Malakai is a hockey player, he is pretty closed off and he never talks about his past in Russia. Charlotte is a musical genius, with a lively and sociable personality. They meet by chance, but soon enough they find out they have a mutual acquaintance, Emerson, Kai’s teammate and housemate and Charlotte’s twin brother. This puts a damper to their relationship, will they refrain to act on their physical attraction? Or will they give in to their strong chemistry?
Shattered Ice was a good read, emotional, hot and amusing, but I didn’t love it as much as the previous books of the series.
The main characters were well depicted and unique, I couldn’t not get attached to them and their lives but I felt the story a bit rushed at certain points.
I adored the ending and I’m already looking forward to Monty Jay’s next work.
Malakai was always calculated, always organized, and I wanted to make a mess of him. Muddy him up until he was so lost in me, he’d never find his way out.
I’d made him break that control. I had pushed him too far, and watching him unravel was something beautiful.
In a tragic way.
Religion wasn’t my thing, but if Charlotte was a religion, I’d worship at her temple every night. I’d pledge my sins to her altar, beg her forgiveness in confession because holding her felt like I had faith in something.
“I could burn this place to the ground with what I feel for you.”
She made me feel safe. Unstained.
“I’m not capable of loving you the way you deserve, but I have the nerve to love you anyway.”
“Whatever happens, this family has you. Your family always has you, just like you had us.”
