Bringing your boyfriend to meet the family is one thing, bringing him for the sole purpose of fulfilling a wish before your grandmother's last breath is another. A short sweet romance of clashing values, understandings, and love overcoming all.
This is a sweet coming out story. The narrator goes home to India to visit his beloved, ailing grandmother for the last time. After a lot of struggle and indecision, he decides to bring his boyfriend, Zander, along with him...even though his family doesn't know. Will they accept the truth? Most importantly, will grandma? This is a charming story, as much about family relationships as it is about romantic love. A quick, heartwarming, read.
Bringing Him was a heartwarming story about family, acceptance, and love.
Focusing on themes like religion and sexuality, Basak did a wonderful job of portraying the struggle so many gay men face daily. With the happy ending that we all hope everyone will find when they come out to their family, this was a sweet, short read that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Sweet, quick story. So quick that I don’t recall the Mc having a name! Unnamed MC brings his ‘roommate’ to India with him to see his Dida (grandmother) before she passes. UMC fixates on how he thinks his relatives will react to his news. Anticlimactic but sweet nonetheless.
Im terrible at reviews. But I'll try to do this short story justice. Julisa has written such a sweet and lovely story centered on being your true self, the love and understanding of family, and of course there's Chai tea. All in all, a great read if you're looking for something that has lots of cultural meaning and a sweet romance filling the short amount of pages.
Such a vibrant sweet story that made me smile! The past tense had a beautiful narration to it, the characters were all distinguishing and had a happy ending! A great quick read ☺️
This is a super sweet story. I love how the author uses details without going overboard with too much information. Her expression if emotions helped me feel what the characters were feeling.
Amazing book with interesting cultural insights! I loved the mcs and the story, sweet even if it doesn't ignore the difficulties of coming out for any queer person. Made me shed the right kind of tears
Short and sweet, with plenty of Indian rep, and a sweet old grandmother who reminds me a little of my own grandmother, this is definitely worth a read.
A sweet short story about family and relationships with LGBT themes. There are a lot of authentic, cultural references that really added to the atmosphere and made the world come alive for me. I enjoyed it and I look forward to reading more from this author :)
