Here is the revealing underground classic, a work that stands beside the "Seth" books as a delightful and invaluable guide to our inner spirit and our outer world. Emmanuel speaks to us through Pat Rodegast and shares his wisdom and insights on all aspects of life. Beautifully written and illustrated, Emmanuel's Book I is to be treasured, enjoyed and passed on to a friend. Emmanuel says: "The gifts I wish to give you are my deepest love, the safety of truth, the wisdom of the universe and the reality of God . . . . The issue of whether there is a Greater Reality or not, for me at least, has been settled. I know that there is. So I will speak to you from the knowing that I possess."
Ram Dass, in the introduction, says: "Being with Emmanuel one comes to appreciate the vast evolutionary context in which our lives are being lived . . . And at each moment we are at just the right place in the journey. As Emmanuel points out, 'Who you are is a necessary step to being who you will be.'"
No matter who or what you believe Emmanuel is, it's irrelevant. You don't need to have a certain religion to understand or appreciate it, and Emmanuel doesn't say anything to offend any religion. In fact, Emmanuel's Book affirms all the truths that other religions state, but without the dogma, politics or prejudice. This book is my bible, the one I keep on my nightstand and can always count on to give me peace, guidance and confidence.
Emmanuel, the eternally optimistic spirit channeled by Pat Rodegast, who debuts in this now-classic metaphysical title, Emmanuel's Book, makes his purpose clear: To remind humanity of what they truly are. And while this book will undoubtedly appeal to lovers of the metaphysical with little effort, I dare say it's not without its charms for even the more skeptical among us.
The message of Emmanuel is akin to that of all the popular religious philosophies of the world: Human beings are here to love and anything that we do towards that effort is progress. However, Emmanuel takes it one step further: We're not only here to love. We are love incarnate.
Now, how does that fare against the popular concept of the eternal struggle of good vs. evil? Well, according to Emmanuel, the whole concept of benevolent and malevolent forces that act against each other are simply part of the human construct; an imaginary game much like the world itself that we have `created'. The strife, the drama, the fear, the danger that we perceive life to be is all an illusion, Emmanuel says. Even death itself, is an illusion.
"Does it hurt to die?" One of the questioners asks Emmanuel, who responds, "It is absolutely safe" and "like taking off a shoe that is too tight."
With sentiments like that, spoken in the eerie, light-hearted calm of Emmanuel, how could any reader, even while not believing the hype, not find his viewpoint at least fascinating?
While immersed in the world of Emmanuel, it is very easy to think, just for a moment, that even within this world of uncertainty, sickness and cruelty, that perhaps things are not as dismal as they seem. We might possibly imagine that, after all is said and done, we will emerge from this 'experience' completely intact.
But, close the book and the demands of life pull us right back in. Our annoyances and fears become real once more. Money becomes tight again. People get sick and die. But, let's face it, whether you subscribe to Emmanuel's infinitely optimistic point of view or not, for a moment at least, Emmanuel makes us feel like everything's gonna be alright.
I'm almost done--and have enjoyed it. I'm not sure what I believe about channeled personalities--and really, I guess it doesn't matter. What I have found is that there are some lovely and encouraging insights in the book--which is just what I need right now, and it's beside the point "where" they came from!
I absolutely loved this book when I read it more than 25 years ago. As I said about Illusions by Richard Bach, this book was very useful during a time in my life when I was looking for answers and didn't know where to start.
I'm not hot into reincarnation or Ram Dass or traditional religion, but a friend gave me this little and very readable book of reflections when I was very ill. It honestly made me feel safe and sound in the universe. I think anyone facing their own frailty would find this book a warm comforter in the coldness that can be life. Some of my favorite quotes: "Your mind cannot possible understand God. Your heart already knows." A prayer for all: "Rest yourself in the reality of God's eternal and everlasing presence, and know that there are plans deeper, there is unconsciousness wiser, loving hearts far more powerful than any that walk your earth, I bless you with the awareness of your eternal safety." Ahmen.
I usually dislike channeled books, I also love Ram Dass (who wrote the intro) so I am biased in both directions on this one. I found Emmanuel's voice to be similar to Rammy D's and I loved that aspect. On the other hand, I didn't feel myself as charged up/motivated by Emmanuel as I did in Be Here Now or Gristle for the mill.
I didn't find the channeling thing too important here (where it usually is a major turn off). I am not sure if it was truly channeled but it doesn't seem important as the content seems worthwhile either way.
Wow. This is such a beautiful and eloquently written book. The format feels as if you are reading poetry. The warmth and wisdom just pours out. I can only read a few passages before setting the book down and meditating on what was just read. I read A LOT of books too. This rarely happens. It's always the most impactful and powerful books that are like this.
It feels as if the words are loaded with energy that hits deep within your soul. It speaks directly to your heart and spirit. Reminds us to take a fresh perspective and to remember who we are. It allows us to see clearly among the forest. We get so lost in the world and the abundance of information. We forget how deep the deception is. This book is nourishment for the soul. I'm buying a copy to keep and reference. I rarely do that!
What a blessing to receive this book. It seems it has come in just the right time as I've been seeking answers and feeling so confused. The emptiness is connected to forgetting the ancient truth that we are Eternal. That God is in all things. There is no separation, only the illusion of this. It is done so we can learn, grow, and experience. This book will stir you. It reminds us that we have all we need. The task is to remember and make the choice. We are all free to choose. Nothing is forced upon us. This is the magic of life. Everything is connected. Nothing is lost. All has purpose and place. There is a Wisdom that goes far beyond what our minds can comprehend. Only the heart can know this. The mind is the servant of the heart, not the other way. Remember...
I can’t claim that I understood everything, but a lot stuck true. Emannuel’s revelations are beyond anything that was ever taught to me, but it is in line with a lot of what I often feel is the truth. “For those who have forgotten”, as he says. As for the style of the book, it is poetic and easy to read. In many ways, it reminded me of Gibran’s The Prophet.
This book found me when I was 22 working far from home. It was so different yet right. Many years later I still have all the Emmanuel Books, yellowed and torn, underlined. My first adventure into channeling and truth seeking. Bless Pat for bringing me Emmanuel and to Mary for putting the book in my hands.
Al fin y al cabo, tampoco se está tan mal aquí. ¿No habéis venido a ver la hermosura y la fealdad, el amor y el odio, la luz y la oscuridad? No intentéis escapar. Vuestro cometido es transformalo, no evitarlo.
It took me a bit to get into this book, as it is written in a, to me, singsong type manner. Way differently than the Seth Books, but as I progressed, I found I wanted to keep reading it. No huge new take aways, but confirmation of other things I have read.
I love the message, believe in the message, so I am all over that, but for me, this book was written in a manner that I did not find that accessible, but I can see why some people would love this book, and if you like the style, I think it will really work for you.
What is there to say about this book that hasn't already been said?
This book will speak to your very soul. That tiny light in you that knows you ARE perfect. That knows everything will be alright. That knows YOU ARE LOVING AWARENESS.
This is a book I have revisited many times. It is full of wisdom, compassion and gentle humour. It gives spiritual refreshment at the same time challenging common predjudices. It certainly made me think about my own predjudices and perceptions. Well worth exploring this gem of a book.
This was very positive, very simple, very soul cleansing, and I read it at the perfect time in my life. Great lessons and reminders in living in the Light.
