Pasha & Poop, two adorable housecats take on Ebeneezer, the Grinch of all Cats. James Patterson’s funniest animal adventure since Katt vs. Dogg.
When shelter cats Pasha and Poop move in with their new human family, they find themselves up against a ghostly bully. Scaredy Cat demands they follow his rules or he'll cause all kinds of trouble-knock over lamps, spill kitty litter, and even get them shipped back to the animal shelter!
But Pasha and Poop are stubborn and rebellious. They won't follow the Scaredy Cat's ridiculous rules like all of the other pets on the block. Together, they set out to find the truth behind who the Scaredy Cat really is, and how they can end his mischief-making for good.

Instead of humans aiding a spirit to the next world, we have a pair of house cats; Poop and Pasha aiding the evil Scaredy Cat. Those who are looking for stories with cats (that aren't Warrior Cats) will like this.
Shelter cats, Pasha and Poop, are rescued by the same family and enter life with the Wildes. However, life isn't peaceful when a Scaredy Cat appears and wants to make them obey all of his wishes and commands. He wrecks the kitchen and other parts of the house several times to get them kicked out. They continue to rebel and defy him and rally other cats he has terrorized to stand against him too. Plenty of humor for cat lovers and enough action for middle grade readers.
I have to say for a kids book wow! It starts off cute, two little cats at a rescue shelter, they end up adopted by the same family. Then they meet the neighborhood scaredy cat aka bully! He runs the street. When the two new cats don’t fall in line things start to happen in their home. The ending of the story is what concerns me for children...STOP HERE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO READ SPOILERS! So at the end the cats figure out scaredy cat is a ghost! Who wants to teach children ghost exist? That if we help them then we can release them from this realm? I think this might be a too much for children!
My son picked this book because he is obsessed with cats. However, he quickly grew bored of the story. In reality, I think he grew bored of my Pasha Russian accent and my Poop British accent. I, on the other hand, found this story quite charming. Overcoming your own fears is something everyone, young and old, struggle with. I hope that my overly cautious son will someday decide to revisit this book and learn to face his fears.
Cute middle grade book, perfect humorous Halloween read. Pasha and Poop have been abandoned by their human beans, and turned over to a shelter. A new family, the Wildes, adopt them, and things are looking up for the new feline friends. Until the neighborhood Scaredy Cat comes along, and tells Pasha and Poop that it’s his way, or else…
Things I liked : CATS! Also, it’s light hearted and fun, but with hint of spooky, a hearty helping of courage/overcoming your fear, a dash of standing up against your oppressor, and a heaping scoop of compassion and empathy.
Things I didn’t like : it was goofy, but it wasn’t as funny as I was expecting. Also, I bought the book for my 7 year old nephew thinking it would be funny like the other Chris Grabstein books I’ve read, and I think he’s going to be overwhelmed by the ghostly-spooky nature of the story. We’ll see! I’ll update this review after he’s read it and let you all know what he thinks!
Hah, this was a very ridiculous, silly cat story, but my crazy cat lady self loved it. A perfect read for the spooky season. I think Middle Grade readers would also really enjoy this one. However, depending on the age and how sensitive the reader is, I do worry a bit about 'kill shelters' being brought up in the book multiple times. Maybe it's just me, but that is a hard reality to face as an adult, let alone as a child. But, beyond that word of caution, I would highly recommend this to young cat lovers (or the young at heart!)
I love Jimmy books! When I have too much going on to get into a long story line or when I just want a feel good book, I like to pickup a Jimmy book. Scaredy-cat is another great Jimmy book! It should serve as a good lesson for the books appropriate age group, but for an adult, it is a quick and entertaining read! I can see why the Jimmy books are successful, anyone, no matter their age, should be wanting another one!
I can legitimately imagine young readers laughing out loud while reading this. I listened to the audiobook and the voices were FABULOUS; I found myself chuckling quite often. What a great option for a long drive with kids!
When Pasha and Poop are adopted by the exuberant Wilde family, the two cats look forward to a life as cherished companions. But no sooner have they moved into their new home on Strawberry Lane than they’re visited by the ghost Scaredy Cat, who claims dominance over the neighborhood and demands their obedience.
I liked both main characters. They are very good together, the description of the neighborhood is very easy to picture and all the other cats they interact with are interesting.
Five stars from me because whether animals or humans we all have fears to face and seeing others face theirs gives us courage to face ours. A cute story with a good message that everyone needs at least once in their life to hear.
Now I’m a huge fan of James Patterson as many of you know but imagine my surprise when I didn’t know he wrote children’s books and found this in my library. Amazing! This was an easy read that was just over 300 pages, beautifully illustrated throughout and an uplifting, good VS evil read for all children. Perfect for any cat fans. Meet Poop & Pasha two cats who refuse to obey the scaredy cat (the boss) and vow to bring him down. But with all the other cats on the street obeying the scaredy cat will they succeed or fail? The Scaredy cat has a hidden secret that makes him so evil and he cannot risk that secrect being told or his reputation will be ruined. I devoured this. Would highly recommend. Parts were funny. Parts had teamwork and it has a brilliant ending. A well deserved four stars from me.
"And I should warn you--this is not a happy story. This, dear hearts, is a ghost story."
"Those who would give up essential Liberty to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty or Safety." (Benjamin Franklin)
"I suppose that's what one becomes if they allow a Scaredy Cat to terrorize them into blind obedience. Fraidycats are constantly afraid, fearful of every noise, every sudden movement ... Fraidycats are always on edge. Afraid of shadows and strange objects they find that weren't there before."
"Fraidycats seldom have time for fun."
Scaredy cat = only cats can see him; not exactly a ghost
Poop - his family got rid of him because he no longer matched the decor of their house Pasha - his professor died, so Pasha ended up in a shelter The Wildes: Lance, Ash, Mr. and Mrs. Strawberry Lane Little Luigi Ermine
Absolutely loved it! I was just as engrossed in the tale as my children were. The Audible narrator is very skilled and really took the book to the next level. He deserves an award if he hasn't been given one already lol. Planning to listen to it again with my husband while driving on vacation. It will be a third pass for my son in about three months, maybe a bit less, and he's looking forward to it.
I think it would be ok for most kids except for the most sensitive listeners. The theme of kill shelters is touched on. Scaredy Cat's magic could be intense for some very young or sensitive readers readers, but the way it's presented is continually laced with comedy and feels light hearted to me. My kindergartener gave it her stamp of approval, even though I'd originally gotten it for my middle schooler. This was my 24th book of the year, and it's my favorite so far.
A middle grade children's book with some fun characters and an engaging story line. As with James Patterson's other books for adults, this is a page turner in which the story moves fast and the characters are very well fleshed out. The main villain is a ghostly mischievous cat who has a reign of terror on other cats in the neighborhood until two cats (Poop and Pasha) and the Wilde family show up in the neighborhood. The ghostly cat (Scaredy Cat) cannot be seen by human but only by other cats. A funny story with some nice middle-grade jokes and puns.
When shelter cats Pasha and Poop move in with their new human family, they find themselves against a ghostly bully (which is also known as a scaredy cat). The Scaredy cat demands for them to follow his rules otherwise he will cause all kind of havoc like knocking over lamps etc. They were afraid that he might even get them shipped back into the kill shelter! Pasha and Poop are stubborn and rebellious. They are not going to follow the scaredy cat's ridiculous rules. Together they attempt to find out the truth about Scaredy cat and end his mischief making. the book was interesting.
Pasha and Poop have found themselves in a kill shelter, and if they are not adopted soon they will be... Then the Wildes show up and adopt both of them. The cats are in heaven now; the parents and the two kids love them and spoil them. But then Scaredy Cat shows up and demands their allegiance; when they don't agree, he trashes the house and makes it look like they did it. How to stop his reign of terror?
It's a good book. I got it at Walmart for $9.78. My favorite character is Poo because he looks like my cat Chandler. My favorite part is when the cats were enjoying watching a cat channel on Y0utube. I love that and think it's funny because I enjoy watching Youtube and cat videos on Youtube too. At the end I'm happy they found a new home. They did not say where their new home was. I wonder where it is. Now that's all I have to say now bye
Read this with my son I ready enjoyed it and had fun making voices However there's definitely words in there that my child had no idea how to say 😅 so I feel it's definitely a parent reading to a child book unless your child is advanced then good for them 😊
Excellent book! Cute story and humorous! I am very much a cat person! I have a great niece in elementary school that loves cats as much as I do. I’m going to give this book to her to read. I’m sure she’ll enjoy it. James Patterson is a wonderful author for adults and kids!
