Fourteen years old Su Bei almost died when she had a high fever, got transmigrated into another world and finally knew a shocking truth–it turned out that the world she was originally in was just a novel and her whole family were villains.
The woman who gave birth to them was the cannon fodder in the novel. She and Su Xiaobao were written like this in the extra chapter. One was a little bastard who tried to bully the male lead’s daughter and eventually got thrown into prison and the other one became an escort, who after had failed to seduce the male lead, was killed by an evil director. They also have a dad whom they never met and was the biggest villain in the book.
Back to her original world, the first thing Su Bei did was to take Su Xiaobao and find their father.
Su Bei: Su Xiaobao, quick, call him.
Su Xiaobao: Call him what?
Su Bei: Call dad.
Su Xiaobao: I don’t want to, do it yourself.
Su Bei: Dad!
Looking at these two dirty children in front of him, Mr. Qin’s eyes showed disgust.
1. Girl falls into coma, lives four years in alternative universe where her old life is a novel and she's a villain kid, come back, and tries to fix things so that she and her brother stay alive and well.
2. Too much fluff and not enough plot. Protagonist switches between being naive + childlike and hyper-competent. There's not enough emotional continuity. There are funny scenes here and there but not enough plot or urgency connecting them to really make me pay attention. Could be the result of a mood read but I'm going to put it in the did not work pile because I only have so much time.
I enjoyed the heck out of this book for 85% of it. I don't care how cliche or unrealistic it is; it was fun and cute and sweet and laugh out loud funny. 4v ftw!
Then the romance part kicked in at the last minute and I skipped the whole thing because the male lead isn't my choice at all and reading it made me unhappy so I'll pretend it didn't happen. :)
Mano tu hijastro QUIERE MATAR A TU HIJO.
Su Bei got bullied at school. She had a high fever and during that one night process, she somehow transmigrated into another world. She spent 4 years in that world and because she was sick, she mostly stayed in bed, reading. One of the book she read happened to be the story about her. Yes, Su Bei found out that she was just a character in a book with a bad ending at that. After she return to her world, she decided to change the plot of the book.
The story had a lot of loopholes. The writer had this trope where they will started something but, end it in a rush. For example, the family went on an outdoor school activities where they have to camp. Apart from climbing mountain, building tent and cooking, there's basically nothing else. The writer like to tell the readers instead of showing it.
What made the story bearable was the interaction between Mr Qin, Su Bei and Su Bao. It was funny because Mr Qin was a daughter-con and Su Bao was a sister-con.
Towards the end of the main story, it was implied that Mr Lin, who was 20 years old at the time, had a romantic notion towards Su Bei who was 14. The reason was that they met online and Mr Lin assumed that Su Bei was in college. I guess the writer thought it was best to tackle that plot. And so, time-skipped.
It gave me whiplash. If that's not enough, there's a second time-skipped. The writer should just end the story with just Mr Qin, Su Bei and Su Bao without and romantic play in it because it's not needed.
And then the extras. The main story already had lots of loopholes. And yet, the writer decided to throw in extras. Instead of giving a glimpse on Su Bei having kids or Su Bao having girlfriend or Mr QIn finally getting approved by the twins to find a wife or at least what happened to the other characters, the writer gave us WHAT IF.
I'm not even going to mention it. It's like purchasing a fake product at the original price.
I really enjoyed this novel, and especially the extras. Perhaps I'm not feminist enough, but I had no problems with the gendered way the dad treated the twins (must pamper daughter, temper son). He eventually shows that he actually loves both of them, and the FL is so strong she never actually becomes spoiled. Would this be the right way to treat children in real life? No, of course not. But it's a novel and I find all the pampering absolutely adorable, and a funny contrast to the ridicule for the brother.
That said, I found this novel to be wonderfully fluffy. It's healing to read about how the FL manages to turn around her life, work hard to build a better future for her family, and learn to open her heart to her father. The siblings' relationship is so protective of each other. The romance I think is done perfectly, if a bit rushed (I get the sense the author didn't know how to write slice of life). The love interest realizes his feelings early on, but restrains them until both are old enough, and his feelings have been confirmed as genuine. I think the love development is actually very reasonable, and I love how it's based on fl's intelligence, not appearance.

The setup for the story was brutal and sad, but the change and aim for better started immediately. If you go with the flow, a nice hook and run of the emotional gauntlet to get the reader invested and interested.
The first half was great! Nice setup of characters, jerks and conflicts. Unfortunately, the story turned into predictable summaries and cute moments towards the end. Overall, the story was another fluffy fun.
The ending is quite abrupt. The author doesn’t tell much further about the love story between the Qi Yu and Master Li after they got together. After they’ve declared that they are together, the plot is much fast paced after that. Suddenly they got married and the book is already ended. :(
Is it me or was it really boring. I managed to get through 1/3 of the book on sheer monentum. In the beginning I thought that it would get better as it went, but unfortunately I landed into a puddle and couldn't get out. The premise was rather interesting, but overall it wasn't worth it.
Liked it enough to reread even though initial rating was 3 stars apparently? Changed it to 4 on second read.
It's a very mild, family-oriented novel. Characters are quite OP but not illogically so. Family interactions are very heartwarming, though there is a tiny bit of romance slapped on at the end- which I found a little unnecessary, though it did round up and carried the MC into her adult life. Loved the extra <3 it was heartbreaking but warming at the same time TT
Such a wholesome heart warming story. No, it's not exactly 'realistic', nor is it progressive in any way, but sometimes you just want a light read that makes you happy, and this is it!
Also, some may be put off by the translations - it does get better, and you can actually pick up on what the original Chinese phrases were probably like, so you might like it if you're interested in the language.
