The world has changed. Tan has survived three years in a reintegration camp he was sent to for being gay, but he's at the limit of what he can endure, even with the help of his best friend, Austin.

When a massive meteor shower creates chaos at the camp, Austin and Tan take the chance to escape. They’re joined by Mack, a newbie at camp who is an expert in survival but knows nothing about love…or anything else.

But when they discover human-like aliens have landed on Earth with war on their agenda, their escape becomes a hell of a lot more dangerous. They grow close, but without power and food and no safe place to stay, how will they survive?

They find shelter but quickly discover that they can no longer tell who friends are...and who the enemy is. With the world bing destroyed before their eyes and their lives and that of mankind at stake, where can they find safety. freedom...and love?

While the world around them burns, all they have are each other.

The Ignite Trilogy is a slow burn MMM romance set in a dystopian world and offers a thrilling combination of action, romance, and suspense. Now for the first time in one box set: all three books plus exclusive, never before released bonus chapters and a bonus novella called Pax.

Would you like the long or the short version of my bio?

The short? You got it.

I write steamy gay romance books and I love it. I also love reading books. Books are everything.

How was that?

A little more detail? Gotcha.

I started writing my first stories when I was a teen…on a freaking typewriter. I still have these, and they’re adorably romantic. And bad, haha. Fear of failing kept me from following my dream to become a romance author, so you can imagine how proud and ecstatic I am that I finally overcame my fears and self doubt and did it. I adore my genre because I love writing and reading about flawed, strong men who are just a tad broken..but find their happy ever after anyway.

My favorite books to read are pretty much all MM/gay romances as long as it has a happy end. Kink is a plus… Aside from that, I also read a lot of nonfiction and not just books on writing. Popular psychology is a favorite topic of mine and so are self help and sociology.

Hobbies? Ain’t nobody got time for that. Just kidding. I love traveling, spending time near the ocean, and hiking. But I love books more.

I already reviewed the series here --> Ignite, but I picked up the box set to read the novella Pax. Pax is such a sweetheart and the novella is a bit of a road trip story.

It says a lot when you have a full series and then it comes out again in a box set, with extra content, and you go ahead and get it again because it's worth it. If you go to each book you might find my individual reviews, so for the first three books I won't gush too much. I adore Tan, Mack and Austin. They're all wonderfully unique and have so much to give to each other.
This series is the perfect sci fi series for the non sci fi lover. There's not much "out there" science that you don't understand that leaves you wondering what's going on, while also not leaving detalis on the air. Nora even took the time to think of the culture the aliens come from! It's a lot more detailed in the novella, Pax, also included in the box set.
It's absolutely amazing and you should definitely give it a shot!

I really enjoyed this story and thought Kenneth Obi did a great job except for the voice of the aliens - which despite being described as melodic, was anything but. It wasn’t a big deal until Pax’s romance story. It was just so off putting hearing that voice and inflection attributed to him. That plus I didn’t really get the relationship.

Tan, Mac, and Austin however, were great!

A daring escape, an alien invasion, and unexpected love.

This bundle is the perfect way to read this saga! The world Nora has created comes alive, immersing you. I was drawn into the character's lives from the first pages. From the new configuration of the United States, to the alien invasion, to the homophobic laws & brutal rehab camps, these books are non- stop action. And the sex is smoking hot.
Come. Follow Austin, Tan and Mack as they escape from the gay internment camp, where Tan has been constantly abused. Fleeing during an alien invasion, their bond grows. Each man has particular skills that compliment the others. Finding refuge from both the aliens & humans eager to steal their supplies, they also find something else... love. Along the way they will make an alien friend, find a lost brother & a father, and not only survive, but thrive. In the end, HEA is assured, but the road isn't smooth. The journey is well worth the trip. You will love this series.
Triggers: PTSD, past issues of rape and abuse, which are handled with dignity. There is violence, including death, but they are not gratuitous. These issues are integral to the story. I was in no way offended.
This book contains adult themes and language, mmm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

Well, this was an intense read and not what I was expecting. Hot, hot, hot - in many ways.

I got it based on reviews in Nora's e-mails and I am very happy I did. Depressing to watch what happens to Earth (but almost believable in this current political climate) but lovely to see the 3 MC's come together and survive, with the help of the wonderful secondary characters. All the books need to be read and read in order, none are stand-alone and the story continues through all of them.

Rating (Scale of 1-5) =
3.5 stars rounded up easily.

Blurb = 4.5 very clear about story type and m/m/m
My Genre Scale = 3 stars. Dystopian stories are fine, but definitely not my "go to" genre. As a whole I don't like relentlessly dark stories no matter the type. I read too escape, so I need a thread of hope and a HFN at least.
Odds if not your genre = 2 unless a slowburn m/m/m is "your thing".

Development of: =
*World = 4, background and history is a little sparse but enough. Where this author excelled was in the settings and world during the story. It is richly described and detailed. I never had a hard time visualizing the story or events.
*Characters = 4.5, The m/c's grow and develop as individuals and in their relationship. They are each so strong in their own way, but so flawed. Their strengths and weaknesses compliment each other. You can feel and believe they are truly together as 3 and have the ability to last.
*Plot = 3.5, this was solid but at times a little uneven for me, but never disrupted my flow or enjoyment. (FYI: Definitely dark but not unrelenting so, and maybe not as much in some areas as I expected.)

Warnings = violent scenes especially in the escape, off page rape, sexual abuse etc... PTSD, parental abuse and neglect,

HFN/HEA = Definitely, believably so, and once again more so than I expected.

Series Notes = Compiled for this bundle; complete series plus extras and bonus short.

Rating Notes = (SubPlots, thoughts, etc... )
I found the short story at the end about Pax super sweet and hot. It was also nice getting a glimpse of how the world was faring day to day.

I was pleasantly (though mildly) surprised by many aspects of this read. It exceeded my expectations which is always nice. There were some issues, but nothing that really hampered my enjoyment. Proofing was one. There were spots that required rereading or briefly snagged the flow due to typos and such. The race to New York felt slightly muddled.

One thing I found really interesting was the change in tone with the shifting POV's (which was always very clear). It felt like, even if it wasn't clear, I'd know which m/c I was seeing thing through based on how they viewed events or differences in internal thoughts. Each was very distinctive. Their background and experiences shaped beautifully how they were able to contribute to their survival and the relationship - it just fit.

I am really glad I took a chance and read this series.

***************
Below is my philosophy on reviewing!
***************
1. I try to take into account and note common pet peeves noted by other readers
2. "Brain candy' does not necessarily carry a negative connotation. (What is brain candy? Publishing industry 's version of pop music - Typically: formulaic, from a prolific author published often and quickly (like monthly), things escalate fast, and are often solved easily etc..) It has its uses: to pass time when tired, on the beach, etc... The problem comes when "brain candy" is unexpected or even disguised.
3. Why rate the blurbs? :
Like many readers, I do not like to think I'm reading one kind of story; just to end up with another. But...I also don't think a book should be docked stars for being as stated. If I don't like stories about "_________", and I choose to read it; I shouldn't give it 2 stars based JUST on my preferences. Unless... it wasn't clear in the blurb.
4. Other Factors that effect my perspective when reviewing:
Since 2009, I have exclusively read m/m. My 1st was in 2007. I am a Kindle diehard, and I never do audio for m/m. I read at least 100+ books a year - with an average length of 220± pages. My Goodreads lifetime rating (at the start of 2022) was a 3.60 average for 1715 books. Which considering, one should be better at picking out books the more one reads, I feel is an accurate average. I have over 800 reviews within the m/m genre here on Goodreads.
5. I'm really confused by reviews that consist of just 2 to 3 sentences - with no explanation or evidence. I'm even more baffled when it receives "likes". I'm unsure of how it is useful to others on whether or not to pick a book, for example: "It was a fun read". Umm okay... What made it fun? For that matter, what do you define as fun? Do not even get me started on people who have rated over a 1000 books with a 4.99 rating average. How is that helpful? And there's is absolutely no way that every book is above average great / 5 star read. Why even bother to rate books?
6. I am not a writer nor a wordsmith, but I am a passionate reader. I joined the m/m group years ago, but I mostly lurk. I like to ask questions, debate, and quite possibly play Devil's advocate - which is hard to do online, with unknown people - to whom you are also an unknown- and no body language is available to convey intent. Plus, true debates seems to be a lost art form where respect and even friendliness can be shown between those with fundamentally different opinions.

I don’t know why I waited or resisted this series. I LOVE Nora Phoenix’s books from her Ballsy Boys books with KM Neuhold, to her No Shame Series. But with this series, I don’t know how to put it, other than; the world building is beyond those of any author I’ve read. In any genre.
These books are action-packed! It grabbed me from the first scene and just dragged me along. It was like a gay DeWayne "The Rock" Johnson action flick. Just when I caught my breath, Nora would twist the screws and raise the pressure again. I couldn’t put the books down because I just had to see what would happen next. I binged all four books in two days (would’ve been less, but life got in the way).
I guess I resisted buying the books because I’m more into romance, and less into fighting to survive. Truthfully, the No Shame Series is pretty intense too, but I didn’t think this story would have the romance I was used to by her. BUT I was so wrong!
Even though this is a “dystopian” world with America breaking apart into three countries, camps to “reform” gays, and alien invasions, she makes it believable. Somehow, she makes the unrest of our current reality go further into the future where this could actually be the outcome. It’s not so ‘sci-fi-ish’ that it seems, well, sci-fi. Everything gave the impression this future is plausible.
The three main characters; Tan, Austin and Mack are very different people. Nora does a great job in bringing out their individuality. They each have a distinct voice and it’s easy to tell whose perspective you’re reading. They’ve each had unique experiences, thought processes and actions. She’s very consistent in keeping their personalities throughout the series. Sometimes, as books go on and characters fall in love, the author has a tendency to blend the couple (or throuple or quadruple) into similar characteristics. Not with these three (or the supporting cast).
Please, if you're unsure about purchasing Ignite, give this series a chance. It’s filled with action, adventure, romance, interesting characters, aliens, and superb storytelling.

5* Nora Phoenix is one of my favorite authors and normally an auto-buy. But... I absolutely hate aliens. I was traumatized by ET as a kid. And I don‘t really like dystopian stories. So I didn‘t read this series. When the box came out and I was on vacation and looking for something to read, Nora convinced me that the series is not very angsty (at least compared to her other series I love). And I absolutely loved it. Although there are heavy topics like rape or a dystopian society with concentration camps for LGBTQI people and an alien invasion... the on page violence is endurable imo. The love stories in the box are great. The development of their relationships slow but deep. And I think managed to reduce my alienphobia a bit

I'm using this space to review Pax's Story, the novella that follows the series since it doesn't have a listing of it's own.

I like the characters and their dynamic a lot, but the circumstances of the sex are insane.

Pax is so sore from riding, and they have a 10 day horse ride total and suddenly that's disappeared and then he has anal sex for the first time? I really wish this could have been a bit more drawn out, like they could have done everything except anal while traveling and then flash forward to them being home and having sex in a bed.

But very satisfying to see more of Pax since he's such a mystery in the series. And to learn more about Zangorian life!

Books this incredibly sweet and sappy don’t usually have so much violent death in them. I think I really struggled with the tonal shifts in this series. Emotionally the characters were on journeys of healing and discovery, while outside the aliens and government presented constant and unpredictable threats to any stability they gained. It was hard to believe they were all able to have such solid emotional growth in these circumstances. Also it was a little annoying how one of the characters was just like this innocent perfect emotionally intelligent born sexy yesterday neophyte who helped the other two completely cope with their respective traumas, while also being kinda loveable?

I loved it!

I'm not usually a big reader of sci/fi dystopian stories, however, this one captured my interest from the very beginning. Nora has woven a slow burn romance into a dangerous new world. The three main characters Mack, Tan and Austen all compliment one another so well. Their journey to love and safety is fraught with danger and past issues. The bonus chapters at the end were a delightful surprise.

Wow. Amazing

I’m not one for usually doing reviews. They, for me, are mainly a note to the author. So that’s what this is. I was skeptical as to if I would like this series or not. Well I was some what right. I didn’t like it. I Loved it! It was such an in-depth story. Wonderfully written. And just awesome. I must say I would love to see a follow up for the rest of Pax friends.

Austin, Tan and Mack..3 different men with different heartbreaking reasons for being in a gay reintegration camp who find they fit so perfectly together.
This was a slow burn romance that, after the first few chapters, I found I couldn't put down. I loved how the books and the characters flowed together easily and the HEA was spot on.
I loved the Pax novella as he and Tan were my faves
I brilliant and much recommended read

Love this series

This series is great! The love that Austin, Mack, and Tan have for each other is what they needed to help them survive so many trials. The thing about this series is that I can see so many of the same problems in today's society. While o loved this series it got me thinking and hoping that our world doesn't end up the same way.

This series was so good.

I was in a book slump. No book sounded good to me. I felt like all the potential books were too similar. Nothing unique. Then I saw this box set. I was intrigued. I'm so glad I took a chance. I loved this series. The world building. The uniqueness. The characters.

The rating is only for the bonus chapters of Burn (book 3) and the short story: PAX

I read the 3 books and the novella separately on KU but I still wanted to count the novella here. I'm only adding the audiobook edition to avoid having the number of pages doubled if the page count is one day added to the ebook edition of the box set.

Always awesome

This kind of genre has never really been my thing, but I've found that genre becomes irrelevant when it's by an awesome author I love. This whole series feels oddly topical to read during Russia's war in Ukraine, and there are some elements that are so relatable it's almost spooky, but it just goes to show how the reasons for war never really seem to change.

I love watching the characters fall in love, gain confidence from one another, but also develop and learn so much more about themselves. Austin believes believes he has to be strong and invincible for Tan, Tan has PTSD and has an awful self-image, and Mack is terrified of himself and revealing too much. Together they grow, and just so happen to fall in love in the process.

The dystopian world is so well built but incredibly heart breaking, as it almost seems like a horrible glimpse into a potential future. I struggled to put the book down, always scared what hit would come next.

Excellent series

Another example of Nora at her finest. This series is a slow burn, about surviving catastrophic events and making a new family. And then the is Pax, sweet Pax .it was wonderful to see him get his happy ending.

I can't say enough! Excellent!

I'm not usually much of a fan of Dystopian fiction, but I really like Nora Phoenix, so I got this book. I'm SO happy that I did. Pathos and love and strength. Sensual and sensitive. Amazing characters. This is a must read.

It's the best

If you love SciFi, lbtq+ stories and some spicy with a slow burn you're gonna love this. The characters are well made and easy to love. Loved every second of it.
