"The Return" is the first book from the trilogy "Odara's Rise." It is a sci-fi/afro-futurism series that introduces Odara, an African American female superhero. Odara is a warrior from the spirit realm who assumes a physical body to carry out her assignments from the Sacred Council, to fight for the greater good of the universe. Odara was created from fire, she utilizes time travel, telekinesis, orbs and spells amongst other gifts and powers to carry out her assignments in an effort to restore balance and harmony to the universe.
I enjoyed this one for its simple, straightforward elegancy. If I have a complaint it is that the book is short for me, at 170 or so pages.
It's a classic good versus evil story, a warrior of light must protect a family from a spirit of evil. It is well told in its brief elegance. You read in the narrative an enjoyment of the finer things of life and all that's good.
I see that book two is out, I'll be looking to pick that up and looking forward to book three in the series.
