Started off well with a lot potential. The characters have an awkward rapport in the beginning, with him on a mission and very grumpy, and her scared and not knowing who to trust. She happens to say the right things to get him to take her with him, because he feels sorry for her and quickly escalates to more intimacy. Despite being written in the first person from alternating points-of-view, there's little explanation as to why they are attracted to each other, how they make each other feel, their hopes for being together, or something. It felt like the relationship was out of convenience until male starts glowing with amre. Even that wasn't really clear. Is it that they are biologically compatible, but not fated mates? Until she decides and then they are together for life? But then he goes to leave her alone and finish his mission and never really apologizes, but tells her off. No wonder she tries to run away to find her own way off the planet. But all is forgiven when he survives and saves her, while finishing his mission. Felt like it was written in a hurry, despite some good ideas and an interesting alien culture.

Claimed by the Alien Bounty Hunter was one of those romances I read to get myself outside of my comfort zone when it came to themes etc. I'm trying new things I don't typically venture into and this was one of the first of its kind. An odd read, I did like the characters and I liked the world that Elin built for it. There was some back story I would have enjoyed getting more development from as well as some more exploration into the race. Some parts were a little odd but I still enjoyed the unique romance that Elin brought.
This is an OK sci-fi alien romance, but it was just too short for me. I needed more character development on both Khenja and Deanna, and I also needed a lot more world building. It gets 3 stars from me.
I liked Deanna, and thought she adapted to her kidnapping much better than most women would. She did do a few dumb things, but mostly because she was afraid.
Khenja was hard to like at first, with his determination to just leave Deanna after he saved her. It was like he didn't care at all what happened to her, and didn't even consider whether she would be able to survive on her own. He did get a lot better as the story continued, but his attitude change was very sudden -- which made it hard for me to believe. I did like how he tried to protect Deanna, even if it meant injury or death for him.
I liked when Khenja and Deanna found their HEA, but I would have liked an epilogue a little further into their future.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
I found Elin Wyn’s new novella Claimed By The Alien Bounty Hunter such an enjoyable read. It was short and sweet but pack with so much action and romance. It had great characters and an uniquely fascinating storyline. Khenja (alien) rescues Deanna (human) from the alien who took her from Earth and together they go after his bounty to capture him and bring him to justice. Along the way they find love and romance as he realizes that she is his amre (his mate). I recommend this book to everyone. Danger, and attraction being two very different beings together. On There journey they discover what's truly important especially when you find your other half when you least wanted or expected.it. 💖
Kidnapped by aliens ain’t a new thing. But Deanna’s abduction gets in the way of an alien bounty hunter’s successful - and highly profitable - conclusion to a three year interstellar hunt. Bounty hunter, fugitive, alien abductor and Deanna all wind up crashed on the same swampy hostile planet. The rest of the story is an exercise in separating an omelet back into individual eggs: messy, frustrating, and damned near impossible. Still, it’s kinda fun watching these guys chase each other around, get in each others’ way, all while dealing with the local flora, fauna, and indigenous people - all of which are supremely nasty. Of course, our bounty hunting tree man discovers that Deanna is the mate he thought he’d never have, and she decides he’s her one and only. All they have to do is outwit her kidnapper and his quarry and get off-planet in one piece. It’s a good story, but the world-building isn’t quite up to making sense of the whole thing. Read it for the imaginatively described aliens, the steamy romance, and the fast and furious action.
Khenja is a bounty hunter and he is on the hunt for one when he comes across a human woman called Deanna. He gave up the chance to find his one true mate (amre) when he left his homeworld and so he is annoyed to come across her as he doesn't want anyone to get in his way. But he finds himself with a need to protect her even though she is not great at following orders. When his enemy puts her into danger he realises that he needs to make her his - the question is will she accept him in time for him to keep her safe?
This was a sweet novella-length story that due to the length moved on quite fast in places - hence there wasn't a great deal of character development and I felt that she trusted him much quicker than a "normal" person would. That said it was a nice story that showed that love is universal and that it is possible between an alien and a human. Easy to read and understand. Contains sexual content.
Be prepared for a lot of action (good and bad) in this exciting read. From being kidnapped, shot out of the sky, attacked by a lava monster, and attacked by monster trees, who would have thought that Deanna, a human, would fall for Khenja, an alien bounty hunter. Surely not Deanna. This book provides plenty of excitement and suspense with a heartwarming ending. Like all of the works I've read by this author, the world created is well thought out and described in detail. I am never disappointed with Ms. Wyn's creativity.
I couldn't get into this book. It was quite short and there wasn't muck backstory. Deanna is kidnapped by a "bad" alien, then found by a "not so bad" alien. Kenja doesn't want to take the annoying human with him. He's on a bounty hunt after all. I never felt a connection between Deanna and Kenja. One minute they're fighting, then sexing, then back on the mission. It felt disjointed. I also didn't understand the Mtoain planet...why was Kenja banished? Who is the guy he's chasing?
Deanna sure received a rough introduction to the galaxy. But if you’re going to be kidnapped, there’s no better way to get free then get in the way of a high speed chase. I love the way the author threw these two characters together and the way they bonded while they were on the hunt. The author kept the story moving and brought us to a HEA that was out of this world. I can’t wait to read more books by this author.
Mainly about why and who of the alien that abducted. And why he was tracking the one other male across planets. (Still do not know why). Then slowly the story started making sense. Loved her coping mechanisms. Did enjoy the planet, etc but wished there was a little more back story about his planet, why he and others left. And why their did not seem like many females left.
I liked the characters and story. I, however, did not understand the whole leave the woman asleep on the ship when she asked him to stay and then he acted like a jerk. Why couldn't he just tell her he did not want to take the chance on the bad guy coming back and hurting her. That is something any woman would have understood but no instead he was a jerk face and it caused a lot more trouble.
If you do not pay close attention important clues will slip by you. Fast paced interesting characters and definitely weird flora and fauna?. Up to the standards I look for, personally, for an attention holding, imaginative trip into a whole different fish out of water situation.
The first book in the Mtoain Bounty Hunters series which is part of the In The Stars Romance. A well written story with a very good storyline, it was well worth reading. Deanna and Khenja's story of adventure, and romance. I want to read more in this series. I read a copy of this book Through K.U. and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A quick, enjoyable, sci-fi romance read, with a nursing student heroine, and an alien bounty-hunter with a certain tree-like resemblance. This was a fairly short, and fast read, perfectly sized for an evening, or a lunchtime if you’re a fast reader! Recommended for those who enjoy sci-fi romance.
Well now that was a weird alien! I think Elin went way out there to come up with this race of aliens for sure. I thought Khenja was focused and tenacious, but Deanna was stubborn and selfish. I only started liking her after Khenja got hurt the second time. But I loved the world building and look forward to more books about this weird species of aliens.
Khenja may be an interesting and different species but deep down he’s still a guy. When Deanna is kidnapped by an insectoid alien she is scared but manages to keep her wits about her. Their journey to mates is action packed and fun. Great short read.
This is the first book in the Mtoain Bounty Hunters series, it is a well written story with a very good storyline. Deanna and Khenja's story of adventure, and romance is entertaining and I can't wait to read more in this series. I received a FREE copy of this book to read and I voluntarily leaving a review.
A kidnapped human student nurse and an alien bounty hunter, sounds like they have nothing in common, but the author has an interesting way to make it happen. And then the action starts and things get dicey, keeping you reading and not wanting to stop.
Interesting....rather a story in the typical style of Human abducted by alien, recused by another alien, then that couple got it on then it's HEA. No real believable adventures or strife encountered.
Fun short read, filled with an adventure worth turning page after page without getting bored.Loved it. Plus loved that the female character is strong but also vunarable, funny and loving.
A bounty hunter was chasing a bounty for three years and finally finds him on the last place he would have ever expected. His very own home world. The criminal shot down his partner and tried to get away. The bounty hunter is led on a merry chase.
The story was Interesting. I just didn't see how those two could Falk in live that quickly. A lot of other things weren't explained either. It could have been a good story if it wasn't so short.
Action filled and well composed. The only issue was with a handful of minor typos, but otherwise, ok. Easy and quick to read, although the hot scenes felt clumsily placed. Nothing outrageously special but not the worst either, hence the 3 stars.
