The Children of Tomorrow

The Race is on… Meredith Gale has to make contact with the Architect before the Adversary’s agent, the transformed Abernathy, reaches her and ruins the millennia of planning designed to save the Earth. In order to accomplish this, she and her ragtag band of friends have to unify the scattered survivors of the multiverse to oppose the Adversary. Along the way, new allies will be made while new opponents do their best to stop her. An Excellent Series

Committed to minimal reviews, I offer this:
A trilogy with an actual ending is very special.
The characters were quite well develped, with no duplicates, no questions as to their personalities.
Even though a different writer completed this series, there was no real difference in writing styles, which I found impressive.
My one issue is that the first two books were nearly perfect in proofreading and editing. Hardly a misspelled word, an improper word or grammatical usage.
But ... this third book had way too many; I guess it made up for the perfection of the first two. Why is this an issue? Because it stops the smooth flow while reading, and interrupts the "movie of the mind" I experience with a series so very good, that I see it in my 'theater of the mind' while reading.
This science is a concept diffrent from my limited experience, and I applaud the efforts to make this series so excellent.
Minimal, shminimal ... great books. Read them and enjoy yourselves.
[Note: using a virtual keyboard is my downfall. Flame by mingers for typos.]

A bittersweet review to write.
I loved the other 2 books in the series (and the other 3 that kinda live on this multiverse) but unfortunately, the author passed away before completing this story. Another author jumped in and completed the book, and did an amazing work at that.

The storyline towards the end falls a bit flat for my taste, but still manages to be a fast paced, entertaining, fun ride!

I had to write a review even though I just couldn’t finish. The first 2 books were fun and I enjoyed reading them so I decided to give this one a try. Sadly, the author passed away before he could finish it and this author took it on. It is terribly edited with many errors making it difficult to read. I also found it to be slow and boring. I just couldn’t get into it. Things just didn’t seem to move along. I gave it a good try and got more than half way through before I just had to quit.

Exciting, dramatic, enjoyable sci-fi

Robert Greenberger manages to continue to write in the brilliance of Paul Antony Jones, after his untimely passing. This final book was written as though Paul had written it all himself.

If you crave interesting, exciting & most definitely gripping sci-fi, this is, as with all the series that Paul has written in the past, a brilliant read but also sad as there will be no more.

One of the characters in this series, Emily, is from the Extinction Point series.
Her story of how she battled an alien entity is an extremely good read & all 5 books are brilliant from beginning to end.

Missed.

First I would like to say how much I will miss Pauls writing. His Orbs series is the first I read & loved every word. All that followed was much anticipated. This is a good tribute to his work. Not as I think he would have told it but close.

Final chapter of the trilogy

Well done Robert Greenberger for bringing Paul Anthony Jone’s trilogy to an end. Not an easy task.
I would love to read Paul’s final book in the trilogy and the next one would have written, perhaps in an alternate universe I am

Great series. Likeable characters and an easy read. I read the first two books in record time. Felt like the last book, lost its way a bit. I would have liked a but more history and development of some of the side characters but an enjoyable series non the less.

Although the replacement author did a satisfactory job of wrapping things up, he didn't have the same imaginative flair as the late Mr. Jones. I applaud the effort of those involved in bringing closure. It would have tainted the original work to have left the series undone.

Although I was glad to have a resolution to the series, there are many small inconsistencies that add up to become very annoying, and some of the timelines (for development of the various communities) are frankly laughable. The writing is awkward and needed more editing. Disappointing.

Life is too short to spend it reading bad books…
This feels like it’s building up like the ending to game of thrones. You know when you started noticing things that didn’t fit or suddenly seemed rushed or contrived but you kept watching the series but with a sense of dread about your hope of the series in your stomach? Yeah thats where I’m at.

I loved the first book…. The second book kinda stalled but was perfectly acceptable. This one… it’s not. It’s obviously (and factually) a totally different writer, but on top of that the proof reading and punctuation is terrible too, it breaks the immersion.

I’m only TWO chapters in and i think I’m done, during the “recap” some of the backstory is wrong or doesn’t line up with what i just read in the first two books, character names or their roles mixed up. An event that should have been prefaced with “almost” happened was stated as if it had happened (and it would have changed the story). It’s like the people writing and proofing it didn’t even bother to read the first two works or didn’t care about the story.

While i understand the need to drive to “conclude” the series, and the sad circumstances around why a replacement author was brought in, this just feels like a money grab or perfunctory project for all involved.

I honestly think i would have preferred i had not picked up the third book and was left with the wonder of what could have been, vs where i feel like this is going. Heed my warning and the warning of those before you traveler, life is too short…

I signed up/in to goodreads just to write this review. I love to read, and I love sci-fi/fantasy. I’ve consumed a lot from amazing, good, passable, and should i even continue. This last book in the series is firmly in the last camp.

Though not quite at the level of the previous books, a satisfying conclusion to an entertaining series. This may be in part due to the death of the author. Children of Tomorrow was written by a colleague following Jones' passing. The spirit of the story is consistent with the first 2 installments, as were the characters that I came to love. It was the ultimate (and inevitable) "good vs. evil" battle that left me a little unfulfilled. The battle was really waged out of sight of the characters and the reader so it felt a little anti-climactic. However, the entities involved in the final fight for supremacy were cleverly devised and made sense in the grand scheme of the story. The ending also felt somewhat rushed. That took away from my satisfaction for reaching the end of a great trilogy, but I was still very pleased overall.

At last, pure science fiction!

Lots of books in science fiction that I have come across in the past few years have not pushed the boundaries of scientific imagination, nor incorporated suspected possibilities of alternate universes into meaningful story lines. This story was deeply satisfying for me and begs further investigation, though as the original author has passed, that may not happen. Even so, I put down nearly everything I could to blaze through this fascinating tale at light speed!

The ending of the series covers things well enough, though I have to say that I didn't like this book as much as the other ones in the series. I realize most tales must end, and that's fine, I don't even have an issue with how this one ended, I personally felt though like the whole thing just kind of poofed at the end.

A worthy successor

From one reader be assured you filled the shoes quite admirable. I for one would not mind at some future date check in on the progress of human civilization on third second chance. Then there is the stories from man,s expansion to the stars.

Good and Bad.

It is always good, even great when you find such a series as this. But so sad when you realize that the author will write no more. I am saddened that such a good writer is gone. Glad that he was here. Thank you and good bye.

Rushed ending, jammed in and felt like they'd decided to finish it quickly.
Left so many unanswered questions and nearly everything felt convenient.
Some of the concepts felt poorly researched, IE nanobots and was to stop them.
Definitely not as engaging as the first 2 in the series

This was an awesome conclusion to this series, it is sad that the author lost his personal battle, but someone else took up the pen and completed the story. I loved that they finally found out who the Advasary was and triumphed over him.

Very good series. This is one that I actually wish had been super long books/more books, though. So much stuff could have been expanded upon - all 3 books felt kind of rushed.

It's so sad that this author died from cancer before finishing this series. The writer chosen to finish the last book, left a lot to be desired.

I really loved the first book. The second was good and the third sort of fizzled out.
