Wow!
This is one of the best series I have ever read in my 40+ years of reading. Everything is here, suspense, mystery, fantasy, romance, family, coming of age, surprise, shock and awe. I found myself invested in the lives of the characters, rooting for some, loving some, hating others, definitely a roller coaster of emotions. I cried with them, laughed, celebrated and grieved.
I am anxiously awaiting the continuation of this series.
I am a lover of fantasy/sci-fi. This is a unique take in this genre. The character development is rich, enough detail provided about the physical surroundings that I could picture it in my head without needing to read pages upon pages describing the scenery.

Captive throughout
Book 8 did not disappoint. It delivered some of the secrets of the past that have been brewing in the last few books, while also some ongoing completing story arcs for Oh’dar. The additional characterisation of the Sarnonn brought the story to life and I was engaged in their actions and thought processes. On that note, I didn’t think I could ever not love Adia and Acaharo, but they are truly no longer my only favourite characters! I am invested in Haan and many of the People. This is a sign of a fabulous author, for no story is complete without becoming emotionally invested in your characters.
In conclusion, this is a great continuation of the series and I am looking forward to the finale.

August 23, 2020Wonderful series of books. I really enjoy when an author can create a world that is relatable yet is completely different to my current view point. I got so caught up in the books I read the whole series in a week. Then found myself dreaming of the characters at night. I'm tempted to tell you what the story is about but that would give away the delightful surprise when the author revels the amazing world she has allowed you to enter in through your imagination in the first book. This series goes on my list of best books.

The wall of records is satisfyingly revealed!
Leigh Roberts does it again—book eight is as much revealing as it is perplexing, answering some questions and raising others. The great wall of records is described so well I almost feel like I was right there in the room where it happened! ;) Seriously though, without mentioning spoilers, this story is a must-read and I can’t wait to read the next one and find out what happens next.

Book 8 answers many questions about the People and Haans people the Sarnonn. Also O'Dar tries desperately to win back Acise, and comes to blows with her intended mate, Pajackok. Tahya still has nightmares about Arkar Tor making Khon Tor determined to put an end to him once and for all.

Best series. Small installments, but they are building on each other. Aids is still the central character. The history and future of her people and others is dependent on her choices.

This series keeps you reading. It is fresh and a nice mix of wonder and mystery. The characters are real with flaws and strength. Just enough action and plot twists to keep the reader involved. I'm enjoying it and would definitely recommend it.

If you have read this far in the series, there really nothing new to say. Leigh Roberts is a master story-teller. Her world is complex, intriguing, and inspired, her characters wonderfully complex, with amazing story arcs. I have been getting little sleep since starting the first book because they are so difficult to put down!
I rejoice with her success in bringing this story to life, and cannot wait for the next!
