Fira is a take-charge light-talent fairy, who never asks for help. So when all the fireflies come down with the firefly flu, who organizes light for Pixie Hollow? Fira. When three new light-talent fairies arrive on the same day, who volunteers to look after them? Fira. And when the mining-talent fairies set off on their monthly expedition into the underground caves, who lights the way? Fira, of course. But she's exhausted, and the deeper the miners go, the more her glow flickers and fades. Fira's full moon may turn out to be her darkest hour!

I LOVED this book when I was a kid! Wish I had read all of them back then... it won’t be the same now. I did still enjoy my reread, however! Obviously it’s childish and simple but I remember adding stuff to it with my imagination, as well as staring at the pictures for hours, and the nostalgia enhanced the first time I’ve read it since becoming an adult.
Fira is beautiful and talented, and I remember looking up to her so much! The plot is simple but pleasant, and again, as a kid I was enraptured by it! Definitely want to get the rest of the series and share it with my kids one day!
This book is one of my favorite books because it was about a fairy named Fira and she's a really hard worker. She's a light (glow) fairy that helps people in the dark. During full moons she lights paths to a cave. Three new fairies arrive and she has to teach them to work together as a team. Fira's light goes out when she needs to light the way for many people in a mine; then the three new fairies realized that they had to help their new friend and work together. I like this book beacause it shows a lot of teamwork and team effort. It also teaches about friendship and caring.
Listened to it as an audiobook.. & loves it.. especially since you don’t read much about fairies being born with siblings. I know that Tinker Bell has a sister but in the movies..
Don't get me wrong I loved Fira. I think it was everything else I didn't like. I don't remember liking this book too much as kid either so there's that.
For starters I don't think this should've been called Fira and the Full Moon with a cover (although it's very pretty) of fireflies. The fireflies and full moon played absolutely no role in the story. My question is where is Queen Clarion? Or like the light-talent fairies' equivalent Fairy Mary? I think it's Fira but still she is both literally and figuratively burnt out. Also, if Fira can light up the whole Home Tree why didn't she light up Pixie Hollow while every other light-talent fairy helped out the mining-talent fairies? And the mining-talent fairies omg. Could they not have waited like a week? Why was it so important to mine under a full moon when light doesn't even reach the cavern? They didn't even end up mining anyways and Fira had to babysit triplets, worry about firefly-flu, and the mining expedition...Fira it's ok to say no. And why was only Elixa worried about the fireflies if they're so integral to light? 😔
I loved these books when I was little, and decided to collect the books missing from my collection to pass on to my daughter. I read this aloud to her as she fell asleep each night and though it’s simple and meant for young readers, I still loved the sweet magic in the story and the illustration will always have a special place in my heart. This was my first read of this book, and I was pleasantly surprised by the vocabulary used. Could definitely be helpful for young readers to learn new vocabulary words. ☺️
I love the cover for this one! I love the light-fairy stories because of the play on light and dark. Makes for pretty illustrations and imagery throughout the story. The lightning bug lamps, the full moon, the bright fairy dust, and all the fun glitter and lighty things!
Fira's such a pretty character, too, and definitely one I relate to. Her grit and determination to get work done, her organization and servant's heart. And definitely her struggle with boundaries and saying no and prioritizing rest! I love how these fairies each grow and learn such relatable lessons. They deal with real issues, but the stories illustrate them in approachable ways. They make great lessons to subtly introduce kids to for sure.
This story follows Fira as she organizes and leads the charge for the light fairies to light Pixie Hollow when the fireflies fall ill. It's an extra demanding job and all the light fairies are pulling double duty to serve their fellow fairies. But then on top of the ordeal, Fira takes on three brand new protégées that are quite rambunctious, as kiddos tend to be. And last but not least, the miner talents are depending on the light fairies to do their very important job on the one night of the month they do their special task: the night of the full moon.
Fira has to learn when she's taken on enough and the value of resting. She struggles with others needing her and feeling the urge to fulfill those needs all the time, regardless of her own health. Not only does she walk through admitting her limits to herself, but to others as well.
A fun story of disastrous mishaps, problem solving, and learning that the world doesn't rest solely on our shoulders, with a thread of learning to listen and obey and having courage, too.
Although the title of the book might seem slightly ominous, the book is simply another very good book in this very good series from Disney.
Fira is a light talent fairy in charge of others and a severe problem arises when the lightning bugs become ill and are no longer able to help light Pixie Hollow. She and the other light-talent fairies will have to work extra-hard to fill in for them.
While this is going on, three new fairies arrive and Fira is put in charge of them. Unfortunately, the three tend to argue all the time and cause a lot of problems.
Worse yet, the mining fairies need light for the mines and since the lightning bugs are ill, Fira will have to provide the light herself. She doesn't mind doing this, although she's already very tired, but then her light fails and everyone is literally left in the dark.
Can the new fairies, despite their quarreling and clumsiness, help Fira and the miners trapped in the darkness of the mine?
This really shouldn't be called Fira and the full moon. It barely even mentions the full moon. Maybe Fira and the New Fairies. Or Fira the over worked fairy.
Anyway, Fira has been very busy and that was before the fireflies caught the flu. So when three new light talent fairies are born, she is so happy to have more help. Unfortunately, they are a lot of trouble. Well, they are brand new and all. They manage to make Fira even more exhausted.
Then she realizes there will be no fireflies to help the mine talent fairies on the full moon so she goes to help them too. Only in her exhaustion her light goes out! Now they are stuck in a windy cave in the dark. How will they ever get out?
You can probably guess how, but it is very cute nonetheless.
Another cute fairy story, this time focusing on Fira, or Moth, the brightest light-talent fairy in Pixie Hollow. Or at least, she is usually, but unfortunately, she's stuck constantly working and then has to deal with three new, rambunctious fairies as well. This story teaches kids it's okay to ask for help when you're feeling overwhelmed, and sleep is very important to revitalize your spirits and energy. Very cute and heartwarming, as per Disney fairy tradition.
Fira learns to ask for help and rely on others as well as herself in this tale from Pixie Hollow. The writing is solid and the characters seem real (as real as fairies can be). Early readers should enjoy it.
I feel like this so far is one one of the better ones even though I ended up predicting the ending. The surprise of the 'laugh' was a nice touch. Three new light fairies at once! If I decide to continue with the series I would like to see these characters in other books.
rereading the series as an adult so take this review lightly but i wanted to fling the triplets into the sun, i was so annoyed to the last page. solid art though. the fairy infrastructure still sucks like our own too? smh
this one was rly cute. i liked the whole “arrival day” thing w the triplets, and it seemed like they ended up with 3 light-talent newbies bc the island recognized a need for them at that time? not sure if that’s what was going on, but that’s what it seemed like.
i wish they built up fira’s personality a bit more. the triplets had more personality than her and i don’t even think they’re recurring characters. all i got from her is hard-working overachiever and nickname, i wish there was more to her. and considering this book is named after her, and is the ONLY book about her (maybe??) you’d think it’d be more about HER and not the triplets
like tink, rani, vidia, and prilla all have backstories and faults and struggles. even lily has more personality than her, this book was all plot. i guess ill see if they round her out more in other stories
When I saw this book I was so exited it is a little bit hard to find this books now. Anyways, it didn’t let me down. I love this book series I wish they could do more of this. The stories are well written and the art is beautiful. This books are the reason I want to be a kid again xD. Fira is a fairy who doesn’t like to be helped, she thinks she can do all by herself. That is a problem that a lot of us have, but we all always need a little bit of help from someone. The book teach us that.🌟⭐️💫✨☀️☀️🌙🌙
This was so good, Fira is one of my favorite fairies and she really shined in this story. The triples were interesting and very funny. They meant good, however they were always getting into something. Fira took on so much and needed to learn how be apart of a team to help her out. It was a simple and fun read, very enjoyable.
I didn’t care for this one as much in the series (didn’t help that I may have dozed off while listening to the audio). The conflict wasn’t as engaging, and the suddenly introduced triplet fairies were annoying and felt a bit pointless. Again, maybe missed something because my attention kept drifting.
I don’t think you guys understand how much pixie hollow books slap. They literally have a character for every type of person so it makes it a really relatable story (minus the wings and the magic ofc).
Fira get teamed up with 3 light talent fairies. Who seem to be just a lil bit accident prone to everywhere they go. Trouble seems to follow until one night when they do come in handy. This book is awesome.
I love Disney Fairies. But I have to say, this one was the best...
This tale was as fun and chaotic as it could be. Poor Fira, not only getting overworked by a very important night to the light-talents, but also by having to teach three new fairies how to work from scratch?? Nah, I’d crash sooner.
It is a rough lesson to learn that you can't do everything alone - even the strongest light fairy might need to ask for help everyone once in a while! Super cute read.
