Imagine: What America Could Be in the 21st Century

Rate this book
Essays by Sarah Ban Breathnach, Deepak Chopra, Anne Lamott, Thomas Moore, James Redfield, Gloria Steinem, Neale Donald Walsch, Gary Zukav, and many others.

The most contemporary thinkers in the country unite in Imagine to inspire individuals to take positive action right now to impact their future. Each of these gifted minds offers an original essay on what America could—and should—be like as the new century unfolds.

Imagine is divided into two sections, one shows readers how to change their personal lives; the other challenges them to change the world. The authors address such specific topics as health, the environment, education, religion, the inner city, politics and technology, in the hope that their words will inspire positive cultural transformation all across the country. To promote that vision, all author royalties will go to the nonprofit Global Renaissance Alliance, an organization that encourages social awareness, political activism, and spiritual power.

I read this book in 2001 and it was mind expanding. It's a collection of essays by some of the forward thinkers of our time...it is one of those pick up for ten minutes books... read one essay and walk away fulfilled for the next three days or more.
I recall signing on and taking an ecourse as a followup that made the read even more valuable.

The cover says: "Visions of a better future from leading American Thinkers." This way I picked up the book to read it. How can I make America a better place for those that live here tomorrow?

Each Chapter is written by a different person on topics to answer the questions on how to make America a better place.

This book is written so that you can pick it up and read one chapter at a time or read it cover-to-cover. Along with the inspiring words are beautiful color photos.

This book was very inspirational, containing a lot of great ideas for the future! It's something that takes time to read and think about. Some sections were great, while some sections were odd. I'm looking forward to see what happens in the future, hopefully some of the sections of this book come true.

Marianne Williamson engaged a collection of "deep" and "forward" thinkers to give their vision of the United States in 2050. Think a Nation viewing itself as one community working for the collective good and spiritually in touch with itself.

Just read the section “Transformation” by Vicki Robin, in the “ReWoven Fabric” chapter. What a beautiful vision of what life could be.
