Labels can set us up for success for failure. I hate them, always have. There is a reason for mine. I dream of that reason morning, noon, and night.
Egocentric. Greedy. Cruel. Self-Loathing.
Labels shape the lonely woman that I am. I hate the person that I’ve allowed myself to become. I’ve hurt the only person that I have ever loved. I dream of him every single night when I close my eyes.
Labels are worn like a badge, either in honor or horror. They do not define me. I am judged by them anyway.
Hayley Faiman was born and raised in the Central Valley of California. She and her husband met when they were still in High School. They were married a few years later. They lived in Oregon while her husband was in the US Coast Guard. After living in Hill Country, Texas, for eight years and three years in East Texas, they now call North Carolina home and spend their time with their two teenage sons at all their events, screaming from the stands as they swim their hearts out!
This is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I HATED Stephanie with an unbridled passion. Girl could not make up her mind, maze the worst decisions, kept Ford on her yo-yo string for DECADES, and was just so unlikable. I didn't find one redeeming quality about her, which made it hard for me to connect with the book.
The highlight for me was Ford. He has loved Stephanie his entire life, and that love has never wavered -- even when she broke his heart in the worst, public of ways. Some twists of events has been face to face again after so many years apart, and Ford tries his best to get the love of his life to see that he could make all her dreams come true, that he would move heaven and earth to make her happy.. all she has to do is love him back.
As much as I loved Ford, I really wanted him to realize that he deserves so much better. It annoyed me to know end how Stephanie would dangle a hope of their hea, and even rip it away from her every time she was done screwing him. Through most of the book I was hoping that he would get his happy ever after without her, but they do get their crap sorted out at the end. It just was so drug out and a bumpy road to get there.
Overall I didn't hate this book, but I didn't particularly like it either.
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions.**
Second chance. Heroine leaves him at the altar when they are very young. She doesn't explain beforehand her dreams or doubts, just leaves no explanation. During separation both are with others. Hero seems willing to make another go or it at times then talks about not so felt he gave mixed signals to the reader. Links to authors mafia series. No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine. No cheating. Neither with anyone else after reconnecting though he considers being set up by his friends to finally move on from her. Pushing away by heroine, felt a bit yo-yo. HEA. Epilogue for whole series.
I couldn’t connect with Stephanie and I thought her reason for leaving Ford was ridiculous and out of left field. In the beginning when she asks him if he wants to leave his ranch, she should have told him about her aspirations to become famous. So when it was revealed that she was an actress I had to roll my eyes and laugh. There was too much back and forth between the two of them and the whole bratva plot point was odd too. I wanted to enjoy this book but I just didn’t like the heroine and her selfishness just rubbed me the wrong way.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I feel a little bad for saying this but I kind of wish I had stopped after I read the first two books. Not that I didn't like the last three but I adored Wyatt and Rylan and their books were great. Then I didn't really like Beau's and I was looking forward to Ford's and it just kind of missed the mark for me.
I had a feeling that Ford's heroine was going to be Stephanie. We had gotten a bit of their history through all of the books, but I didn't really know the details. And everything I knew of Ford throughout those books I wanted him to have epic. Then we got to his book and I loved him even more and I was even more sure he deserved epic.
Stephanie just wasn't epic enough for Ford for me. Her actions from their initial relationship were selfish and I probably could have forgiven her that because of her age. But then she was so hot and cold, and I just found her so annoying. I wanted her to fight for Ford and be all in, but I didn't get that from her.
The epilogue with all of the crew and their kids was cute and a nice ending. And I was glad to see how happy Stephanie and Ford were. The drama was good, and the book was well written, and I might read more of the author's books in the future if I find my big girl panties again.
Ford (Cowboy) and Stephanie’s journey was one of pain and anguish. The loneliness and heartache come from chasing dreams and leaving loved ones behind.
Mistakes are made.
Hearts are broken.
Closure is needed.
It’s time to finally move on.
Do dreams really come true?
I highly recommend you read and find out. You will not be disappointed! Great Job Hayley!!
First off we have to say how much we really love this author and she is definitely one of those authors that we look forward to each and every release.
We absolutely loved this story it was filled with a ton of heart and emotion and as always the story was filled with amazing characters that you can't help but love.
I have so been waiting for Ford's story and other than being a man whore the man was a dream come true in every other aspect. We loved that he had a dominant nature, was a loyal friend and companion, was loving and caring, and just an all-around nice guy.
Ford is at a point in his life that he wants what all his fellow friends/brothers all have families and the love of their life. Stephaine is his past fiance and the one that got away and she still haunts the man's dreams and heart and he has never been able to move on as she still holds his heart.
Ford and Stephanie grew up together and were so in love but, Stephaine had big dreams to be something more, and in order to do that she left the man who held her heart at the altar without word or explanation.
This story was really an emotional one because you would love to have hated Stephanie and what she did to Ford but, you also understood that she wanted more out of life than what Ford would have been able to give her but, as the years pass and meeting Ford once again she is regretting how much she really sacrificed in order to achieve fame and fortune because she really sacrificed things that mattered to being truly happy.
This couple no matter how long were apart still have amazing chemistry and spark. Their love affair was super hot! The story had tons of sexy scenes and a lot of heart.
I really loved being on Fords and Stephanie's journey it was filled with ups and downs and what seemed yet another betrayal but, sinner parties are out to destroy their second chance at happiness once again but, Stephaine has an unlikely ally now and all is not lost just yet. Omg! Stephanie has caught the interest of a very dangerous man!
Overall a fantastic read that kept us glued to the pages the entire time. The story had a bit of suspense and a few surprises and we just loved that but, most of all you just felt all the love that this couple had between them and around them. The story tugged at one's heartstrings and I even choked up a time or two. The ending was perfection! And we loved that an outside source had a hand in their happiness that was the best surprise of all!
I am unsure as to why I have never read anything by Hayley Faiman before. But what an introduction Cowboy was to her books. This book has to be one of the best second chance at love romance novels I have read in quite some time. As the story went on and with all the twists and turns, Ford and Stephanie’s story is definitely not for the faint of heart. There was a massive twist at the end of the story that literally made my heart stop. I didn’t know if I wanted to keep on reading because it was just that confronting to me. But I was so thankful that I did because the epilogues were simply outstanding. Hayley is now firmly on my radar and I will certainly be reading more from her in the future. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
So sad to see this series come to an end. But it went out with a bang. I've been wanting Ford's story since we met him and it was so good! Ford was everything I knew he would be and so much more. I found Stephanie (Stevie) to have been selfish. I'm not gonna go on about how much I didn't like her because she knew she was wrong. I got that she had dreams bigger than Gallup. I just think she could have handled the situation better. Still I was rooting for these characters to get their HEA. Not many guys long to have a wife and kids but Ford wanted what all his friends had. A good woman, kids and happiness. These two had some hurdles to go over to get to their HEA but it was well worth it. That epilogue was everything. 💜
I only recently discovered Hayley Faiman and I am quickly becoming a fan. In Cowboy, we get an emotional and touching second chance romance with so many feels. Ford and Stephanie were deeply in love and had dreams of what they wanted for their future when they were young. But what happens when that future entails different things for each of them? Stephanie left and broke both their hearts. Years later she is back and you can feel the love between them, but was it too late? Their journey was not an easy one and was poignant and full of angst. Can they find their way back to each other? I was captivated from start to finish.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog. Happy reading!
Thoughts: I hate to say this but I just could not find it in me to like Stephanie. I hated how she was. She left with no explanation for selfish reasons. Then refused to come clean or even talk to anyone for 20 years. Then when she loses her mom, she moves her dad and spends practically zero time with him. I just did not like her. I couldn't get over that. I wish he would've gone for someone else.
From the very start the Unfit Hero series has been full of unforgettable characters amidst a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Moments of steam have been balanced with the pulling of heartstrings, along with a few chuckles along the way, courtesy of a colorful and close-knit group of friends who have become more like family. The ride ends with this latest release though, brings everyone full circle in a romance of second chances and the high price of fame, and it held me captive from the very first page to the last.
Ford Matthews has loved Stephanie since they were children, planned his life around a future with her by his side. On the day of their wedding though she ran, turning her back on the dreams he had to find something more for herself. It was an emotional blow to him, made him feel as though he and his love weren't enough for her. For 17 years he's felt that festering wound and now longs for closure. Seeing her again unfortunately presents anything but closure as long-held affections rise up to put them back in each other's arms. Issues from the past, hurt feelings, and danger from her ex all conspire to make their reunion a rocky one full of angst and uncertainties that had me frantically turning the pages. Ford's a likable hero with a heart of gold. He's strong and sexy and, despite his anger, always has Stephanie's back. He's a true gentleman, supportive of Stephanie but never controlling, and she's a lucky woman to be loved by him. Their reunion turned steamy very quickly, showed him to be all man in interludes that were bdsm lite, but also allowed for heartfelt talks about their past that helped guide them to their future.
Stephanie (aka Sterling LaRue...America's Moviestar Sweetheart) became the Runaway Bride 17 years ago, leaving behind her small town and childhood love. It was a heartbreaking decision but one that had to be made so that no resentment would weigh on their love. It's been lonely all these years though, never knowing who to trust as money and fame rule all. The luster of fame is starting to dim for her as this story starts, a feeling of being unsatisfied, and it's this feeling that follows her home. Finding out that Ford is still available changes everything, has her rethinking her life and what she wants out of it. Her return has them dealing head-on with past hurts, has them being brutally honest about their desires in a journey full of twists and turns. Stephanie's an appealing heroine full of self-loathing for her long-ago decision and guilt-ridden for all that's befallen Ford throughout the years. She was young though and needed to spread her wings, needed to learn what was truly important before settling down so I never faulted her for that. Her concern over her duplicitous ex Sebastian though...that is her fault and her actions frustrated me as he wreaked havoc in her life through his over the top machinations. Despite a frustration or two I enjoyed her and Ford together. They balanced each other out nicely and scorched up the pages whenever they were together.
On a whole this was a satisfying end to Ms. Faiman's series of imperfect characters finding their perfect HEAs. The main couple was strong-willed as individuals, but more formidable when together in a scorching and sentimental tale with a bit of suspense late in the book. The issues between them were realistic and addressed in a believable manner that had me fully invested in their journey to HEA. Surrounding this compelling couple was an equally entertaining cast of secondary characters, ones readers have seen in past books and it made for an enjoyable update that tied a bow around this series-ender. Two secondary characters in particular captured my attention...Stephanie's assistant Daimon and Russian Mafia King Kirill...due to their larger than life personalities. I'd love to see a story dedicated to Daimon as he's a fun and flirty friend while I look forward to adding Kirill's already written book to my shelf as he's a definite temptation. Readers who enjoy steamy, second chance romances full of heart and soul will want to add this book to their to be read mountains as it's one that kept me glued to the pages...and it will do the same to you!
This was my first novel by Hayley Faiman, and I'm afraid I didn't like it as much as I could have if I had read some of the other books beforehand. This is supposed to be a standalone novel, but other characters in the series play some dominant roles. There is also a lot of crossover to a previous series that I wasn't expecting and it muddled the storyline a bit for me...
Cowboy is a second chance romance between Ford and Stephanie. They have know each other their entire lives, lived in a small town, and grew from friends to lovers at a very young age. They planned to get married right after high school graduation, but Stephanie gets the coldest feet ever and decides to chase a different dream. She leaves Ford at the altar without an explaination and runs off to Hollywood to become an actress.
I really liked Ford's character. What's not to like about a sexy cowboy working hard on the farm?? 😍😍 "Why would you go back, what would you change?" "I would keep you, Stephanie. I would chase your sweet a** down. I would keep you for myself, however that looked, I would figure it out, and I would keep you."
I had a lot of issues with Stephanie's character... mainly the fact that her answer to everything is to run away... She can't ever face her problems and actually talk things through. Also, even when she makes a decision to do the right thing, she immediately changes her mind. Every. Single. Time. It drove me crazy... despite all of that, she does seem to really care about Ford, and no matter how many times she runs away, he never gives up on her.
I did like several of the side characters, though, mainly Rylan and Wyatt. 😍😍 "Sometimes the journey to get to where you want to is f***ing rough, but you won't regret it, not a single f***ing second of it. Staying in limbo, missing out on what could be, that's something to regret."
If I had already read some of the other books, I may have had a different opinion about this one... I definitely wouldn't recommend starting with this book, though.
Having read the previous books in this series, I couldn’t wait to finally get to Ford’s story. And this was a perfect grand finale to the series, with a perfect epilogue. And, giant bonus alert!!! We get a cameo from Kirill, the Bratva boss!!! If you read that series, you’ll love seeing him here. If you haven’t, you totally should go and read that series!!
Ford was a major player, loved rough sex, and had been done wrong by his HS sweetheart. Well, surprise!! The girl is back in town. I didn’t know what to think of Stephanie. She seemed wishy-washy, and like she was stringing him along. Flighty as hell. But then I stopped to think of it and realized that her reactions to things were actually normal, human. When she had left Ford, she was only seventeen years old. She hadn’t had the courage to tell him that she wanted more out of life, she had big dreams. And I could relate to that. I would’ve run scared too. Now she’s back, seventeen years later, and she knows she still loves him. But, again, it’s hard for her to make the final decision of leaving her new life behind to be with him. Plus, she had some drama happening with her former fiancée who turned out to be a major douchebag. I could relate to that too!!! I’d be driving a man crazy with my going back and forth!!! I did love Ford for calling her out on it and leaving her alone to make her decisions with no pressure. He left the ball in her court and hoped for the best.
If there is one thing that drove me crazy with this book, and I’d shave like a twelfth of a star for it, it’d be the fact that there was a lot of whispering happening. Steph seemed to be whispering the most, but the other ones took turns as well.
Stephanie LaRue has gone home to face her past. Ford Matthews is feeling lost and not knowing what to do. It’s a sad beginning. It’s a beginning of two lonely people and there may be some people out there who know those feelings personally. You may be around people all the time and can still be lonely.
Some people may like big city life or even that of a big town. Stephanie shows the reader what’s good, and bad, about a small one. Ford shows the reader the fun side of family. The biggest part of this story is getting a second chance. Who knew that second chances could be so hot – thank goodness for a/c.
Our main characters have several interactions where you might say “that’s so true” and that’s just one reason why this seems so realistic. Our author is an artist and her words are her paint brush. You will have no trouble picturing every scene as it plays out. She will also having us feeling sorry for Stephanie and Ford. And that’s just one more reason why this seems so realistic. If the reader doesn’t feel invested in the storyline, why would they want to go back for more. And this author has the right combination so that you will always want to go in for more. Ms. Faiman will give you the smile and tear moment that is also part of that combination and have you wanting to know what’s coming next.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
So excited to finally get Ford’s story! After all his friends found love, Ford is still single than ever and is still hung up on the girl that walked away from him almost two decades ago. Stephanie had bigger dreams than the small town she grew up in, and (in my opinion) instead of having a real conversation with Ford before their wedding, ended up leaving him at the altar in the worst way. Never returning to town, she focused on following her dreams and seeing the world, and almost twenty years later after she had seen it all, she realized that she wasn’t happy and LA wasn’t home. When her father dies and she finds out he never sold her childhood home, she is forced to travel back to the town she left and the people she abandoned to tie up loose ends. The back and forth between Ford and Stephanie is crazy – not to mention throwing in her crazy ex-boyfriend. I went between wanting to punch the couple for them to come to their senses while also being deeply invested in what is going on with Stephanie and her ex-boyfriend. To say the ending was a shock was an understatement – I didn’t see it coming with what her ex was planning to do, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of Stephanie continuing to go back and forth with Ford. Thankfully, they got their HEA and things ended up how they should’ve been. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
If there was one series by Hayley Faiman you have to read it is the Unfit Hero series from start till the end you will fall for her men. Through every previous book in this series we saw a little of Ford and boy was he worth the wait. Here is a simple, country guy who just wants someone to love him and a family to come home to. Then we have a girl who had it all but gave it all up for Hollywood and fame. Two people who seem opposite yet actually are the same deep down. Stephanie is the only woman Ford has ever loved and though he tries no other woman can compare to her. The thing is Stephanie is meant for more and bigger things than just farming and ranching. We see two people who knew each other so reconnect as strangers trying to find their way back. Hayley Faiman just moved me by how strong and sexy Ford can be in this book fighting for what has always been his no matter how much Stephanie denies it. Their love is something that has not fizzled only growing stronger. They say time apart can bring love stronger and boy do we see it in Ford and Stephanies story. Loved it and kind of sad this series is gone but in a sweet way we see everybody's happily ever after. Loved it.
"I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own."
Cowboy (Unfit Hero #5) by Hayley Faiman was a great 5 star readl I was pulled in right from the beginning with Stephanie wondering what else could be out there and the hard decision that she made.
We jump ahead 17 years, Stephanie has returned to take care of her family affairs now that her parents are gone. She has done very well for herself, coming back to town floods her with several memories, especially memories of Ford.
Ford has never found another woman after Stephanie left town. The right one has never come along. With all his friends starting families he’s feeling lonelier. When an unexpected guest is invited to the friends BBQ, things take a very interesting twist.
Can these two reconnect after all these years? Will a scandal involving Stephanie push him further away?
Overall I enjoyed this book and the rest of the books in the series. All of the characters are great and are like a big family. They all add so much to the story and series. Hayley has become a must read author for me, her writing is great and she pulls you right in. I can’t wait to read more from her. If you're looking for a great read, 1-click and get started on this great must read series.
I voluntarily reviewed Advanced Reader Copies of these books.
I have been wanting Fords book since the first time I saw him in this series and it was everything I was hoping for. I loved how sweet he was but also gruff from being hurt in the past. Honestly, he didn’t let that stop him though. He was a man that knew what he wanted and in the end, got that HEA that he deserved. Stephanie was harder for me to like. I understood her, I really did, but there was quite a bit of back and forth from her in this book and it annoyed me a little bit. But in the end I understood her.
The plot was fast paced but not overly so to where it was over the top. I won’t go into plot details because it’s more fun to find them out your self but they were great. Some of my favorite themes. I will say it’s a second chance romance with heart. These characters really hard to work for their happy ending. I am sad to see this series end. These characters (all of them) have worked their way into my heart. We got to see all of our favorites and see where they are in life and that was a big added bonus. I really need to go and read this authors mafia type series. It’s one I haven’t read yet but I really plan to do it. 4 stars #2OCCJD
This is definitely one series I’m sad to see end. I have LOVED each book, & each couple. I cannot recommend this entire series enough. It’s a definite must read. I so not a fan of Stephanie in the beginning, or even halfway through. I completely understood her reasoning for leaving & wanting more when she was only 18. But I don’t like or respect her for how she literally ran away, leaving Ford standing at the alter. For a lot of the book I thought she was selfish & a typical spoiled Hollywood scarlet who forgot where she came from. Then just when I kinda started coming around to her, she once again ran off. The best thing Ford did was go after her to LA, make amends & leave the final decision to her, but letting her know he was leaving & she wouldn’t get the chance to hurt him again. Ford was one of the bestest guys ever. At only 18 he knew he what he wanted. The house he remodeled, the furniture he built, everything he did for Stephanie to give her the start to their future was beautiful. My heart hurt for him knowing how bad he wanted marriage & kids. He was so in love w/a woman for 17 yrs & couldn’t move on. Seeing him get it all in the end was the best feeling ever.
Stephanie was an 18 year old girl with dreams bigger than her small country town of Gallup. Ford was an 18 year old boy that knew exactly what he wanted and that was his ranch, and his sweet Stevie (Stephanie) to be is wife. Things didn’t pan out for them as they originally planned. Stephanie ran as fast as she could leaving a young Ford broken and sad. As the years move on they both do too but only superficially. Stephanie and Ford feel they are missing something. When Stephanie comes rolling back into town 17 years later can these two pick up where they left off or are some things better left in the past. Sometimes memories and first love isn’t enough. Ford’s dreams have never wavered and he still wants a family to raise on his ranch. Can Stephanie let go of her bright stars in Hollywood and become everything Ford has ever wanted? This is the fifth book in the Unfit Hero series. It can be read as a stand-alone but reading the prior books gives you a better idea of who all the side characters are. Loved all the crossovers.
Cowboy brings us Stephanie and Ford. High School sweethearts, who were supposed to get married, but Ford was left at the alter. Stephanie wanted Hollywood - and all that it brings with it - fame, fortune, glamour. Except, she always felt like something or someone was missing. She spent 17 years there, and finally started listening to her inner thoughts. She went back home, knowing that her heart still belonged to Ford, however, Ford was not so accommodating. He had questions, a lot of anger, He spent most of him time on his ranch with his trusted horse Starlight. Then unflattering pictures of Stephanie find their way into the media, and once again, they both are horrified. Stephanie goes back to Hollywood to find out who is behind all of that - and she finds out it was her ex-fiance, and he is involved with the mafia. Stephanie tries to intervene, but she needs Ford to help her out. Ford is one great guy. You will have to find out if they both get their HEA. This is a great read and I highly recommend it. I did receive an arc for an honest review.
I received an ARC of this story and am leaving my review voluntarily. This is part of a series and characters from previous books appear. It will make it more enjoyable if you read the first 4 books. You will not be disappointed.
Triggers: talk of cheating, kidnapping, forced drugging, threat of rape
**spoilers** This is a second chance story, not my usual kind of reading but Ford is one of my favorite characters and I really want him to get his HEA.
Ford is a good guy, knew what and who he wanted his whole life. The definition of manly, sexy cowboy.
Stephanie, aka Stevie, loved Ford but she wasn't sure she wanted to be a small town wife and mom. So she ran away and stayed gone for years. She was a bit harder to like at first. She chose fame and fortune, which is fine, but she was immature and selfish too.
Ford ran his family farm, had sex with random girls and never settled down. When he see's Stephanie back in town, he decides to give her another chance. There is some drama, sexy time, a little action. HEA
Hayley has done it again. This is book 5 of her Unfit Hero series, but don’t worry if you haven’t read the others. This could be read as a stand alone. You can just feel the love the main characters, Stephanie and Ford have for each other. There was a life changing decision made 17 years ago, but their love never stopped. When they’re brought back into each other’s lives the sparks are there. It got pretty hot and heavy at times. Just when I thought things were good, Hayley threw in a twist. She even managed to tie the book in with her Russian Bratva series. She didn’t play around with the characters making them act unrealistic, where you’d just shake your head. I felt the emotion and saw them make decisions that made sense. I never once wanted to slap one of the characters and yell, “are you that stupid??” Happy ending for all and I loved the epilogue. Get to reading! You will like this book.
First off, Ford is ABSOLUTELY swoon-worthy, this guy is not a chump, but you can clearly see his emotions and it is AMAZING to see and read. Add in a dash of just enough edge, and you have yourself a man main that a reader can get behind! Our leading lady was a little bit harder to like, but the author did a great job of showing her struggle and having her grow as a character.
These two have enough baggage that would take up the entire baggage claim, but you can feel their emotions while reading. It was a second chance romance that has you wanting to see how things play out. All in all, if you are looking for a heartwarming romance that has a main man that is a sweet but just straight up so MANLY, than this is the book for you! I give this book 4.5 because it seemed to drag in a few areas, but was a great overall book!
PS: Thank you to Hayley Faiman and Wildfire Marketing Romance for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly.
Ford and Stephanie's story is such a wonderful second chance romance.
Stephanie left Fordat the alter. She went to Hollywood and became a star. But something was never right.
Ford became a very bitter, hard man. He was alone except for his Unfit Hero friends and his horse Starlight.
Stephanie broke up with her Hollywood fiance and she had to come home to handle her father's estate. She ran into her high school friends and then Ford. The heat between them was still there and Ford wanted her to stay. Stephanie had to go back to Hollywood to handle an issue regarding her ex. While in Hollywood she discovered her ex was involved with the mob. She also realized where she really wanted to be. She wanted Ford and she wanted the simple life.
I just love the way Hayley intertwines all her characters from the previous books in the Unfit Heros series. She even threw in a surprise person from another series. She's is one of my favorite authors!!
This is a slow burn angsty second chance romance. Seventeen years ago Stevie walked away from everyone and everything in her life to chase her dreams. Now she finds her life empty and unfulfilled and wondering what if. Ford has just been coasting through life. He runs his ranch and has his friends but he’s never found anyone he wants to spend his life with. When Stevie comes home to take care of her father’s estate she of course runs into Ford. She’s determined to apologize to him and try to make things right. They are both still in love with each other but they have to figure out if they can form a relationship with the people they have become. She isn’t Stevie anymore and Ford is no longer an 18 year old ready to give her the world if she only asked. Stephanie’s habit of running away instead of talking made me want to slap her. Of course Ford does some dumb stuff too but they eventually get out of their own way and work things out.
It was a good book but I just didn't like Stephanie. She didn't deserve him at all. The first time she left him, she was young and all that but she could have left him in any possible way except at the altar, you don't do that, my poor Ford, I felt so bad for him. The second time she leaves and goes to Sebastian without even trying to make things work with Ford, her excuses were nothing. That man has loved her his whole life and she left him twice, I mean no one can take that much, and I loved when he decided he needed to move on, enough was enough. The third time he left her and I just loved it, it was her turn to show him that she cared about him enough to make them stay together. She was the one that made the effort in the end and thank God for that, she should, not him. Ford was just perfect, he deserved someone who loved him as much as he loved her and I feel that despite her loving him back, he loved her more than she loved him
It's not often that I actually love the hero more than the heroine, but in Cowboy, that's exactly what happened. Stephanie broke Ford's (Cowboy) heart in the worst way then left her small town. It's a couple decades later when she has to come home to tie up loose ends after her father dies. Of course, she will have to face Ford, a great guy who still loves her, but she has some up & down issues that had me calling her bad names throughout. I don't want to get into more of this emotional story because of spoilers, but not only is the angst leveled up, there was a twist or two to keep me guessing until the biggest one of all. So, does Stephanie finally make up her mind?! Will it be too late for Ford if she does?! Hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Stephanie & Ford... These two were high school sweethearts. They loved each other so much. But something was missing in Stephanie's life. She wanted more and she leaves Ford stranded at the alter to go to Hollywood to become a star. Then 17 years later she has to come back home to handle her fathers estate. She is getting over her crappy ex-fiancé. When she bumps into Ford the love that they both share is still there. Ford, he loved Stephanie but she had hurt him and he has hardened his heart. But when he sees her again his feelings come to the surface. These two have a lot to overcome but love will find away. I really understood Stephanie and her dreams at such a young age you want to make sure you fulfill your dreams before you are tied down. I also felt Fords pain from his heart shattering. I was so glad that these two got a second chance to make things work.
This booooooooook. Hoomahgawd Hayley Faiman. OH. EM. GEE. I was feeling all the things while I was reading this. I was crying. I was raging. I wanted to slap these characters then I wanted to hug them and never let them go. The angst was gutting, the emotion was real, the love was so powerful it radiated from the pages in a way that was utterly captivating. Ford and Stephanie/Sterling were so many things and every one of those things was incredible. You could feel the ache between them as much as you could feel the magnetic chemistry that pulls them back together no matter how many years it's been. Cowboy goes beyond your run of the mill second chance and delivers a story that sticks to your soul.
