Journeys

Rate this book
Caren Rivers never really considered the busy lives of the drivers who passed through her toll booth. Some she encountered frequently, daily, as they moved from place to place along their journey. Others, she doubted she’d ever see again.

She’d always wondered what made them chose one route over another. Was the obvious choice to engage the shortest line or was it the interaction with a familiar face? Is the journey of a life simply a multitude of potential pathways affected by points of intersection?

What was her journey going to be now that her husband and son were gone? These were the questions that kept her awake at night. Journeys is the story of nine travelers making their way along life’s roadway and how these lives once connected, remain a part of one another for all time.

Dear Readers, I do not know where to start with this lovely book without giving you possible spoilers.

I was intrigued by the premise and was drawn in by each character who crossed Caren's tollbooth path. I definitely had a few favourites and felt a richness within their stories which stayed with me after I finished the last pages.

I am just going to touch on the plot twist(s) and how with this story I was completely taken aback by what happened towards and at the end of the book. I was both shocked and put at ease by the ending. (IT IS SO HARD TO EXPLAIN!). Like I said, it is so difficult to not spoil anything for you literary lovelies if I go into further detail. So just go buy the book and lets discuss it as I need someone to weigh in with their thoughts ASAP!

I desperately want someone to discus this book with and their thoughts on the premise, the subject matter, on THE END! I would love to have coffee with the author Lisa Colodny and just pick her brain for those bits you know somehow got edited out. I want to read the original manuscript!

So if you are looking for characters who you will want to take care of and befriend instantly upon introduction, a premise which is what makes me love multiple POV stories and an ending which will have you gasping out loud, this story is for you.

An interesting take on parallel lives from the toll booth operator’s life. You should try it.
