Victoria Pinder grew up in Irish Catholic Boston before moving to the Miami sun. She’s worked in engineering, after passing many tests proving how easy Math came to her. Then hating her life at the age of twenty four, she decided to go to law school. Four years later, after passing the bar and practicing very little, she realized that she hates the practice of law. She refused to one day turn 50 and realize she had nothing but her career and hours at a desk. After realizing she needed change, she became a high school teacher. Teaching is rewarding, but writing is a passion. During all this time, she always wrote stories to entertain herself or calm down. Her parents are practical minded people demanding a job, and Victoria spent too many years living other people’s dreams, but when she sat down to see what skill she had that matched what she enjoyed doing, writing became so obvious. The middle school year book when someone wrote in it that one day she’d be a writer made sense when she turned thirty. The second book in the Collins Brother's series brings Daniel and Kate's story. The author does a great job developing the story and pulls you in with all the action and danger as well as a bit of humor and steam and her scenes are painted in vivid detail. She had me on the edge with all the twists and turns and delivers another great read!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I have read this author's work for the first time with this book and I have to say that I struggled a lot with it. The story is good, really good. It has character and it has, as my friend will say, good bones. But it's, in my opinion, still unfinished. There should have been more editing and more care given to the sentences. A lot of them starts with she/he. They could have been changed to be more interesting, so the story flows easier, better.
And another thing about sentences: the author could have molded the short sentences together so it seemed like a longer sentence and as I said above to give a story an easier flow. not just saying in separate senteced what she's done but put it together to make the story richer.
But even though I struggled with this editing, the story deserved this rating because it was really interesting. And I'm even wanting to read the next one just because I'm curious about the other Collins brothers.
And another thing I wanted to know is why are there so many of his girlfriends there on that ship and why the hell were they all together at his house? Where do they come in. I feel like the author just put them there to create more drama. Her sister, her dad and ONE girlfriend has been enough. There was no need for more.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
Borrowing the Doctor is fast paced romance. Kate is trying to clear her name after her father set her up to take the fall for an art theft. When she meets Dr Daniel Collins he can see though her party girl facade and sparks fly.
Kate and Daniel they had good chemistry and they are fun together. Someone is trying to kidnap and kill Kate and I enjoyed following the mystery and having mystery and action mixed in with the romance, the majority of which is set on a cruise ship.
You will have to suspend your disbelieve a little at times when it comes to the how companies are actually owned and operate and how medicine works but by that point in the story I was having a good time so I didn't mind so much.
I would suggest the book needs to be edited further. Several times poorly structured sentences interrupted the flow of the story and so did the repetition of certain phrases.
Overall though, Borrowing the Doctor was an enjoyable story.

This is an enjoyable story about a spoilt heiress and an ex-marine doctor. They meet due to a wedding on a cruise, and a complicated plot ensues. I liked the underlying story, but in places the story seemed disjointed, and implausible (well, even more implausible than other action romances!) I would read more by the author as she has some interesting ideas.
This is the second book in the Collins Brothers Series and is Daniel and Kate's story. This is really more of a romantic mystery as Kate tries to find proof that she is the real heir to her mother's estate and not her stepfather. They're opposites but you know what they say about opposites and how they attract. This book is full of action with lots of suspense. Thrown in a kidnapping, plenty of angst, some mystery, and explosive chemistry. A fake relationship slowly becomes real. Addictive and a great read. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review it.
I received an ARC of 'Borrowing the Doctor' in exchange for my honest review.
I loved the flow & suspense of this book, just when you think you've figured out who/what/when & where, Victoria chucks another twist into the storyline. I've just realise that I missed reading book 1, as 'Borrowing the Doctor' is book 2 in the "Collins Brothers" series... I intend to read book 1 ASAP, but it isn't required to understand whats going on in book 2.
What would you do if your immediate family & media paints you out to be a party girl, theif, socialite, all around bad person?? Kate is that girl, keeping herself quiet until her family are around, it isn't until her baby sister Stephanie is getting married that things get c r a z y... Daniel has been asked to keep the bad girl busy & out of the brides hair, but 1 look at Kate & he doesn't beilieve anything he has read or heard about her...
I found myself lost within the cruise, Kate's bad luck constantly ringing in my mind, I felt sorry for the character, to have such a father & sister (shacking my head)... I absolutely LOVED how Daniel sticks by her side, getting to know the REAL Kate, his family is AMAZING too... I NEED to read more about the "Collins Brothers".
Will a shipboard romance end in an HEA? Can a millionaire doctor and a troubled heiress to a fashion empire find true love - between problems caused by his harem of ex-girlfriends and a stable-full of male relatives, plus the dangers posed by her murderous criminal father and evilly beautiful sister - it seems highly unlikely.
Victoria Pinder is the Princess of Romantic Suspense, who never fails to satisfy your needs for an exquisitely-crafted tale of romance and adventure, with every book she writes.
Daniel, the second romance par excellence, in her Collins Brothers series is no exception - get your copy as soon as you can, because Gerard is already on his way to join Sean and Daniel...now there's a tasty trilogy of men to drool over!
dnf'ed at 30%...thus, no rating. This one jumped all over the place for me. Are they in the lobby? in the bar? outside? I could barely follow the characters movements, let alone their motivations. I just couldn't connect with them or the story. The instalove was also not my favorite. It felt like it came out of a can I have in my pantry for emergencies..... forced, contrived, and there only because it was the only option. Harsh? maybe. Truthful? absolutely. Le sigh.

Daniel is the second story but the eldest son, physician, and ex-Marine. He is in Miami with his brothers preparing for a cruise to the Cayman Islands with their cousin, Eric, who has asked him to corral Kate Sparrow, sister of the bride, and a known player and bad girl. First thing happens when he follows Kate to her room and finds her door ajar and her dog slain on her bed. Turns out the dog is safe with the dog sitter back home, but the bride accuses her of killing her dog. Anyway, Daniel takes Kate to his room since he has two beds and the hotel is full. He begins to see she is nothing like her reputation. When they get to the ship the next day, they find her reservation has been canceled, but Daniel again allows her to share his cabin since there is no other space. Kate has to get to the Cayman Bank to get into her and her father's safety deposit boxes to get proof for the FBI that her father, who is in jail, is guilty of the art theft she has been accused of stealing. There are multiple men who work for her father trying to kidnap and/or kill her on the ship. Lots of action, with Kate suffering and being saved multiple times, along with confrontations with her sister. It's a good thing Liam, an FBI agent, and Gerard, a lawyer, are there to help when her mother's will is questioned. Lots of surprises and twists in this plot. A great read!
Kate's sister and father have set her up for a crime that she did not commit and now she is on a cruise to get the evidence that she needs and also her sister is getting married not for love but for money. Daniel is asked to keep Kate out of trouble so the wedding can go smoothly but when he meets Kate he has his suspicions that something it not right. Kate and Daniel's chemistry and connection is so strong and off the charts hot but will they act on it or not. There are twists and turns along with betrayal, secrets, danger, kidnapping, love, hope and so many other situations. Will Kate be able to clear her name and what is in the box at the bank that her mother left her, she needs to sort it all out to be able to get back to her own life and where does Daniel fit in to it. Wow i love this book and series so much and i can not wait to read the next book in this amazing series. Victoria Pinder is an amazing author and writer and i recommend that you read this book, series and other books by her and you will not be disappointed. I Voluntarily reviewed an Arc copy of this book.
Kate is being set up by her father and sister. She is desperate to clear her name. Her sister's wedding brings her closer to redemption... she meets Daniel - cousin to her sister's fiance. Before meeting her, he agrees to keep an eye on her and out of her sister's way. Her reputation is not good, but when he meets her, he quickly begins to question everything. There is plenty of drama and danger in this story. As with other Victoria Pinder stories, this is an easy read - enough information to pull you in, but not so much that makes it a long read. Looking forward to reading more about the other Collins brothers.
This was a good romance suspense story. Katie had been labeled as the party girl who was a thief by the tabloids. But was it all true? Daniel is the oldest Collins son, and a doctor. They met at her sisters wedding party. There was more to it than just sibling jealousy. And there was way too many secrets. Whom to believe was key. Was Katie really what the papers and her family said? Or was she the fall guy for others who wanted the money?
This second book in the series has it all, mystery, romance, twists and turns, dysfunctional family, and a happy ending. Daniel and Kate have instant chemistry but Kate has trust issues and Daniel has his hands full keeping her safe and getting her to let her guard down. Daniel's family is just what Kate needs. I look forward to the next book in this series.
Another great book in this series of love, intrigue and murder. This book was a real eye opener going from a love to finding that a sister and father would commit murder to get what they want. Great read for everyone. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
Kate Sparrow, known as the trouble maker of the family. The tabloids love to exploit what seems to be her downfall. All Kate wants to do is get evidence to show she’s a nice person.
Her sister Stephanie has other plans that could ruin just that, as Kate tries to talk her sister out of marrying a guy she doesn’t love.
The said fiancé happens to be the cousin of the renowned Collins family. Daniel Collins, Dr extraordinaire, had been given the task to babysit the troubled sister Kate, so that the wedding can take place with out any issues.
The only thing is Daniel has no idea the chaos and drama that unfolds in doing so. Agreements are made but drastic lines are crossed and feelings get involved.
Neither of them expected that there cruise vacation would take a lasting impact.
This sweet and sexy romance includes a great deal of intrigue and suspense. The characters are fascinating and engaging, while the storyline holds your attention until the very last page. It would be hard not to admire the couple at the centre of this story.
Poor Kate Sparrow has a dysfunctional and greedy family who will stop at nothing to keep her out of the family fashion empire. Daniel Collins is a doctor who has recently left his military career, and is planning to finally open his own medical practice in his hometown. Both Kate and Daniel are attending the same wedding as she is the bride’s sister and he is the groom’s cousin. The wedding will take place on a cruise to the Cayman Islands. Kate’s reputation has been ruined by her family and she is currently trying to get her hands on the evidence needed to clear her of criminal charges and convict the real criminal...her father. The evidence she needs is in two safety boxes at a Grand Cayman bank. Kate warns the groom to be and the Collins brothers that her sister is not marrying for love, but only for money. As a go out to the groom, Daniel agrees to keep Kate in check, but soon becomes her ally instead.
It becomes evident very quickly that Kate has enemies who want something from her. The threats escalate with Kate suffering through physical attacks and a kidnapping, making Daniel and his brothers more determined to protect her and find her enemy or enemies. Through her sister’s machinations, Daniel and Kate end up sharing a stateroom on the cruise ship. They might have only known each other for about a minute, but both realize that they have a connection that is much more than superficial. Unexpected passionate nights strengthen that connection and both hope for it to continue beyond the charade they are playing for the benefit of her enemies. Daniel knows that Kate is not the horrible and wild party girl out to destroy the family business. She puts on a tough, carefree and brittle facade, but underneath she is a kind, caring person with great inner strength and courage. He also sees the vulnerable girl who just wanted to be part of a loving family, but instead got a family that wants to strip her of her inheritance, at any cost. Kate sees Daniel as a strong, reliable and very protective man who has a close knit and very supportive family. Can Daniel help Kate to thwart her enemies? Can their fake romance turn into a very happily ever after?
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Yowzer! Daniel is a suspenseful romance of the highest degree. It is the second book in the Collins Brothers series and is every bit as good as the first book, Sean. This is the story of Kate Sparrow, an accused felon, shallow party girl who wants to stop her manipulative sister from marrying into the Collins family. Daniel has been tasked to keep Kate occupied and away from her sister while on a Carribean cruise culminating in her sister's wedding. But as Daniel and Kate spend time together, he realizes that Kate is not what her reputation labels her. Daniel sees for himself that Kate is being targeted by extremely dangerous people. I lost count but Kate survives several attacks as the danger escalates into attempted murder. Who is behind it all? I did not see that coming! Never fear...Kate and Daniel survive and achieve their much-deserved HEA ending. Victoria Pinder is a talented author who uses her words to take one on a rollicking adventure. While there is some adult content, I would rate the heat level and adult language as PG-13. An excellent addition to a remarkable series.

Kate Sparrow was the billionaire heiress of a fashion empire. She was accused of stupid crimes she would never commit by her father with the help of her sister, Stephanie. Daniel Collins was attending the wedding of his younger cousin Eric to Stephanie. Kate was trying to inform the groom of her sister’s machinations, but her attempts were unsuccessful. Stephanie’s manipulation led to Daniel babysitting Kate. From the first moment, they met there were sparks between them that slowly turned into a love fire. Even though Kate had trouble trusting people, Daniel’s constant protection had her lowering her walls and falling quickly in love with him. Her father’s constant attempts to scare her led her to one big mistake. Could she live in a world without her sweet doctor? Daniel is the second book in the Collins Brothers series by Victoria Pinder. It’s a suspense romance about the oldest brother, Daniel, the doctor of the family, and Kate, a socialite.
I will start with the technical parts of the book. It’s well written, I haven’t found any grammar or spelling mistakes. It has a smooth transition between the paragraphs. The story has a slow build-up and packs a lot of action for a romantic book. What bothered me was that it dragged out with so many chapters and some of them felt like being on repeat. They had the exact same scenes but written a bit differently.
The characters were ok, there wasn’t much change about them. They were exactly like the ones from the first book. Only in this one, the female character was a bit annoying for me.
In general, the plot was interesting but the repeating scenes failed to keep my interest. The ending was nice and I liked the family gathering. I will rate it with 3 stars.
I really liked this story – the plot was unique and the characters were colorful, and I’m always a big fan when there is a strong family connection like you have with the Collins family. I loved the bit of mystery that was woven in to the story, and having most of the story take place on a cruise ship made for some fun times in close quarters!
Kate was an interesting hero to me. She is nothing like her bad girl the papers claim she is, but she also doesn't do much to help herself out of that box either. Her family is just awful, she has no real friends, and is now doing what she has to in order to clear her name for a crime her father has set her up for. I absolutely hated her sister, but it was fun to watch them face off against each other at times. After learning about her past and her current situation, it’s easy to see why she may have some trust issues.
Daniel just can’t help himself when it comes to Kate. What starts as a favor for his cousin in keeping Kate distracted so she doesn't ruin the wedding quickly turns into an attraction that finds him turning into Kate’s protector. He’s the total package – sweet, sexy, protective, a bit of an alpha, and a doctor to boot! I loved that fact that there was nothing fake about Daniel – he really was the nice guy that you saw.
I loved the family dynamics between the Collins family members. There’s nothing better in a book to get to see the family dynamics – the teasing, the care, the concern, and the protectiveness. They really made you want to be a part of that dynamic and feel a part of that big family hug they were giving.
My only issue with the book was some editing and continuity problems that I found a bit too distracting to ignore. There were several times that I found myself having to flip back between pages to see if I missed something and the writing seemed to be a bit choppy at times, especially with a lot of extra commas thrown in. Normally a few of these issues don’t bother me, but there were enough of them that it detracted from the overall enjoyment of the book.
All in all I really did like this story and hope that it gets a bit of polishing. I will definitely be interested in checking out more from this author, especially when it comes to the rest of the Collins brothers!
I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
The story begins in Miami where the Collins family and Kate are gathered to board a luxury cruise ship for Kate's sister to marry (Stephanie). Stephanie's groom-to-be has asked his cousin Daniel to basically 'babysit' Kate, who is quite famous for her party girl behavior.
Kate and Daniel are instantly attracted to each other, but circumstances have Daniel in protective mode where Kate is concerned. Not only is Daniel a doctor, but a former Marine.
Turns out Kate is not quite what the papers claim her to be. She is sweet and naïve.
I did not read the first story of the series, so I wondered if I was going to be out of the loop when this story began. But I don't believe book 2 has a whole lot to do with book 1, except the book 1 couple makes brief appearances in this one.
The first of the story definitely left my head spinning with all the information flashing at me, and it never really let up. There were so many secondary characters, it was too much. The addition of a barrage of Daniel's ex-girlfriends, all of whom still desperately wanted him - too much. All of the men that were out to kill/kidnap Kate - too much.
I felt as though nothing was truly explained. Where did the necklace really fit in? What on earth would it have to do with being the owner of a company?
Why did Stephanie, plus their father, hate Kate so much?
And since I have personally been on a TON of cruises, a lot of the cruise stuff did not make sense to me. If someone was out to get me, I would not feel safe once I got inside my cabin. And when someone had broken into the cabin at some point, that still did not seem to affect Kate or Daniel's feeling of security in the cabin…..?
So many questions left me confused!
I feel as though the idea was a good one, and could still be fixed to be great. A serious editing would need to occur, with the editor also checking for story furtherance and continuity issues.
Also, for the length of the book, there were SO many chapters. Where there should have been breaks, from sex to waking up, there weren't. But new chapters happened when there should not have been.
Again, I am not stating this is a bad book. It just needs some work and cleaning up, and I think it'd be great.
Romance Readers received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
4.5 Stars There's no book by this author that I don't love. Somehow Vitoria Pinder manages to exceed the last book I read again and again, unbelievably!
This power couple has to go through many ups and downs. The storyline contains so many intrigues, kidnappings, twists and much more - hhmmm that makes me rethink my plans for a cruise. Stephen King is the absolute synonym for horror, and this is definitely true of Vitoria Pinder when it comes to really, really vicious family members.
For Kate and Daniel it is not only a boat trip through hell but also a journey into the depths of absolute love. So, what are you waiting for? Grab the book and take part in this absolutely crazy trip, you don't want to miss it.
I received an ARC of this book provided via Bookfunnel. I have voluntarily chosen to leave my review in support of this book.
Another great book!! Easy reading, cannot put it down book!! Daniel is a gorgeous doctor. Katie is the fashionista who needs to learn about life and love. It's fast and fun. Always a good ending but a few hold your breath along the way!!
This book was a fun read. I haven't read the first book in the series but wasn't lost or confused at all. Kate is being framed by her father so she won't be a creditable witness against him. Her sister is doing everything possible to make her sister look bad and help her father. Kate is going on a cruise for her sister's wedding. The groom has asked his cousin Daniel to baby sit Kate and make sure she doesn't cause on trouble. Daniel agrees but once he meets Kate he is drawn to her and has a feeling there is more going on than he has been told. He finds himself helping Kate and starting to develop feeling for her. Kate is a mission to find proof against her father and to prove her innocence to the FBI. At first to she isn't sure what to make of Daniel, then he starts helping her even when she isn't very nice to him. No one has been nice to Kate in a long time let alone wanted to help her without getting anything in return. She begins to develop feeling for Daniel as well. But she can't do anything about those feelings. She can't drag Daniel into the middle of her mess and possible put him in danger. Will Kate be able to clear her name and keep Daniel out of danger? I really liked this book. It had romance, danger, twists and turns. Daniel kept running into his exes on the cruise. Daniel and Kate found themselves helping each other in different ways and falling in love in the process. I never saw the ending coming. Who needs enemies when you have a family like Kate does. Daniel and Kate's families are so different. Kate has always wished for a family like Daniels. They are close and there for each other. I would love to read more about Kate and Daniel. I have put the first book on my TBR list. I will also be keeping my eye for future books in this series. I was given this book in return for an honest review.
I thought this was a lovely story with a wonderful plot, it just left to many unanswered questions. The book is full of twists and turns along with mystery, hired guns, evil sister, evil father and bad guys. Everything that you could want in this type of story.
I really loved Kate she is strong, can stand on her own two feet. She is caring and very loveable standing up for what she believes in. When pulled into something she has no control over she comes out fighting, in doing so she puts her life in danger. So many want her dead, so many wants what she has. Is she really the play girl party animal everyone has displayed her as?
When Daniel agrees to be her baby setter he didn’t know what he was signing up for. He does have his hands full with this spitfire. I adore him along with his whole family they are wonderful caring people. He is a strong alpha ex Marine who knows how to take care of his own. He is just an all-round wonderful sexy man.
This story has wonderful places in it with a wonderful plot. The author does tell a great story but leaves many questions unanswered. I never understood what the necklace entitled or why so many ex’s where together at her sister’s wedding, why they were together at his home. I get they wanted him back but why travel together? They were with her father’s killers why, did they know her sister? That is just a few of the questions I have. At times the author lost me with comments that had no meaning or went nowhere. The ending was ok but could have been a little better with a little more information. For me this was a 4 star read with a great plot and great characters had the missing information been there it would have been closer to a 5 star.
I have to say that at the beginning of the novel I didn’t like a single character in the story. They all had these lies about them. They all seemed to have their own agendas. And none of them were really very nice. Well, I’m happy to say that all of that changed fairly early in the novel.
I did like that the Collins family really stuck together. The four brothers came to support their cousin for his wedding….but that is also where some of my hatred started. Eric, the cousin to be married, begged Dr. Daniel Collins to keep tabs on Kate, the sister of the bride. (Kate is also reported to be an alcoholic, care-free, ruthless person who doesn’t care about anyone or anything that gets in her path.) Daniel agreed by expected the worst. I just couldn't’ believe that Daniel would go as far to fake being interested in someone just to make sure his cousin’s wedding was a success.
However, you could almost tell from the first time they crossed paths that something huge was going to happen. Daniel and Kate both feel the electricity when they encounter each other. Sparks fly hot and heavy for awhile, but they both find themselves rethinking things often. Kate has never had anyone in her life that cared about her, much less felt protective of her. Daniel has never even thought he could love someone, but his desire to keep Kate safe at all costs is truly heartwarming - and just what the doctor ordered.
I enjoyed the twists and turns in this book. There were a few grammatical errors that distracted me, but most of the time I was just in tune with Kate and what she was hoping to gain from the weekend at sea with her sister and the Collins family. If you enjoy a little suspense with your romance, this book is for you.
This was my first read of the Collins Brothers series, and I fell in love with these characters. It features Daniel and Kate and a twisted and thrilling plot. This book definitely kept me on my toes and reading as fast I could to see what came next. It's full of mystery, hate, suspense, romance and a beautiful unexpected love story. I loved the family dynamics between the Collins family members the teasing, the closeness, the concern, and the protectiveness they have for eachother and the one's they love. I found myself wishing I was a part of this bunch. Kate is in the spotlight with the image of a spoiled party girl and socialite. But everything's not always as you read about in the gossip columns. Kate don't care she lets them think whatever they want. She finds herself having to go on a cruise for her sisters wedding and is not to thrilled because they don't exactly get along. Doctor Duncan Campbell is on the cruise for his cousins wedding. He is asked to keep an eye on Kate by the wedding couple, he has no intentions of getting close or getting to know her just keep her tamed from ruining the wedding. As he gets to know her he realizes there is more to her then what he was told about her. Now he just wants to protect her. Kate and Daniel are instantly attracted to each other, but circumstances on borad the ship have Daniel fighting to protect Kate. Not only is Daniel a doctor, but a former Marine with a FBI brother on board as well with someone trying to kill the woman he is slowly falling for. Kate has a very hard time trusting anyone, can't say I blame her. Being set up by her father and sister and now someone on the cruise is out to get her. The only bright spot is the Doctor and his family. This is definetly a series I will continue to follow!!!!
This is a great story; it has turns and twists, action and adventure, a mystery to solve, so sleuthing is involved; family is involved very extensively in this novel; the families of both the main male and the main female characters` families. The families are however the complete antithesis of one another. At first my impression of the main male character was that of a quiet gentle man; this is true but there is more to him than this. The main female character was a hard read for me to being with and then as the story evolved I started to get a clearer picture of her. Along their journey, the main male and main female characters had a very tender romance, that kept growing right to the end of the story. I think this story could suit a number of people, as it has the high action and adventure on one side and the lovely romance evolving on the other. Good Stuff!
I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novel from the author and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.
