This book was really awful. At first I thought it had potential, but then things started to make less and less sense.

Things that stood out to me:

- Cade called his crazy ex Eric, and Quinn called him by his last name, Strada. So reading a part from Cade’s POV where Eric is constantly referred to as Strada was strange.
- Cade had been raped for quite some time by his ex. I figured he needed some time to adjust once he enters another sexual relationship. But nope, they simply have sex, which is described with a few short sentences. So no hope for an emotional moment where Quinn had to be patient with a scared Cade I guess.
- The relationship itself was just weird. Actually ALL the interactions in this book were weird. There was just something off with the dialogue. But the relationship didn’t seem to have any momentum as well. There was no character or relationship development during the story so it seemed like Cade and Quinn still didn’t really know anything about one another when they were suddenly starting a relationship.
- Not only did we have a violent crazy stalker ex, we suddenly need a new stalker at 80% who secretly lived in Cade’s attic. Yes, you read that right. Cade has a stalker who lives in his attic without Cade knowing because Cade has never been to the attic in his own home before.
- No one is supposed to know Eric was Cade’s daddy, but somehow everyone seems to know and no one acts surprised when stuff like that is mentioned by them (plothole much).
- House cats are not super happy when they’re brought to a new place. They are scared at first and need to slowly explore before they are comfortable again. So Mogs immediately feeling at home at Cade’s… No, that would never happen like that.
- The daddy kink was mentioned a lot, but besides Quinn acting all dominant (like a bodyguard would), there wasn’t a lot of actual daddy kink in this. So why on earth the author decided to add age play at 92% I wasn’t sure. I love age play books, but I do think it’s weird that Quinn suddenly decided Cade was a little and made a playroom for him without even talking to him about it.

This book was quite a mess and I don't think I will read anything else by this author.

Nice, very good character design. The story itself isn't insanely original, the plot isn't surprising, it's the usual rock-star-stalker-daddy-bodyguard thing.
Quinn is the perfect Daddy. He is very decisive without overdoing it. For a boy who has been mistreated and needs a Daddy, but has never learned what really defines a real Daddy, there is a lot of subtlety involved. And I love that about this book, because it's really portrayed outstandingly well. And it's very nice how Cade is attracted to him but tries to fight it.

He wanted to be protected from the world. He wanted Quinn to hold him until he fell asleep, then shelter him for the rest of the night. Quinn ran his hand down Cade’s back, tracing soothing circles.
“No one’s ever held me just to comfort me,” Cade said.
🤧🤧🤧

The age-play towards the end is not necessary, the relationship works without that. I think that was a stupid thing to add.
I miss the trigger mention!: rape and beatings, it’s off-page, but it should be mentioned. Crap, the more I think about the fact that this wasn't mentioned anywhere, the less stars I want to give. 😡

This was my first time reading a book by Sue Brown. I enjoyed her writing style that allowed me easily get into the story. The idea of Biker Daddy Bodyguards was such an intriguing one that I couldn't help but want to read the book about them. I really liked Quinn the Daddy bodyguard. He was just goodness personified. I loved his care and protectiveness for Cade, his rapport with his fellow Daddy Bodyguards.

Cade was a bit hard to warm up to. While he did display vulnerability and hurt feelings that made me want to hug him, most of the time his behavior bordered on silly. He at times cut off his nose to spite his face. I dislike the situations where the protectees deliberately put themselves in danger. I had a hard time liking him. I really liked the twist in the end though, it made the ordinary situation with Cade's stalker more intriguing. I didn't see that one coming.

This was an instalove story. The book's events unfolded within 4 days, and during that time two men fell madly in love. Cade's behavior and such short period of time didn't make their feelings believable for me. I wanted them to have more time to just be together and explore each other. I didn't get that here. This was mildly suspenseful, low steam, hurt/comfort story. I wish I enjoyed it more. Copy received for my honest and unbiased review.

The premise of biker daddy bodyguards was intriguing but unfortunately, the execution didn’t match the energy.

Cade is definitely the brat he’s made out to be and Quinn has daddy energy but I couldn’t feel the chemistry between them. I think the author tried to fix that by creating some back and forth in the style of “I want him but I cant’t have him” but they just didn’t work for me. Separately, Maybe it’s just me but I didn’t pick up on any clues even though Quinn said he’d been seeing the signs.

The sex scenes were also very low effort😮‍💨 There was so much telling instead of showing — and don’t get me started on the fade-to-black even though they’d recount things in detail the next day.

🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

Moving on to Eric, there was ZERO closure on that front. None. I wouldn’t care ordinarily but Quinn made such a big deal about offing him I thought he was going to at least beat him up. No. In the end we’re told (via a throwaway line) that Eric is on the run and the authorities have him on their radar.

No. No. NO.

That’s not good enough.

We wanted to see that piece of shit pay!!

Speaking of pieces, it would’ve been nice to get SOME world building. I’ve never read this author before so imagine my surprise when I found out there’s some sort of shared world. No wonder I didn’t know what CDR stood for or understand half the banter between Quinn and his work buddies. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, why didn’t the author drop some crumbs for new readers?? When did weaving in elements from connected series fall out of fashion?!!

anyway

It’s done and I’m done.

Expect
- Daddy kink
- Brat MC
- Age gap
- Size difference
- Fake relationship
- Light impact play
- Famous MC x bodyguard
- Forced proximity
- Past sexual abuse (off page)

Not good, not terrible. (Also not a 3.6; barely 3.0)

I think this story tried to do too much at once, and wasn't long enough to give everything the detail/attention it needed. Relationship developed too quickly, and considering this was billed as a Daddy/Boy tale, there was precious little of that dynamic.

Not sure if the next one is going on the TBR...although a younger "Daddy" might make for an interesting take on the age-gap trope.

Quinn was my perfect Daddy, dominant, punctual, with clear rules and extremely caring. Cade was the boy I prefer, a brat, stubborn, lost, vulnerable.

Cade at twenty-five, is quite a famous musician who has a stalker and needs a bodyguard but absolutely doesn’t want one. When the thirty-nine-year-old bodyguard Quinn hears the guy arguing he sees right through him, he needs a Daddy. After been badly hurt by his former Daddy Cade will never trust one again. Only everything screams Daddy with Quinn.

Yes, this kind of Daddy/boy story is absolutely my favorite. I loved everything about Quinn and Cade.
The story had a nice build-up. The stalking part was quite well done. What I loved about this narrative was the bubble with just Daddy and big brat Cade. For me a perfect Daddy/boy story with emotions, leather, bikes tattoos and an dedicated team.
Their characters were consistent and convincing. I adored both men and couldn’t get enough of them. This was an awesomely written story, very entertaining and enjoyable.

Popstar Cade has a stalker – his ex-boyfriend/Daddy who won’t accept that they are over. His management team needing to protect their investment hire Quinn to be his personal bodyguard. The protection part is easy, but in order to make it clear to the ex that Cade is off the market, Quinn also takes on the roles of boyfriend and Daddy.

The story flowed well. I went through this book in no time loving how the waters became muddy and the pretending to be Daddy and boy for the sake of the ex turned into the real deal.

I’ll try to pretend I stopped reading at around 96%. Unfortunately I did read the rest and that cost a start because “Surprise”! – And not in a good way. I have no idea where that came from and more importantly ‘why’?
Will most definitely still read the next one, though.

I love the way Sue Brown writes. My low rating of this book has nothing to do with the way it’s written or the story. I’m just not into the whole Daddy/boy kink. Especially the littles. The whole idea is a true turn off for me. If you like this kink I would highly recommend this is as a 5 star book.

Bodyguard, rock star, yummy Daddy, hurt boy, fake boyfriends and age gap - what a perfect shopping list of tropey goodness.
I loved Quinn and Cade. Quinn was a total badass and exactly what I look for in Daddy MCs. He's growly, protective and will do anything for his boy. Cade meanwhile is sweet, in so much pain after being betrayed by his evil ex and in desperate need for a good Daddy.
I would have liked to see a bit more development of when Quinn & Cade moved from being bodyguard and client to being boyfriends and Daddy & boy. It felt a little rushed.
I didn't feel them adding a ABDL element to their relationship in the epilogue was really necessary.
Overall this was an enjoyable read and I will definitely read the next in the series. Looking forward to seeing more of the side characters.

OMG, I loved this!! I like Daddy/Boy situations but I don't like Daddy/Little. This was a fun and sexy read, Quinn was drool-worthy, so strong and confident when needed and then tender and caring for Cade when he was overwhelmed, oh to have a man like that! Cade was a brat, always annoyed, defiant, and grumpy, but I still loved him, a cute victim of others who wanted to control him. The abusive ex, the stalker, and the extremely avid fan all made a good story but it broke my heart for Cade, so angry at times but now and then his vulnerability broke through and he was a sweet scared boy. BUT, although the ending was an HEA, one thing developed on the very last pages that disappointed me soooo much, didn't like it, ah well, can't please them all I guess. This is my third with this author, really enjoyed her style, I look forward to the next in this series.

Well, I’ll start by saying that I really enjoy this author’s books and that I felt this book was very well written. Daddy kink is one of my favorite tropes and I felt like this was a good beginning to the series. I did not, however, really like Cade and it made it hard for me to finish the book. I will clarify that I do not generally like “brats” and this is probably why I didn’t identify with Cade as much as I could. Others might like this aspect of the character better and really enjoy it. The rest of the characters, Quinn especially, were great and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. 3.5 stars

I was good with the insta love and the brattiness and the quick time frame. I loved the characters and the story and I had so much fun with the MCs. Loved Quinn and Cade and the craziness of this story. The writing was great and I was having a blast....until the end. The introduction of age play (and let me clearly state I have zero issue with this type of relationship) was abrupt, unexpected, and did not feel organic. It threw me for a loop and pulled me out of the story. If that was something they were going to discover, I'd rather have watched it unfold over time rather than feel like it was sprung on both me and Cade. Overall a very good story, but that took it down a notch.

DNF at 80%. Eighty effing percent! At that point came a pivotal scene that was so slapdash and cheesy I couldn't invest another minute. I hardly ever review a book I don't finish (and I do that a Lot) but...
I've enjoyed several of Brown's books and I was enjoying this one even though it's kind of by-the-numbers. Do give it a chance though if you like Brown, the bodyguard trope, and daddy/boy stories. YMMV

I liked this story enough to continue reading the series (when it's available) but unfortunately I didn't love it. I really wish the author had written this with a slow burn instead of the insta lust/love that it is. Also, I'm not a fan of daddy/little kink so I'm a bit disappointed the author eventually went there with Quinn and Cade. There isn't anything wrong with it, its just not my thing.

If you like super bratty MCs there is one here. Cade is more than a little annoying but he made me laugh and Quinn... *swoon* he kind of made up for Cade's antics.

Didn’t even get through three chapters, I’m sorry Quinn!

That book had a MASSIVE eye-roll effect on me, oh my goodies… I actually liked Quinn just fine but whenever Cade appeared on page I already mentally disconnected because that boy isn’t a brat he is an ENORMOUS moron. Simple as that. That guy is whining and complaining the whole time and for what? Because he has to be protected 24/7 and is probably not allowed to use his motorbike for (OMG, hold on tight!!!) TWO WEEKS! Yeah, cry me a river…
And I think in the beginning it was mentioned he is that big shot and all that. Is he really that stupid of not thinking ahead of what might happen if he gets more and more popular? That he may gain stalker fans and all that which are going to require full-time bodyguards? It’s 2020 and we have access to the internet. There are stories like this almost every day but he didn’t see them or what? Ok :)

3.5/5 stars. This book was overall a good instalove Daddy/boy read, who had last minute (after 80%) twists that I hadn’t expected and if brought up before and properly involved in the story, would have made it a lot later. The writing style wasn’t my favorite but I did feel engaged and immersed enough to shed some tears for the hurt/comfort essence of this book. If you like some rough and tumble Daddy and brat action, and lots of hurt/comfort, this a quickly read that is good with some suspension of disbelief.

I liked the idea of Cade, a brat who lashed out because of his past trauma, finding care and comfort with his new body guard Daddy. It moved super fast but I know it was going to be instalove so that didn’t bother me. The Daddy kink was Daddy/boy, with Quinn giving Cade the space he needed after the abuse he had suffered from the hands of his past Daddy.

Some of the sex scenes were detailed and some were only a few lines long, which wasn’t my favorite though I understand not wanting to make every smut scene super long. It’s a difficult balance I can imagine. The scenes themselves were just okay.

The two twists - both a secret antagonist who I wish had instead been linked with the main antagonist instead of being his separate thing, and sudden ABDL/little play in the epilogue - were annoying. I love daddy/little, but why not commit all the way? Have in sprinkled in with the other Daddy stuff, or it just feels forced. The secret antagonist, I really do think that it would’ve been better laced with the main antagonist instead of its own thing.

Another issue, we never really see any type of resolution of Strada’s criminality?? There’s a brief mention that he had just disappeared. I found that weird. Why not clean it up?

I’ll probably read the rest cuz, well, it’s not bad. Just some plot holes.

I really liked Quinn and Cade. Quinn was great at being a Daddy. I loved how he took care of Cade and got him to trust him. Cade was definitely a brat and really made some poor choices that brought him into some potentially dangerous situations. It was a good thing Quinn was there to keep him safe along with some other security that Quinn trusted.

My problem with the story came in with the stalker portion of the plot. I really felt like I was missing things that would have tied it together better.

I found this book almost confusing, it was secret daddy but people knew, the whole stalker set up and reveal was just strange and didn't gel for me and all of a sudden at the end of the book we get a playroom and a little?

And it seemed we should know what CDR meant and who the side characters were? Maybe this was a spin-off but I couldn't find this referenced anywhere?

Ok for me it was like oh Daddy books are hotcakes right now, let's write one but it just doesn't quite hit the mark.

Book 2 , not sure where it will go, if it is same 2 Mc's Cade and Quinn or its different characters but I won't be rushing to grab it.

"A Gripping, Emotional, Hopeful, Exciting Story"

A young man from a broken childhood, in desperate need of protection, in more ways than one, denies the need for a big, strong, mighty tree-like bodyguard.  Somehow along the way this traumatized good man discovers what could be considered as a simmering yet innate need and desire for more than a bodyguard, one who coincidentally also happens to fill another need as a mighty biker companion as well.

This new read is a semi-massive story with an favorable and addicting storyline, one that is filled-to-the-gill with emotional, chemistry-laden, exciting, heat-filled, humorous, adorable moments.  There are so many reasons why my current read is a story that can be described as a "I need to read this story right now!" type-of-story as it clearly contains so many things this reader tends to favor when reading.

Hold Firm, by Sue Brown, is clearly a big story that contains a powerful bodyguard, his mighty one-eyed cat, as well as a strong yet needy young musician who craves so much more than anyone truly understands.  As a result, this story contains triggers, both animal and human abuse.  They are the reasons why this reader was close to ending this read early, and that isn't something that is typically done, if at all.  They are tough triggers that, in this readers opinion, are very tough to read.

With this in mind, there were also many things that lead the way for such a gripping, hopeful, and exciting read, that-kept-this-reader-GLUED all bug-eyed from beginning to end...

...YEAH...WHOOP! WHOOP!  Big strong bodyguards abound are what kept this reader cheering throughout this challenging read.  Moments of, "I'm not going to take anything from anyone, get out of my way!" type-of-scenarios, kept this reader from throwing a kindle across the room as a result of such unfathomable moments. It definitely turned into a special superman-esque type-of-read all with numerous twist and turns thrown into it as well.  All of which contributed to not being able to choose when to bawl, gasp, cheer, laugh..or drool in the end.

Hold Firm, is indeed a heavy story with a deep storyline which contains a bit of a daddy/boy kink as well.  There was so much to this story, perhaps so as to set the stage for future books of this series, that in the end had this reader actually wishing for more from this story.  I wish there was more of a steady pace with more development, especially in the area of the trauma, which was shocking that it was handled with such brevity as it is without-a-doubt one that should be handled with absolute care.  In addition, I also felt the thrilling moments were over before I even had a chance to even start biting my nails.

BUT!  Hold Firm collectively was a great story.  It’s storyline was fabulous; with its protective, nurturing, and comforting moments, its plot plentiful; with so many already developing sub-plots, and its yummy and mostly wonderful main and secondary characters as well.  There were exciting, emotional, adorable, humorous, and heat-filled moments, that collectively made this a great read. I really liked it! :)

Hold Firm is the first book in Sue Brown's Biker Daddy Bodyguards series. I'm still not sure how I feel about this one.

Quinn and Cade's tale has a lot of tropes involved. Cade's a celebrity who has a stalker. With Quinn hired to protect him, they add in a Daddy aspect. And with the tale taking place over four days, it's an insta love romance.

The main part of the story is okay, but too much is forced.

The stalker part is mostly fun, as there's love notes, flowers, and more. The danger is ever present, making for a good read. But...and it's a big but...there is more to the danger than it seems. The twists and turns really don't work for me. The big surprise comes out of nowhere, is creepy, and just doesn't seem realistic at all.
As for Cade, he isn't the most likeable at first. He's stubborn and doesn't fear as much as he should. But, in the end, he was hurt in his past and I enjoy seeing his new Daddy help him heal.

As for the men, everything seems forced. The short time period makes it hard to believe they bonded so quickly. I think I needed more of the development. More of the emotions involved. More connection between the men.

As for the BDSM/Daddy part of their relationship, it's okay, but it doesn't get much exploration. It's mentioned a lot, and having a Daddy is definitely what Cade needs. But it doesn't get a lot of page time.

And then there's the epilogue. And that just had me seeing red! Why? Because that is what I would have preferred all along. Age play is a favorite of mine. I desperately wish more development was given to this part of the story. It would have been so good. But, instead, it's just thrown out there and isn't explored. It ends up just being weird.

Overall, Hold Firm is a cute enough story, if you can overlook some of the downfalls. It's a decent start to this Biker Bodyguard series, but damn it, it could have been so much better. The men are sweet enough together, but Add in the revelation at the end at it just doesn't fit.

The author choose the storyline to be one way and it doesn't matter that I wish it had been something else. The meat of this tale is decent. The fact that I don't love all of it isn't an insult. It's more of a warning that if you think like I do, be warned that it isn't all you think it's going to be.

This book had a lot going on. There were way too many random side characters, and the book acted like we already knew the background. This is the first in a series and the first that I have read by this author. I get the feeling that it might be a spin-off of another series? And/or we are being introduced to characters that will end up with their own books? I don’t know but it really detracted from the book. There were also references to things that happened in Quinn’s past that were briefly mentioned as if it was just a reminder of something I should already know. Am I supposed to know what CDR is? What’s up with Dominic and why has his voice haunted Quinn’s nightmares for years? Am I supposed to already know Louis or is he a new character that we will see again in another book? Etc

The romance between Quinn and Cade was cute. It was not overly steamy, so if you like your books to be full of sexytimes then this might not be your cup of tea. There is sex, but not a ton and it tended to fade to black. The story focuses more on the emotional bond between the two.

There is daddy kink, but if that’s not your jam then I would not recommend reading a series titled “Biker Daddy Bodyguards” anyway. Quinn was the kind of book daddy who intuitively knew everything that Cade subconsciously wanted, which I don’t really like. I get it. The whole point of the daddy fantasy is that the boy can shut off his brain and let his daddy take care of him, but it gets a little old to see daddies who have some kind of superhuman intuition where they know exactly what to do and exactly how the people around them are thinking and what they need. That is just my opinion but I also know that would probably appeal to a lot of people. I find it a little hard to relate to.

Overall this was a good story but I would have preferred it if the side characters were consolidated (or at least we got a little exposition). The plot was a little all over the place too. There was just a lot going on. You think it’s a book about Cade’s stalker ex but then other stuff happens and it’s not just about the stalker ex, even though the ex was definitely horrible and was definitely a stalker.

Biker Daddy Bodyguards! Can you possibly see that title and not want to read the book?

Although, if you're looking for an intense dominance dynamic or a lot of on page daddy/boy bedroom kink time, you won't find it in Hold Firm. The author concentrated more on the healing process for Cade and building a strong connection between him and Quinn, rather than on the smexy. And I don't mean that the protagonists didn't have chemistry or that there weren't any hot encounters presented in the story, they only felt secondary to developing trust, affection and eventually love.

Honestly, I kinda want a daddy Quinn for myself now. The man wasn't only hot as all hell, he was the ultimate caretaker: tender, patient and giving. Just the fact he did all the cooking had me almost trying to grab him to keep forever. Alas, he fell for Cade lol. They were so, so sweet together, the boy terribly hurt by his former Daddy and the man who, despite how hard he tried to, couldn't stop wanting to be one to heal and care for his younger charge.

I loved seeing how, no matter how much they wanted to keep their relationship professional, it took them a short amount of time to realize they were both precisely what they needed for themselves. I'm sure some readers will say it was rushed between them, but sometimes when you know, you know. When you find someone precious, the one who seems made just for you, you hold strong and don't let go. Right?

I really enjoyed this book, the romance and how sensitive subjects were treated. A great introduction to a new series and I can't wait to read the next installments.

I was gifted this book in a price draw. There were 3 words that caught my attention: bikers, daddies and bodyguards. I was not familiar with Sue Brown, but was excited to read her book. And it didn't disappoint me. Although there was not really an MC involved other than that the major characters all like to drive bikes. But the bodyguard and daddy aspect was fulfilling enough. Cade has grown up in foster care and has made his way up in the world as a lead singer of a pop band and as a painter and sculpturer. He's also a submissive but ended up with the wrong daddy who mentally and physically abused him. Quinn is a respectful daddy and bodyguard and therefore hired to protect Cade from his previous daddy. It takes time and a lot of patience from Quinn to show Cade that a true daddy is nothing like what he has experienced. In fact, Quinn is the best daddy to show him what it can be. But Cade has a problem with trusting again and often falls back to what he's been taught. Quinn cannot believe the damage the daddy has done to this boy, and he vows to hunt the man down. But things don't go as it should, and soon hearts get involved. Can Cade find the trust to surrender to Quinn, and can Quinn give him what he needs? It was only meant to be a temporarily daddy/boy relationship, but can they say goodby in the end? There are characters mentioned in this book that refer to previous books of Sue's backlog. It's not a necessity to have read these first, as this is the first book in a new series.

4,5*

A great start to a new series! I'm happy to get the chance for an ARC!
Can't wait for more books!!

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-
Away-book like
‘Jesse's Smile' or ‚Joey’ from Angelique Jurd,
‘Save the kids' series from EM Leya,
‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or
'Liberty' from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a
WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises
(like most of Andrew Grey books and
Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few
times a year (most romances where you can
enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader,
maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-
reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but
it was ok). It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too
many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an
absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole
line, dismissed, repeat the class

As soon as Quinn sees Cade hunched in a chair spitting fire and ice at him he knows exactly why he was chosen for his bodyguard and as much as he doesn't want to take the job with Cade's life in danger he can't turn him away - however, is he there as a bodyguard, a fake boyfriend or as his Daddy? Cade doesn't want a bodyguard 24/7 as he works hard and parties harder. But Quinn is not the usual type he is sent as he is 6 foot five or solid muscle with a voice that makes him want to beg for his attention. It seems Quinn is all three - to their friends he is Cade's boyfriend, to the suspect he is Cade's Daddy and to the rest of the world he is his bodyguard. He can't help thinking that it will not end well.

I enjoyed this story with the angst of the abusive ex, the hot bodyguard/boyfriend/Daddy and the brattish Little who was not happy. The drama and danger were very real and I love the way that they were able to agree on their relationship even though it changed part way through. Both were complex characters but I was thrilled that they were able to find an agreement and it finished exactly how it should. Easy to read and understand. Contains mature content of a BDSM nature of the DDLB variety.
