Whilst I was quite excited to read this book considering the talk around how close the writers were to the city dressing room I was bitterly disappointed with the content and insights that were shared. On a few occasions, the writer is even quoting journalists like Henry Winter. Also, was not a fan of the way the book was structured flicking through 3 different seasons continuously. I would have preferred the authors to have taken a chronological approach starting with pep’s first season in 2016/2017 and then finishing with 2018/2019

I think one of the positives was getting an insight into some of peps training methods and his unique style to man management. However, if you as a reader are more interested in pep’s management style and approach instead of Man City then I would strongly recommend the book written by Martin Perarnau which explores more closely the tactics adopted by Pep’s. You also get a better understanding of peps personality and his obsession with the beautiful sport!

The book is not about the Pep's philosophy about soccer as I hoped to see. It's actually an introduction of key people that form the team. Not only the players, but the support crew as well. There are also a few recap of matches, which I don't understand why they are included in the book. I just skimmed through them. Overall a fair read. I enjoyed reading the prologue -- an account of Pep's day at the office, more than any main chapters.

Brilliant book that covers all aspect of Guardiola’s City since his arrival. The chapters cover everything, such as the 14 game win streak, Sergio Aguero, Pep’s daily routine and key matches. As a City fan, it’s been great to learn a bit more on the key figures behind the scenes. Definitely a 5 star and a huge recommendation to any Pep or City fan.

4.2⭐️ czytało mi się to jakbym sama była kimś w Man City, czuć że autor był/jest blisko szatni i samego Pepa. Możemy poznać, w tej książce Pepa od strony ludzkiej, jego przyzwyczajeń, przesądów i metod jakie stosuje co jest niesamowite i napewno dla fanów jego szkolenia będzie fajnymi ciekawostkami. Co mnie zaskoczyło pozytywnie to kontakt, z całym klubem, że po przegraniu jakiegoś ważnego meczu nie było myślenia, że Pepa może trzeba zwolnić. Na początku myślałam, że przeszkodzą mi wstawki o prywatnym życiu Pepa,ale myślę że bez nich nie do końca byśmy Pepa zrozumieli. Polecam książkę fanom City, ale również osobą zainteresowanym samym Pepem.


(jestem jego fanką od czasów trenowania Bayernu, co tym bardziej fajnie wypada, w tej książce ponieważ aktualnym trenerem jest Vincent Kompany, czyli były kapitan City, sam Pep spytany przez Bayern o Kompanego polecił go)

В книге доступным языком двух испанских журналистов, Лу Мартина и Поля Баллуса, рассказывается обо всех этапах становления команды Пепа: как знаменитый каталонец начал строить суперкоманду с вратаря до центрфорварда, какие усилия пришлось ему для этомго привнести, с какими сложностям он столкнулся на пути к вершине английского футбола, какие трофеи выиграл и какие не сумел.

В книге тридцать восемь глав, каждая из которых посвящена отдельной теме, будь то конкретному игроку, группе игроков или тренеров или какому-то определяющему матчу в карьере звездной команды.

Всем поклонникам "Сити", английского футбола и каталонского тренера уверен, что понравится.

I'm always cautious about sports / athletes biographies, because more often than not I find myself reading a hagiography with a PR spin to it, but I actually really enjoyed this book quite a lot! I appreciate all the glimpses we got of the intricate mechanisms and carefully balanced teams necessary to make a big sports franchise function efficiently. I'm very interested in the relationship between a club and their supporters / city / management team more than I am invested in individual players and season-centric narratives, so those parts were right up my alley; if you're a Man City fan, you might enjoy the chapters dedicated to specific players more than I did.

A journalistic masterpiece, and definitely not a standard football bio of a club or their manager. Every chapter unfolds another character, another key match, another dimension of the Premier League juggernaut that Man City have become under Pep Guardiola's extraordinary leadership. This is a must read for anyone wanting to understand how a great sports team evolves. The bios of a backroom team who have worked with their impossibly demanding manager for many years give a fascinating insight into the dynamics of leadership and management that make City such a force in the beautiful game.

Huge potential but it could be easily half shorter. Unnecessary, pages-long matches' descriptions, not important facts. I hated the chronology as well. One chapter finishing in 2019 and on the next page we're back to 2017, chaotic.

It's easy and really hard to read at the same time. Very short chapters -- in plus, you can literally read a chapter during a 5-min bus ride.

Un libro para pasar el rato y no mucho más. No muestra mucho sobre el trabajo de Pep y su equipo.

Contiene muchas historias y fechas sin sentido alguno. Mitad del libro podría no haberse escrito porque es insignificante para el lector.

El libro no fue lo que esperaba. De toda la bibliografía que ha generado Pep Guardiola, este es de los peores que recuerde.

Good read for any city fan and worth reading as soon as you can for timeliness. Not a huge surprise after reading this that city are struggling after the loss of Arteta and Torrent.

Mejor decirlo de una vez: el Manchester City y Pep jamás han sido mis figuras favoritas en el fútbol y siempre he mirado sus logros con cierto recelo. Este libro me hizo apreciar mucho del trabajo que un club debe hacer fuera de las canchas. A veces pensamos (pensaba) que con billetazos se gana todo en el fúbtol... En buena medida esto es cierto, pero este libro me hizo pensar en aspectos de la constancia, el trabajo y la disciplina que no había considerado antes. Ahora puedo decir que respeto el Manchester City y la creatividad inagotable de Guardiola. Si bien el libro no se enfoca en el aspecto táctico de Pep, sí muestra el camino del City para consolidarse como un club de élite mundial, todo fraguado por la mente del Catalán. Me gustó mucho que se habla de todos los detalles del club y los jugadores. Este trabajo es muy minucioso y muy bueno. Sólo se lleva cuatro estrellas porque los capítulos a veces se tornan un poco tediosos, pero fuera de eso es un excelente libro de fútbol.

No hay figura en el mundo del fútbol que en los últimos años haya generado tanta bibliografía como Pep Guardiola. A la biografía escrita por Guillem Balagué y los dos volúmenes de Martí Perarnau, ahora se les une Cuadernos de Mánchester, relato que narra el desembarco de Pep en el City y la revolución que ha protagonizado en la Premier. Escriben dos periodistas barceloneses afincados en Mánchester y el prólogo corre a cargo de Noel Gallagher, un buen motivo para salir corriendo a la librería más cercana.

Una de las mejores maneras de explicar lo difícil que es triunfar en el fútbol, sea donde sea. O incluso en la vida. Siempre será clave rodearte de un gran grupo humano y remar en la misma dirección. Me ha gustado mucho que todo esté contado desde la perspectiva de los protagonistas a través de declaraciones de los mismos. A cada uno se le da protagonismo y se les pone nombre a los más desconocidos. Siempre en el barco de Pep Guardiola.
