Twelve hours isn’t much time, but he’s determined to convince her he’s the one she wants.

New York Times and USA Today bestseller Vicki Lewis Thompson believes love makes the world go around and laughter makes the trip worth taking. The recipient of RWA’s Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award and the author of more than ninety books, Vicki pioneered a new kind of romance hero with Nerd in Shining Armor. Following the success of her nerd stories, Vicki launched a boisterous paranormal series featuring a matchmaking witch and wizard, an ADD dragon named George, and a black cat inspired by her own precocious feline, Eve.
Nick has a thing for Eva the hairdresser. She bids and wins Nick in a fundraising event - and he sets to working on her garden and clearing the attic. Then things get hot and sexy. I love this series. An entertaining read. 5☆
Vicki Lewis Thompson’s True-Blue Cowboy takes readers back to the Buckskin Ranch for Nick Le Grande and Eva Kilpatrick’s story. Nick has been interested in Eva since he first walked into her salon, but Eva only had eyes for CJ. But now that CJ is happily engaged and expecting a baby, Nick wonders if he might stand a chance with Eva after all. His perfect opportunity to woo her presents itself when Eva bids on him at a bachelor auction to raise money for the new Raptors Rise facility being built in Apple Grove. Eva’s prize is Nick performing 12 hours of labor for her, and she definitely needs help around the old Victorian she just bought. And somewhere between bidding way over her budget and putting Nick to work hauling boxes, Eva realizes she might have been eyeing the wrong cowboy all this time. Suddenly, Nick seems like the perfect man for her, which presents a pretty big problem. Eva never intended on finding the perfect man. She was raised by her single, independent-minded great-aunt, and Eve always planned to follow in Aunt Sally’s footsteps. Now Nick has to find a way to win Eva, and it won’t be as easy as placing the winning bid at an auction.
The Buckskin Brotherhood series has more than lived up to the high standard Ms. Thompson set with the McGavin Brothers series that launched it. She always creates such dynamic characters that make readers feel invested in their relationships. Nick and Eva have great chemistry, and they definitely have a lot of sexual tension. But these characters are so much more than a sexy cowboy and his love interest. I found Eva particularly interesting. I appreciate that Ms. Thompson’s female leads tend to be fiercely independent women who value themselves and their ambitions. Eva has all of those characteristics, but she’s also so fixated on following her aunt’s example that I feel like she’s not quite as independent as she thinks she is. To me, Eva isn’t so much making her own choices all the time as she is just repeating her aunt’s choices. Nick eventually gets Eva to acknowledge the deep-seated reasons why she’s so willing to live her life the same way her aunt chose to and gets her to face her particular fears about making a life with someone else, but I found Eva’s somewhat contradictory life choices fascinating. Having this independent, strong woman also be quite vulnerable to her past made me love Eva all the more, which in turn made me root for her and Nick even more strongly.
Ms. Thompson also gives her readers a visit with some of the characters from Eagles Nest in this book. I love that Quinn, Kendra, and Zane all made appearances in True-Blue Cowboy, but the star cameo appearance has to be Ellie Mae. Throughout the McGavin Brothers series, Ellie Mae popped up whenever a character visited the Pills and Pop, and she was always a lovable character. But this book really lets Ellie Mae shine and shows off her hilarious personality. I love that she has a connection to Ed, one of the Buckskin Babes, and I would absolutely adore it if Ms. Thompson brought Ellie Mae back a few more times.
I highly recommend True-Blue Cowboy. I enjoyed every minute I spent reading it, and this trying year has made me appreciate every bit of enjoyment I can find. I received an ARC from the author, which did not influence my review.
Sometimes you get more than you paid for it even when you paid a lot!!
Nick La Grande is so taken by Eva Kilpatrick. He sees so much he wants in her and he really appreciates every fiber of her. He definitely would not be in a salon and would opt for a barber shop when getting his hair done. And he is about to be auctioned off for 12 hours which also isn't his norm.
Eva Kilpatrick is so glad that she is able to bid in the upcoming auction. She's looking forward to getting some assistance with the mini antiques, boxes of valuables in her new place, and get her backyard to look more inviting. Life is finally making sense. She notices she does need some steady assistance.
The auction is a hit and best friends: Fiona, Beth, and Eva got what they wanted for way more than they expected in charity giving. They each look forward to their own adventure with the cowboy of choice they purchased from the auction.
This book is so good that I did not put it down for one moment once opening it. I read it three times as I often do with this author's books. She is definitely an every book is a hit type of author. This book was absolutely fantastic! I have to say the idea of someone being auctioned off and happy about it was so fun to read! I've always wanted to read something like that from this author and my dreams came true!
Everything came into a perfect alignment with this book and it definitely is five stars through and through. A masterpiece keeps getting written each time this author puts pen to paper, fingers to typewriter, or fingers to the keyboard. I am giving my honest review in exchange for the copy of this novel I received.
Major swooning alert! Nick is exactly my favorite kind of hero. He has had his eye on Eva for months because, as he mentions in the first chapter, she is "hard-working, disciplined, and beautiful." Right away we know that he appreciates her for who she actually is and wants to find out more. Nick is such a gentleman and treats Eva with respect through the whole book. I just love him! Eva is all those things that Nick sees and more. She is loyal and kind and lots of fun. She is exacly the kind of person you would want for a friend. She knows what she wants out of life and is willing to work for it, but she is also committed to one path with no possibility for deviation. She has to decide if she is brave enough to risk that plan for Nick. I really liked the secondary characters, too. Fiona and Beth were very funny and supportive. I also want to know what is up with Garrett and Leo. But I really, really need Rafe's story. He has had my attention from the first book in the series, and the poor guy has a rough time in this book. One highlight of the book is the joining of the Whine and Cheese Club with the Buckskin Babes to help with the bachelor auction. I laugh every time I think about those two groups together! While there are some serious conversations in here, there are also a lot of laughs. Nick and Eva get into the silliest scrapes. Their banter is terrific, and the secondary characters tease them a lot. This is a fun book all the way around!
This addition to the Buckskin Brotherhood was a sweet story. We are back in Apple Grove and this time the Buckskin Brotherhood member that gets his story is Nick La Grande. A faithful friend and one that is always helping others. He met hairstylist Eva Kilpatrick a while back when he started getting haircuts in her shop and was smitten from that day on. While he’s crushing on her, Eva is clueless. But things change when Eva finds out Nick offering 12 hours of manual labor to the person that “wins” him in the bachelor auction. Having just bought an older home and needing lots of help, Eva outbids everyone and wins Nick. Thus starts an affair . But what happens when Eva’s fears sends Nick away? A man that is thoughtful and cares for her? The story is a reminder that our childhood does in fact affects us as adults . Sometimes keeping us from being truly happy. Though for me this was more of a 3 stars story, I have great respect for the author and will give it a 4 stars. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Oh my, what a perfect mix of the Apple Grove and Eagle’s Nest worlds.
I think this book might be my favourite in the Buckskin Brotherhood series.
I loved it when Ed and Ellie Mae met! That moment was pure perfection. The union encompassed the perfect mood and all the emotions and charm of the two series/worlds. The collision was beautiful.
This book swept me away! It was the perfect Monday evening read especially after my rough day at work. I read it in one sitting and have no regrets.
Thank you Vicki Lewis Thompson for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Readers, this book came out earlier this month! Grab it now for some adorable (and steamy) cowboy romance.
Couldn't help but devour this book with a big bowl of spaghetti. This book is sure to get you craving all the things, cinnamon rolls, breakfast, and of course your very own cowboy.
This is steamy, entertaining and swoonworthy. Nick is hot, sweet, caring, ethical and honorable. Eva is responsible, determined and friendly. When Eva learns that Nick is being auctioned off to do 12 hours manual labor, she thinks it's the perfect opportunity to give to charity, and get her attic done at her house. Nick has been into Eva since the day he met her, but she was into CJ. Now that CJ is out of the picture, and Eva has won him, he plans to use the opportunity to have Eva get to know him. Things go better than either planned when sparks fly and pheremones call. But Eva knows that Nick wants to marry and have kids, and she doesn't. It's hard to say no though when she wants to literally rip his clothes off. This is a wonderful story, and another sweet addition to the series. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
This is the fourth book in The Buckskin Brotherhood series by Vicki Lewis Thompson. It focuses on Nick LaGrande, who works at the ranch and Eva Kilpatrick, who is a hair stylist. Their relationship starts off slow and then simmers and sizzles in the middle after the Bachelor Auction supporting the Raptors Rise. Those sexy cowboys being auctioned off were something else , especially with how they rode into the auction ring. No wonder Eva lost her heart.
This was a fun story where the guy pursues the girl but the girl has cold feet. Too bad Nick's heart is already gone and he will need the Brotherhood to help him find his way. It was interesting to learn about Eva's life and what prompted her to buy her house. Thank goodness she had her Aunt Sally to raise her.
I was surprised by the ending which I enjoyed. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I love the town of Apple Grove. I have read all the books in this series, and this one is my favorite so far. The witty dialog had me laughing out loud at several points. The romance between Nick and Eva is SMOKING hot, and their relationship out of the bedroom is sweet and witty and moving. With Vicki’s books you know you will get a HEA. I can’t wait for the next story in this series. I look forward to ALL the Buckskin Ranch cowboys, and the women they love, getting their happily ever after. I will be right there reading all about it. I loved the fast pace of the story, and couldn’t wait to get to the satisfying conclusion while at the same time not wanting it to end at all. LOVED this book.
Poor Nick had everything going his way until his life crashed and burned. I loved the banter among the young Buckskin Brotherhood and the dedication they have to each other; I enjoyed the charity auction; and, I admired the energy of Zane McGavin as he talked about his project, Raptors Rise. Because the McGavin Series is my favorite, I always love to see what is happening with that great family. I hope to see Eva in future stories and that she has matured and given serious thought to a fulfilling life. There are several sensual scenes in the story-line and recommended for adults. This is a stand-alone book within the Buckskin Series.
Eva Kilpatrick had her life planned out: no marriage and no children, but she didn't plan on seeing Nick LeGrande as anything but her customer or laborer.
Witnessing Nick's entrance and charisma at the bachelor auction, lit a fire in Eva, starting an attraction and chemistry, she wanted to pursue - on HER terms. As things progress between the two, Nick hopes to change her way of thinking.
Will Nick and Eva find a way to work through their differences? Grab a copy of True-Blue Cowboy and treat yourself to another wonderful book in the Buckskin Brotherhood saga.
Vicki Lewis Thompson does romance series better than most! Her imaginary towns and characters become real to the readers. This book is no exception! It seemed like I was finished reading the book soon after I started. It was easy to get lost in the story. I love Nick and Eva as a couple. He's just so sweet and so real. Eva is a real charmer, too. The Babes and the Whine and Cheese Club make the stories even better!! I can't wait for the next book in the series!! I heartily recommend these books!!!
To support a good cause Eva bids on Nick in the town’s bachelor auction. He is providing 12 hours of manual labour and her new home and garden are in need of some muscle. She never expects that his pheromones will send her libido skyrocketing! A recommended read for those who like cowboys and insta-love stories. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Nothing like a man who loves you for the woman he already knows you are. Nick has been patiently waiting for her to notice him and he is up-front and "all-in" [love that]. I can go on and on about this cowboy but I won't spoil it. For me, it was non-stop reading for this fun, heartwarming, steamy, rapidly satisfying story. I received a free advance copy without obligation and am voluntarily reviewing.
True-Blue Cowboy (The Buckskin Brotherhood Book 4) by Vicki Lewis Thompson ... Just finished this book...loved it. Nick and Eva's story was great...they both have some hang ups, he really is a good guy and she has a marriage phobia, there are other great lead-ins for more good stories to come with other Buckskin Brotherhood guys. Some laughs, tears, intense steamy stuff, and great fun all leading to a very HEA. Can't wait for the next book.
I loved Nick and Eva’s story. The book starts with Nick and Eva in conversation at her beauty salon and him trying to keep his attraction to her hidden, literally. He wants her and she has no idea. The cowboys' reaction to the upcoming bachelor auction are varied and real. Past characters are visiting town for the auction and they live up to their past personalities. True-Blue Cowboy moves along quickly with action, sexual tension and lots of fun. Nick and Eva's story meets all my needs.
Well Vicki writes another "can't put it down!" book that I really enjoyed beta reading for her - my bookfunnel copy was Eva and Nick's story and wow what can happen while cleaning out an attic - some surprises and lots of fun to be had - seriously love this series!! I freely leave my review and my honest opinion!
“True-Blue Cowboy”(The Buckskin Brotherhood Book 4)
Great book and an easy read. But...you won’t be able to put it down until you’ve finished it.It starts off with a bachelor auction and takes off from there.Good friends,Cowboys and a little sex make this such an easy read.Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
True-Blue Cowboy: Nick was an honest cowboy! Nick says what's on his mind. People may not like it at first but they understand in the end. Eva is the total opposite to him. She feels she needs to be like her Aunt Sally to keep her independents. Everyone told that's not true. I really enjoyed the heat and challenges between them.
Eva & Nick finally got together after the bachelor auction. Of course Nick fell in love with Eva during his first haircut. Lots of loving (aka sex) in this book but the fact it started with Nick's sweat put a crazy spin on things. Can't wait for Rafe's story.
Oh wow! Nick was definitely a true-blue kind of guy. Exactly the kind of guy that Eva needed. Eva was so stuck in her thinking that it was hard for Nick to break her outer shell. The chemistry was sizzling. I love that these Brotherhood guys are all really good guys down deep.
I literally had a smile on my face through most of this book. Even though there was angst, I couldn’t help the smile. Each one of the books in this series has been A+, but this has gone a step above. A sexy cowboy with a big a big, vulnerable heart is always a win. Book gifted to me.
I love a good cowboy romance and True-Blue Cowboy is such a fun story. A bachelor auction adds a delightful element and you finally get to see Nick and Eva spend some quality time together. I read an advanced copy of this book
This is the fourth book in the Buckskin Brotherhood. Nick fell in love with Eva the first time she cut his hair but she didn't seem to have feelings for him. That is until she bought him at a bachelor's auction. She told him right away she would never get married. This is their love story.
I love this couple. It's quite fun to read, it definitely keeps you laughing. There's A little more of the Buckskin Babes in this who I love. It's R rated for the sex but still a sweet love story.
Started off promising but hit the conflict like a wall, and then solved it in one drunken conversation, and suddenly the book was over. What the hell? Phoning in the endings on these books. Less time spent on sex and lengthier endings, please.
I truly loved this book. But...I'm pissed off at Vicki Lewis Thompson with the quick, flourish "ta-dah!" endings to her books...shorten the lead up so that you can finish them properly. Biggest pet peeve of mine.
As usual this Author does not disappoint you. GREAT series of continuation from book to book. Can't wait until the next book is here to reD. Mary E. Vanderheydt.
