I have mixed feelings about this boxed set. I would give the first book, The Viscount's Vow, 3 stars because I did not like the lead characters Ian. I thought he was a bit mean-spirited at first and I did not warm to him. The plots of the books felt contrived but I know it is difficult to come up with a fresh Regency theme. The female lead Vangie, was a good character and I liked her part-gypsy heritage and training in weapons. The second book, the Highlander's Hope was better but again the plot was overwrought and contrived. There was excitement with the spies and the stalker step-brother but I felt that the bad guys went to a lot of trouble and expense to pursue Evvy across three countries and I never totally understood all the motivations of the evil-doers. The romance was well done and had lots of angst and sexual tension and there was a good level of steam. But there was also some melodrama. The Laird/Viscount Ewan was a well developed and swoon-worthy character and his family and clan were compelling. I would give this book a solid 4 star rating. I have not read the third book which is a continuation of the others and don't know if I will.

Revenge minded Ian Hamilton plans on ruining Vangie Caruthers. Vangie just wants to be free of the lecherous minded men of the ton & to find love. Caught & forced to marry Vangie intends to make the best of the situation & loses her heart to the man she married. Collette writes in a way you can completely lose yourself in the story. Couldn't wait to start the next story!

Throwing these two together at every turn makes Roarke realize that proper decorum isn't always the only way & makes Adaira realize that some men can be trusted. Another superb novel by Collette Cameron!!

The Viscount's Vow: Thrilling story of a half Romani Princess Vangie, whose parents have died and she now is on the marriage mart. She lives with her cousin Yvette (Castle Brides 2) and her loving Uncle and Aunt. Ian Hamilton, the new Viscount Warrick since his brother and father have recently died, is at the ball to spy on Vangie. He has been told she is the reason both his loved ones have died. He is out to expose her as the loose moral half-gypsy vixen that she is. Only she isn't. She has no clue what has happened and can not understand why Ian is paying her any attention. He dances with her and while they are dancing she faints. He takes her to a room instead of getting help and her lips suddenly turn blue. Panicking he loosens her stays and gets her to start breathing. However she is partially undressed and now others have walked in on them. To avoid ruination they must marry. Where he learns she is not loose and is terribly confused. He brings her home where she is treated horribly by his step mother and with a lot of treachery going on she decides to live with her grandmother. Which by the way is divorce to the gypsies. Now the King of the gypsies wants her and Ian is not pleased with that. He has to win her back and even proves to be a champion of the gypsies which of course wins his wife's heart back...but still more treachery awaits them home

Heart of a Highlander: Short tale explaining the Laird Ewan McTavish's (Highlander's Hope) mother Giselle's own love story. She was married and loved Ewan's father Liam. He died when he was a child and his father's good friend Hugh Ferguson (father of Adaira :The Earl's Enticement, Isobel: Virtue and Valor, Seonaid: Scandal's Splendor)...has loved and watched over him as his own son. Giselle has been watching Hugh watch Ewan...feeling a bit guilty she keeps her growing attraction to herself. On Valentine's Day after visiting her husband's grave the snow starts falling very hard. Hugh rescues both Liam and Giselle and guides them to the keep. Hugh not be able to stand it any longer tells Giselle how he feels. She feeling the same tell Hugh she loves him and agree to marry. HEA yet again!!! Yes it was quick and too short but a wonderful beginning to 4 more loving children stories...fun family as well!

Highlander's Hope: Yvette and Ewan shared a dance at her cousin's wedding (The Viscount's Vow) and then left for America. While there her step-brother murders her parents and tries to force her to marry him. She escapes back to England but now has other's who true to kidnap her. Ewan, still working for the crown, knows who are after Yvette and tries to protect her. He agrees to escort her to the northern estate of her cousin. On the way, they are caught in a compromising situation and pretend to be married. Now on the way some Assassins want Ewan dead so Yvette gets caught in the middle! Ewan calls for aid (since he is Laird) many Scots arrive to help. While in Scotland they get caught in a snowstorm. At the pub Ewan is force to say out loud that they are married. Yvette not knowing any better way it back to Ewan. Well in Scotland that is legal and binding. Now Yvette has to fix that mess and hide from her stepbrother and dodge the Assassin! All the while Ewan wants nothing more than to stay married. Will Yvette finally find someone who loves her for her?? HEA of course

The Earl's Enticement: I have truly enjoyed this series!! Adaira Ferguson is a fiery Scotswoman (half-sister of Ewan McTavish from Highlander's Hope book 2 of Castle Bride series) who was seriously attacked as a young woman. She wears men's clothing and acts like a man. She hides behind this farce so men pay her no attention. On one of outings she comes across Roark Marquardt, The Earl of Clarendon (Ewan's brother-in-law & Yvette's half-brother), thinking he is Yvette's other half-brother (who is out to kill Yvette) she imprisons him and waits for her brother to return. Once her brother returns she learns she has made a horrible ILLEGAL mistake. To imprison a nobleman is quite the crime; however, Roark agrees not to press charges IF Addy becomes and act like a lady at His estate in England for the one month. Even maybe have a season, something she does not want. So the family agrees, what else can they do, and accompany Roark to his home. Well one thing after another happens always with Addy in the middle...sometimes I found myself pinching the bridge of my nose....lol that girl can find trouble, Roark finally realizes he loves her the way she is...After some real dangerous threats appear, Roark runs away with Addy to save and protect her. The two agree to marry and face the trouble together. Roark faces his fears of the past and Addy comes to terms with her past. Both not caring about gossip or lies! A true HEA!

THE VISCOUNT'S VOW - This is a great start to a new series & Ms. Cameron always has entertaining stories to go along with her endearing, fun & witty characters! Ian, Viscount Warrick has only revenge on his mind for his brother's death. Evangeline "Vangie" Caruthers is finds herself involved & things go from bad to worse when wedding bells are forced upon Ian & Vangie. The book has a little of everything in it from attempted murders to evil stepmother with some humor, romance, love in between. I highly recommend this story & it's wonderful characters to all historical romance readers.

HIGHLANDERS HOPE - Heiress Yvette Stapleton is beautiful, rich & single and she is running from a man who is trying to kidnap her & force her to marry him so he will have her money. He is willing to even murder to obtain the end result he desires. She is strong willed & will be successful in her own future without being tied to a husband - which she does not want. In an attempt to escape, she stows away on a ship out of Boston sailing to England to obtain help from her solicitor.

Ewan McTavish, Viscount Sethwick & Laird of Craiglocky Keep has one more mission for the Crown before he resigns. He has never forgotten a young lady he met and danced with at a wedding (The Viscount's Vow) and now he has met her again.

When Yvette and Ewan meet again, she is trying to escape her pursuers and finds herself in Ewan's carriage. After discovering more about Yvette's problems, Ewan is bound to protect her from her enemy and at the same time find the traitor he has been after - as they are the same person. The danger, adventures, denial, and fighting are entertaining and finally lead to a HEA. I highly recommend this book and the series to all historical romance readers.

THE EARL'S ENTICEMENT - I love Collette Cameron's books and she always gets things moving along quickly, plunging into the story with wonderful details, lovable characters (both main & secondary) with humor and a unique plot. This was an entertaining read and I highly recommend this book and the series to all historical romance readers.

HEART OF A HIGHLANDER - This was a very short story but the details, descriptions with a sweet and loving story were amazing - I really don't know how I experienced so much from such few words but Collette Cameron did it! This is the Prequel to Castle Brides Series, Book 2 Highlander's Hope. It introduces us to Ewan McTavish when he is a baby and his mother & father's love story. Ewan is the hero in Highlander's Hope - all grown up. I highly recommend this book and the complete series to all historical romance readers.

The Viscount's Vow - Hold your breath tension and sweet, sweet moments. Destiny calls in this thrilling and exciting love story for Vangie and Ian after deliberate falsehoods draw these two together in a common cause and love blossoms as fate brings them together both in love and danger.

Highlander's Hope - Danger lurks for Yvette from the very first page. This suspenseful tale will keep you on the edge of your seat as the danger to Yvette continues to build and Ewan falls in love with her as he tries to protect her from a madman.

The Earl's Enticement - Roark & Addy, what a fun romantic mis-adventure this was to read. Mistaken identity by Addy leads her to imprison Roark in the mistaken belief that she's saving Yvette from danger. Instead she finds herself in danger of falling in love with him as he too finds himself falling for her as the danger Edgar threatens, looms ever closer.

Heart of a Highlander - Sweet novella as Giselle finds love for a second time with Hugh who has fallen in love with her and is ready to be a husband to her and a father to Ewan. If I could, I would love to see a more in-depth story about them, but this does give us a wonderful background of their love story and as loving and caring parents to their children.

The Viscount's Vow
The Viscount’s Vow is one of those page-turning romances that you can’t put down. This is book one in Cameron’s Castle Bride’s series. I absolutely loved the heroine in this story. Evangeline Caruthers is such a gentle loving soul. I grow weary of “independent sassy heroines” who are actually just hard-hearted. The hero Ian Warrick is a swoon-worthy rogue filled with angst and the desire for revenge after his brother and father died. His desire to see justice done leads him to commit a foolish act that forever seals his own fate. Not everything is as it appears on the surface of Ian’s life and he has allowed himself to be lead down a road of fury and vengeance by an unknown enemy. Cameron does a masterful job of giving her characters depth and feeling. I am looking forward to the rest of the books in this series.
Highlander's Hope: This is one of my favorite books by this author. I really admire the heroine Yvette in the story. There are unexpected twists and turns that kept me flipping the pages. Another masterful story.
The Earl's Enticement: I thought this story was the darkest one out of the compilation. I really liked the hero Roark. He is one of those brave men of integrity. I wasn't a huge fan of the heroine Adaira. I wished for more humor in this one.
