Son of Fire #2

Kraken Killjoy

Rate this book
A new wave of tentacled terror is heading for Foulwater.

Axel is homesick. Yes, exploring a strange new world, discovering new powers, and slaying monsters is all awesomely fun. However, he misses his family, nachos, and whiskey that doesn’t taste like tree fungus.

Then the kraken attack, led by an army of monstrous mermen who are out for vengeance. Or are they? There are secrets in Foulwater Bay that the merfolk will kill for. Axel must bring in new spells, new weapons, and new allies to stop the fin lickers and to take another important step in getting home.

All in the normal day of an isekai hero.

Only, there’s an angelic woman that might ruin everything. Damn, but it seems trouble has wings.

Disclaimer: Kraken Killjoy is a steamy isekai harem adventure like no other. Our hero isn’t shy, and neither are the women of Caranja. There is sex on the page, swearing, smoking, drug use, and goat-milk beer. Enter a spicy new world from Aaron Crash, the bestselling author of American Dragons and the Princesses of the Ironbound.

So, Axel the dragon with amnesia, who is far from home but making Foulwater his home is gaining some of his memories back, and he is missing his big family back on Earth but has no clue how he was going to return to them. More worrying at the moment though was the upcoming attack by the merfolk and his fear that more lives of the Fowlwater people would be lost. Axel was on the continent of Xid, on the planet of Caranja having been summoned there by the sorceress Finniwigg Nightshine, who together with Rheesee Helleen, the slutty pirate elf, had become his women. The merfolk came for revenge and to get back their treasure which they accused the people of Fowlwater of stealing from them, and for the Vanka Jalana and though the first fight was won the merfolk would surely return in full force. So Axel, Figg, Rhee and Dryx, the Jataksha sky warrior, left for Sweetleaf in order to find more of the Pentakorr brands to gain more magical powers and to confront the Stallion King who was buying Jataksha and experimenting on them. Sweetleaf is anything but sweet, and things take a turn for the worst for our group of heroes, however they find help where least expected. I love the continuous adventure, the fact that Axel is gaining his powers, as well as building his escort with such formidable women by his side. However I found the book to be quite politically incorrect especially when referring to people with disabilities the references being too crude for my liking. Otherwise the story is full of sex and debauchery which is very blatant therefore this is a book for a mature audience who enjoys a reverse harem style of novel. I love the continuous banter and fun even during the fights and look forward to the next book in this series with hopefully more women added to the escort!

…… will there be a book three?

Okay, this better not end here… if it does I will be beyond disappointed. I read Ymir’s story second, so I already know what happens with certain things in the story… but this book ended with NOTHING answered… at the end of Ymir’s book Axel had everything tidied up and he had more women… WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN? sighs, if this book ends at two I will be disgusted. I gave this book a three because of the circles it ran in. I don’t want to say anything because it will be spoilers… but this book could have been way better… especially with our winged girl… so many unanswered questions. Sighs

Sometimes you have to lose everything to discover who you are...

Young Axel has regained some of his lost memories and his Dragon powers in his effort to save Foulwater from invaders. But while one enemy is defeated, another has set their sights on this small coastal town. Axel works to regain his strength as a dragon to help defend the town and the new friends made. In the process he regains some of his memories as he works to discover who he is, where he came from, and what kind of dragon he is. A dragon to be the hero that the people of Foulwater hoped for.

I love the fact that this series is a part of the world Aaron Crash created for the American Dragons series. Mind you, this series takes place in a totally different world. One vastly different from its predecessor.

Axel reminds me so much of his father, Steven Drokharis, when he'd first set out to save the dragons. Though his current situation is different from his father's, his end goal is the same—to save the people and the world that has come to mean so much to him. Doing so will take quite a bit of doing, however.

Aaron has taken so many gaming elements and modeled them in such a way that it sort of makes you want to 'play' the story while reading it. Axel's journey takes him to so many places. You can almost imagine everywhere he goes and what he and the others do every step of the way. There's no telling what's coming next for him and his girls, but I can't wait to discover the next part of their journey once book three comes out soon enough.
