To Moira Mo Rossi, the world is full of sunshine, goodness, and happily ever afters--so of course she figures finding the perfect roomie will be easy. But after four creepos who ask if benefits come with the room and one woman who claims she's a vampire, Mo is officially desperate. So what if the guy she agrees to on paper ends up being the Derrick Downer to her Sally Sunshine in person? She's the queen of making lemonade. August Porter expected his new roommate Mo to be like him--neat, practical, and oh yeah: male. Not the outrageous hippie with more stars in her eyes than there are in the sky. She's infuriating, exasperating, his exact opposite in every possible way . . . and the bright ray of sunshine he didn't even realize his gray world was missing. Suddenly, falling into bed with his roommate isn't the worst idea he's ever heard. Just falling in love with her is. But one of them is keeping a secret that could turn their opposite attraction into utter disaster. Contains mature themes.

I was looking for something sweet, quick and sassy romance. The Roommate Problem, answer my wish. The story offers rom com with a quick sweet plot. Not complicated. No dramatic twist or dramatic heroine. Just a good time.
Miss Ankenman is relatively new to me. I do not have a chance to read more of her book. Certainly I am looking forward for more of her books. Her rom com is very entertaining. Simple story line with a fun sassy banter. It certainly cracks me a smile here and there. So much fun!
The story had potential to be a good romcom, but with bland characters and not enough funny situations, it didn't work. 2.5 Stars
I liked the lead's profession and the overall, flower background of the novel but the romance wasn't fun and the situations weren't at all sarcastic. The Male lead was a big grump, but, not the exciting kind.
I think this will probably work better for some readers. It's a grumpy/sunshine romance where extreme opposites become roommates and fall for each other. Some of it was cute, but at the beginning of the book the characters felt kind of like stereotypes, though that does improve later on. I think I had a hard time buying that these two could reasonably live together when they are such polar opposites in terms of cleanliness, eating, lifestyle etc. It made it hard to be fully invested in the HEA, but others might feel differently.
This story solidifies the age old saying "opposites attract" and I loved every moment of it! The story was fun and easy, full of charm and heart, and put a huge smile on my face from beginning to end!
The storyline develops nicely and unfolds realistic with just the right amount of humor mixed with #feels! Well done!
We get opposites attract with this book and I tend to enjoy those as I did with this one. Moira was the happy go lucky girl who saw the best in everyone but unfortunately for her ends up with a whole lot of jerks and weirdos. She finally gets one who is cute and she was excited until he moves in. August was the yeah judgmental on contact, thinking she is just a mess until he realizes there is so much more to her than he originally thought and what he sees is much to his liking.
I really liked this romance between Mo and August.
The story was sweet, heartwarming, angsty, steamy and Mo and August were just so cute and meant to be. This is an opposites attract/reluctant roommates romance and one of the things that annoyed me a little was that Their opposites were kind of to exaggerated. He ate very healthy, she definitely didn’t. He was grumpy, she was sunshine and happy. He was mr. clean, her not so much. But it was very sweet the way she got him to open up and find his way to happiness and his grovel at the end was so perfect and just swoon.......yes go August.
This is the third and final story about the three friends who owns a wedding planner business and finds love in Denver “The Mile High City”. And Mo has been a favorite of mine throughout the series because she was not afraid to say what she meant and she was funny and spread joy all around her. She just wanted the best for everyone she knows and loves. And I am just so happy that she found her HEA with August.
I can definitely recommend this book.
I got this book from Entangled Publishing and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Country boy August moves to Denver with the intentions of persuading his Grandmother that it's time for her to sale her flower business. His Grandma tells him about Mo, who needs a new roomie. August is under the assumption that Mo is a guy but once he reaches the apartment and the door opens, it's a woman..named Moira. I love me a good close proximity romance and being that Mo's wedding planning business with her two girlfriends works alongside with Agatha's (August's grandmother) flower shop, while he's working with his Grandma it is just a tad bit of workplace romance in there too but more close proximity.
These two are complete opposites. Moira is a hot mess, literally. August can't take how messy of a person she is, how messy the apartment is. He obviously likes things clean. Moira will sit and eat an entire box of cereal while watching stand up while August can live off healthy chicken and rice or cauliflower pizza. He's pretty uptight in the beginning but Moira from the jump really tries to get him to loosen up, embrace Denver and she tries including him in the things she enjoys doing. The internal struggle in this book is from August's perspective. His parents divorced and remarried, so he felt shuffled around and forgotten, which is why he's so close to his Grandmother. He doesn't like feeling left out of things which plays into the conflict later on in the book. I really liked seeing how the author wove everything together and how things played out towards the end.
"Seeing people happy made her happy. And if some of those stars she reached for fell into her eyes, then so be it. Life looked a little brighter through starlight anyway."
"Finding the person you love doesn't mean everything works out perfectly. You'll still fight, argue, disagree. You'll do things or say thing you shouldn't, apologize, and have to learn to forgive. But the true test of love is if you both realize that what you have is worth fighting for."
Obviously things happen throughout the book that change the dynamic of the relationship between Moira and August. It gets really sexy there for a while-you know, "this is just sex," but we know how that goes. The intimacy and more time spent and the more you get to know a person begins to change that.
It's a sweet, romantic opposite-attracts kind of story that will warm your heart and put a smile to your face. I loved it!
Mo is a happy-go-lucky type of person. She is quick to smile and she has a way to make people instantly like her. However, August is one person whose walls she can't break. He is grumpy and keeps to himself. More than that, he is annoyed with his grandmother who tricked him and also, keeps refusing to sell her flower shop and retire, which he strongly believes that she should do. Now, Mo finds herself between the two. Keeping secrets when she knows fully well that truth always comes out one way or the other. Will she end up hurting the two of the most important people in her life or is she the one who is going to end up being hurt? One thing is for sure though, she is feeling things she has never felt before and she is willing to fight for them.
It's a really well-written romantic comedy. The kind that makes you laugh out loud. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and would recommend it to all romance fans. Definitely worth the read! https://bookseaterme.blogspot.com/
Oh, these two were a fun pair. They couldn't be more opposite: he's grumpy, she sunshine all the time, he likes all things green, she loves anything with carbs, he likes tidy, she's messy.
He wants to sell his grandmother's shop and leave as soon as possible. He's only a temporary roommate. When they begin sleeping together, this was supposed to be easy. No feelings.
Moira wants him to stay. At first, it's because she needs a roommate. She adores his grandmother and disagrees with his plan.
What August doesn't know is the secret Moira is keeping from him. The longer they stay together, deeper their feelings go and the harder it gets for Moira to tell him the truth.
I really like how they wanted each other to like things the other doesn't. Being outside, eating cauliflower pizza... It was a fun, cute read.
4 stars.

The Roommate Problem is the second book by Mariah Ankenman I’ve had the pleasure of reading, and I can attest it will definitely not be the last. Ankenman has such a swoon-worthy was with words and develops delightful, lighthearted romantic comedies that are just what the doctor ordered in today’s current climate.
I fell head-over-heels for Mo, the bright burst of hippie sunshine that takes this book by storm. She was entirely too much fun. And watching poor August get trampled by her big personality was adorable. Their dynamic was so much fun. August came off as a jerk to her at first, but after the procession of failed roommates she’s had prior to him, she uses her “sees the best in everyone” attitude to give him another shot.
Then there was August’s Gran. She was a hoot and such a great, well-rounded side character. She brought so much to the table and really humanized August in his grumpiest, most intolerable moments. I was rooting for these two to get over their differences from early on. August was definitely harder to win over, and he took me longer to warm up to than Mo—who I fell for immediately—but them together was just perfection. Their relationship was fun and sparked off the page.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for something lighthearted and romantic to while away a lazy summer day. It’s fun, full of life, and brings more than its fair share of laughter to the table.
Thank you to netgallery and Entangled publishing for giving this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions on this review are mine. This book is a contemporary romance novels bel with an opposite attract trope. You could see that August and Mo were exact opposite. It was quite clear. She was messy, he was neat and organised. what I really love amount romance novels is how authors are able to bring two different characters together. The author is able to create a love story whereby the hero and the heroine balance each other out which is what a real life relationship is about. I felt that this author was able to accomplish this. I really loved how they met but I don’t want to spoil it for you by writing it. The only thing I didn’tike was how their love story was portrayed. It felt a bit too rushed. But that’s just my honest opinion anyway. I really loved Agatha and I can assure you, you will love her too. I recommend to anybody who likes a cute romance. Overall it was an okay book for me. It was an enjoyable read.
The Roommate Problem by Mariah Ankenman a five-star read that will bring Sunshine to your life. This is so adorkable, it’s a total opposites attract in the best way, I have loved the Mile High Happiness series and was almost a little sad this was number three as there are only three Mile High Happiness ladies will there be more? These can all be read as stand-alone as they do each tell the story of a different partner in the Mile High Happiness business and well its so nice when the people who make others dreams come true get their own happiness. Mo was just sublime I adored her to her messy little toes and August is just the opposite in the best way possible, I adored his knowledge of flowers including the history and meaning behind them, it just added another layer to this great story.
The Roommate Problem is Mariah Ankenman’s third book in the Mile High Happiness Series. I enjoyed reading Mo and August’s story. Even though August was more than grumpy all the way through, Mo was a delight with her happier than ever personality. This opposite-attract love story had many Hilarious moments but also had many warm and sweet moments.
Thanks to Entangled Publishing for my ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
Moira has a sunny disposition, her rose coloured glasses outlook works for her. Her devil may care attitude and boho style. Add in her love of junk food, and you’ve got a fun loving wedding organiser.
August is a neat freak. Everything in its place, nothing wrong with a home that’s immaculate. He likes organic food, the gym and helping others. Not really a fun loving guy, more practical.
I had a chuckle through the whole book. Poor Moira, all she wants is someone like her to help pay the rent, what’s she gets is a procession of weirdos and creeps! And when she meets August, at first she thinks he’s kind of cute, then he goes and ruins it by being a jerk. August on the other hand isn’t too impressed, she’s untidy, she’s just the total opposite of him. But the more time they spend together, the more August sees past the mess, the jangling jewellery and pineapple on the pizza, and begins to like what he sees. Mo sees the good in everyone, wants to give the benefit of the doubt to people. And bouncing everywhere. She lives life to the full, and she just had so much energy (probably the sugar coated cereal) The book bounces along beautifully, the characters just spark off each other. Love August’s Gran, she’s just a fun loving person.
The romance between Mo and August is such a rollercoaster of emotions. Mo is determined to make August have fun, August is determined to help his Gran, then go back home. The attraction might sizzle between them, but he can’t fall for someone so sloppy. But when the sparks ignite, both August and Mo try to keep to fun only, no commitments, no promises, just fun until August goes home.
And the secret one of them is keeping.... I can’t tell you, that’s for you to find out when you read this funny book.
🦋 I received this book for an honest review. All thoughts are my own
This book was exactly what I wanted to read right now! It's full of humor, heat, and heart.
I absolutely adore Moira and August. He is a bit of a grump - her nicknames for him were hilarious - and she is full of sunshine. He is sure they will not get along during their six months as roommates, but the chemistry between them is undeniable.
There are moments as I got to know both Moira and August that I found myself relating to their experience or outlook. They felt like real people with real issues and concerns.
I have really enjoyed this series, but I think this is hands down my favorite book from the author.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC for an honest review.
The story is fun and fast-paced, maybe because of Mo's energy. But I found Mo to be an exhausting sort of person--maybe I'm more of an August? That said, August seemed a bit entitled to know everything about his aunt's business and health, and while she shouldn't have kept stuff from him, he gets a bit righteous in thinking he knows what's best for her.
I felt that the characters were somewhat self-conscious in acting like they knew they were in a romance novel in their awareness of the tropes and beats they were living through. This could be tongue-in-cheek on the author's part, but if it was supposed to be, it wasn't fully integrated into the story.
Very entertaining story about a feisty Mo and a more serious August. These two cannot be more different and some of their disagreements and conversations can become quite funny. It is still a mystery to me how such different people survived sharing apartment.
The beginning of the book was a bit of a struggle (some differences of opinion sounded a bit critical for me), but there was a good chemistry (and good intentions!) between these two. They find their ways to adapt to their differences.
In sum, a cute light romance with a bit of banter. Even being part of a series, it can be read as a standalone…
*I voluntarily read an early copy of this book. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley.
Mo is a woman who always sees the bright side in every situation and would do anything for anyone. Now that her two best friends have moved out she finds herself looking for a roommate and her grandmother’s best friend has arranged for her grandson to move in, what could possibly go wrong?
August couldn’t be more different from Mo whether it is in regard to their attitude about life and love, their eating habits or the cleanliness of their apartment. He is grateful the situation is temporary as the only reason he finds himself in town is to convince his grandmother to sell her flower shop and slow down.
The one thing that neither of them counted on was the chemistry between them but a roommates with benefits situation is about to become complicated not only by the feelings between them but the secrets as well.
I really enjoyed both these characters as once we learn August’s backstory his reactions to certain situations are understandable while Mo is the kind of friend that everyone needs in their life.
I loved Mo. I loved August. I loved Agatha. Really, there was a WHOLE LOT OF LOVE going on here!
The "meet cute" of him (August...aka Grumpy Gus Gus...HA!) arriving in town to help his grandmother (Agatha...such a doll!) with her flower shop and landing on the doorstep of Mo (Moira...aka Sunshine!) expecting a dude, and getting...someone is who SO not a dude, was PRICELESS!
The BIG SECRET (or should I say secrets?) gave us a plot point to count on being revealed to the other party at some instance along their six month timeline...and I'm not just talking about selling the shop talk, or retirement, or the adult activities that these two may or may not get up to! No, it's bigger than that...with much higher stakes involved when their walls start tumbling down.
So, if you're in the mood for UBER WATT SPARKAGE, characters you won't want to let go, a few laughs, a dozen smiles, and an ending that feels just right...stop what you're doing to GRAB THIS BOOK!
A ginger male lead? Yes. A GRUMPY ginger male lead? Yes PLEASE.
I absolutely adore this odd couple. She is messy, free-spirited, junk-food, and sunshine! He is a clean freak, healthy-eater, control freak with a grumpy attitude. But, OH, these two!
One wonderful part of this book, for me, was the heroine (Mo) starts out to just be friends with the hero (August). She has no ulterior motive. She is not trying to get him into bed. She is just a sweet girl who wants all around her to be happy! Watching Mo loosen up this grumpy guy is pure fun!
I also loved that the conflict in this story is one the reader can see all sides of. There isn't a "good guy" and a "bad guy". And when these two finally come together it is Swoon-Face-5000! This book is sweet, steamy, and sexy.
I received an ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review.
I usually don’t enjoy romance novels. I absolutely loved this one. Roommates to lovers, opposites attract, and likable main characters. Moira was so quirky and independent. The ending might not have been a surprise, but it was perfect.
August hates all things about city life but loves his grandmother so he sucks it up and temporarily moves to the city to convince his grandmother to sell her flower shop and move out of the city with him- he just has to survive his new roommate Mo. Mo is a happy ray of sunshine who never met a person she didn't instantly like and want to help, but it seems like broody August might just be her toughest opponent.
The Roommate Problem is all the best words- adorable, fun, sweet, hot, cute, likable. I really enjoyed this fast paced, super easy read. I picked it up on afternoon and didn't stop reading until I reached the wonderful conclusion- and yes, this has the best HEA I could have ever hoped for. This was very much a character driven story, with just a little in the plot but big in the personality and relationship dynamics. Mo is full of energy and spontaneity, always up for anything yet with a heart of gold as she tries to help everyone. August is basically her complete opposite. He is quiet and reserved, very introverted and has tons of personal baggage that makes it nearly impossible to open up and trust people. I liked watching Mo bulldoze her way through almost all situations and her self confidence was truly a thing of wonder. I honestly related more to August and his quiet introspection, but I loved seeing Mo and August learn to balance each other.
I discovered after I read this book while on Goodreads that this is the 3rd book in the Mile High Happiness series. I am happy to report that this completely works as a standalone contemporary romance, no previous book is needed to enjoy this story- but that being said, I loved the side characters who just so happen to be the main characters in the other books in the series so I will most certainly be reading more about the Mile High Happiness ladies! This is the perfect read for anyone who loves opposites attract relationships, complicated relationship dynamics and a ending to fill you with warm fuzzies.
The Roommate Problem is the third book in the Mile High Happiness series by Mariah Ankenman. While having read the previous books will give you a more rounded understanding of some of the characters, this book can stand up just fine on its own. It is currently scheduled for release on August 10 2020.
To Moira “Mo” Rossi, the world is full of sunshine, goodness, and happily ever afters—so of course she figures finding the perfect roomie will be easy. But after four creepos who ask if benefits come with the room and one woman who claims she’s a vampire, Mo is officially desperate. So what if the guy she agrees to on paper ends up being the Derrick Downer to her Sally Sunshine in person? She’s the queen of making lemonade. August Porter expected his new roommate Mo to be like him—neat, practical, and oh yeah: male. Not the outrageous hippie with more stars in her eyes than there are in the sky. She’s infuriating, exasperating, his exact opposite in every possible way...and the bright ray of sunshine he didn’t even realize his gray world was missing. Suddenly, falling into bed with his roommate isn’t the worst idea he’s ever heard. Just falling in love with her is. But one of them is keeping a secret that could turn their opposite attraction into utter disaster.
The Roommate Problem is a sweet and fun read. Mo and August are the quintessential odd couple. Mo is all optimism and joy, while August is very reserved and introverted. I loved seeing them get to know each other better and discover how they balanced and complimented each other. Their growth from rather adversarial roommates to a couple was fun and satisfying to read. Both Mo and August grew, and their interactions varied from serious to seriously funny. I will admit that I saw they major conflict coming- from far, far away- and mentally urged different choices several times. However, I think the way it was handle and the character development involved kept it interesting and engaging.
The Roommate Problem is a solid romance that fans of the author and series will definitely want to read.
So this is the third in the Mile High Happiness series but can be read as a standalone. I recommend reading the other two just because they’re amazing and they give you a bit more understanding of Mo’s best friend’s and their relationships.
I absolutely loved this book, just as much as I loved The Best Friend Problem and The Best Man Problem. Mariah Ankenman has done it again and I found myself really connecting with this story and it’s characters. I found this story impossible to put down and ended up devouring this story in one night.
I loved Mo and was so happy to finally read her story and her journey to love. She’s incredibly caring, selfless and thoughtful. She goes out of her way for others and wanted August to feel comfortable as soon as he moved in. I love her personality, her style and most of all her friendship with Agatha who is like a grandmother to her.
August frustrated me at the beginning, especially when he first meets Mo. He’s a clean freak and doesn’t want to experience what the town has to offer. He’s here to support his grandmother Agatha and convince her to sell her flower shop and finally retire. However the more we learnt about August the more I understood the reasons why he has trouble trusting people and letting them in. I ended up really liking his character and the chemistry and banter he had with Mo.
My only issue with the book is how quick everything happened in terms of the time line. I think I would have liked it to have taken a little bit longer for things to happen and not the few months in book that it was.
The Roommate problem is a cute, fast-paced romance filed with chemistry and romance! I have absolutely loved this series and I’m sad to see it end. I have loved every one of these characters and have loved reading about them finding love along the way! If you’re a fan of steamy romances then this series is for you!
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
If ever there were two opposites that attracted each other it would be romance loving ball of happiness Mo and the grumpy flower grower August. When August's grandmother said she would organize a place for him to live while he is back in town, he definitely did not think the Mo he would be rooming with would turn out to be a girl and a super sunny one at that. If ever there was a person that pushed to see the beauty in the disaster it was Mo, so when her new roomie turns out to be a grouchy hottie, who was planning on shutting down her favorite flower supplier and taking away her pseudo-nonna, Mo just wouldn't have it. And so begins her plan to get grumpy GusGus to fall in love with urban living. The only hiccup being what Mo feels is fun is the polar opposite to what Auggie would like. So to say the two got of into a rough start would be putting it mildly, but the one thing neither can deny is their insane chemistry. Just as August is starting to feel like he has finally found a place that he could call home, one of his childhood insecurities surfaces in what he though was his safe place.
••
The Roommate Problem was such a cute read! I loved this opposites attract romance, watching these two fall in love was just so cute. I loved how chippy and optimistic Mo was and that she never gave up on trying to win over Auggie. As for August I loved that his love and passion for flowers was so strong and he didn't shy away from his passion. As for August Gran, she was just a hoot! I loved that he was such a lowkey matchmaker and felt no shame about wanting to connect two people he loved.
••
Overall I loved this quirky opposites attract romance, this is definitely one that I would recommend this light cheery romance to all romance lovers.
This was a new author for me and I’m so glad I got a chance to read. The book was an opposite attracts troupe and was full of humor and fun characters. It was well written, and the plot was developed. Moaira “Mo” was part owner of a bridal company and loved her job. She was full of good humor, friendly, and happy ever after’s. She hadn’t met her true love yet but new she would find him eventually. Her friend has moved out and she needs a new roommate but is having a hard time finding an acceptable one. Mo’s friend Agatha has a grandson that is moving and needs somewhere to live. Mo thinks it’s the perfect solution if only she didn’t find him attractive. She is determined to introduce August to fun things found in the city to convince him to stay. August has moved to the city to help his grandmother, Agatha with her flower shop. He doesn’t want to live in the city or run her flower shop, but Agatha isn’t able to handle the shop by herself. He was expecting Mo to be a male and didn’t expect the apartment to be so messy. He liked everything clean and organized and Mo’s clutter was driving him crazy. This was a funny book that was fast-paced. The characters were charming and easy to connect with. I loved how Mo was so cheerful and always trying to help everyone. Sometimes she went a little crazy helping people, but she had good intentions. August’s childhood was chaotic since he was shuffled from his mom and dad’s house. Now he needs clean and organization, so he feels like he has control of his life. I enjoyed this book and will look forward to future books.
Recommend: I would recommend this book to those that like surprise roommate romance, with roomies falling in love and opposites attract. Also those that LOVE fun and clever banter, consistent teasing and flirting and some HOT, HOT, HOT romance.
Blurb: Moira is spunky and outgoing - the complete opposite from her new roommate August. She was in a bind after her friend moved out to be with her boyfriend/fiance. Agatha (a close friend of Mo's) recommends her grandson August to take the room. Except when August arrives he's in for the shock of his life. For starters, Mo is a female, and a hot one at that, and she's very, very messy. August has always lived by his own rules, needing constant control over his life after an unconventional upbringing. But now Mo is wrecking havoc over everything he's known to be true...maybe his life needs a little mess in it, to finally open his eyes to all life has to offer.
Thoughts: I'm a first time reader of this author and let me tell you, I will be coming back! This book was fantastic. It was engaging, clever, witty, and downright hysterical. I was laughing my a** of and could not put this book down. We get to know these characters so well in this novel and become so emotionally involved that it's so satisfying to watch how the story plays out and it makes it easy to root for these characters dreams. I loved Mo and loved August and I loved watching them together. And the nicknames! Grumpy Gus Gus had my laughing so hard. Seriously this was such a fun book. I loved it!
I received an advanced copy of this book on netgalley for an honest and voluntary review.
