The Amarna Age #4

Gates of Anubis

Rate this book
The Eye of Horus is almost within Ankhesenamun's grasp. She now knows it definitely exists and she even knows where it was hidden just a few years ago. But when she reaches her destination, what awaits her there is nothing like she had expected.

She was warned the gods wouldn't allow the Eye to be easily found. She was told she might crave its power for herself. She didn't take either warning seriously enough.

Ankhesenamun will be tested until she breaks and only then will the gods decide whether she is permitted to wield the Eye. But even if they decide she is worthy, will the price be more than she can pay?

The Amarna Age is set in 18th Dynasty Egypt in a world where the old gods have been worshipped for thousands of years and magic is a matter of belief. For readers of dark fantasy who enjoy an historical setting.

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Kylie Quillinan

1. I studied Ancient Greek at university because I wanted to read Homer in his own language.
2. I’m fascinated by miniatures and tiny things, and am building my own dollhouse.
3. I studied to be a journalist because I thought that would provide a more reliable income than writing. I hated it because I wasn’t telling my own stories, only repeating what somebody else had already said.
4. If I wasn’t a writer, I would have been a marine biologist except that I get very, very sea sick. I’m also claustrophobic under water so that was never going to work out.
5. I never ever look into a mirror in a dark room.

Oh, good. Now not only is she exponentially stupider than she was in the last book, but she’s also growing nastier and crazier!

Why do I torture myself like this? At this point I’m spite reading until this character finally dies.

I love how they incorporated Egyptian mythology in what seems to be more of a story that views mythology as something far fetched.

The first 3 books I couldn’t put down. This one… I really dislike the character development. :(
