.
5/23/21 - ETA: I'm pretty sure this book also didn't label the different POV; so while it's not that hard to figure out it does throw you initially.
This was a pretty good read. I always enjoy when the Townsends from Robert and Deb's family makes their appearances and it is great to see that all of them get along. I am glad that Jodi and Micah got their HEA but it was a little frustrating when the heroine is a little stubborn. I love dogs and I am happy to see that Hound the cute dog got his HEA, too.
This was just soooo fucking disappointing it's not even funny. Which is just sad bc I absolutely loved the books before this one. This just felt like a cheap spinoff of the other books. This were the cousins of Aaron's and it completely sucked. No one can top the original Townsend men. Specifically my Aaron. The characters in this book were just blah. The FMC was sooooo annoying 🙄 The author tried to make her into this independent and badass character and it just fell short. She was cringey and she literally couldn't be part from Micah for two days bc she missed him sooo much 😒😒
This was supposed to have a touch of mystery to it but the reader knew everything that was happening. Like the author gave it away since the first chapter. Which made it sooo fucking boring to read bc there were no twists or surprises. Nothing! Even the sex sucked. There was no chemistry whatsoever between the characters. No development just fucking NOTHING!!
Truly the only thing that was likeable in this book was Hound. The motherfucking dog!! Ugh.
K, bye, enough ranting. And even though I kinda hated this book I would still recommend the other books prior to this one. Those are the OG. This was just a cheap spinoff.
I am in love with the Texas Townsends! Just thinking about Micah *fantasizing sequence commencing*...ok I'm back. I loved the pairing of Jodi and Micah. Both strong, mentally and physically and stubborn as the day is long. Fight as much as they could against their feelings for one another, the fall was inevitable. I absolutely adored Joel! His personality was endearing, albeit a bit crazy (at least he stands by his crazy). Although he wasn't seen i felt a deep affection for Tom as well. I wished there was more scenes of him. I can't wait for the rest of the Texas gang to tell their stories. I know Gabe has his story next but I'm interested in hearing stories about Ace, Chael, Sy and Bass. I have the book 4 stars only because of grammatical errors. It wasn't overly so but there were a few i couldn't overlook ( "Jim Crow error"?!!) And then forgetting character descriptions(mom had copper eyes like Micah in the first few pages then later she had big blue ones??) Other that another great story from Tiffany Patterson!
Micah Townsend was so devastated by his mother's passing and witnessed the light go out of his father's eyes by the loss of his love, he vowed to never fall in love. But his mother told him before she died that he would meet a woman that he would lay his life down for. That he would know her when he saw her, and he did. The minute Jodi Taylor walked into his P.I. business, he knew. Jodi felt immediately relaxed in his presence after she got her initial confrontation over with. She realized that comfort came from an earlier meeting of Micah when they were children.
Jodi only had three months in Texas hill country to clear up her grandfather's estate. She did not have time for love, besides, she had to find out how her grandfather really died. She relied on Micah's L. S. Investigations to get at the root of the problem. When Jodi's life was endangered, they knew they were on the right path.
The author, Tiffany Patterson, took this story on a whirlwind adventure. I just loved the relationship that they all had with Hound. I'm a dog lover so this part hit home for me. It tickled me how he would whine whenever Micah and Jodi got too much into each other. The couple just could not help themselves as their chemistry was hot as fire. I love a good book that has me guessing what was going on with the story and this one did not disappoint. The plot had twists and turns that were not expected.
If you believe in soul mates you will love this story the passion and love along with the undeniable truth that this is the one is just great I most definitely recommend!!
I was so excited to see that the Townsend family story will continue! Although Micah, just recently found out about the Townsends of Williamsport, that gene pool is full of alpha men. He is just as outspoken, demanding, assertive, yet caring and protective as the others. Meeting Jodi was the spark that his mother told him about. Jodi, a firecracker, barged her way into his office, and his life. She came to Texas for answers, but got so much more. Enjoyed the mystery of trying to find out who was behind her grandfather's "supposed" suicide. While Micah assisted Jodi with her case, their acquaintance turned to friendship, which blossomed to 💘. It was such a great read! Can't wait to learn of the remaining family. 👍👍👍
Micah rescued a lost little girl ...a little girl lost in the woods...way back then...now fast forward to present...the little girl is all grown up...and back in Texas to take care of her grandfather ashes....they said he committed suicide...but she knew better...Jodi needed Micah's unraveling the mysterious and deadly events she stumbles upon and once again Micah rescues the woman in the woods....
Micah and Jodi are both stubborn but are made for each other. The story is a little predicting but still carries a sense of mystery and suspense to it. It still kept my attention and still good. Jodi shows that she handle her own but doesn't mind creating her safe place in Micah's arm and heart. For her, he happily breaks his long time standing vow because she barge into his life and heart and he couldn't let go.
Tiffany Patterson and these HOT Alpha Townsend men. Micah was an excellent start for a book about the Texas men in the family. And id anyone could be as stubborn as he was it's Jodi the fixer. A great romance between two smart, stubborn, talented people that will lead to lots of adventure. A great book that I couldn't wait to read. Well worth the wait
Jodi is one tough cookie 🍪 due to her grown ass woman moto. Enjoyed Micah alpha male demeanor, he took no crap. Jodi was making my guy want to pull his hair. But Joel is my favorite, the man has no filters. You will love him. I guess Gabe story is next. I sense another series with Micah mother's side of the family. Crossing my fingers!
Wow, just wow!!! The first of the Texas Townsend series was so good I couldn't put it down. It was suspenseful, romantic, and everything a good book needs. Thanks Author Tiffany Patterson for another great read.
I wanted to love this book so much. I instead I just liked it. The story was good, the plot was good. Micah was amazing. I almost stopped reading this book because of Jodie. She was written as one of those women that is head strong to the point of stupidity. I will stop reading an author because of that. Yeah, Jodie could fight and she was intelligent, she was also a rude know-it-all. I just didn't like her character. The fact that she got angry over a childhood incident, because Micah didn't tell her he was the boy in the woods when Jodie got lost at the age of six. Really. I am reluctant to read the other books.
Not going to lie I was kind of disappointed with this book. It’s my first read in like 2 months, but I wasn’t really feeling it.
Micah was ok I guess but I really didn’t like Jodi. I think her character was supposed to be a strong woman who didn’t take shit, but more times than not she just came off as unnecessarily rude and bitchy. I’ll say Micah came off rude ass hell at times too instead of the alpha male that leaves me ooh ok sir.
The premise of the story was good, though I think Jodi and micah’s original meeting was contrived. I think if I liked the main characters more, especially Jodi, I could’ve enjoyed the story more. I do look forward to sy and ace’s stories bc i tend to truly enjoy Tiffany’s books
Missed hearing about the Townsend crew. Enjoyed the book. I liked this time that you had a female character that has a short cut/fade. I enjoy seeing different characteristics with brown girls. No stereotypical descriptions of Insta thots that are lighted skinned with long flowing hair, small waist, thick butt and ambiguous/ "exotic" features. Please show brown/caramel/red bones and ebony colored skin girls in all our glory...with kinky/shoulder length pressed/ or curly naturals, thick with not so flat stomachs or skinny with small breast, etc. We are all beautiful with our brown eyes and flat or wider noses and we should see it reflected in this genre as well
I usually enjoy books by this author. But I had to force myself to finish. Jodi was absolutely unlikable. She was bratty and obnoxious. It was like she was the man here. The plot took too long to get through. Just boring
This is a lifetime movie in book form. That’s not an insult, but it’s not a compliment either.
The story was okay but predictable, and the dialogue felt robotic at times. There were a lot of elements that felt good but, in the end, didn’t come together nicely. I kept hoping for more out of each piece of the story and felt disappointed at the end.
Even though they were trying to solve a case that actively involved the main character, the suspense was lacking. I knew who the culprit was as soon as they showed up. Plus, it felt like pieces of information were being thrown at me. As if the author was searching for ways to connect the story and found them as she was writing. Then, once we arrived at the end, the story moved at warped speed, much like a lifetime movie does.
The real reason to get into this is Jodi and Micah. They’re both powerful characters with great chemistry. I only wish I’d gotten more time to explore their connection more. However, if it weren’t for them and a couple of side characters, I probably would’ve marked this a DNF.
Overall, I did enjoy myself and If you’re looking to pass the time, definitely pick this up. But if you’re looking to get out of a reading slump or a page-turner. Maybe find something else.
I absolutely enjoy reading this book. I couldn't get enough of Mitch and Jodi. Esp how bad butt Jodi is. She's kicking butt and taking names. No one was going to stop her from handling her business. And as much as that frustrated Mitch, he was going to protect his woman.
I love Hound, he very much reminded me of my own dog. You cannot help but love and enjoy reading about him as well. I love how he is also capture by Jodi personality and Spink, as much as Mitch is.
I like the history between Mifch and Jodi, even though its not a lot. That little bit was enough to give you a feeling of content.
Even though I wish you see more of the brother's ( Ace and Gabe) what made up for it is the scenes with their father Joel. I cannot wait for him to get his own book this is going to be really interesting and funny.
I cannot wait for Gabe book to come out, even though you don't really get any type of feeling for him. Sjnce he wasnt mention all that much. I get the feeling this his book is one that will have a huge personality of its own. One that we're going to least expect. Esp considering all the drama that is going on with Leona and her toxic relationship with her crappie of fiancé.
I’m so impressed with the way Ms. Patterson spins a story and incorporates characters from her other books into the current storyline. In case you didn’t know …like I didn’t at first, the Townsends of Texas are cousins to the Townsends of Williamsport by way of the patriarchs of both families having the same father (one legitimate and one not). Williamsport family (legitimate), Texas family (not legitimate). Anyway, they’re one big family now. I really enjoyed reading about the Williamsport Townsends and after reading the first book in the Texas Townsends story, I am happy to see the drama, suspense, off the shelf attraction and love continues with the Texas family. My suggestion is to start the series with the Williamsport family (although it’s not completely necessary, because each series can stand on its own), and then jump into the Texas family drama.
For years Micah Townsend was avoiding love because he didn't want to go through the heartbreak and devastation that comes along with it. He watched his father fall apart after the death of his mother and vowed not to ever go through that himself. But when the woman of his dreams that he didn't know he was yearning for showed up in central Texas trying to figure out who killed her grandfather, both their lives were turned upside down. Falling in love, running from a dumb age Jodi proved that she can take care of themselves. Micah showed that love can make you change what you know and with Jodi they got their HEA. good read I could not put this book down . Ms. Tiffany I like everything of yours that I have read so far and it alot of your book. Looking forward to book 2. Release date.
