The generation starship Pioneer continues her centuries-long journey across the vastness of space. Joseph has returned to hibernation. The passengers are safe.
For now.
When the ship suffers an unexpected malfunction, Preslan is brought in to help identify the source. Joining Tyson on the bridge, it isn’t long before they determine there’s more to the anomaly than meets the eye.
Much, much more.
Not only is the ship off-course and headed into the middle of an ancient intergalactic war, but their best defense against the looming danger is the same thing that’s forcing them into it.
The stakes are higher, the odds are greater and time is running out. If they can’t escape the impending chaos, it won’t only be the passengers and crew of Pioneer that are lost...
...it’ll be the entire human race.
Join Joseph, Tyson, Keesha, Preslan, Niko, and the other passengers and crew of Pioneer -- plus a few old friends from the wider Forgotten Universe -- in the third explosive installment of Forgotten Starship.
M.R. Forbes is the author of a growing number of science-fiction series including Rebellion, War Eternal, Chaos of the Covenant, Stars End, and the Forgotten novels. Having spent his childhood trying to read every sci-fi novel he could find (and write his own too), play every sci-fi video game he could get his hands on, and see every sci-fi movie that made it into the theater, he has a true love of the genre across every medium. He works hard to bring that same energy to his own stories, with a continuing goal to entertain, delight, fascinate, and surprise.
He maintains a true appreciation for his readers and is always happy to hear from them.

It's hard for me to quantify the issue I have with this installment of Forgotten Starship. While I enjoyed it, it felt very... monotonous.
I found myself very bored through the first third of the book. I can't explain why, there were interesting events happening but they just seemed to not sit right with me.
However the book does get better in the last half. Offering very interesting combat and events. With even an event that left me surprised.
However this does not make up for the issues in the beginning. Hence my relatively low rating. The book finishes on a very interesting cliffhanger, so my interest in the series remains high. I still recommend this series to anyone interested in the sci-fi/Space Opera genre.
Joseph Cross, Pioneer and new allies take on the Axon directly
***SPOILERS****SPOILERS****SPOILERS**** * * * * * * * * Iagorth comes back with a vengeance, but the Sheriff & Shub-Nigu balance the equation allowing Cross to organize a special ops mission to the Forge and in doing so meets new allies from other parts of the Forgotten Universe who have the same destination and mission in mind. Meanwhile on Pioneer, the ship and in turn Metro, suffers serious damage, as Grant goes to the aid of new allies, gaining new technology and faces a mutiny across Metro and Pioneer. Cross faces his imminent end but determines to fight every second to complete his mission to take the Forge first before succumbing to his certain eventual outcome.
I was engaged until 1/2 way through. After awhile it all becomes too much. There are certain storylines, actions and events I have a hard time rolling with even in this large inventive world-building. I can suspend disbelief only so far and have a real problem with Captain Grant. With a couple chapters left, I started skimming.
First off, I am a fan of most of Forbes's books, but I just couldn't bring myself to finish reading this one. That's saying a lot since this is only the third book of any genre that I've done that to.
The storyline was stretched so far passed believable it ruined the whole thing. To me, it felt like Forbes tried to capitalize on the success of the previous books and the loyalty of his readers.
That said, I'm still a fan and this one book will not deter me from reading any of his other books, Just not any more in this series.
Another great installment in the forgotten universe. And lots of loose ends are slowly being tied up. Wash is back and there may be some hope for humanity as Cross goes up against the forge! Loved it.
This is a part of a greater universe of books that are excellent space marine adventure any of the series is great and this no exception, great story and characters
4.5/5 Stars rounded up. To notch science fiction series. I am ready to dive in to the next one. If you have not started this series by all means get to it. You will not be disappointed.
