Callisto Media/Rockridge Press was kind enough to send my sister a copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review. I wanted to read and review it as well - I read as fast as she does, no surprise. #twister


I have high blood pressure and am trying to DASH my way to health and I love meal prepping as I think that my sister is sick of me showing up for lunch AND dinner and meal prep means I can have lunches and dinners if need be.

The recipes are simple and easy to follow - I am a bad cook and even I can make these healthy meals.

I can see using this book a lot....if you are trying to DASH then this is a great book...and if you are into meal prep, then this is great as well.

I has mixed results with the recipes here. I accidentally made 3 cups of raw quinoa vs 3 cups of raw which turned out to be 9 cups. Rookie mistake, yes! But also it would have been nice if the recipe was clearer. Also, I found that my small fridge was over-stuffed even when I did things right. I just don't have room for this much food. Even so, the recipes also assume you are cooking for 1. Five servings is for 1 person, not 2. So I'd have to double the recipes if cooking for 2. All in all, it just has not turned out to be practical for me. That said, I did lose 5 pounds in 1 week and felt good after eating the food!

Excellent Meal Planning Guide

For me, one of the hardest parts of sticking with a healthy food plan is having the right foods on hand and having something to fall back on when I don't feel like cooking on a particular day. This book helps to cover all the bases. It contains batch cooking meal plans, so I can cook once yet have enough for the next five days, and the recipes are palatable and tasty. The authors even include shopping lists to streamline the whole process.

DASH is a healthy eating plan for people who want to be mindful of their physical well being and want to stop preventable illnesses and health problems before they happen. If some diseases have already taken hold, this eating plan can help reduce the consequences of killers such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and more.

Great recipes

Some healthy options I hadn't found anywhere else. Selection of sides, snacks and main dishes as well as storage ootions.
