Miranda Liasson is a bestselling author who writes about the important relationships in women’s lives. Her heartwarming and humorous romances have won numerous accolades and have been praised by Entertainment Weekly for the way she “deals with so much of what makes life hard . . . without ever losing the warmth and heart that characterize her writing.” A proud native of Northeast Ohio, she and her husband live in a neighborhood of old homes that serve as inspiration for her books. She is very proud of her three young adult children. And though every day she thinks about getting a dog, she fears a writer’s life may bore the poor animal to tears. When she’s not writing or enjoying books herself, she can be found biking along the old Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath trails in the beautiful Ohio MetroParks. Miranda loves to hear from readers!
Coming Home to Seashell Harbor by Miranda Liasson is the first book in the new contemporary romance Seashell Harbor series. As with a lot of romance series the common theme in the Seashell Harbor series is the setting so the main characters will change from book to book. Since there are new characters in each all of the books can be read as a standalone or in any order if choosing to do so.
Coming Home to Seashell Harbor is a second chance romance with Hadley Wells returning to her home town of Seashell Harbor after a very public break up. When Hadley returns she finds that her grandmother is thinking of selling her business, the Pooch Palace and unfortunately for Hadley the interested buyer is the first man to break her heart, Tony Cammareri, who wants to open a restaurant in the building where the Pooch Palace is located.
One of my favorite tropes in romance is a second chance story where characters already have a background to build upon so it wasn’t surprising to find myself easily caught up in Coming Home to Seashell Harbor. I’m also a huge animal lover so having the story revolve around some cute critters also quickly won me over. With likable characters, a lovely setting and a fun plot I was a fan of this opener to the Seashell Harbor series and will definitely want to come back for more in book two.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
This is a well-written, entertaining, contemporary romance novel. It has likable characters, a beautiful setting, small town charm, cute dogs, a touch of humor, a heart-warming, second chance romance, and a happily ever after ending. This is the first entry in Ms. Liasson's Seashell Harbor series. I am looking forward to reading Kit's and Darla's stories with great anticipation. I listened to the audio version of this novel and the narrator, Ms. Kate Marcin, has a lovely voice and does an outstanding job depicting the characters and their personalities.
I have never read a Miranda Liasson novel before, but I’m sure glad I read COMING HOME TO SEASHELL HARBOR! What a beautiful story! I’m very excited to read her previous books now. This absorbing story combines both the beautiful sensory details of a summer harbor town with heartfelt characters, a moving plot, and a story with so much depth. COMING HOME TO SEASHELL HARBOR is a lovely read with characters I rooted for, and some lovely sensory details that brought the town of Seashell Harbor to life. I highly recommend this story if you need a complete escape from life.
COMING HOME TO SEASHELL HARBOR explores family dynamics, loss, secrets, and a new romance! Miranda Liasson handles difficult topics and has the reader cheering for everyone to succeed. When I started reading COMING HOME TO SEASHELL HARBOR, I didn’t know I’d come to love it this much. Where to start? Hadley is such a great character, full of life and warmth. I loved how she didn’t let her past troubles destroy herself completely. Her decision to come back to Seashell Harbor is a turning point in her life. I am so happy that she made this choice. She grew and learned a lot about herself and life itself while being there. The interactions between all the characters in this small town, where everyone knows everyone else, are vividly told and enjoyable to read. Love, hope, second chances and the importance of community are the threads that bind this book together beautifully.
I enjoyed the language, the conversations and the very real feel of COMING HOME TO SEASHELL HARBOR. Tony is back in Seashell Harbor for good after an injury ends his pro-football career. Hadley is back for a while to heal her wounds after being publicly dumped by her film star boyfriend for another woman. She us devastated, embarrassed, and just wants to crawl under a rock and hide. She learns that her grandmother has broken her hip. When she gets to hospital to see Gram, Gram gives her a sticky note from Tony. Hadley hates sticky notes because that’s how Tony broke up with her in high school.
I don’t want to say too much for fear of giving away too much of COMING HOME TO SEASHELL HARBOR, but once I started reading this beautiful and heart breaking story, I could not stop! Everyone should have this unforgettable book on their summer/fall reading list. The dialogue between Hadley and Tony is sometimes funny and other times frustrating! They both have secrets and without letting them out, they will not be able to move forward. I was instantly emotionally invested in all of the characters from page one and I can not wait to read more by this wonderful and heart tugging author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Forever Books. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Miranda Liasson opens her brand new Seashell Harbour series with one of my favourite tropes, in that Hadley Wells and Tony Cammareri are very much on the second-chances train, but there’s also a huge dollop of frenemies thrown into the first half for good measure as well.
Tony’s back in town for good after an injury ends his pro-football career, Hadley back for a while to lick her wounds after being publicly dumped by her film star boyfriend for another woman. Both of them have their sights set on her Grandma’s shop Pooch Palace but not for the same reasons. Reasons that ultimately put them on opposite sides of firmly drawn battle-lines. But Seashell Harbour is a small town, and it seems everyone has a vested interest in making sure this couple stay in town, and that they try and work out their differences…
When she’d fallen in love with him, he hadn’t had fame or money. She’d just loved him…
The first half of this book was more a case of getting to know the town and its residents while Tony and Hadley verbally sparred and tried to outdo each other in relation to them both wating her Grandmothers property. The rebuilding of their relationship plays out more in the second half. I enjoyed this book, its definitely slow burn, but that was kept moving by the world and character building Miranda did which I think will grow and develop even more as more books are released.
I loved the inclusion of dogs into the story too, pets always add an extra dimension, and enough hints were dropped in regard to which secondary characters are likely to end up with whom when their books are released, so-much-so that I am eager for more.

… he started the car with a little jolt. “Hold on to your sunbonnet, sugar.” “Call me sugar again and you’re going to be wearing it yourself.”
My Review:
This was a refreshing and enjoyable second chance romance with relatively low angst, adorable animal rescue, endearing characters, and a realistic level of conflict. Just what I needed to unwind and relax my shoulders down from my ears after reading several intense thrillers in a row. The writing style was engaging, insightfully observant, thoughtfully detailed with vibrant and amusing descriptors, and remarkably easy to follow despite being the first in a series and introducing a community of new characters. The pace was pleasantly smooth and steady with an excellent flow into each segue. Miranda Liasson is an agile and deft storyteller and I effortlessly slip right into her breezy tales of romantic women’s fiction. She holds a steadfast entry on my favorites list.
3.75 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ARC received in exchange for an honest review. My favorite "small town" romance author. and I found... "Coming Home to Seashell Harbor" to be a wildly entertaining second chance romance. It was a fun romance that also made for a perfect escape read . Who doesn't love......enemies to lovers...and the plus factor here is..... cuddly animals (namely dogs)!! Bring it on ...book 2 of the series.
This was my first book by Liasson. It was a great setting. I loved the dogs and the whole rescue part of the story. I loved the Grandma so it had some great aspects. What I did not care for was how long it took Hadley and Cam to get back together it streamed along forever. I needed it to happen and move on with the story. With that said I gave this summer read 3 stars. The Mary Reader received this book from the publisher for review. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are our own.
Coming Home to Seashell Harbor is a spirited, heartwarming, second-chance romance that mixes the independent, fiery Hadley, who’s determined to do whatever it takes to keep the doors of her grandmother’s “Pooch Palace” open for business, and the successful, driven Tony, who now that his football career has been sidelined due to injury is focused on cashing in on his fame by buying up the perfect location for a new restaurant he hopes to eventually turn into a chain.
The prose is amusing and light. The characters, including all the supporting characters, are quirky, supportive, and kind. And the plot is a fun-loving, flirty blend of tricky situations, tender moments, humorous mishaps, self-discovery, friendship, family, happiness, romance, and adorable four-legged friends.
Overall, Coming Home to Seashell Harbor is a humorous, entertaining, enjoyable treat by Liasson that’s a promising start for this new Seashell Harbor series and is the perfect choice for anyone who loves endearing characters and small-town charm.
Thank you to Forever & Grand Central Publishing for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Hadley Wells pretty much swoons every times she is around first love Tony Cammareri. They are both back in Seashell Harbor but for very different reasons. For Hadley, her grandmother is recovering from an injury and Hadley is in town to assist her. Having had her heart broken recently, this gives Hadley a time to heal, all while pursuing a dream she once had. WIth regard to Tony, he had the ideal football career but all that is gone due to a career-ending injury. He has an idea to start a restaurant,
Hadley and Tony both have fond memories of their past, although their lives have gone into different directions for years. Will they get a second chance at love despite major obstacles in their path? There is a building up for grabs - will it be for a no-kill shelter Hadley dreams of starting, or for Tony's new restaurant? Only one of them will get the building. Will pursuit of their dreams push them further apart than ever, even though the spark of attraction is so powerful between them?
I had Coming Home to Seashell Harbor as an audiobook ARC and I was very pleased with Kate Marcin's narration. She did a fine job with the various voices and inflections and this added to my enjoyment of an already warm story. This is the first book in a new series and that makes my heart sing. I enjoyed the story, the characters and the competion between them. There was an additional character who snagged my heart and that was Hadley's grandmother. Then, factor in the dogs in the story and what we have is a very well-rounded story.
Many thanks to Forever, OrangeSky Audio and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
Set within a picturesque seaside town, this was a really sweet second chance romance. After both experiencing the big city life, unfortunate circumstances have landed Hadley and Cam back in their hometown of Seashell Harbor. Although once lovers, their opposing ideas for the location of Pooch Palace, a dog boarding business, creates a rivalry filled with tension.
With regret and resentment surrounding their breakup from twelve years ago, I really enjoyed the slow burn of this relationship. The conflict between them is minimal and more a rediscovery of what originally made them fall in love. Hadley and Cam were both incredibly kindhearted, making them easy characters to root for. I adored the addition of Post-it notes within the story.
Considering the lighthearted nature of the story, I do think it was longer than necessary. This book felt very much like a setup for future books in the series, with a lot of forthcoming romances hinted at throughout. With that said, I really enjoyed every secondary character (including all the adorable dogs), and I'm looking forward to each of their romances.
Thank you so much to foreverpub. This was a wonderful, light hearted read. I absolutely loved the setting of this small town. And who doesn't love an enemy to lovers ; second chance romance. And dogs, of course the dogs! Pets always make things so much better don't they?
Nice start to a new series. I like the setting and the people, and can see where this will be an enjoyable series ahead. Why then didn't I give it more stars? For some reason Hadley and Tony/Cam didn't really click with me. I loved the dogs and the idea of a dog rescue and restaurant, and the friendships. But ... when the "stars" of this particular story didn't make magic for me, I just can't give it more stars. And their story dragged at times. But all that being said, I did enjoy the town and the different characters in it, and I do look forward to future stories. And I loved the cover!
When celebrity publicist Hayley Wells finds herself the victim of a very public breakup, she flees Hollywood for her cozy hometown, Seashell Harbor. Thinking she will spend the summer spoiled by her grandmother, and quietly recuperating, she receives a rude awakening upon her return. Her grandmother is in the hospital and she’s planning to sell their family business, The Pooch Palace to the boy who broke her heart. After sustaining a career-ending football injury, Tony Cammareri returned home to Seashell Harbor to open a family restaurant. The last thing he expected was to run into his high school girlfriend Hayley. Now with the fate of the Pooch Palace at stake, Hayley and Tony are pitted against each other for the fate of the space: a dog rescue or a restaurant.
I loved this book. It’s such a sweet vacation in a novel! I loved the competition between the two characters and how it blended so many tropes so seamlessly: second chance, small town, and enemies to lovers.
One of my favorite parts of the story is watching Hayley as she starts her dog rescue. Coming Home to Seashell Harbor also has the most adorable fluffy characters. There’s Bowie, a basset hound owned by Hadley’s grandmother Maddy. There’s Jagger, a scruffy doodle mix who pops up at the Pooch Palace one night as a stray and never leaves. And there are many others who come through Hadley’s rescue.
Thank you to Forever and Netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own.
4 Star Review Coming Home To Seashell Harbor by Miranda Liasson
AUDIO REVIEW:
Miranda Liasson is a new author to me as was the narrator Kate Marci. From the first chapter to the last I was drawn in to Hadley Wells and Tony Cammareri’s (Cam) story and their return to Seashell Harbor.
This is a second chance at love story that ticked the boxes for me. It was well written and narrated and you couldn’t help but become invested in the story that Ms. Liasson wove. I have to say one of my favourite characters was Grandma, she was such a fun, feisty, no nonsense woman; I also loved Hadley’s best friends.
Hadley and Cam have history and now they are more frenemies and Cam knows that it will take a lot for Hadley to forgive him and move on, or even if she can. When they both set their sites on her Grandma’s shop Pooch Palace they will find themselves on opposing sides yet again.
Their journey was rocky but it was worth it in the end.

I received this from a Goodreads giveaway. Hadley Wells, reeling from an ugly breakup with her movie star boyfriend, returns home to Seashell Harbor to lick her wounds and help her grandmother who is recovering from a broken hip. Football superstar Tony Cammareri has suffered a career ending injury and is contemplating his future. Having recently returned to Seashell Harbor he dreams of opening a restaurant. The trouble is the best location is the business owned by Hadley's grandmother. Hadley is interested in the business for a nonprofit dog rescue. Her grandmother is ready to retire and sell the business and proposes that Hadley and Tony present their business plans and she will choose who gets the building. Let the competition begin! The problem is that Hadley and Tony have a past, and their relationship didn't end well. Can they find a way to reconcile? A cute, clean, heartfelt romance that spotlights family, friendship, love and second chances. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
Any book that includes dogs is a win in my book! I loved how this included the funny antics of animals while their humans fought, flirted, and worked to trying again.
The story centers around Cam and Hadley, told from each of their POV's, and their second chance at love some 17 years later. Second chance love, enemies to lovers...and animals!! Whew...what an adventure.
The only downside I found about the book was that it started to slow down halfway through and I found myself skimming a bit...but other than that, this was a win!
Are you looking for a new book to read that is totally escapist and will take you away to an idyllic place? This one is the start to a brand new small town romance series, and friends, it was such a delightful introduction!
Hadley heads home after a very public and humiliating breakup with her famous ex to lick her wounds and just relax with friends and family for the summer. But when she arrives things are kind of a mess, her Grandma’s beloved dog boardinghouse is failing and her high school ex that broke her heart is also back in town for awhile. So you have a second chance romance, admittedly this isn’t my most favorite trope, BUT there’s a bit of enemies to lovers here as well as Hadley and Cam are at opposite ends of basically everything for a large part of the book. The first book in a new series can be tricky because the author is trying to pack so much into one book with introducing an entire new town. Sometimes the main love story can get lost in the details but it was smooth here. I felt like I got a nice taste of Seashell Harbor and it’s residents but also got to know Hadley and Cam as well. I’m really excited to see where this series goes, such a solid beginning and Hadley’s best friends, Darla and Kit will be getting their own books next and they both had me intrigued here
Sweet, gentle, small town romance. Hadley Wells returns to her hometown after working in public relations at a high profile California firm. She has also had a very public break-up and needs to come home and regroup. Her high school sweetheart and first love Tony Cammareri is also in town. He went on to football in the NFL and a recent injury has ended his career.
Arriving in town Hadley learns her beloved Grandma has broken her hip. Her grandmother's property is a possibility for an a new restaurant for Tony or a no kill shelter for Hadley. And grandma oddly puts them in competition with each other for the building. Hadley and Tony like and respect each other and aren't opposed to rekindling their relationship.
This book is a non-complicated second chance romance. I enjoyed listening to the audio book and the author did well with the various characters. I could easily different side characters as being potential main characters for future books. Unfortunately I didn't find any of the characters overly memorable (although I liked the animals a lot). The middle part of the book dragged slowly and I felt viewpoints of the MC's got repetitive.
I would recommend this book for as a low angst read. It is clean for language and intimacy is off the page. Thank you to NetGalley and the OrangeSky Audio for a ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Hadley Wells should be happy. Happy that she is returning to her hometown of Seashell Harbor but when she comes back she realizes Grandma is selling her beloved Pooch Palace. She has so many great memories of the good old days when she used to work there and play with the dogs. Now it's just all going to the dogs or so it seems because Grandma is selling to Hadley's first love, ex-footballer Tony Cammareri. She would rather avoid him but it's kind of impossible now that he's running Grandma's business, she feels betrayed that she is siding with the "enemy". I loved the rescue dogs in the story, animals always liven up a story and make it better. As they work together those old feelings come rushing back again in this second chance romance. Fun read!
Pub Date 04 May 2021 I was given a complimentary copy of this book. Thank you. All opinions expressed are my own.
Coming Home to Seashell Harbor was a wonderful book. Hadley comes home for the summer after a scandal. She is hoping to have a relaxing summer hanging out with her grandma and running her. The instant she gets off the plane, her plans are up in the air. Not to mention, her first love, Cam, who broke her heart, also happens to be back in town and she cannot avoid him. Small town romance, second chances, friendship and dogs! I could put this one down. It was just the light, cute, fun read I needed. I look forward to reading future books in the series.
Pub Date: May 4, 2021 Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to Net Galley for giving me this book. Miranda Liasson is a new author to me and I liked this book.
Pros: -So I loved the cover and thought it was perfect for the book, It was like a perfect hug. - The book was really well written and just a fun book
Cons: - I enjoy these type of books, BUT it's nothing special, these type of books are very common.. Small town girl goes to city.. something happens and they return to the sweet little town.. And if it doesn't have something the shocks me or make me go wow.. I can't recommend this book to my friends!
Coming Home to Seashell Harbor is the first book in a new series by Miranda Liasson and I enjoyed it, but I didn’t love it. The hero and heroine were high school sweethearts until he decided to break up with her before she could break up with him, now years later his pro football career was ended early due to an injury and her life is tabloid fodder when she is dumped by her A-lister Hollywood boyfriend for someone else. They both return home at the same time and end up in a competition over the building her grandmother’s pet boarding business is in.
I had a hard time connecting with both of these characters, they were perfectly fine but I honestly felt like we never really got to know them. Tony (Cam) Cammareri came home to get away from the media and try and figure out his next step which he believes is opening a sports bar type establishment in his home town. Hadley Wells has worked saving the reputations of some of Hollywood’s biggest stars but the uproar over her relationship going south sends her packing back to Seashell Harbor where she plans to rest and help her grandmother with her pet boarding business. Both characters just felt a bit flat; Hadley had big dreams as a teenager to save the world, help animals but ended up in a very different career yet she never talked about that change. Cam wanted out of town and knew football was his answer but he has a wonderful family so why was he so anxious to leave? I guess I just felt disconnected from these characters. The other issue was I didn’t feel the heat between them at all, I felt their friendship even at the start when they were in “competition” for Hadley’s grandmother’s building, but no sizzle and this has nothing to do with the behind closed door sex scenes, I read a lot of books like that and sometimes the heat between the characters is so hot that the imagination of what goes on behind those doors is smokin’!
The town, it’s residents, Tony’s family, Hadley’s friends were all interesting and I felt the series was set up well. I actually am looking forward to reading more in this series, but the romance between these two just felt off. I feel bad, I’ve enjoyed Ms. Liasson’s work in the past but this couple didn’t resonate with me even if the rest of the story did.
Coming Home to Seashell Harbor is a great small town romance, and first love book. I love the small town romances, you know everyone has to have their nose in the situation!! 😅
Hadley and Tony (aka Cam) are both at crossroads in their lives. Hadley is a Hollywood Publisist. When a very public breakup reveals that her life is not as perfect as she thought, she returns to her hometown of Seashell Harbor, to figure out what she wants truly wants to do with her life. She figures she will spend time with her grandmother, who owns "Pooch Palace ", a doggy spa/hotel/walking business, and help her with that.
Just as she returns home she discovers her grandmother had fallen breaking a hip and is considering retirement. This shakes Hadley as she grew up helping her grandmother with this business until she went off to college.
Tony, her first love, and first to break her heart, has had a career-ending injury that has forced him into an early retirement causing him to focus on his future. Tony is determined to open a restaurant, using his father’s family recipes, but it’s not as simple as all that; including unwanted franchising opportunities.
Hadleys grandmother comes to the 2 of them and states, the fate of the Pooch Palace is at stake, Hayley and Tony are pitted against each other for the fate of the space: a dog rescue or a restaurant.
As you would expect with a small town everyone has an opinion and certain sides they will take. This is also a time for Hadley and Tony "Cam" to get to know each other as adults.
It was a perfect beach read/summer read! I love all the characters, the reconnection of Hadley and Tony, and the slew of pets/animals that become part of their lives.
I would like to thank Netgalley, Forever Publishing and the author Miranda Liasson for providing me with a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.
Hadley Wells just had a very public breakup with an A-list movie star. Taking paid leave from her PR firm to wait for the embarrassment to blow over, she heads home to spend time with her family the quaint Victorian seaside town, Seashell Harbor. Much to her surprise, her first love, Tony Cammareri, is also back in town after suffering a career-ending knee injury. Hadley's grandmother wants to retire, so both Tony and Hadley are tasked to come up with a business plan to take over the building. Close proximity brings back sparks of old love, but both are gun-shy when it comes to a relationship.
This book is perfect if you enjoy: • Second chance romance • Former pro athlete hero • Small town setting • Closed door romance
While I enjoyed the book, it fell a little flat for me. There were a lot of characters coming in and out, which distracted me from the main storyline. I wish we would have gotten more of Tony and Hadley's past playing out on the pages. It seemed like they fell together too quickly. I can see the beginnings of a good second book with a few of the secondary characters. I also loved all the dogs that made appearances!
Thank you to Forever for my gifted copy. All opinions are my own.
I love a good second chance romance, and this one was written by a great storyteller. After a public breakup, Hadley returns home to Seashell Harbor, the small town where her family lives. Her first love, Cam, has also returned home after a career-ending injury.
As they compete to revitalize her grandmother's building, will the old feelings rekindle? Why does Hadley hate sticky notes? You need to read this heartwarming story to find out! As Grandma runs the Pooch Palace, plenty of cute dog appearances.
Thank you to Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Who doesn’t love a story that involve dogs? You’d never know from the cover so I’m going to let you know here. If you in enjoy a good lighthearted book that reminds you of watching a sweet Hallmark movie this is the book for you. Such a fun story about forgiveness, first loves and self worth.
Another great novel by a talented author! I can't get enough of her small town romances. This one didn't disappoint either. I had a great time in Seashell Harbor.
