Danger swirls in the mists of the Puget Sound. People are disappearing, the most recent being a young child. Nothing links the victims, except the kidnapper. FBI Special Agent Dakarai Lakes suspects the victim count will only increase… unless he and his team can stop the criminal.
His team’s newest agent might be their greatest weapon. Special Agent Kevyn Taylor has a reputation as a mind reader. As a licensed clinical psychologist, she’s spent years honing her skills to read and predict human behavior with a high degree of accuracy. She might be the secret weapon they need to get inside the kidnapper’s head – if her rule-bending, renegade tactics don’t drive Dak crazy first.
Then the first body is found. The kidnapper is escalating. As more people disappear, and more bodies are discovered, the team fights an unseen enemy to stop him before he kills another victim. Because if they fail, the next body found just might be one of their own.

Candle Sutton writes suspense novels from a Christian worldview. While her primary goal is to entertain, Biblical themes are woven throughout in a non-preachy fashion. She firmly believes that fiction is a powerful tool and that God can and does use it to encourage, challenge, convict, and change His people.
Sutton is a Christian saved by grace, who loves Jesus and tries to live for Him. The beauty of God's creation captivates her, especially anything having to do with water. She enjoys a simple and quiet life in the United States.
A fascinating Christian suspense/mystery of a man with an apparent mental illness who kidnaps people to add to his "family".
The story begins with FBI agents in a stand-off with a man whose daughter disappeared. He's holding hostage a member of their team, threatening that they will not see the agent until his daughter is found. The daughter is the latest in a string of missing people in northern Washington.
In comes a new member of the team sent as negotiator, and without consent from the team leader, Dak Lakes, walks onto the boat where the agent is held to "speak" with the distraught father in hopes of "helping" him.
Not the best beginning for profiler, Agent Kevyn Taylor. Dak demands honesty and procedures to be followed. This one would have to be watched and taught the ropes.
But from here it’s one thing after another as the team tries to unravel clues about the missing residents of Seattle.
Strange events to baffle the reader, edge of your seat plot, great characters with a completely organic faith message make for a very good book.
This is a new to me author and I am very impressed with her writing. This book is full of suspense and really no romance although there seems to be some attraction building. I like the way the characters Dak and Kevilyn work together and communicate. Also I love the message interwoven into the book about living out your faith so others can see a difference. Not just saying I believe in God but actually living for Him. This was a good book and a great start to a series on the FBI which is my favorite thing in suspense.
Keven, new to town and position as FBI profiler, intuitive and deep into psychology often breaks the rules for a positive result. However, her new boss Dak, was a strict rule-follower. This worked her first day on the job during a hostage situation, but now with a serial kidnapper and killer to capture, her life was in danger especially when she was the decoy. Excellent writing and riveting mystery from beginning to end, however, the thought process of the perp didn't always make sense. Why after inheriting must he kidnap to form his own family when he could virtually buy a harem? I realize this was considered CF but most bosses aren't so overtly pronounced about their convictions one way or another. Mystery was solved but what about Keven and Dak's future - there seemed to be a mutual attraction, though still professional. A bit confusing for the logical person to understand, but still a good read for those who enjoy this genre.
absolutely wonderful! This is the first book by this author I have read. If you are a fan of Terry Blackstock, then you will add this author to your list. Candle not only gives us a wonderful story, but it is a great start to the series. The characters are absolutely wonderful and you grow to care for them and have concern for them. A team of FBI agents who are trying to track down a kidnapper and murderer. While doing this, they are trying to save the lives of two women, one man, and a child. The suspense level starts low, and slowly builds throughout the book. Although the suspense level may start low, it is continuous! This book definitely will feed your curiosity level. candle, also does a wonderful job of weaving scripture into the story. She does it in a realistic, practical way. I can’t wait to get the next book.
I've been getting more into inspirational suspense romance lately and this book popped up in an email newsletter one day. Though it's not focused on romance, the suspense is definitely there. It took me a while to read the whole thing because parts of it were so intense. I'm glad I finished it, though. What I really liked about this book was how the author showed the extremely important difference between someone who says they're a Christian and someone who lives the life of Christian faith. I also liked the characters and felt they were pretty relatable. I definitely wanted to know what was going to happen next. If you enjoy suspense novels and characters who live their faith, then give this book a try.
A series of perplexing abductions challenge a team of FBI agents. New to the team is a beautiful Australian transplant. Her audacity may get her killed or it may save lives. As the investigation falters so do the chances of survival.
This was a fairly entertaining procedural. It was a bit predictable but overall the pacing was good. There is a Christian message. It is gently uplifting and should not be objectionable regardless of religion or lack thereof. I will continue with the next in the series.
This one had me hooked from the start. The action starts immediately with an FBI hostage situation in which the reader and the protagonist meet the new team member for the first time. And the plot thickens and races on. In addition to being an FBI thriller, this story is filled with psychological suspense as the characters are emotionally twisted by their changing circumstances. Even though you may guess the villain’s identity early, you will be compelled to stay with the story until the last page. I’m ready for the next book in this series.
Kevyn was reassigned to work at Puget Sound FBI office. Dak, is attempting to resolve an agent being held by a gunman. Kevyn gets the hostage released. She finds out that his daughter Ava Has been kidnapped. Investigating they find others victims missing and realize all these cases are related. The author draws you in to the point of not being able to put the book down.
I'm not familiar with many other FBI/cop/thriller books by Christian authors, which is one of the reasons this book caught my eye. It was a welcome surprise. In terms of readability and writing style I'd compare it to the Women's Murder Club books by James Patterson.
I was almost immediately pulled into this book. I considered pulling an all-nighter to read it in one sitting, but real life won out on that one. I would definitely read more in this series.
A good Christian suspense plot from the beginning. FBI are at a hostile situation, a man’s daughter is missing and he has taken an agent. They have had many people missing in Northern Washington She has once again given us a plot with good narration that is carried to the end, well done. Given audio for my voluntary review
I've read a decent amount of the "FBI" type books, and some of them are good, some of them not. This one definitely falls into the GOOD section.
Characters and storyline were well-developed, and the "who-dun-it" aspect caught me off-guard to who it ended up being. Recommend this book for a good, fast read.
A riveting narrative that captivates readers with its masterful storytelling, "Nameless" delivers a compelling blend of suspense and heartfelt character development. The novel's pristine prose and thoughtful portrayal of faith-driven protagonists create an immersive and uplifting reading experience that resonates long after the final page.
Love all of Candle’s books so far and can’t wait to read the next one in this series. I like how the characters are real and Kevyn is learning about a relationship with God from example.
Candle Sutton is an amazing author. She writes stories that keep your attention. No mushy love story. Stories about the events people go through and how God is there to help them, no matter what their situation. I enjoy her stories.
Great telling of a story based in reality and God's power
Excellent character development and dialogue, good pacing and plot twists resulting in a mystery set in our troubled culture with God's plan displayed.
A story about abductions to produce a family unit. Five people and one child disappear. Kevinyn, a female agent, was nearly kidnapped using a fast.acting drug injected in her neck. Many searches and finally the perpetrator is found.
A story about a man who has list has family and kidnaps other to substitute. The FBI agents track down clues to find out who he is and where he's hiding those he's taken. Drugs, murders, kidnapping -all wind up in this well written mystery.
This book kept my attention from the beginning. I'm not a big mystery reader but I enjoyed reading this. Good character development and enough intrigue to keep the story moving. Definitely see how the storyline could continue.
Great suspense! FBI agents Dak and Kevyn try to find a kidnapper in the Puget Sound area. He’s taken multiple people with seemingly no connection. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves suspense.
A thrill ride from the first chapter this novel was enjoyable and gripping. I couldn’t put it down as the tale grew wider and deeper I ached to receive all the answers and was very entertained. A talented author. I’m going to Download the next book now.
The FBI, is looking for a killer and a kidnapper. They are unaware, that the same person is both. While doing that, they find an illegal drug ring. All of it, is at the same place.
A child goes missing, then a young lady is found dead, a young FBI agent and her Christian boss go through many clues, questionings and places to locate a serial abductor and killer. Makes for an interesting and exciting read!!
This is my first Candle Sutton book but definitely not my last! Great edge-of-your-seat suspense from page one. The characters are real and well developed. The Christian message is clear but not preachy. Highly recommend!
Twisty plot, interesting characters, unexpected personalities, and God's influence combine for a hard-to-put-down mystery! I'm excited to read the next book in the series!
