Random circumstances brought them together. Love made them family.
Kind, funny, successful, and adoring, Jed Marsh is the man of Alissa Mann’s dreams. But Jed’s parents don’t think Alissa, who supplements her kindergarten teacher’s salary as a cocktail waitress at a gentlemen's club, is good enough for their son. And his controlling mother will stop at nothing to keep them from getting married.
When Mrs. Marsh threatens to reveal Alissa’s secret side job to the school administration and the meddling moms who run the PTA, Jed and Alissa reluctantly call off their intimate mountain wedding. But even after the nuptials are canceled, Alissa agrees to meet her sisters and mother at the beautiful Cedar Mountain Lodge. And in the loving arms of her own family, Alissa just might figure out how to move forward -- with or without Jed.
Fans of small-town stories, heartwarming holiday tales, sweet second chances, and whimsical winter weddings will fall in love with Alissa and her soul sisters in CHRISTMAS RINGS, book five of the Soul Sisters at Cedar Mountain Lodge, from USA Today bestselling author Tess Thompson.
Tess Thompson Romance...hometowns and heartstrings.
Tess Thompson is the USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author of contemporary and historical Romantic Women’s Fiction with over 60 published titles. When asked to describe her books, she could never figure out what to say that would perfectly sum them up until she landed on, Hometowns and Heartstrings.
She’s married to her prince, Best Husband Ever, and is the mother of their blended family of four kids and five cats. Best Husband Ever is seventeen months younger, which qualifies Tess as a Cougar, a title she wears proudly. Her Bonus Sons are young adults with pretty hair and big brains like their dad. Daughters, better known as Princess One and Two, are teenagers who make their mama proud because they’re kind. They’re also smart, but a mother shouldn’t brag.
Tess loves lazy afternoons watching football, hanging out on the back patio with Best Husband Ever, reading in bed, binge-watching television series, red wine, strong coffee and walks on crisp autumn days. She laughs a little too loudly, never knows what to make for dinner, looks ridiculous kickboxing in an attempt to combat her muffin top, and always complains about the rain even though she chose to live in Seattle.
She’s proud to have grown up in a small town like the ones in her novels. After graduating from the University of Southern California Drama School, she had hopes of becoming an actress but was called instead to writing fiction. She’s grateful to spend most days in her office matchmaking her characters while her favorite cat Mittens (shhh…don’t tell the others) sleeps on the desk.
She adores hearing from readers, so don’t hesitate to say hello or sign up for her newsletter: http://tesswrites.com/. You’ll receive an ebook copy of her novella, The Santa Trial, for your efforts.
Book 6 and last of the Cedar Mountain Lodge series by multiple authors. Contemporary sweet romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series. Alissa’s story.
Alisa and Jed meet and fall in love. Seemed fast but described as love at first sight. As in any relationship, there are highs and lows. Alissa’s mother: so compassionate, open-minded and smart. Loved her.
If you’ve read the other books, you already know that Alissa and Jed get married after a breakup. Knowing that in advance did not make this book any less emotional and heartwarming. If you didn’t know in advance, don’t think of this as a spoiler because it’s not the ending. It’s just a piece of the full story. I could have done without the faith additions.
Heartwarming and a wonderful wrap-up of this sweet series.
What a great premise and collaboration of these authors to create this Soul Sisters at Cedar Mountain Lodge series. Knowing the work of the authors involved in this collection, it is no doubt a heartwarming, emotional escape with the characters in the stories. Christmas Rings is Tess Thompson's Cedar Mountain Lodge series contribution. Her superb hometown, storytelling talent shines through in this sweet novella. This is Alissa and Jed's story.
Alissa and Jed. Two people from totally different walks of life. Two people who have a chemistry and attraction despite those differences. Alissa is a kindergarten teacher by day. She loves what she does and she has a heart for the children but she needs to supplement her income so she moonlights at a gentlemen's club as a cocktail waitress. Enter Jed Marsh.
Jed is the son of Marsh Vodka magnate owners and the business is soon to be passed down to him. His parents are controlling and no woman has ever been "good enough" for their son. How in the world will Alissa ever be accepted? His heart is totally devoted to Alissa but at what cost?
I love Tess Thompson's characters. They are so easily to connect with and to become a part of the story. Every single character is filled with emotions and stories that pull at my mine. The emotions are there from the amazing way Tess Thompson creates word stories in her books. Stories that draw you in and make you feel a part of them. She puts the reader into the lives of her characters in such a deep and involved way that you can't help but become a part of them.
Ms. Thompson pulls her readers in and makes them feel the emotions throughout her books. Christmas Rings is a tender love story that made me yearn for the HEA for Alissa and Jed. The supporting cast of characters are perfectly entwined around Alissa and Jed's story. This is such a sweet novella and I enjoyed every page from the front cover to the back. I especially appreciated her dedication to sisters. We have bonds through family and bonds through people who are our chosen families. Love can overcome.
I want to thank Ms. Thompson for the honor and privilege of reading another one of her amazing books. It is a great read and touched my heart. Thank you! All opinions and thoughts in this review are my heartfelt own.
Book six is Alissa's story and we find out why her wedding - that was the reason all of the sisters were together at the lodge - was cancelled. From the first time Allissa and Jed meet they feel that they are soul mates and destined to be together but his family caused trouble and the wedding was cancelled. Instead of family celebration at the lodge, the entire family is joined together to try to cheer Alissa's broken heart.
Alissa was a kindergarten teacher and loved her job. Unfortunately, she had college loans to repay so she took a job as a waitress at a men's club. She met Jed at the club at a business dinner and it was pretty much love at first sight for both of them. The closer they get to each other, the more his controlling mother tries to break them up. Their fight for their love is inspiring and they are a perfect couple until his mother wins and the wedding is cancelled and Alissa turns to her family for comfort. Will Alissa and Jed be able to overcome the negativity of his family?
This is the last book in the Soul Sisters at Cedar Mountain Lodge series . It was very well written and each book told the story of a different sister. It was all done very cohesively even though it was written by five different authors. I am going to miss this family but I enjoyed each characters journey to their happily ever after ending.
Christmas Rings may be my favorite book in this new series! It was beyond amazing! I've read it in one sitting but it kept me on the edge of my seat whole time. This was Alissa and Jed's story and what a delightful sweet love story with some dramatic turns that makes you forget to breathe! Very inspirational and wise! Especially those moments that let us see the most amazing relationship between Alissa and her mother. Family that may not be bond by blood but Love makes it even stronger nonetheless. I highly recommend this beautifully written story. You can read it as a standalone but you'll miss the beauty of this whole multilayered fantastic picture out. Well, you don't want it, right? Read all of these books to fall in love with all those awesome people and the picturesque small hometown set for Christmas.
Finally, the rest of the story behind Alissa and Jed’s Christmas wedding that almost wasn’t, proof that if one heart needs another, nothing and no one can stop them from being together. Heartwarming, emotional and sooooo revealing, this tale of love and marriage is one that is made even more magical by how Alissa became part of her special family and the love and support they all shared.
CHRISTMAS RINGS by Tess Thompson is the delicate bow on the top of this special holiday series about love, family and sharing and caring! Even Alissa’s “dirty little secret” wasn’t so bad when it came into the light! Oh, and money can’t buy a heart that is true. Beautiful, heartfelt reading that will melt a romantic’s heart!
I received a complimentary ARC edition from Tess Thompson and Ev Bishop! This is my honest and voluntary review.

Christmas Rings.. To be totally honest this is my favorite book in this set of books.
Alissa story, Alyssa A school teacher by and a cocktail A waitress by nightfall. But sometimes you have to make the ends meet somehow.. Just keeping a secret you don't want your family to know because you feel utterly embarrassed.. Just paying the bills that's what counts..
And one night you meet a gentleman named Jed, Your car is broken down and he offers you a ride home because that's the kind of guy he is.. Ends up doing a lot more for you without you ever having to ask what a perfect gentleman...
Jed's parents are not quite as nice as nice as Alyssa's family. Seem to want to run his life tell him who we can and cannot date. Finally Jed has had enough does what he needs to do for his life to make him happy.
This was a great short story. Definitely can be read as a stand alone. I Truly Enjoy This Story. Thank you Tess Thompson.
This is a wonderful series with each book written by a different author, and they saved the best for last ! Each book in this series focus on one of the sisters. Four girls that were fostered and then all adopted. This is Alissa and Jed’s story. Alissa is a kindergarten teacher by day and on the weekends she has a secret job that no one can know about. Jed is the rich kid being manipulated by his parents to do what they want. These two had chemistry right from the beginning and are true soulmates and this is such a sweet story. Written in true Tess Thompson soulmate style, this was a wonderful read!
Christmas Rings is a heartwarming, inspirational romance. I am sad that this is the last story in this remarkable series. Ms. Thompson's characters, as always, drew me into the story and would not let go. It is nice to finally understand why Jed called off the wedding. (His mother is truly a piece of work!) Even if you have not read the other books in the series, you can still read this wonderful story of the love that unites these Soul Sisters. All the authors did a tremendous job of coordinating their characters and creating unforgettable romances that happened in this world. You do not want to miss any of these stories!
As with everything Tests Thompson writes, I loved this book. Of course I'm reading out of order and started with the last book in the series. This was Alissa's story. Off to read the others.
Christmas Rings was a delightful book to read, I read it in an early morning sitting. What a very nice story, perfect to read. Tess Thompson has a very nice way of writing this story about Alissa. This is the 6th book in the series of Soul Sisters at Cedar Mountain Lodge. The story picks up a bit of what was written in the book "Christmas Sisters" so that you could read this book also as a stand alone book. It gives you a bit of history so that you can easily follow this very nice story. The story is about Alissa a kindergarten teacher who loves her work and the children. She is hard working and wants to help those she cares about, even if it could put her secrets out in the open. This story also has some very nice characters that are so easy to love, you nearly feel like one of the sisters. During one of her evenings working she meets Jed and they get to know each other and for some reason Alissa want to know him a lot more. With some mishaps and events as the story unravels both Alissa and Jed are put to the test. Alissa is doing the best she can to help her longtime friend Sophie, someone she never leaves behind. There is a dramatical event that may turn everything upside down in Alissa's life. How her life values come to be question, how she finds the way to go for what she believes. A question of love and forgiveness and also being there for the man she loves no matter the difficulties and know you are good enough. Jed can grow thanks to the love from Alissa, feel loved unconditionally something he never felt growing up. Also this story also shows the importance of a loving family. This book got my attention very fast and it was very hard to put down, I just wanted to know what was going to happen! I was a bit sad that the book ended too soon, I would have gladly read more pages! Thanks to the author and publisher for letting me read this very nice and cozy book! I can really recommend this read! Charlotte N
I received an ARC from the author for an honest review. Alissa was a kindergarten teacher and she was supplementing her income as a cocktail waitress at a gentlemen's club. She was going to get done that job because her student debt had finally been paid when her best friend since childhood was in a serious accident and wouldn't be able to work so she continued to work there to help out her friend. It was there that she met Jed. Jed's mother found out she was working at the gentlemen's club and threatened to reveal her secret. It was heartbreaking when Jed and Alissa talked and Jed thought he had ruined her life. They decided to split up so Allisa went up to Cedar Mountain Lodge to be with her family. Maddie went to talk to her and they had a long talk and Maddie has such a way of helping her daughters see things clearer. Tess did an amazing job of writing the final book. She took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. This series was written by five different authors and each one did an amazing job of telling their story, they each blended together so beautifully. Thank you to each of you for the book you wrote to make this series unforgettable. If you have been struggling in 2020 with everything that has been going on, this series is a reminder that there is still good things happening but they get lost in the chaos. We need more Maddie's and from the very first book, she not only helped her daughters become soul sisters, but she also helped many feel a lot better after reading the books. Each book blends together but each one is so unique. I loved the series and am sad to see it come to an end but the series is one I will keep and reread over and over again because it will remind me that as rough as 2020 has been, this was a light that worked through the chaos, the negativity, and helped me not only find the good in 2020 but to help someone else feel better too. Sometimes we need reminders and this is such an inspirational series.
Tess Thompson is one of my favorite authors and I love everything she writes. When this series came about and she was going to be the last book of the series I just hoped I would like the first five books as much as I knew I would like book number six that would be her book. I absolutely loved every single book!! I am amazed at how well six different authors created a series that was so perfect. This series made you laugh, made you cry, and made you feel like you really knew these characters. You really rooted them on and wanted the very best for them. Book six was the perfect way to wrap up the story. We were not only shown how people all have their own issues but how the right person can help you work through them. When you find true love, nobody can stand in your way and no matter what, love will win. I highly suggest this series to anyone who wants to read a great story about how family is about who you choose and how strong bonds are between that family. We all can love anyone we choose and fight for them no matter what. We don’t have to be related by blood to be a strong family. I have gone on to read more books by the other authors since this series and am happy to report, they all write pretty good stories as well.
First I must say, I’m saddened to have finished the Soul Sisters at Cedar Mountain Lodge series. Delightful stories for beautiful souls. Christmas Hope (book 4) had me in a fit of laughter with Claire; however I think Alissa’s employment secret and all that it entails out does it all! Not saying it’s bad, just a surprise as I never read the summary to give me a heads up. Luckily my college roommate worked in the same business, so I understood. There’s a scene in this story that I envisioned with such clarity that it had me chuckling out loud. While employed on a cruise ship, I had the pleasure of experiencing scrumptious and mostly indelible food creations offered at the midnight buffet. Let’s just say, not everything is as good as it looks! Tess Thompson gave us not only a beautiful story of love, but also a wonderful close to an enriching Soul Sisters series. I shed many, mostly happy, tears throughout Alissa’s journey. Christmas Rings is the type of story that makes me relish reading light romance, especially when they’re set amongst the holidays. I enjoyed Christmas Rings, Soul Sisters at Cedar Mountain Lodge, Book 6 by Tess Thompson and highly recommend it.
This is the last book in the Cedar Mountain Lodge series. Each book written by a different author. I have only read the first book and this last one in the series and need to go back and read the others. Each book is about one of the sisters. In the first book, we learned that Maddie, a school counselor, fostered 4 girls, not related but all had lost parents in tragic ways. Maddie adopts each of the girls and they become a tight-knit family. This story is about Alissa, the second to youngest girl, and her whirlwind courtship of Jed. The story takes place 15 years after she was adopted by Maddie. It is a sweet Christmas story. I worried I might be lost reading the last book and skipping over the other sister's stories, but It wasn't a problem at all. In fact, I was a little bored with the first part of the book because it was almost word for word from Alissa's part in the first book. This story is very fast-paced, and a lot is packed into a very short time so I didn't see the depth of characters I usually see with Tess Thompson stories, it was a fun fast read but I would love a full-length book about the story! If you are looking for some quick read Christmas stories, this series is for you. You can't help but fall in love with each of the girls and Maddie, the wonderful lady who adopted 4 girls who needed a family just in time for Christmas. Thanks to the publisher and author for an advance copy. All opinions about the book are my own.
This is a lovely Christmas novella. It is the last book of a series written by five authors, but honestly can be read alone as the author, Tess Thompson, did a fantastic job of catching the reader up. I have to say, though, that you would miss out on so much Christmas happiness if you don’t read all of these short books.
This is the story of Alisha and Jed. It’s a story of finding your soulmate and one true love, and how…. and I quote Alisha ….. “Second chances and miracles were all around if one had a brave heart and open eyes.” I truly loved this sweet story. I read it in one afternoon, and I highly recommend it. I hope you read the whole series by this group of talented authors, you won’t regret it!
Another sweet book from Tess Thompson, who crafts beautiful stories with great characters. This book is part of a series, all written by different authors, following the stories of 4 young girls who were adopted by a big-hearted widow one Christmas. Tess’s book is about Alissa, one of the younger girls - now all grown up & teaching kindergarten by day...and supplementing her income as a cocktail waitress in a “gentleman’s club” on weekends.....where she meets her love interest, Jed Marsh, heir to his families Marsh Distillery. Jed is a great guy & a perfect match for Alissa, but his horrible parents do not share his feelings for his fiancé...and will stop at nothing to destroy them. How they find their happily ever after makes for a good read!
This is the final book in a delightful series of books written by five authors.
The book was a wonderful and quick read. I loved that the characters had an instant rapport. Jed, the male lead is an example of how men should treat women regardless of the situation. Alissa, the female lead is an example of someone who has a kind heart and a super work ethic.
So take one kindergarten teacher supplementing her income working as a cocktail waitress to pay off student debt and help a friend, and one very rich guy who fall in love and decide to get married. Add his parents, who don't find the teacher nearly good enough for their son and you get conflict and heartbreak.
The real story is how they are willing to work through their issues for that HEA.
The last in the Soul Sister’s Christmas series. This is Alissa’s story. The sisters were gathering for her wedding; which is suddenly called off. The truth comes out about the on, off, then on again of Alissa and Jed. A chance meeting at Alissa’s second job causes Jed to seek Alissa out. When Jed’s mother’s behind the scenes sneaky attitude and efforts threaten their future, the young couple’s happiness is threatened. Can they overcome the threat? Will they be able to build a life together.
The ending to a wonderful series, with sisters thrown together by chance, their hearts are intertwined forever. Their love and support for each other is truly heartfelt.
Thank you to the author for an ARC of this special ending to the series
If you're looking for a book that touches your soul and takes you away from your problems for a few hours, this is one that fits the bill. A tender-hearted school teacher, with a bit of a secret, meets a gorgeous, rich, kind man and both are swept up in a steamy romance until his mother finally finds out her secret and threatens to destroy their happiness. Actually the chapter where Alissa met Jed's parents gave me flashbacks to Phoebe meeting Mike's parents in "Friends" so I now "see" Alissa and Jed as Phoebe and Mike! A beautiful read that just is so needed in this awful year to remind us there are beautiful things out there, we just need to: "Savor every moment. Every sweet second. Make memories."
This was a great final book in this series. Each book focuses on one the main characters in the series during the same time period. The books can be read independently, but I think the entire series should be read. It is wonderful to see the same events through different character's eyes.
In this book, the reader finds out much more detail in why the wedding was called off. It ties of loose ends that were hanging, and ends perfectly.
I think it is amazing that each book was written by a different author, yet the entire series has the same feel to it and one books flows to the next so easily. Since finishing this series, about a week ago, it is difficult to begin a new book. I truly loved these characters and it is hard to say goodbye to them.
I have to admit that I am a little sad to be reading the last book in this Series but I loved Alissa’s story. It was not at all what I expected but seeing the hurdles she overcame was truly inspiring. The history of her relationship and how it has its difficulties made the journey exciting. As the previous books, this one seamlessly transitions and weaves the characters from the other books into it. Hard to pick favorite characters but Alissa is definitely one of mine. I am sure that you will love her just as much. The first book in the Series is a free prequel and you are going to want to get Christmas Rings, the 6th book in the Series and of course all of the other books as well.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for fair and honest review.
Where do I begin? This has been such a good series. In this final book in the series, we find out the real reason Alissa’s wedding was called off, and how the wedding happened after all. We get to know Alissa and Jed better, as they are portrayed as likable and real. The author also does a fabulous job of describing the resort, and it is definitely somewhere I’d like to visit. I think the best part of the book for me is the continuing family story, and the feeling of these people being my friends. I’m sad this series is ended, and I hope the authors can be convinced to write more books about these ladies and their lives.
So if you've been reading these stories from the beginning - all you've known so far is that Alissa and Jed canceled their wedding, we are blaming Jed for it, and we know his parents don't approve of Alissa.
What we didn't know was the cause. So this gives us the back story and I have to say that I would have never guessed it.
All of these stories are sweet, clean romances. This one is a fade to black with the few romantic scenes.
This has been an entertaining series and the love throughout between the soul sisters and Maddie. will warm your heart, for sure.
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
This is the culmination of books 2 through 6 and explains why Jed broke up with Alissa in the first place. This story ends with some scenes concurrent with the previous books, but most of it happens the year before. I liked seeing all of this happen just the way it did. The authors did a super job of tying it all together.
The pace is engrossing and the tone is hopeful with a character centered storyline that has some kisses and suggestions, but no steam details. The characters are vivid and endearing. You really must read these stories in order. It makes the mist sense that way. Enjoy!
All is not what it seems in the Jed & Alissa romance. The previous stories in this series started with the cancellation of their wedding, and here we get the full story of how they met, how they quickly fell in love, and ultimately what drove them to break up. Young love is not without its complications, and Jed's parents prove to be a formidable obstacle.
I really enjoyed these characters, and it was so sweet to watch them fall in love. I loved how Maddie helped Alissa work through the assorted issues to get to the heart of the problem. The most heartwarming part was how the entire family accepted the last-minute turn of events and ultimately gave Jed everything he'd been missing. Love truly does win over hate, never more beautifully portrayed than in this delightful novella.
As the finale of the series, we get to enjoy a HEA that encompasses everyone's happiness, and that alone makes this book a rare treat. It's the perfect book to cap off a stellar series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
The final book in the Soul sisters series by a several authors brings all the family together again. A sweet story of young love, family, facing challenges of merging families and the realization of what a really important in life. The cover gives a good description so I'll not detail characters. This book was provided as an Advanced Reader copy and I was under no obligation to provide a review. The opinions expressed are my own. Many thanks to the author and publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
Alissa Mann Kirby has a secret that she keeps close to her heart, but hidden from those that she lives the most. Her second job, she knows would bring shame to her mother and sisters.
One night, she meets Jed Marsh while on the job and everything seems to be looking up. So much so that when Jed proposes, she doesn't hesitate to say yes.
But, his mother doesn't approve of Alissa, and threatens s to reveal Alissa's secret...to save her from losing everything , Jed calls off the wedding. But, to Alissa Jed is everything....
What a magical story! Book 6 is Alissa’s story as she struggles to make ends meet with her teaching day job and her cocktail waitress night job. As luck would have it, it is on that night job that she meets Jed, a true gentleman. However, she doesn’t come up to his mother’s standards and the wedding is canceled. Will this work itself out in the end? A wonderful story of love, forgiveness and family. A must read! I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
Christmas Rings is the sixth book in this series, Soul Sisters at Cedar Mountain Lodge. They are all wonderful and hopeful short stories centered around this family of a mother and her four adopted foster girls. Book 6 is all about Alissa and Jed who are about to be married on Christmas Eve and all the family is about to be gathered for the big event. It’s a sweet finale to the series that can also be read alone but you’ll want to know more about each of the sisters found in the other books.
