Do yourself a favor and check this series out! ★★★★★ Scott Blade is whom to read after you’ve read all the Lee Child books! ★★★★★ Widow is one guy you don’t mess with!
USA TODAY and AMAZON BESTSELLER - Scott Blade is a Nomadvelist, a drifter and author. He writes the bestselling Jack Widow book series, two of which reached the Top 100 list on Amazon, knocking Harry Potter & Jack Reacher off the top spots, which angered one of the big publishers. Scott wears that fact as a badge of honor.
Scott Blade isn't a traditional novelist who spends his time stuck behind a computer desk in some dreary office. He truly walks the walk. He drifts around like the nomad he writes about, touring the world, writing mysteries and searching for the perfect coffee.
A few random thoughts as I’m writing this at 3am - that was a hell of a lot of exclamation points. Seriously. Probably more exclamation points in this book alone than 20 other books I could pick at random. This series is slowly becoming trashy romance. And lastly, editing is getting sloppy; keep track of what your characters do and don’t have them repeat it a few minutes later as that just looks bad.
Fast paced., and exciting. Keeps you interested all throughout the book.
Scott is getting better with every book. The stories are different and makes you think about the injustices in the military and governments in the world. Proof reading could improve in a few places.
This is, as the title states, the 14th Jack Widow book I’ve read. Have I reviewed each of them? Probably not, but still I rate each of them at 5 Stars as they are simply that good.
Of course not everyone agrees with me, but that’s fine as reviews, like most things in life, are subjective in nature.
Read the author blurb. If it appeals to you then by all means read the book. You won’t be disappointed. I wasn’t.
Thank you Scott Blade for another great read. I’ll be joining Widow for coffee again soon.
It seems that the characterisation of Widow is getting diluted. I couldn't find the stubbornly confident Widow of earlier books. I felt the same about Reacher in Blue Moon.
Widow and Reacher are epitomes of One Man Army. They don't need any sidekicks. It's sad to say that Scott Blade made the same mistake that Lee Child made in Blue Moon.
The character of Agent Gray was totally unnecessary. It was, in fact, detrimental to the required seriousness and excitement.
I finally understand and figured out why it irritates me when Jack Widow has these so-called romantic entanglements with these women that he is partnered with basically because every book that he has the sexual relationships with is a woman that he is actually partnered with in the story, the reason why it annoys me is because they give no type of nothing to the story. It’s like a filler. It doesn’t help Widow in any kind of way. He’s still a drifter he still leaving. Nothing ever comes of it so why even take it there why can’t they just be partners without any type of sexual entanglement because it’s never gonna go anywhere and it doesn’t Enhance the story in anyway?.. it doesn’t develop Jack widow‘s character in anyway he still is the same person that he was in book one so why not just if you’re gonna have to have him have sexual encounters why not be like the chick that he helped and they had a brief little thing in Vegas and then she left Widow in the hotel and ghosted why not have them like that? Why bring in like these women are having feelings for him and their holding hands why even take something there that’s not developing your character in any type of way it’s just filler to me and I dislike it and that’s what irritates me and that’s why this book as well. Get three stars because this thing that he had with the NCIS agent ruined the story of the book. It had no place in the book at all!!!! it didn’t fit the with the plot of the book in anyway it was just thrown in there like a filler just something to throw in there just to throw in there. I hate when authors do that There was no reason for any of that in the plot at all. It did nothing that’s why every book that he doesn’t do this with and a have a regular relationship with a woman that he’s helping or that is helping him and it’s not sexual Are usually four and five star books in this series for me these ones with these women that he’s fucking just to be fucking and they’re just there and it just doesn’t make sense to me three stars
I’ve never read a Lee child book. The only other author that I have read with a similar type of thing is Greg Herwitz orphan X series so maybe I’m comparing in that Evan smoke did have a relationship with a woman, but it developed over the course of the series it fit the story it emotionally changed Evan in the way you seen growth with his character behind that relationship. Nothing like that is happening in Scott Blades books Widow is the same as he was in book one there’s no relationship that he’s had that his fundamentally changed who he is so I just feel like putting these mini sexual encounters. I’m not even calling them relationships because they’re written juvenile and they bring nothing to the story. I just have to vent about that Now I will continue the series because I do like Jack widow as a character, and I like the situations that he find himself in this is the only downfall that I have with this series and I won’t mention it in my future reviews. I just have to vent about it because I finally figured out why it was irritating me so bad
The author is back and so is our hero. This goes forward like all the other books in the series bar the last one.
This time he has a stop over in Washington DC. You get the sense he doesn’t like the place. Oh he likes how the services are memorialised, but everything else there is basically crap to him.
While there, he hears about a vet who was killed and pays his respects as a ‘brother’. However, what he hears doesn’t make sense and when he looks into it, he knows something else is going on.
He stops off and talks to his old boss and gets a partner for awhile. There are off to ask questions about murders current and in the past and putting the clues together. It takes them awhile, but eventually they work it out even after the case takes twists and turns.
It was interesting how the ending works out and I had never heard of what they do. I like when the story goes into areas I don’t see. I liked how our hero and his partner click as they go from one side to the other of the US and even beyond. I was worried about the reach of the bad guy too, but glad the author didn’t kick it to death either.
Another great read…. I guess the author had a bad apace of time or something with the last book.
He just happened to stop at DC when a homeless man has died. The police ruled as accident, but Widow disagreed. When he found out that he was also a fellow serviceman, he went to his wake, as he is obligated.
Widow found out that the homeless man was really rich. That seems odd to be rich and live on the street. He investigated and found he was killed. There is no accident.
He called in favor from his former boss and got a NCIS agent involved. They investiagated and soon someone is trying to harm them, the lawyer of the dead man and the PI who was hired to investigate were all at risk?
Who is behind this?
Not a bad story. Like Jack Reacher, drifter and vigilante seems to make interesting story. Some plot hole as the video feed lack Cloud backup. Other than that, it is pretty good and fast read.
This book is action packed from the get-go! A homeless vet is murdered and made to look like a horrific accident. Incidentally, Widow is in town killing time until his bus departs…and sees the article and notes that the vet has no relatives. The patriotic Widow attends the man’s wake and meets his estate attorney, who offers Widow a job to help look for the vet’s daughter. Widow declines but visits the crime scene and finds evidence that the vet was murdered. Widow is not one to let injustice slide…woe to the bad guys…as he fights for justice. Another great book!
If you want a book that is hard to put down, you found one. Widow finds himself in DC with a one way ticket yo Pittsburgh that will never get used. While waiting for the bus, he reads an article of a homeless man that burned himself to death. The man was an ex Navy Commander who left the service at the same rank as Widow. He decides to go to the wake and finds out the man was worth millions and has a daughter who can't be found. What gets him involved, though, is his belief that the homeless man was murdered and he can't let that go un-avenged. Another really good read.
If this book is not wining a price this year well no other should!! It was the best suspense-actions filled book I read on a very long time! Scott Blade have take a little more time to get it out but wow incredible how this book keep the reader on the edge until the very last page! The plot and the way the author is using his characters is truly. Masterpiece! Thanks so much the author for sharing his great talent and look forward for the next one!! Wooooww!!
For a reader who likes an ending with justice, romance and enticement to see what our anti hero will do next, Patriot Lies delivers. Traipsing across the country to solve a murder and a suicide, Widow follows the leads seeming those responsible are discovered with daunting peril everywhere. Fast paced. Intrigue and deception.
I really liked this one. The story about how Widow gets involved in what seems like a random death by a homeless person and the reason he involves himself in solving what really is a political crime. If you like the Reacher stories then this is something for you. Sadly the author had to reinvent this series but it is very well written.
Good fast moving thriller and storyline that has Widow getting involved in a murder case involving the death of a former colleague who he never served with. His involvement leads him back into the world of information gathering to right the wrongs of the past with the help of a rookie NCIS agent.
The crimes and bad behavior are over-the-top hyperbole taken as a whole in this singular epic - but the separate and discrete acts of cruelty are far too believable.
While the genre’s tropes are intact throughout, food for thought is also painlessly interjected throughout.
Incredible read. Very involved characters in tis installment. Widow with a new partner after tying to prove a suicide was actually murder. Tis being pulled by some powerful people. Widow ones back to his former boss to help. His new helper is new o the NCIS and she is awesome at her job. Read on for I can't put it down.
Another great read. Lots of action and I really enjoyed the events which led to Jack Widow revisiting Unit Ten. As usual it was hard to put the book down after I started to read it. Another well deserved five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am a regular reader of the widow novels and I always enjoy them. I especially liked this one because of the scene and character development. And the action was great as well. I could just see the view's he described in the novel they were great.
This book is a good Widow story. Widow again manages to find a hot babe and before they part, you know what happens. There is a fair amount of sleuthing as they get to the person behind the killing of Eggers. I found this story to be very engaging, keeping meat it to find how it unfolds. 5
This would be a great series if the author would pick up the pace (a lot!) I couldn't take the slow pace and lengthy descriptions of every street, Building and room. Needs to keep it moving.
Blade continues to weave intriguing stories that keep you interested from start to finish. The only improvement I could suggest is to hire a good editor: still too many typos and factual errors for writing of this quality. (Comes off like a first draft! )
Action-packed tale with twists and turns in it s unfolding. The characterisation of the villain is becoming rather predictable and should morph to different Avatars.
Story line felt like it was hurried up to much. unbelievable by the end. The sharp shooting with the bow and arrows, without any mention, ever, of Widow shooting one, seemed like the author was reaching out way too far
I always love that Widow can’t avoid getting into the thick of things! So many dead bodies in his path. Why doesn’t he just go back to NCIS? He is their best asset!
Scott blade's Jack widow books just keep getting better and better.the only downside is that I have to wait months for the next book. Keep on writing and write faster!
