I write post apocalyptic science fiction both on my own account and with Mike Kraus, as well as space opera and fantasy. And one or two other bits and bobs.

Based in the south of England, I've been writing since my teens, alternating between funny and serious. In the mid 1990s, I became a regular columnist for PC Pro magazine and have written a number of business and craft books over the years.

Fiction is my first love, however - I hope you enjoy my voyages into an uncertain future.

Last City Complete is a pulse-pounding, post-apocalyptic thriller that masterfully combines suspense, survival, and human drama. Kevin Partner constructs a world on the brink of collapse, where technology once humanity’s greatest achievement becomes its deadliest vulnerability. The narrative grips you immediately as a mysterious energy pulse annihilates cities and modern civilization crumbles, leaving only Hope, a small Nevada town, standing as humanity’s fragile sanctuary.
The strength of the story lies not just in its thrilling action sequences but in its richly developed characters. Devon Myers, the former British cop with a shadowy past, and Jessie Summers, the enigmatic ally, are compelling protagonists whose growth, courage, and moral dilemmas drive the narrative forward. Partner excels at creating tension and stakes, keeping readers on edge as Hope becomes both a beacon for survival and a target for those seeking power in the chaos.
The storytelling is immersive, with a perfect blend of high-octane action, intricate plotting, and emotional depth. Themes of hope, redemption, and resilience resonate throughout, elevating the story beyond a mere survival thriller. As the first installment in a six-book series, Last City sets a high bar, delivering both a gripping standalone experience and a foundation for an epic saga.
For fans of post-apocalyptic fiction, survival thrillers, and stories about the human spirit prevailing against impossible odds, Last City Complete is an exhilarating, unforgettable read.

I'll give it 5 stars

I'll give this series an overall 5 stars. I enjoyed it. I was bugged at first when they referred to a Luger as a revolver. Then they called it a Ruger which meant the first reference was a typo - and that bugged me. But the real problem was the action sequences. I don't know which of the authors wrote the action, but the sequences don't flow well. The author knew in his head what was going on but it's like they made too many assumptions that the reader also knew what was going on. Either that, or, they lacked the vocabulary to adequately describe the action. And, the narration of the gunfights is juvenile. Who literally writes "bang" or "boom," etc. They need to read how a real author describes a gunfight without writing " rat-a-tat-tat. " Finally, we get it you guys are sci-fi and fantasy nerds. One reference to Tolkien is fine. But repeated nods to The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Trek, Disney, etc, are juvenile and distracting. Every time I read about a reference to one of those series I said to myself "this is the author talking," which pulled me out of the story. But, despite the aforementioned issues, I stuck with it and enjoyed it overall.

Exciting

Exciting yet improbable, but that's why it's called fiction. However i can fully imagine a group like the 'Son's of Solomon' coming out of the woodwork, especially given today's geopolitical standing.
Would people be able to fight back effectively given the circumstances? That remains to be seen.
I do have one real pet-peve though. It seemed that sooner or later nearly every character started speaking in stereotypical red neck vernacular. No matter where they came from, it would show up in the speech pattern in places it didn't fit.
Nevertheless I enjoyed the story

There's always Hope to be found!

Hope Nevada is a place where reality, ordinary people, and hope for survival take place. There are those who rule with kindness and then there's the evil ones. Will communities servive the evil? This series is full of emotional turmoil and the fight for survival. Excellent read

Last City

This was a super book series. I’ve read several end times books but this was a new concept of using technology and electricity to plunge us into the dark ages. Survival at its best. Great read with strong characters. Big D

Just interesting enough to keep reading

Magazines called clips, a shotgun being referred to as a rifle and a Honda Civic running on diesel. Too many mistakes.

The Last City

This book has fast paced Cition, but it is hard to keep the characters straight because it has so many of them and they hop around from place to place.
