This is the fourth book by Paul Sinclair, but the first one specifically autobiographical. Tracing his boyhood in rural Yorkshire in the sixties and seventies he gives well observed insights into village life which unfold into his being beset by the paranormal. Paul relates how his life was repeatedly visited by various phenomena and the ensuing loneliness which changed his own and his family’s lives for ever. While he conveys a remarkable objectivity and acceptance he documents his progress from victim to established authority and researcher in the field of UFOs, cryptids, apparitions and poltergeists. The author stoically resists the temptation to feel malice or explain and categorise his experiences; he does however convey powerfully to the reader the emotional impact they have had on his life. Not a book perhaps for the solitary reader on a stormy night. Unquestionably a touchstone and comfort for those who have suffered similarly, which will also stir the imaginations of those who have not.
I've read Mr. Sinclair's other three books with enjoyment. He is a seasoned researcher and author who has a straightforward style all his own. I heard of him first on Heather Wades podcast. She only needed to ask a few questions and then the show became his! I listen to every show he is invited to speak on and he never disappoints. He always leaves us sitting on the edge of our seats, enraptured with his many stories! What a great speaker he is! I'm looking forward to his next thoughtfully told book. As an American I can safely say, his books knock it out of the park every single time! Great read! Sincerely, Judy Liston Gross
When you talk about "alien abductions", ghosts, hauntings or paramornal phenomenon, the typical reaction in society is to laugh, mock and dismiss.
Yet tens of thousands of people around the world report experiencing highly strange incidents, and in this book, author Paul Sinclair shares his own story of lifelong interactions with high strangeness and what he refers to as the "night people".
The earlier chapters explore the intruders in his bedroom as a child, and the experiences he and his parents had. It makes for truly chilling reading.
The later chapters explore Paul's later life as a grown up, and how his family was affected. Again, most people would dismiss his stories as too absurd, but Simpsons experiences are shared in such detail that you have to find them disturbing.
Whatever you believe - whether the experiences are real, the people involved are hallucinating, misunderstanding or just outright lying - this is a phenomenon that is worth exploring, rather than simply mocking and dismissing out of hand.
A fascinating, but truly terrifying read for anyone who has an open mind to the world potentially beyond that which we can see.
I make no bones about it, this actually made me cry for the small boy Paul was and what he experienced. He's still experiencing and suspect it will continue for the rest of his life. It's worrying, his grandchildren are being targeted as well, as was his daughters and even his wife!
This is a very scary read, proving that we are not safe from these beings, doesn't matter how much we bar windows and doors, they will always manage to get access if they want it.
I absolutely loved this book!! The events written about by Paul are all authentic and he writes about each experience with (often frightening) clarity. Having experienced some very frightening visitations since early childhood he writes about actual sightings. Reading this amazing book had me feeling very sad for the small child that witnessed such events with nobody to turn to for help. Paul is an excellent and dedicated researcher in everything that can't be explained logically.
An excellent account of the paranormal life experience of one of the UK’s leading investigators in the field. A down-to-earth read which will make you wonder just how many people have similar stories but do not speak out.
