Handsome. Dark. Possessive.
I'm the adopted son of the illustrious Hunt family.

Unlike my pedigreed adopted family with their six generations of blue blood and privilege,
I have street scum running through my veins.
The blood of hookers, pimps and petty thieves.

I'm out to make a name for myself on wallstreet.
My adopted father is one of the worlds most powerful tycoons.
He taught me the business of money and the power that comes with it.
He also taught me to trust no one.

I've had people mistaken my kindness for weakness.
I won't have that anymore.
Their sh*t. Their manipulations. Their fake apologies.

And then I met Layla Taylor.
From the very moment she waltzes into my office.
All I can see is her.

She's the perfect woman for me.
And I'm going to do everything I can to protect her.
No matter how risky it is.
Including breaking my own rules.

Chance and Layla’s story is well written by this talented duo of authors, and is a heartbreaking story which is filled with drama, deception, betrayal and love. I was intrigued and hooked throughout and I look forward to reading more from these authors’, and I highly recommend for all readers.

I liked this book. The story was well written and flowed beautifully. The characters were well defined within the story and they had such great chemistry. I loved the ending. If you like the works of this wonderful author, then this book is a must-read.

So many emotions. Chance is adopted by a rich family and some of the family keeps reminding him. Layla comes to his office with some papers, and he wants to go for it, but after Sarah... Can Chance get past his adoption? Can he get past his rejection from Sarah? Can Layla be the one for him? Would she accept him?

Chance has heard his life that he may have been adopted by the Hunts but he wasn’t one of them. His first love destroys his heart and he doesn’t plan on letting that happen again but when he meets Layla, sparks fly. This is an emotional read with lots of drama and suspense. Layla and Chance are great characters and their story will draw you in from beginning to end. I loved it!

Okay, so this is another one of those books that could have been 5 stars if someone would have let a first time reader edit it. In my digital copy I had about 4 pages of a story that was completely repeated word for word a page or 2 later. So many times the gender of the characters were misplaced.
This story did go on and on. If the main character was a female I can imagine reviewers complaining about her constant whining and internal dialogue. This caused me to believe that Timothy Allen was female rather than a man. Also, since there was not an author's photo supplied. Regardless, I do enjoy romances given by the guy's point of view. It is a nice change.

Disappointing

I was really excited for this book. It had a good plot but it was drawn out. The main characters were lacking chemistry and the story just took long. Although I sympathize with Chance, he was very back and forth and too indecisive for me. He was rather frustrating and I just wanted the story to be over already. Layla was driven and deserved someone that didn't make her feel so unwanted or ponder on if her boyfriend loves her or not. I was just disappointed in the end.

Meh

The story wasn’t bad, but it just wasn’t for me. I didn’t connect or care for the characters and at times felt like they were overly dramatic or whiny like teenagers. I didn’t think the emotions jumped off the page either. I was only reading the story and not getting absorbed into it.

There is drama, secrets, betrayal, and so much more! But you also get amazing chemistry between Chance and Layla and I couldn't help but be glued to the screen. This is a great writing duo and I am so glad to see the transformation their writing has taken.

I feel bad for DNF'ing this book, but 10 chapters in, I was done. In those 10 chapters the MMC did nothing but 'oh woe is me' with some sex thrown in.
It wasn't my cup of tea, but that doesn't mean someone else may not love the book. It's just not for me.

This book was a change from my normal read. What I liked about it was the real down to earth feeling you got about "The adopted child" when it came to family feelings. Well worth the read.

This was long, complex story that had me enthralled
by sewsummore

Chase and Morgan Hunt were brothers in every way but blood. Mason was the heir groomed to take over the billion-dollar family business by his father Edwin, while Chase, who was adopted, was ignored by their father because he was not born a Hunt. Despite this twisted upbringing, the two boys were best friends. It was the love of his adopted mother, Melanie, and that of his brother, that helped Chase accept their family relationship. When the time came for the boys to become interns, Morgan went to his family company while Chase was sent to a business acquaintance of his father. It was there that Chase shined putting into practice lessons he learned eavesdropping on the instructions their father gave Morgan. During this period, Chase fell in love with a girl named Layla only to be betrayed by her. Morgan was under intense pressure to perform by his father, wishing he could walk away from the business and his father. It was then the two brothers decided to form their own company secretly, using money from Morgan's Trust Fund with the intention of eventually removing themselves from Edwin's orbit and control. How Edwin discovers their plan and when the boys win a contract he had wanted, was compelling reading. I felt great satisfaction when reading the boy's win. However, Edwin was a man who will win at any cost, and there are more difficulties ahead for the boys. While Morgan was under terrible pressure to be a copy of his father, he was also his mother's son and refused to become what his father wanted. Chase had to live with his adopted father's disregard, and while it did cause him pain, it also forced him to become a man of principle, determined to succeed. This story was a long, complicated story that had me enthralled. When Layla betrayed Chase, I wanted to dislike her, but there were reasons she was forced to betray him, in the end, it was with her help that the boys finally won. I found it hard to put down this book, the characters had hidden depths and the were dramatic scenes with twists I never expected, and the ending you will have to read for yourself.

This is a first time read from author Timothy S. Allen so I wasn't sure what to prepare for when I received an ARC from Booksprout. Well, here's my honest review:

Broken follows the story of Chance Hunt, who hails from a very rich and prestigious family The Hunts, and his struggles of having a powerful last name. Being a Hunt sounds exhausting, especially when you're adopted into the family and don't really belong according to his "father", Edwin. He does have an older brother, Morgan, and his adoptive Mom, Melanie, who offer their support. However, Edwin rules with an iron fist and no one is allowed to disagree. From our earliest introduction to Chance, we're reminded of where he's really positioned in society when we meet Sarah Hill. You'll definitely follow the "Sarah Hill" saga throughout the book. However, she's not the female heroine in this book. Layla is the woman that captures his heart, but first they must go through a lot of drama, anguish, suffering, and anything else you can describe.

Overall, the story was very long. So don't expect to sit down and read the story within a couple of hours. You're going to need to follow along. Will Chance find his own path? Will he succeed despite Edwin Hunt's iron fist? How will his relationship with Morgan continue with Edwin always in the shadow? There are so many questions and I believe the author did a great job of answering all of them. Will Morgan get his own book?

If you have the chance, read the book. I intend to purchase the book when it releases!

Who is broken and who is not changes in unexpected ways...

Broken is the story of will take you on a journey of what family is about, what you value and who you want to be, along with making your own stand for the life you want. Yes this is a long, long book but it is also fascinating, enthralling and very engaging as you read about the Hunt brother, Morgan and Chance. One is biological and one is adopted which does not mean anything to them or their mother. But with a father like they have, who differentiates between blood and not, they each will have their own roads and struggles as they deal with his expectations. However, with the two of them they form a deep bond that takes them into being adults and then lets them band together to overcome their father and become their own men, on their own terms.
It took me a bit to make it to the end of Broken as I found I could only read it for so long before I would need a break and and pick up something different. But I kept picking the book up again and again and each time I found something more to love about Morgan and Chance and their relationship. Along the way there are women, lost loves, some stark opinions by other people, betrayals and a whole lot more. This is a a very well written book that I really liked a lot.

I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

He will never let her go!!!

*** 4 1/2 Stars ***

From the outset let me just say that Broken by J.C. Allen and Timothy S. Allen is a very intriguing and engaging story. However, it is very long and you have to be willing to commit to reading it. But if you are able to make it through you are nicely rewarded at the end with a satisfied smile on your face and a lift in your heart after all the drama.
Broken tells the story of Chance and Layla. These two definitely have a long and hard road to travel with a lot of detours, big pot holes to get lost in and more than a few red lights. Once Chance finds Layla he is not going to let her go and will fight all that come to try and separate them. She is his shining light and his true north. Layla loves Chance and is the one that makes him a better man.
This story is well written between the two authors. I did feel that it could have been cut down and had the same amount of impact but it did not deter me from finishing it.

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Yes Chance was broken but not for long. This story was bitterly powerful and profoundly piercing. Timothy did a phenomenal job with these characters. The build up was far more than I expected and it was powerful. I felt as if I was walking beside Layla and Chance. You could feel each emotion coming off them and I really wanted to grab then and just hold them at points in the story. It was very well written and the flow was splendid. Timothy wrote a wonderful story and one that has heat and power. The world and character building was exceptional and from the first chapter it all begins with the way he has written this story. I will definitely be looking for more from him.

This was my first read from this author. It was a strong story, with a lot of angst. It's about Chance who at the age of 12 admits to a girl he likes, that he's adopted into this very rich and powerful family he lives with and the girl leaves him behind because of that. He cannot get over that, so he always carries this pain with him. A beautiful story, but it bothered me that the writing in the middle of the sentence would just turn from first to third person and than the sentence would end in the first person again. It became very annoying. That's why 4 stars. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This story is full of emotions, the lead male character, Chance was adopted, and people have never let him forget that fact and have treated him differently because of it. This has left him with emotional scars especially after his first love left him. He wasn’t really ready for another go at love, but it found him in the form of Layla. This is a wonderfully told story of all the drama and emotion that these two characters endured so that they could claim some happiness for themselves.

Chance's life has been upside down as long as he can remember. It doesn't matter that he was adopted by a wealthy family. He still has a lot of conflicting emotions due to being put up for adoption. Layla has a similar backdrop but has been used by her adoptive uncle. There paths cross and it is a tumultuous journey. Will Chance be able to path his own life? Will Layla and Chance have a future together? This is defiantly worth the read but wow what a story.

Broken is a full length book but once you start reading it the pages flipped by and pulled me into Chance and Layla's story. I loved the main characters and how great they were for each other. Their story is filled with drama, angst, steam, family problems and so much more. From the intriguing characters to the great writing this book is a definite must read and I look forward to reading more books by this author duo in the future. This is dramatic, emotional and sweet. Chance is broken hearted and bitter until Layla came into his life. Being adopted, and always reminded that you're not as good as the rest of the family, and betrayed by his first love, Chance won't allow Layla to get away from him. It's not an easy relationship, but he'll fight for what he wants.

This story had me intrigued from the beginning. The patriarch was a horrible human being but his actions lead our main character to succeed despite the conflict. The emotional impact of this story on my senses was immediate and strong. I wanted their relationship to succeed because their chemistry was palpable from the moment they met. A story filled with so much - drama, betrayal, intrigue and most importantly, love. Great writing and an engaging storyline.

Chance

Chance Hunt was adopted at a young age. Everybody told him he would never be one of them. This story had all the emotions you could ask for. Especially feeling sorry for a little boy. You have to read the book to fully understand. I loved it. But who doesn’t love a happy ever after. Thank you authors for a job well done. Can’t wait to see what this duo brings us next
